[Balanced Hackmons] Registeel

Wouldn't you just love to have a pet Registeel?

GPs:
[OVERVIEW]
Registeel is a very versatile Pokemon in Balanced Hackmons due to its strong defenses and mono-Steel typing. It can run many supportive and defensive sets effectively and is commonly used as a check to -ate users, as it resists Ice, Flying, and Steel. However, coverage moves, such as V-create, Close Combat, Thousand Arrows, and Magma Storm, can be a problem for Registeel, as it often cannot take super effective hits from the strongest Pokemon in the tier. It competes with Aegislash as a bulky Steel-type wall, but Registeel is bulkier. All in all, Registeel is one of the premier all-around defensive Pokemon of the tier, capable of walling many strong offensive threats as long as they don't have super effective moves.

Moves
========

Entrainment allows Registeel to force Poison Heal users out, as once their ability is switched, they start taking large amounts of damage from poison. Knock Off, on the other hand, has great utility against many types of teams and is especially useful for hitting Mega Gengar, removing Eviolite from Imposter Chansey, and removing Toxic Orb from Poison Heal users, discouraging their teammates from using Aromatherapy or Heal Bell. Baton Pass allows Registeel to easily pivot and bring in a check to a potential switch-in. It also allows Registeel to escape Perish trap or Magnet Pull users. Defog is a must-have on all teams due to entry hazard stacking, and Registeel can use it effectively because it also prevents entry hazards from being set up with Magic Bounce. Aromatherapy allows Registeel to easily heal its team of status ailments, and Recover keeps Registeel healthy so that it can continue to take on offensive threats.

Set Details
========

Leftovers give Registeel passive recovery, which can be useful against foes that would otherwise 2HKO it. Rocky Helmet allows Registeel to punish U-turn users, and generally build up damage on foes that lack recovery. It's especially useful against Mega Rayquaza because Fake Out and Extreme Speed are both contact moves, and if Stealth Rock is set up, Mega Rayquaza's ability to switch in and out is severely limited. The EVs allow Registeel to avoid being 2HKOed by Modest Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza's Boomburst over 90% of the time after Leftovers recovery.

Usage Tips
========

It's always a good idea to scout sets with Imposter Chansey before switching Registeel in, especially against Mega Rayquaza, which often prepares for Registeel with powerful coverage moves. Registeel can switch into just about any non-Mold Breaker Deoxys-S lead, as Magic Bounce lets Registeel bounce back Spore and entry hazards that Deoxys-S throws at it. If you know Registeel walls the foe, it's generally safe to Baton Pass out, predicting the foe's switch. Registeel also loves switching in against physical Poison Heal users, especially Arceus, as it walls most of them and can force them out with Entrainment.

Team Options
========

Imposter Chansey works well with Registeel, as it can scout opposing sets to see if Registeel can wall them. Also, Fur Coat or Poison Heal Giratina complements this set because it resists or is immune to two of Registeel's three weaknesses and is a similarly bulky wall. Sweepers that are walled by Registeel, such as certain Mega Rayquaza or Mega Diancie sets, can also be used as partners without worrying about needing to be Imposter-proof.

[SET]

move 3: Parting Shot / U-turn
move 4: Recover
item: Safety Goggles / Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
ability: Prankster
nature: Impish
evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Topsy-Turvy lets Registeel stop setup sweepers by flipping their stat boosts, rendering them powerless. Destiny Bond gives Registeel an easy way of removing an opposing sweeper if it 2HKOes or otherwise threatens Registeel. Taunt prevents the foe from setting up or otherwise stalling PP. It can force many defensive Pokemon to switch out. Parting Shot gives Registeel the ability to pivot and gain momentum if the foe switches out. It can also phaze Magic Bounce users because when Parting Shot gets bounced back, it forces the opponent to switch, regardless of other trapping effects, such as Ingrain. U-turn is great for slow pivoting, providing safe switches, and effectively making Destiny Bond last two turns. It also allows Registeel to easily escape a situation where it has been Taunted somehow, such as from a Magic Bounce user switching into its Taunt, and provides a small amount of residual damage. Recover lets Registeel shrug off any damage that foes have done to it.

