1v1 Aron [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

pqs

Banned deucer.
[OVERVIEW]

Aron is a gimmick Pokemon that can catch people off guard if they don't have the proper resources or experience on their team to counter it. This gimmick specifically relies on Sturdy, allowing Aron to take a hit from almost any Pokemon barring ones with status moves, Mold Breaker, or multi-hit moves. With the combination of level 1, Sturdy, Shell Bell, and Endeavor, Aron is able to take a hit, use Endeavor to bring the opposing Pokemon down to 1 HP, heal back all of the damage with Shell Bell, and eventually use either Sandstorm, Metal Burst, or Toxic to finish off the foe. This lets Aron beat Pokemon that cannot deviate from attacking like Dragonite, Donphan, Mega Altaria, and Meloetta. However, an abundance of status moves including Will-O-Wisp, Sleep Powder, Taunt, and Substitute all stop Aron from completing the task at hand. Furthermore, Mold Breaker Pokemon like Haxorus and Mega Gyarados can go through Sturdy and OHKO Aron. Lastly, flinching moves are also prevalent in the metagame. Though Aron can block Fake Out if it is running Protect, moves like Iron Head and Air Slash used by Pokemon like Jirachi, Mega Mawile, Mega Charizard Y, and Togekiss make matchups with them unreliable, as one flinch can catch Aron off guard and leave it open to being KOed the next turn.

Moves
========

Endeavor allows Aron to lower the foe's HP down to 1 in the likely event the foe uses an attacking move. Pokemon that Endeavor can beat, alongside other moves, include Dragonite, Victini, and Donphan. Sandstorm allows Aron to finish off opposing Pokemon after using Endeavor at 1 HP unless they are Steel-, Rock-, or Ground-types. Metal Burst is for Steel-types, which are immune to both sandstorm and Toxic chip damage; it guarantees Aron's matchup against offensive Steel-types that are only able to use attacking moves, like Genesect and Choice Specs Celesteela. Toxic should be used against foes that are Ground- or Rock-type and use Counter, like Donphan and Golem. Protect is an option over Toxic if you want the potential to win against Pokemon that use Fake Out like Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, Mewnium Z Mew, Incineroar, and Weavile.

Set Details
========

Sturdy crucially allows Aron to take one hit and use Endeavor in return, lowering the opponent's HP down to 1. Shell Bell, in combination with Endeavor and Aron being at level 1, allows Aron to restore itself to full health after using Endeavor at 1 HP. A Brave nature along with 0 Speed EVs allows Aron to be as slow as possible to potentially win the mirror matchup versus other Aron. No EVs outside of Attack are invested because they are not needed, as Aron is level 1 and any attack will bring it down to 1 HP anyway.

Usage Tips
========

Against most Pokemon, the standard procedure is to use Endeavor turn one and subsequently use Toxic or Sandstorm to knock out the opposing Pokemon. Use this strategy versus Pokemon like Dragonite, Choice Specs Greninja, and non-Taunt Tapu Lele. Against Counter users, you may want to use Toxic or Sandstorm turn one if you expect them to use Counter that turn. Use Metal Burst in situations where you can't use Toxic or Sandstorm and you expect the opposing Pokemon to attack, especially against Steel-types like Durant and Choice Specs Celesteela. Toxic should be used when you don't expect the opposing Pokemon to attack you and they are a Ground- or Rock-type like Donphan or Crustle. Use Protect against Pokemon that you want to scout sets for or that you expect to use Fake Out. Examples of Fake Out users are Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, and Mega Blastoise. Be aware that Z-Move users that use Fake Out like Mew and Incineroar force you to win a mind game, since they can opt to use their Z-Move on Aron's Protect. Stay away from users of moves that inflict residual damage like Jumpluff, Mega Charizard X, and Garchomp, Taunt and Substitute users like Tapu Lele and Greninja, and Pokemon with abilities that circumvent Sturdy like Mega Gyarados, Excadrill, and Mega Heracross.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that can beat Taunt users like Kommo-o and Tapu Lele can be good assets for an Aron-based team; examples of these Pokemon include hyper offensive threats like Porygon-Z, Naganadel, and Choice Band Zeraora. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite for them. Taunt users that can stop residual damage-inducing moves like Sleep Powder, Will-O-Wisp, and Leech Seed from the likes of Jumpluff, Mega Gardevoir, and Whismicott are good partners for Aron; examples of these include Tapu Lele, Mew, Heatran, and Kommo-o. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite and Meloetta for them. Aron commonly loses to users of abilities like Mold Breaker, Skill Link, and Rough Skin such as Mega Gyarados, Excadrill, Haxrous, Mega Heracross, and Garchomp. Teammates that can beat more than half of these Pokemon are Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Greninja. In return, Aron can beat non-Taunt Tapu Lele, non-Substitute Mega Metagross, and Kyurem for them.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Water Pulse can be used to win the mirror matchup versus other Aron; the high PP count and the confusion chance allow Aron to have a good chance of winning versus other Pokemon with Taunt, since it can avoid being PP stalled.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pokemon Immune to Endeavor**: Ghost-types fully prevent Aron from carrying out its strategy and can effectively beat Aron no matter the set. Common Ghost-type Pokemon in 1v1 are Mega Gengar, Aegislash, and Mega Sableye. Zeraora's Plasma Fists turns Endeavor into an Electric-type move, preventing Aron from damaging Zeraora.

