Welcome, one and all, to the greatest semestral spectacle of ASB talent: the ASB Highlight Match! Highlight matches pit two of the top ASB players against each other for all to see! These matches will test the skills of the players chosen, and will give us a chance to see who comes out on top! Best of all, YOU are the one who gets to choose the participants! That's right, you will be voting on who gets to play who in these matches. It's a fun time for both the players and the spectators. You don't want to miss this battle, folks!

Rules:

BATTLE NAME: A Guessing Game

Format: Bring 4, Pick 3 Singles
DQ: 72 Hours
Abilities: All

Substitutions: 3 excluding KO substitutions
Switch: See Special Rule
5 Chills / 2 Recoveries per Pokemon
Mega Evolutions: 1
Z-Moves: 1
Turn Order: Coinflip

Special Rule: Switches are done blindly at the end of each round. After the reffing is posted, each player PMs the ref if they are staying in or switching, including the mon, item, and toggles as necessary. Then the ref posts a new update with the results of the switch PMs, and the battle resumes.
- If only one player switches, then they will order first the following round.
- In the case of a double switch, then turn order resumes as it would have without the switches.
- Trapping/Partial Trapping Moves deny the opponent the option to blind switch.
- Phazing Moves still function as usual, with the result of the phazing move being revealed and equipped/toggled/etc before the blind switches can occur
- If a Self-Switching move is used, only the player that used the move gets to switch. If both players use one, then the blind switching still occurs.

Prizes consist of normal battle counters (that's 2 CC per trainer and 1 EC/3 MC/1 AC or 4 MC and any gained KO Counters per participating Pokemon). The winner receives one of Raikou, Entei, or Suicune as well and, of course, will be recorded as a Highlight Match winner!

Reffing

Anyone that wishes to ref this battle may PM me stating their qualifications to ref. I will choose one ref and one subref to avoid problems if the original ref has a conflict. Referees recieve the heightened rewards for gym battles, to represent the stricter DQ time and exceptional work needed to display.

NEW RULE: Referees will now gain 1.5× Normal Pay from matches to reflect the higher standard of the matches.

So here we have one cancery team from Jayy, and one cute team from Toon. Jayy has Deoxys and Kecleon in his roster, both of which will be quite a pain for Toon's team to handle. Tyranitar would be a nice twist, but unfortunately I can't imagine it being very effective against Toon's lineup. But hey, I could be wrong!

On Toon's side, he brought some niche heavy hitters in Granbull and Haxorus, as well as two potential Mega choices in Blastoise and Lucario. Notably, he has no Pokemon that can set up entry hazards, and only Blastoise to remove hazards. That might work against him in a match that's all about switching. Or maybe this ref just doesn't know what he's talking about...

I'm not sure I've ever seen Solar Ray Lucario in action... or maybe I have and it just didn't leave much of an impression. Let's see what it can do here, but I think this might be a predictable first round.

The battle begins! Toon makes use of Copycat, allowing Deoxys to set up Stealth Rock so that Lucario can copy it next action. Deoxys goes on the offensive, attacking with Psychic for kinda mediocre damage, but then misses with Zen Headbutt. Deoxys-D is sooooo fun, not at all irritating to battle or ref :^)

Lucario then phazes Deoxys out with Circle Throw (good riddance), sending in Porygon-Z as a result! The poor duckbot takes Stealth Rock damage immediately and then boosts its Special Attack with Download. But is it going to stay in? Phazing here was a pretty strong play. Not only does it allow Toon to wrack up Stealth Rock damage, but it also limits Jayy's potential lineup choices. In a BY/PX battle, that can be huge.

Both battlers get ready to potentially switch. Here's where the match starts to get interesting. There's Stealth Rock up on both sides, adding extra pressure to the decision on whether to switch or not. The mindgames we see next should be fun~

Jayy shows off the power of Z-Teleport, getting a massive recovery in while also gaining matchup advantage for the next round. One of Deoxys's Psychics even gets a special defense drop on Blastoise to boot. Still, Blastoise manages to deal quite a bit of damage, and Deoxys now no longer has the option to use a Z-move any more.