Set Details
========

A physically defensive spread allows Registeel to take very little damage from Fake Out + Extreme Speed from -ate users, and Prankster Recover gives it some leg room when dealing with Boomburst users. Safety Goggles prevents Spore from shutting down this set, allowing Registeel to switch into the move easily. Leftovers gives Registeel a small amount of recovery each turn, cutting burn and Leech Seed damage in half as well as allowing Registeel to wall foes that otherwise 2HKO it. Rocky Helmet forces -ate users to think twice before using Fake Out or Extreme Speed, as the residual damage adds up quickly, especially on sets that lack recovery.

Usage Tips
========

Prankster Registeel can switch into almost any non-super effective attack, so it's a good idea to scout out what moves the foe has with an Imposter user. Registeel doesn't mind Knock Off all that much, so it's generally not the end of the world if it switches into a few of those. After its item is removed, unboosted Knock Off will do next to nothing. It's also worth noting that because Destiny Bond lasts until Registeel moves next, Destiny Bond followed by slow U-turn effectively grants Registeel two turns of Destiny Bond. Registeel is commonly used as a switch-in to -ate users, as it can often Recover off any damage that coverage moves do to it.

Team Options
========

Giratina pairs well with this set because of its typing and bulk, which allow it to take hits that would often KO Registeel. Imposter Chansey can scout out what coverage moves the foe has before determining if Registeel can safely switch in. Additionally, setup sweepers that are Imposter resistant such as Poison Heal Kyogre and Mega Gyarados often have issues with Topsy-Turvy.

[SET]
Name: RegenVest Pivot
move 1: U-turn
move 2: Metal Burst / Clear Smog
move 3: Nuzzle
move 4: Knock Off
item: Assault Vest
ability: Regenerator
nature: Relaxed
evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
ivs: 0 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

A slow U-turn is a terrific move for pivoting and predicting switches. Metal Burst lets Registeel punish attackers such as Kyogre that are able to do a lot of damage but cannot OHKO it. Clear Smog lets Registeel stop setup sweepers and discourage foes from boosting to KO it. Nuzzle allows Registeel to cripple opposing sweepers by reducing their Speed significantly. It pairs well with Knock Off because if an opposing Poison Heal user loses its Toxic Orb to Knock Off, its teammates are discouraged from using Aromatherapy. Knock Off provides other utility as well, easily removing Eviolite or other useful items from your opponent's Pokemon.

Set Details
========

The chosen EVs and nature along with Assault Vest allow Registeel to have very strong mixed defenses, enabling it to take powerful attacks with ease. Its Speed is minimized to underspeed other bulky pivots for momentum gaining with U-turn, and to make Metal Burst go last more often. Alternatively, a more specially defensive spread can be used in order to beat Protean Earth Power users.

Usage Tips
========

This Registeel set can often switch into strong resisted or neutral attacks. Because of this, it works well as a scout for moves for teams without an Imposter user such as Chansey. It also works well as a switch-in to -ate users because it is bulky enough to shrug off their STAB moves and can use Metal Burst against coverage moves. Losing its Assault Vest to Knock Off reduces the bulk of this set significantly, so make sure to play carefully around Pokemon that commonly run this move, such as Yveltal and Mega Tyranitar. When Registeel gets low on health, it's a good idea to use U-turn or switch out so that Regenerator heals it. Additionally, when Registeel is brought in against a foe that it walls, it's often safe to U-turn out, predicting the switch. Knock Off is most useful against Poison Heal users to discourage Aromatherapy and against Chansey to remove its Eviolite. If it has Clear Smog, Registeel can switch into Poison Heal Kyogre often and prevent it from boosting.