**Workarounds to Sturdy**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker or multi-hit attacks can easily KO Aron due to them bypassing its Sturdy ability. Examples of these Pokemon include Mega Gyarados, Haxorus, Excadrill, and Mega Heracross. On another note, any Pokemon that can put Aron to sleep can break its gimmick by just 2HKOing or stalling out Aron. Examples of these Pokemon include Smeargle, Breloom, Mega Venusaur, Jumpluff, Mega Swampert, and Vivillon.

**Residual Damage**: Moves that can cause residual damage at the end of the turn like Leech Seed and Will-O-Wisp can break Aron's Sturdy, after which the opposing Pokemon can KO Aron with any move. Users of such moves include Mega Venusaur, Celesteela, Serperior, Whimsicott, and Mega Gardevoir, Mega Charizard X, and Victini. Also, the abilities Rough Skin and Iron Barbs block Aron from using Endeavor because if it uses it, it'll have its Sturdy broken and subsequently get KOed by any move. These abilities are mainly used by Garchomp and Ferrothorn.

**Taunt**: Taunt can shut down all of Aron's moves outside of Endeavor and Metal Burst, leaving it unable to perform its gimmick and enabling opposing Pokemon to PP stall Aron until it is forced to use Struggle. Examples of common Pokemon that run this move are Tapu Lele, Kommo-o, Tapu Fini, Kee Berry Mew, Victini, Mega Mawile, Mega Tyranitar, and Tapu Bulu.

**PP Stall**: Pokemon with high PP status moves like Metal Sound Magnezone, Celesteela, Rest Zygarde-C, and Registeel can stall out Aron until it runs out of PP with no way of KOing the foe and make it use Struggle.

**Substitute**: Any Pokemon with Substitute can negate Aron's gimmick moves by blocking status, and when these foes are at low enough HP, Endeavor no longer does enough damage to break through Substitute. Examples of common metagame threats that run Substitute are Torrent Greninja, Mega Metagross, Zygarde, Primarina, and Landorus-T.

**Flinching Moves**: Pokemon that have the main goal of taking down their foe through flinches have a good chance of winning against Aron due to just one flinch stopping it from performing its gimmick fully. These Pokemon mainly include Jirachi and Togekiss. Also, if Aron doesn't have Protect, Fake Out users like Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny can beat it.

"ctrl + h on 'gimmick' to 'psychological warfare'" -[GL Waylaid and Yech] pqs

[OVERVIEW]

  • Aron is mainly a gimmick Pokemon that can catch people off guard if they don't have the proper resources or experience on their team to counter it.
  • Aron doesn't have the stress EV'ing for any damage calculations due to it having to be level 1 for this gimmick to work.
  • Furthermore, Aron doesn't care about critical hits due to it only being level 1 so it isn't manipulated by RNG in that sense.
  • This gimmick, specifically, relies on Sturdy, and ability that not many Pokemon get. With the combination of being level 1, having Sturdy, holding Shell Bell, and having access to Endeavor allows Aron to take a hit, use Endeavor to make the opposing Pokemon have 1 HP, and subsequently take heal back all of the damage with Shell Bell, and eventually use a status move or a weather move to OHKO the opposing Pokemon. either Sandstorm, Metal Burst, or Toxic to finish off the opposing Pokemon. Unnecessarily vague
  • Aron mainly relying on a gimmick and mainly Sturdy has its cons, though. TheThere are an abundance of status moves in the metagame all reducing Aron's HP turn-by-turn that can easily beat Aron. Examples of these are burning Aron, putting Aron to sleep, taunting Aron, and using Substitute on Aron all stop Aron from completing the task at hand. Most of these don't reduce the hp per turn
  • Furthermore, common abilities, especially Mold Breaker, can work ways around Aron's Sturdy. Mold Breaker Pokemon like Haxorus and Mega Gyarados can just go through Sturdy and OHKO Aron, due to it being level 1. Unless there are more abilities than Magic Bounce and Magic Guard, "common abilities" sounds misleading
  • Lastly, flinching moves are also prevalent in the metagame. Though Aron can block Fake Out if it is running Protect, it still is capable of losing to moves like Iron Head, usually used by Jirachi, Mega Mawile, and non-Substitute Mega Metagross., and Excadrill, makes the matchups not as reliable due to the 30% chance of flinch, over two or three turns, where just one flinch can catch Aron off guard and subsequently KO Aron the next turn. Excadrill has mold breaker and where did three come from