Team Options
========

Giratina pairs well with Registeel because its typing complements Registeel's. Generally speaking, this set works well on teams with Pokemon that it walls, because then it's unnecessary to take Imposter users into account when teambuilding.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Registeel can run Levitate or Flash Fire to effectively wall one's own sweepers such as Protean Mewtwo Mega Y from Imposter users. Fur Coat Registeel sees some usage because it's a great wall to just about any physical move in the game. Mail is sometimes a good item for Registeel so that it can't get Tricked a Choice Scarf or Assault Vest. Additionally, Gastro Acid or Entrainment can be used on Prankster variants to destroy Poison Heal users or simply remove abilities that might otherwise be dangerous to your team. Encore or Spore with Safety Goggles are also good options for the Prankster set. Additionally, Sacred Fire can be used on the RegenVest set in order to spread burns, which can be game changing. Additionally, Dragon Tail may be used over Clear Smog, with the trade-off being that it does not work on Fairy-types or the opponent's last Pokemon. Night Shade can be used for more consistent damage as well.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Super Effective Attacks**: Coverage is one of the best ways of dealing with Registeel. Hard-hitting super effective attacks, such as Precipice Blades and Sacred Fire, almost always OHKO or 2HKO Registeel. Contrary sweepers are also quite threatening to Registeel, as they commonly run V-create and Superpower.

**Mega Rayquaza**: Rayquaza can often run coverage moves to deal with Registeel easily, such as Earth Power, Magma Storm, Low Kick, Precipice Blades, and Thousand Arrows.

**Mewtwo Formes**: Mega Mewtwo X can take advantage of its Fighting-type STAB moves to easily deal with Registeel. It can also use Protean and a Ground- or Fire-type move to deal tons of damage. Protean Mega Mewtwo Y can use Earth Power or Magma Storm to OHKO or 2HKO most Registeel sets.

**Mega Gengar**: Mega Gengar is capable of setting up Substitute or Shell Smash against Registeel, which gets it ready to sweep. Some Registeel sets are capable of stopping it with Knock Off, Whirlwind, or Topsy-Turvy, but Mega Gengar is often a good switch-in to Registeel anyway.

**Magic Bounce Users**: Registeel sets that can do anything to Magic Bounce users are few and far between, so Registeel will have to switch out when it sees one most of the time.
**Poison Heal Users**: Registeel can do very little to Poison Heal Users after they've been poisoned, besides forcing them out with Entrainment.

Hey piccolo.

Picture:
  • Center align imo

Overview:
  • Versatile [defensive] Pokemon - unless you plan on giving it some offensive sets
  • (Add to third point)Has difficulty walling the most powerful coverage and neutral attacks because mixed invested defenses are often not enough

Set Magic Bounce:

Usage tips:
  • I would combine the first two points

Set Prankster:

Moves:
  • You have explicitly mentioned U-turn here, so add it as a slash
  • Slow U-turns also effectively make Destiny Bond last two turns, making the two effective together, and also allows it not to be complete Taunt bait against a Magic Bounce switch in
  • Also allows good residual damage on the switch

OO:
  • Mention Regenvest Registeel. If you want to make it a Set3, that is also good, since I think it is good enough to be so
  • (Optional)Gastro Acid is a potential option on Prankster
  • Having a set with a mixed spread as a general "secondary wall" instead of a specialized one would be good, or just mention it here

Verdict:
Simple but solid as steel QC. This is probably my shortest QC check since I can't really think of much more to add. Keep up your steely resolve.

I implemented almost all of your things E4 Flint, I was just wondering what exactly RegenVest Registeel does because I haven't really seen it too much. Depending on what Uselesscrab says, I might make a new set for it. Also is Gasto good for anything else in particular besides Poison Heal?

You can mention it in passing, but it can usually run the uturn/sacred/koff and anything from a movepool of nightshade/metalburst/infestation/nuzzle that you think would be good. Yeah I guess gastro is good for setup ph's but it can also be handy vs switch ins, like an incoming protean/ate that can get you a switch, and helpful against ph's that do not boost (think adrian's ph arc etc). Upto you if you want to include, I'll make that (optional)

"Coverage moves can be a problem for Registeel though, as it often cannot take super effective hits from the strongest Pokemon in the tier" — list a few specific coverage moves.

Set 1: Make it Baton Pass / Defog imo, since Baton Pass is more commonly seen and arguably more viable. Reflect this change in the description. "preventing them from using Aromatherapy" should really be "discouraging their team members from using Aromatherapy." "its ability to switch in and out is severely limited" should be "Mega Rayquaza's ability," so that the subject isn't unclear. "The EVs allow Registeel to live a 252+ Specs Boomburst Mega Rayquaza, which otherwise demolishes this set" is not really correct; it should say "The EVs allow Registeel to avoid the 2HKO after Leftovers recovery from max Special Attack Specs Mega Rayquaza with a Special Attack-increasing nature over 90% of the time" or something like that, since the EVs aren't specifically tailored to do that.

Set 2: I'm not really sure why the opposing sweeper 2HKOing is important for Destiny Bond. I also don't understand why this set isn't also specially defensive. Like, what makes it any different in terms of functionality? It might be a good idea to change it to the same spread as Set 1, but I'll leave this up to you. Add that Spore helps against Mold Breaker Deoxys-Speed leads, especially if Registeel is not running Taunt. In Usage Tips, add a note about the functionality of Destiny Bond + U-turn. In Team Options, be a bit more specific about the setup sweepers that Registeel can counter.

OO: Fur Coat Registeel doesn't really need to have any utility outside of a wall, so I'm not sure about that line. RegenVest can probably stay here, don't worry about making a new set. Mention Encore and Spore (especially with Goggles) for Prankster here. Also, Gastro Acid isn't really better than Entrainment, so you can mention them both.

C&C: Add a mention of Substitute as something that Mega Gengar can do against Registeel, especially the Magic Bounce one. Also, Shell Smash doesn't do anything to KO Registeel directly, so you should rephrase that line. The Magic Bounce Giratina thing seems odd to me; explain what makes Giratina a better check than any other bouncer, or make it more generic and talk about opposing bouncers as a whole. Get rid of the Mega Tyranitar entry; I don't see it as a particularly strong or notable check/counter.

Sorry for this long ass post but I promised I would put together a more detailed post to justify putting RegenVest Registeel as a real set so...

Registeel @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Metal Burst / Clear Smog / Infestation
- Knock Off
- Nuzzle / Sacred Fire

The moves and spread can be up for debate; I commonly use U-Turn / Metal Burst / Knock Off / Nuzzle.

The purpose of this set differs drastically from the other two sets, which is why I am so adamant about giving it an analysis. While the other two sets are meant to take strong, powerful hits repetitively and tackle sweepers head-on, this set plays a very different, much more passive role.

Primarily, it's supposed to be played as a bulky pivot. This set capitalizes upon the fact that Registeel, with its typing and bulk, naturally checks many of the tier's scariest sweepers, and can at least survive a hit from almost anything in the tier. Its job, however, is not to confront the sweepers it switches in against - its just is simply to sponge a hit on the switch in and then slowly U-Turn out, giving a very easy and safe switchin for a teammate. This is a very different kind of playstyle than the other Regis, and fits more offensive frameworks, relying on partners to overpower the opponent quickly and capitalize upon momentum as opposed to trying to use Registeel to beat the opponents itself. Thus, Regenerator is vital to this set, as Registeel has no time to heal itself up, and must rely on passive healing.