Moves
========

  • Endeavor is Aron's main move, holding this set together and allowing it to put the opposing Pokemon's HP down to 1 if the opponent uses an attacking move, usually. Pokemon that Endeavor can beat helps with, intertwined with other moves, include Dragonite, Victini, and Donphan if played correctly.
  • Sandstorm, in combination, after using Endeavor at 1 HP, allows Aron to chip down the opponent, outside of Steel-, Rock-, and Ground-types, usually fainting them.
  • Metal Burst is for the Steel-types that are both immune to Sandstorm and Toxic chip-damage. This helps in situations where offensive Steel-types are only able to use an attacking move, like Genesect, Excadrill, and Choice Specs Celesteela.
  • Toxic is used in the matchups where the opponent is a Ground- or Rock-type and use Counter since they're immune to the usual Sandstorm. This move helps against these types of Pokemon like Donphan, Choice Band Garchomp, and Golem, and non-Switcheroo Archeops. I actually edited this after I posted it initially because there was a little hiccup, but Garchomp just wins and Archeops loses to Metal Burst
  • Protect is used instead of Toxic in some matchups if you want to guarantee the the potential to win against Pokemon that usually use Fake Out, as just getting flinched once with Aron will ruin the whole gimmick using Endeavor and, subsequently, Sandstorm or Metal Burst in this case. Such examples include Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, Mewnium Z Mew, Incineroar, and Weavile. The Z-move users can predict Protect, Lopunny can use Substitute, but Mega Medicham is fair game

Set Details
========

  • Aron's flagship ability is Sturdy so it can take one hit and use Endeavor in return, making the opponent's HP down to 1. This affects every one of Aron's winning matchups, like Dragonite, Meloetta, non-Trick Victini, and Mega Altaria Donphan, and Choice Band Garchomp. Counter makes Donphan a 50/50 between Endeavor and Toxic, and Rough Skin makes Garchomp win
  • Shell Bell in combination with Endeavor and being level 1 allows Aron to restore itself to full health after using Endeavor at 1 HP.
  • A Brave nature along with 0 Speed allows Aron to be as slow as possible to beat the mirror matchup versus other Aron.
  • 252 Attack in combination with Metal Burst lets Aron bounce back as much damage as possible. This is just not true, just say Aron needs at least 1 ev to be allowed into a Showdown game
  • No other EVs are invested because they are not needed due to Aron being level 1 and defensive investment wouldn't matter as everything will bring it down to Sturdy HP.

Usage Tips
========

  • Against most Pokemon, the standard procedure is to Endeavor turn one, expecting an attack lowering you to 1 HP from the opposing Pokemon, and then subsequently using Sandstorm to knock out the opposing Pokemon. Use this strategy versus Dragonite, Choice Specs Greninja, and non-Taunt Tapu Lele. The only real exception to this rule is Counter, so just say use Endeavor against everything except Counter users, in which you might want to use Toxic or Sandstorm first
  • Use Metal Burst in situations where you can't use Sandstorm, and where you expect the opposing Pokemon to attack. Like when you're against a Ground-, Steel-, or Rock-type, such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Genesect, or Archeops.
  • Toxic should be used when you don't expect the opposing Pokemon to attack you, and they are a Ground- or Rock-type, like Donphan or Crustle.
  • Use Protect against Pokemon that you want to scout out sets for, or that you expect to use Fake Out. Examples of these Fake Out users are Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, or Mega Blastoise.
  • Stay away from residual damage (ab)users like Jumpluff, Mega Charizard X, or Garchomp, Taunt or Substitute users like Tapu Lele or Greninja, and Pokemon with abilities that circumvent Aron's ability, Sturdy, like Mold Breaker or Skill Link. Common Pokemon that use this are Mega Gyarados, Excadrill, and Mega Heracross.

Team Options
========

  • Pokemon that can beat Taunt-users like Kommo-o or Tapu Lele can be a good asset to an Aron-based team, these Pokemon include Choiced users that don't care about being Taunted like Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, Choice Band Garchomp, and Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite, fast Mega Metagross, and Mega Slowbro, these not in all cases.
  • Taunt-users that can stop residual-damage inducing moves like Sleep Powder, Will-O-Wisp, and Leech Seed are good partners for Aron, these good partners include Tapu Lele, Mew, and Kommo-o. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite and Aegislash in some cases.
  • Pokemon that can beat the common users of abilties that beat Aron like Mold Breaker, Skill Link, and Rough Skin are good partners for Aron because it commonly loses to those. These Pokemon that beat Aron include Mega Gyarados, Excadrill, Haxrous, Mega Heracross, and Garchomp. Pokemon that can beat more than half of these Pokemon are Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Greninja. In return, Aron can beat bulky Dragonite and Mega Gardevoir for them.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Metal Claw can be used to out-PP opposing Aron, winning the mirror matchup. HP Fighting can just kill the Aron, and you lose to every Ghost-type anyway so that doesn't matter
  • Berry Juice can be run to beat Choice Band Garchomp in conjunction with using Toxic turn one

Checks and Counters
===================

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker can easily KO Aron due to them bypassing Aron's Sturdy-ability. Examples of these Pokemon include Mega Gyarados, Haxorus, and Excadrill Sawk. Mold Breaker Sawk kind of defeats the purpose of using Sawk, so it's not a very good example

**Sleep**: Any Pokemon that can put Aron to sleep can break its gimmick and just 2HKO or stall out Aron proceeding this. Examples of these Pokemon include Smeargle, Breloom, Mega Gengar, and Vivillon.

**Residual Damage**: Moves that can cause residual damage at the end of the turn like Leech Seed or Will-O-Wisp can break Aron's Sturdy and then the next turn, the opposing Pokemon can KO you with any move. Also, the ability Rough Skin can block Aron from using Endeavor because if it uses it, it'll get hit by it and then subsequently get knocked out by any move. This is mainly used by Garchomp.

**Taunt**: Taunt, like sleep, can shut down Aron's moves outside of Endeavor and Metal Burst, leaving it not able to perform its gimmick. These Pokemon are then able to PP stall out Aron with Taunt until it is force to use Struggle. Examples of common Pokemon that run this are Tapu Lele, Kommo-o, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu.

**PP Stall**: Pokemon with high-PP status-moves like Metal Sound Magnezone and Celesteela, and Rest Zygarde-C, and Registeel can stall out Aron from using either Metal Burst or Toxic/Sandstorm until it runs out of PP with no way of KOing the foe, and make Aron have to use Struggle. The way you worded it kinda makes the reader think you just forgot to say what move Registeel has, when it just also has Rest. Also you excluded Endeavor from the moves they PP stall when they just PP stall all of your moves, so I just changed it to all PP.

**Substitute**: Any Pokemon with Substitute, like some of the points above, can negate Aron's gimmick moves due to them being immune to status and when at 25% HP, Endeavor doesn't do enough damage to break through Substitute. Examples of common metagame threats that run Substitute are Torrent Greninja, Mega Metagross, Zygarde, and Landorus-T.

**Flinch**: Pokemon which have the main goals of flinching the opponent to death have a good chance of winning against Aron due to just one flinch stopping Aron from performing its gimmick, fully. These Pokemon include Jirachi and Togekiss, mainly. Also, Fake Out is used to flinch you turn one, so if you don't have Protect, Mega Medicham or Mega Lopunny can beat you.

**Multi-hit Moves**: Multi-hit moves like Rock Blast, or Pin Missile, or Arm Thrust can all breakthrough Aron's Sturdy and ruin its gimmick. The two widespread Pokemon that use these effectively to beat Aron are Mega Heracross and Crustle. Arm Thrust Heracross isn't real, and you don't need to include it anyway

This lets Aron beat Pokemon who cannot deviate from attacking or disrupt this strategy.
  • Aron mainly relying on a gimmick and mainly Sturdy has its cons, though. filler text However, There are an abundance of status moves in the metagame that can easily beat Aron. Examples of these are burning Aron, putting Aron to sleep, taunting Aron, and using Substitute on Aron all stop Aron from completing the task at hand.
  • Furthermore, Mold Breaker can work ways around Aron's Sturdy. Mold Breaker Pokemon like Haxorus and Mega Gyarados can just go through Sturdy and OHKO Aron, due to it being level 1.
  • Lastly, flinching moves are also prevalent in the metagame. Though Aron can block Fake Out if it is running Protect, it still is capable of losing to moves like Iron Head and Air Slash, usually used by Jirachi, Mega Mawile, Mega Charizard Y, and Togekiss and non-Substitute Mega Metagross, would remove this - iron head is optimal but not guaranteed to be seen makes the matchups not as reliable due to the 30% chance of flinch, over two turns, where just one flinch can catch Aron off guard and subsequently KO Aron the next turn.