There are multiple reasons why this set works. The first lies in Registeel itself - with its pure Steel-typing, it resists the STABs of so many common -ate and general powerhouse attackers that damage taken is reduced so much that Regenerator actually becomes viable. Pokemon that simply can't deal more than 33% to Registeel with a STAB move will simply never beat it, as, it has enough bulk to tank even strong coverage moves so it can U-Turn out, recover a little bit, and safely switch in a bigger threat.

Another reason why this set works is because it easily maintains offensive momentum at very little cost. Other Registeels actually have to stay in or they lose their purpose, and, because you can't ever fit everything onto one Regi set, there is always a large possibility that switching Regi in will be punished, especially since it has very little offensive presence. With RegenVest, you can steal momentum by switching into your own more threatening sweeper, turning the tide. You don't even always have to use U-Turn - you can beat resisted coverage moves, while Regenerator heals off the resisted marginal damage that Registeel took as it switched in.

This set is all about instantaneous survival - you just need to tank one, or maybe two neutral / super effective moves max, and then switch out. Assault Vest is used for this exact purpose, and to further reduce damage taken from special attacks, making Regi's Regenerator heal even more, proportionally. Sure, you may not be able to tank two Protean MMY Magma Storms, but at least you can tank one, and then U-Turn out. You may not be able to tank two Overheats from Contrary whatevermon, but at least you can tank one, and then U-Turn out. The idea of Regen + U-Turn makes Registeel a great switch in to unpredictable bulky mons, too.

As for the set itself, U-Turn is obvious, and Volt Switch is significantly worse so it's not worth mentioning. Metal Burst lets you check things like Proteans that think they can just 2HKO you, Clear Smog destroys setup attempts, and Infestation traps supporters. Knock Off is pretty staple here in my opinion, giving Regi an advantage against other bulkymons. Nuzzle is really useful to punish and paralyze other sweepers, while Sacred Fire can be used for the burn chance.

Oh also Im not aware of anything super significant that the spread can be used for, but it gives some pretty good general bulk for Registeel. With that, it can tank some pretty hard hits, including 252 Protean Magma Storm from MMY (and, thus, any special RayMega set), and shrugs off Boombursts incredibly easily. Assault Vest allows it to survive a 3HKO from 252 Spooky Plate Protean MMY Judgment, and everything weaker (like Mega Gengar). It allows Registeel to always survive Judgment + Magma Storm combo, provided you U-Turn before residual damage, and it even gives a decent chance of surviving Judgment + Secret Sword combo. Assault Vest also puts various other common attacks into easy Regenerator range, such as 252 Sky Plate Boomburst and 252 Pixie Plate Boomburst (allowing this Regi to check -ates just as well, which is vital since -ates are harder to offensively overpower).

All in all it's a great set that has a unique playstyle and role, and deserves an analysis.

QC 2/2
Over a month later, and I finally implemented this. Sorry for taking so long. Anyways to respond to a few points here:
The reason the opposing sweeper 2hkoing is important for DBond is because otherwise Registeel could just spam recovery. If it 2hkos though, then Registeel will eventually be KO'd, especially if it's like 70-80%. Destiny Bond can only be used successfully once, so it probably shouldn't be used against things that can't 2hko it because it can just recover off any damage done.
The reason Set 2 isn't SpDef like the other one is because Registeel can now Recover off the damage done by Specs Boomburst Ray fairly easily, so it doesn't matter that it's just barely a 2hko.

The rest is implemented now.