Moves

  • Endeavor is Aron's main move, holding this set together and allowing it to put the opposing Pokemon's HP down to 1 if the opponent uses an attacking move, usually. Pokemon that Endeavor can beat, intertwined with other moves, include Dragonite, Victini, and Donphan if played correctly. yeah thats true for every pokemon, you win if you play correctly
  • Sandstorm, in combination, after using Endeavor at 1 HP, allows Aron to chip down the opponent, outside of Steel-, Rock-, and Ground-types, usually fainting them. when is this not the case?
  • Metal Burst is for the Steel-types that are both immune to Sandstorm and Toxic chip-damage. This helps in situations where offensive Steel-types are only able to use an attacking move, like Genesect, Excadrill, bruh and Choice Specs Celesteela.
  • Toxic is used in the matchups where the opponent is a Ground- or Rock-type and use Counter since they're immune to the usual Sandstorm. This move helps against Pokemon like Donphan and Golem.
  • Protect is used instead of Toxic in some matchups if you want the potential to win against Pokemon that usually use Fake Out, as just getting flinched once with Aron will ruin the whole gimmick using Endeavor and, subsequently, Sandstorm or Metal Burst in this case. Such examples include Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, Mewnium Z Mew, Incineroar, and Weavile.

Set Details
========

  • Aron's flagship ability is Sturdy so it can take one hit and use Endeavor in return, making the opponent's HP down to 1. This affects every one of Aron's winning matchups, like Dragonite, Meloetta, non-Trick not run Victini, and Mega Altaria.
  • Shell Bell in combination with Endeavor and being level 1 allows Aron to restore itself to full health after using Endeavor at 1 HP.
  • A Brave nature along with 0 Speed allows Aron to be as slow as possible to beat the mirror matchup versus other Aron.
  • Aron needs at least 1 EV to be allowed into a 1v1 game. filler
  • No other EVs outside of attack are invested because they are not needed due to Aron being level 1 and defensive investment wouldn't matter as everything will bring it down to Sturdy HP.

Usage Tips
========

  • Against most Pokemon, the standard procedure is to Endeavor turn one, outside of Counter where you'd use Toxic or Sandstorm, expecting an attack lowering you to 1 HP from the opposing Pokemon, and then subsequently using Toxic or Sandstorm to knock out the opposing Pokemon. Use this strategy versus Dragonite, Choice Specs Greninja, and non-Taunt Tapu Lele.
  • Use Metal Burst in situations where you can't use Toxic or Sandstorm, and where you expect the opposing Pokemon to attack. Like when you're against a Ground-, Steel-, or Rock-type, such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Genesect, or Archeops. this entire point is flawed, you would use toxic on the ground and rock types
Be aware that Z-Move users that use Fake Out, like Mew and Incineroar, can play mind games with this move, if they opt to use their Z-Move on your Protect.
  • Stay away from residual damage (ab)users what like Jumpluff, Mega Charizard X, or Garchomp, Taunt or Substitute users like Tapu Lele or Greninja, and Pokemon with abilities that circumvent Aron's ability, Sturdy, like Mold Breaker or Skill Link. Common Pokemon that use this are Mega Gyarados, Excadrill, and Mega Heracross.

Team Options
========

  • Pokemon that can beat Taunt-users like Kommo-o or Tapu Lele can be a good asset to an Aron-based team, these Pokemon include Choiced users that don't care about being Taunted like Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, Choice Band Garchomp, and Choice Scarf regular tapu bulu beats both too Tapu Bulu. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite, fast Mega Metagross, and Mega Slowbro, not reliable these not in all cases. what? then remove the examples
In return, Aron can beat bulky Dragonite and Mega Gardevoir for them. not a chance, will o is standard

Ghost types should be #1 tbh

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker can easily KO Aron due to them bypassing Aron's Sturdy-ability. Examples of these Pokemon include Mega Gyarados, Haxorus, and Excadrill.

**Sleep**: Any Pokemon that can put Aron to sleep can break its gimmick and just 2HKO or stall out Aron proceeding this. Examples of these Pokemon include Smeargle, Breloom, Mega Gengar ghost type, and Vivillon.

**Residual Damage**: Moves that can cause residual damage at the end of the turn like Leech Seed or Will-O-Wisp can break Aron's Sturdy and then the next turn, the opposing Pokemon can KO you with any move. such as? Also, the ability Rough Skin can block Aron from using Endeavor because if it uses it, it'll get hit by it and then subsequently get knocked out by any move. This is mainly used by Garchomp.

**Taunt**: Taunt, like sleep, can shut down Aron's moves outside of Endeavor and Metal Burst, leaving it not able to perform its gimmick. These Pokemon are then able to PP stall out Aron with Taunt until it is forced to use Struggle. Examples of common Pokemon that run this are Tapu Lele, Kommo-o, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu.

**PP Stall**: Pokemon with high-PP status-moves like Metal Sound Magnezone and Celesteela, and Rest Zygarde-C and Registeel can stall out Aron until it runs out of PP with no way of KOing the foe, and make Aron have to use Struggle.

**Multi-hit Moves**: Multi-hit moves like Rock Blast or Pin Missile can all breakthrough Aron's Sturdy and ruin its gimmick. The two widespread Pokemon that use these effectively to beat Aron are Mega Heracross and Crustle.