I also added a RegenVest set, per E4 Flint and Electrolyte's suggestions (but I modified the set a bit). Can Uselesscrab and E4 Flint just double check that part of the analysis to make sure I didn't mess anything up terribly? Thanks. I'll mark it as GP-ready when that's done. (Just write on my wall or pm me on Showdown or something if it's good)

(For regenvest)
Usage tips:
  • (After/with ates) this registeel can often be used as a blind switch in to a threat as a way of scouting and absorbing damage without risking or having imposter on the team (thus including ates)
OO
  • Sacred fire for spreading burn
  • Dragon tail for phasing
  • Night shade for consistent damage
  • (Optional) Infestation can be useful to keep in certain opponents or defeat shed
  • A more special defensive build can be used to counteract protean users with earth power
Checks and Counters
  • Poison heal: regi can at best phase sweepers but take damage in the process and can do little to nothing to utility users once the orb has been activated
The reason I said before that you can make this set OO as I explained to electrolyte today as well, is that while this set is good enough to be there, I'm not sure I have seen it being actually used besides myself. I'm not exactly sure how much actual usage of sets should weigh in on our qc checks. Perhaps unfixable or Eevee General can shed some insight on this as it will also help in qc checks going forward. The way that I have been doing qc so far is factoring in general usage for sets because I don't want to bias my analyses by only what I think is good or what only I have run.

Thanks. Sorry if my format is a bit off this time, doing this on my phone.

Edit: in your strong fire tab I would also mention contrary either in there or as a separate point as almost all these regi sets can do nothing to contrary and the general accompanying v-create or superpower

Go ahead and send it to GP, I don't have much to say besides what Flint said. Put this:
  • A more special defensive build can be used to counteract protean users with earth power
in set details rather than OO, though.

edit: just saw flint's question about usage. Honestly, I think if our goal is to put the most viable sets, there's no reason why we can't put something fairly uncommon that is nevertheless extremely useful.

[OVERVIEW]
Registeel is a very versatile Pokemon in Balanced Hackmons due to its strong defenses and mono-(+Hyphen)Steel typing. It can run many support and defensive sets effectively and is commonly used as a check to the -ates moves, as it resists all of them. However, coverage moves, such as V-Create, Close Combat, Thousand Arrows, and Magma Storm, can be a problem for Registeel though, as it often cannot take super effective hits from the strongest Pokemon in the tier. It competes with Aegislash as a bulky Steel-type wall, but is bulkier. All in all, Registeel is one of the premier all-(+Hyphen)around defensive Pokemon of the tier, capable of walling many strong offensive threats as long as they don't have super effective moves.

Entrainment allows Registeel to force Poison Healers Pokemon out, as, once their abilities are switched, they start taking large amounts of damage from the poison effect.(+Per), whereas Knock Off, on the other hand, has great utility against many types of teams, and is especially useful to hit against Gengar-Mega. Knock Off is especially useful Mega Gengar, for removing to remove Eviolite from Chanseys,(AC) or taking to remove Toxic Orbs from off of Poison Healers Pokemon, discouraging their teammates from using Aromatherapy or Heal Bell. Baton Pass allows for easy pivoting to bring in a check for a Registeel switchin. It also allows Registeel to escape Perish Trappers Pokemon or Magnet Pull users. Defog is a must-have on all teams due to entry hazard stacking, and Registeel can use it effectively because it also prevents removes entry hazards from being set up reflected with Magic Bounce. Aromatherapy allows Registeel to easily heal its team of status and function as a cleric, and Recover keeps Registeel healthy so it can continue to take on offensive threats.

Set Details
========

Leftovers give Registeel slow recovery, which can be useful against things that just barely 2HKO it. Rocky Helmet allows Registeel to punish U-Turn users, as well as just generally building up damage on things that have no recovery. It's especially useful against Mega Rayquaza, because Fake Out and Extreme Speed are both contact, and if Stealth Rocks are is set up, Rayquaza-Mega Mega Rayquaza's ability to switch in and out is severely limited. The EVs allow Registeel to avoid being 2HKOd by Mega Rayquaza's 252+ SpA Specs Boomburst Mega Rayquaza over 90% of the time after Leftovers recovery.