Pokemon that can beat Taunt-users like Kommo-o or Tapu Lele can be a good asset to an Aron-based team, these Pokemon include Choice-item users that don't care about being Taunted like Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, Choice Band Garchomp, and Tapu Bulu you don't necessarily need to limit yourself to just choicers. Feel free to broaden this up to something like "hyper offensive" mons in general or something, since two of your examples only beat Lele-. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite for them. **Ghost-types**: Ghost-types, being immune to Endeavor, fully prevent Aron from carrying out its strategy and can effectively beat Aron no matter the set. Common Ghost-type Pokemon in 1v1 are Mega Gengar and Aegislash. and sableye

the points above and below this comment could probably be combined into a more general point about immunities to Endeavor

**Zeraora**: Zeraora can nullify Endeavor with Plasma Fists, a must-have on all of its sets, allowing it to easily beat Aron.

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker can easily KO Aron due to them bypassing Aron's Sturdy-ability. Examples of these Pokemon include Mega Gyarados, Haxorus, and Excadrill.

the points above and below this comment can probably be combined into a more general point about working around Sturdy. The multihit point would fit in here, as well.

**Sleep**: Any Pokemon that can put Aron to sleep can break its gimmick and just 2HKO or stall out Aron proceeding this. Examples of these Pokemon include Smeargle, Breloom, and Vivillon. and venusaur, jumpluff, and swampert

**Residual Damage**: Moves that can cause residual damage at the end of the turn like Leech Seed or Will-O-Wisp can break Aron's Sturdy and then the next turn, the opposing Pokemon can KO you with any move, like Mega Venusaur and Mega Gardevoir don't feel that you have to be conservative when it comes to listing checks and counters; the clearer the picture the better. Leechers include Celesteela, Serperior, and Whimsicott. Will-o-Wisp users also include Mega Charizard and Victini. Also, the abilities Rough Skin or Iron Barbs can block Aron from using Endeavor because if it uses it, it'll get hit by it and then subsequently get knocked out by any move. This is mainly used by Garchomp and Ferrothorn.

**Taunt**: Taunt, like sleep, can shut down Aron's moves outside of Endeavor and Metal Burst, leaving it not able to perform its gimmick. These Pokemon are then able to PP stall out Aron with Taunt until it is forced to use Struggle. Examples of common Pokemon that run this are Tapu Lele, Kommo-o, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu again, don't skimp out on giving examples; include Kee Berry Mew, Victini, Mega Mawile, and Mega Tyranitar.

**PP Stall**: Pokemon with high-PP status-moves like Metal Sound Magnezone and Celesteela, and Rest Zygarde-C and Registeel can stall out Aron until it runs out of PP with no way of KOing the foe, and make Aron have to use Struggle.

**Substitute**: Any Pokemon with Substitute, like some of the points above, can negate Aron's gimmick moves due to them being immune to status and when at 25% HP, Endeavor doesn't do enough damage to break through Substitute. Examples of common metagame threats that run Substitute are Torrent Greninja, Mega Metagross, Zygarde, and Landorus-T. and primarina

remove the bit I crossed out, since aron beats all meloetta besides the non-prevalent choice specs + trick

Other Options
being that Aron could hurt itself in confusion to break Sturdy whenever they try to play around Endeavor by not attacking.
aron isn't hurting itself, what- Water Pulse would be inflicting confusion upon the opponent so that they can have a chance at KOing themselves after being hit with Endeavor while Aron was at max HP in the event that they try to win by PP stalling you with Taunt. While you're at it, clarify that this would go over Toxic/Protect as the fourth slot.

With the combination of being level 1, having Sturdy, holding Shell Bell, and having access to Endeavor, (AC) allows Aron is able to take a hit, use Endeavor to make bring the opposing Pokemon have down to 1 HP, and subsequently heal back all of the damage with Shell Bell, and eventually use either Sandstorm, Metal Burst, or Toxic to finish off the opposing Pokemon foe. This lets Aron beat Pokemon who that cannot deviate from attacking or disrupt this strategy, like Dragonite, Donphan, Mega Altaria, and Meloetta. However, there is an abundance of status moves in the metagame that can easily beat Aron. Examples of these moves include including Will-O-Wisp, Sleep Powder, Taunt, and using Substitute on Aron all stop Aron from completing the task at hand. Furthermore, Mold Breaker can work ways around Aron's Sturdy. Mold Breaker Pokemon like Haxorus and Mega Gyarados can just go through Sturdy and OHKO Aron, due to it being level 1. Lastly, flinching moves are also prevalent in the metagame. Though Aron can block Fake Out if it is running Protect, it still is capable of losing to moves like Iron Head and Air Slash, usually used by Jirachi, Mega Mawile, Mega Charizard Y, and Togekiss, (AC) makes make the matchups not as reliable, (AC) due to the 30% chance of flinch, over two turns, where just as one flinch can catch Aron off guard and subsequently KO Aron leave it open to being KOed the next turn.

Moves
========

Endeavor is Aron's main move, holding holds this set together and allowing it allows Aron to put the opposing Pokemon's HP down to 1 if the opponent in the likely event it (unless i misread "usually") uses an attacking move, usually. Pokemon that Endeavor can beat, intertwined with alongside other moves, include Dragonite, Victini, and Donphan. Sandstorm, in combination, after using Endeavor at 1 HP, allows Aron to chip down (finish off?) the opponent opposing Pokemon after using Endeavor at 1 HP, unless they are Steel-, Rock-, or Ground-types. Metal Burst is for the Steel-types that are both immune to Sandstorm sand and Toxic chip damage. (RH) This helps in situations where against offensive Steel-types that are only able to use an attacking move, like Genesect and Choice Specs Celesteela. Toxic is used in the matchups where the opponent is a against foes that are Ground- or Rock-type and use Counter, (AC) like Donphan and Golem, since they're immune to the usual Sandstorm sand. This move helps against Pokemon like Donphan and Golem. Protect is used instead of an option over Toxic in some matchups if you want the potential to win against Pokemon that usually use Fake Out, as just getting flinched once one flinch with Aron will ruin the whole gimmick using Endeavor and, subsequently, Sandstorm or Metal Burst in this case. Such examples include Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, Mewnium Z Mew, Incineroar, and Weavile.

Set Details
========

Aron's flagship ability is Sturdy, (AC) so it can allowing it to take one hit and use Endeavor in return, making the opponent's HP down to 1. This affects every one of Aron's winning matchups. Shell Bell in combination with Endeavor and Aron being at level 1 allows Aron to restore itself to full health after using Endeavor at 1 HP. A Brave nature along with 0 Speed allows Aron to be as slow as possible to beat win the mirror matchup versus other Aron. No other EVs outside of Attack are invested because they are not needed, (AC) due to as Aron being is level 1 and defensive investment wouldn't matter as because everything any attack will bring it down to Sturdy 1 HP.

Usage Tips
========

Against most Pokemon, the standard procedure is to Endeavor turn one, outside of Counter users, where you'd use Toxic or Sandstorm, expecting an attack lowering you to 1 HP from the opposing Pokemon, and then subsequently using Toxic or Sandstorm to knock out the opposing Pokemon. Use this strategy versus Dragonite, Choice Specs Greninja, and non-Taunt Tapu Lele. Use Metal Burst in situations where you can't use Toxic or Sandstorm (RC) and where you expect the opposing Pokemon to attack, especially against Steel-types like Choice Specs Celesteela and Durant. Toxic should be used when you don't expect the opposing Pokemon to attack you, and they are a Ground- or Rock-type, like Donphan or and Crustle. Use Protect against Pokemon that you want to scout out sets for (RC) or that you expect to use Fake Out. Examples of these Fake Out users are Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, or and Mega Blastoise. Be aware that Z-Move users that use Fake Out, like Mew and Incineroar, can play mind games with this move if they opt to use their Z-Move on your Protect. Stay away from residual damage move (RH) users like Jumpluff, Mega Charizard X, or and Garchomp, Taunt or Substitute users like Tapu Lele or and Greninja, and Pokemon with abilities that circumvent Aron's ability, Sturdy (RC) like Mold Breaker or Skill Link. Common Pokemon that use this are Mega Gyarados, Excadrill, and Mega Heracross.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that can beat Taunt users (RH) like Kommo-o or and Tapu Lele can be a good asset to an Aron-based team; (SC) these Pokemon include hyper offensive threats like Porygon-Z, Naganadel, and Choice Band Zeraora. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite for them. Taunt users (RH) that can stop residual damage-inducing (move hyphen) moves like Sleep Powder, (?) Will-O-Wisp, and Leech Seed from the likes of Jumpluff, Mega Gardevoir, and Whismicott are good partners for Aron; (SC) these good partners include Tapu Lele, Mew, Heatran, and Kommo-o. In return, Aron can take down Dragonite and Meloetta. Pokemon that can beat the Common users of abilities that beat Aron like Mold Breaker, Skill Link, and Rough Skin are good partners for Aron because it commonly loses to those. These Pokemon that beat Aron include Mega Gyarados, Excadrill, Haxrous, Mega Heracross, and Garchomp, which Aron commonly loses to; Pokemon that can beat more than half of these Pokemon are Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Greninja. In return, Aron can beat non-Taunt Tapu Lele, non-Substitute Mega Metagross, and Kyurem for them.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Water Pulse can be used to win the mirror matchup versus other Aron; (SC) the high PP and also the confusion and resulting self-hit chance allows allow Aron to have a good chance of winning, being that Water Pulse would be inflicting confusion upon the opponent so that they can have a chance at KOing themselves after being hit with Endeavor while Aron was at max HP in the event that they try to win by PP stalling you and avoid being PP stalled with Taunt. (which is not on the set?)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pokemon Immunities Immune to Endeavor**: Ghost-types and the usage of Plasma Fists, being immune to Endeavor, fully prevent Aron from carrying out its strategy and can effectively beat Aron no matter the set. Common Ghost-type Pokemon in 1v1 are Mega Gengar, Aegislash, and Mega Sableye, while Plasma Fists is used by Zeraora.

**Work-Arounds Workarounds to Sturdy**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker or multi-hit attacks can easily KO Aron due to them bypassing Aron's its Sturdy ability. (RH) Examples of these Pokemon include Mega Gyarados, Haxorus, Excadrill, Mega Heracross, and Excadrill. On another note, any Pokemon that can put Aron to sleep can break its gimmick and just 2HKO or stall out Aron proceeding this. Examples of these Pokemon include Smeargle, Breloom, Mega Venusaur, Jumpluff, Mega Swampert, and Vivillon.

**Residual Damage**: Moves that can cause residual damage at the end of the turn like Leech Seed or and Will-O-Wisp can break Aron's Sturdy, (AC) and then the next turn, after which the opposing Pokemon can KO you Aron with any move, like Mega Venusaur, Celesteela, Serperior, Whimsicott, and Mega Gardevoir, Mega Charizard X, and Victini. Also, the abilities Rough Skin or and Iron Barbs can block Aron from using Endeavor because if it uses it, it'll get hit by it have its Sturdy broken and then subsequently get knocked out by any move. This is mainly used by Garchomp and Ferrothorn.

**Taunt**: Taunt, like sleep, can shut down Aron's moves outside of Endeavor and Metal Burst, leaving it not able unable to perform its gimmick (RP) These and enabling opposing Pokemon are then able to PP stall out Aron with Taunt until it is forced to use Struggle. Examples of common Pokemon that run this move are Tapu Lele, Kommo-o, Tapu Fini, Kee Berry Mew, Victini, Mega Mawile, Mega Tyranitar, and Tapu Bulu. (AP)

**PP Stall**: Pokemon with high-PP status moves (RH) like Metal Sound Magnezone and Celesteela (RC) and Rest Zygarde-C and Registeel can stall out Aron until it runs out of PP with no way of KOing the foe (RC) and make Aron have to it use Struggle.

**Substitute**: Any Pokemon with Substitute, like some of the points ones mentioned above, can negate Aron's gimmick moves due to them being immune to by blocking status, (AC) and when foes are at 25% HP, Endeavor doesn't do no longer does enough damage to break through Substitute. (is this really true? i don't entirely follow it but i also don't rly remember how endeavor interacts with sturdy) Examples of common metagame threats that run Substitute are Torrent Greninja, Mega Metagross, Zygarde, Primarina, and Landorus-T.

**Flinch**: Pokemon which that have the main goals of flinching the opponent to death goal of taking down their foe through flinches have a good chance of winning against Aron due to just one flinch stopping Aron it from performing its gimmick, fully. These Pokemon include Jirachi and Togekiss, mainly. Also, Fake Out is used to flinch you turn one, so if you don't Aron doesn't have Protect, Fake Out users like Mega Medicham or and Mega Lopunny can beat you it.

Endeavor holds this set together and allows Aron to put lower the opposing Pokemon's foe's (for consistency with later change) HP down to 1 in the likely event it the foe (ambiguous) uses an attacking move. Pokemon that Endeavor can beat, alongside other moves, include Dragonite, Victini, and Donphan. (isn't this just listing mons aron beats in general, and if so, shouldn't this go in usage tips?) Sandstorm (RC) after using Endeavor at 1 HP, (repetition) allows Aron to finish off opposing Pokemon after using Endeavor at 1 HP (is "at 1 HP" needed? sandstorm deals 6.25%, which should kill the foe whether they are at 1 hp or 13 hp) (RC) unless they are Steel-, Rock-, or Ground-types. Metal Burst is for the Steel-types, (AC) that which are both immune to both sandstorm and Toxic chip damage; (SC) This helps it guarantees Aron's matchup against offensive Steel-types that are only able to use an attacking moves, like Genesect and Choice Specs Celesteela. Toxic is should be used against foes that are Ground- or Rock-type and (shouldn't this be "or"?) use Counter, like Donphan and Golem, since they're immune to the usual sand. Protect is an option over Toxic in some matchups if you want the potential to win against Pokemon that usually use Fake Out (RC) as just one flinch with Aron will ruin the whole gimmick using Endeavor and, subsequently, Sandstorm or Metal Burst.