Usage Tips
========

It's always a good idea to scout sets with Imposter Chansey before switching Registeel in, especially against Mega Rayquaza-Mega (because it often prepares for Registeel with hard-hitting powerful coverage moves). Registeel can switch into just about any non-Mold Breaker Deoxys Speed lead, as it bounces back any Spores or and entry hazards that it throws at Registeel. If you know Registeel walls your opponent's set, it's generally safe to Baton Pass out, predicting the opponent's switch. Registeel especially also loves switching in against physical Poison Healers Pokemon, especially Arceus, as it walls most of them and can force them out with Entrainment.

Team Options
========

Imposter Chansey works well with Registeel as it can scout out sets to see if Registeel can wall them. Also, Fur Coat or Poison Heal Giratina complements this set because it resists or is immune to 2 two of Registeel's 3 three weaknesses and is a similarly bulky wall. Sweepers that are walled by Registeel, such as certain Mega Rayquaza or Mega Diancie sets, can also be added as partners without worrying about needing to be Imposter-proof.

Moves

Topsy-Turvy lets Registeel stop setup sweepers by flipping their stats, rendering them usepowerless. Destiny Bond gives Registeel an easy way of removing an opponent's sweeper if they 2HKO or otherwise threaten it. Taunt prevents the opponent from setting up or otherwise stalling PP. It can force many defensive Pokemon to switch out. Parting Shot gives Registeel the ability to pivot and gain momentum if its opponent switches out. It can also phase Magic Bouncers, because when Parting Shot gets bounced back, it forces the opponent to switch (regardless of other trapping like Ingrain). U-Turn is great for slow pivoting and safe switches, as well as effectively making Destiny Bond last two turns. It also allows Registeel to easily escape a situation where it has been Taunted somehow (possibly from a Magic Bounce user switching into its Taunt) as well as providinges a small amount of residual damage. Finally, Recover lets Registeel shrug off any damage that opponents have done to it.

(Comments on this section: Isn't Impish better as an ability so U-Turn hits for more damage? Also, this section should have a small explanation for the EV spread)
A physically defensive spread allows Registeel to take very little damage from Fake Out + Extreme Speed from -ate users, and Prankster Recover gives some leg room when dealing with Boomburst. Safety Goggles prevent Spore from shutting down this set, on the switch or otherwise. Leftovers gives Registeel a small amount of recovery each turn, cutting burn or Leech Seed damage in half as well as allowing Registeel to wall things that barely 2HKO it. Rocky Helmet forces -ate users to think twice before using Fake Out or Extreme Speed, as the residual damage adds up quickly, especially on sets that lack recovery.(+Period)

Usage Tips
========

Prankster Registeel can switch into almost any non Super Effective non-super effective attack, so it's a good idea to scout out what moves the opponent has with an Imposter user. Registeel doesn't mind Knock Off all that much, so it's generally not the end of the world if it switches into a few of those. After its item is removed, unboosted Knock Off will do next to nothing. It's also worth noting that, because Destiny Bond lasts until it moves next, Destiny Bond + slow U-Turn allows Registeel to effectively have two turns of Destiny Bond. This Pokemon is commonly used as an -ate switchin, as it can often Recover off any damage that coverage moves do to it.

Team Options
========

Giratina fits well with this set because of its typing and bulk, which that allow it to take hits that would often KO Registeel. Imposter Chansey lets one scout out what coverage moves the opponent has before determining if Registeel can safely switch in. Additionally, setup sweepers that are Imposter-(+Hyphen)resistant (such as Poison Healers Pokemon like Kyogre and Mega Gyarados Mega) often have issues with Topsy-Turvy.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

A slow U-Turn is a terrific move for pivoting and predicting switches. Metal Burst lets Registeel punish attackers such as Kyogre that are able to do a lot of damage but cannot OHKO. Clear Smog lets Registeel stop setup sweepers and discourage things from boosting to KO this Pokemon. Nuzzle allows Registeel to cripple opposing sweepers by reducing their Speed significantly until they can use Aromatherapy. (Not relevant) It pairs well with Knock Off, because if an opposing Poison Healer user loses its Toxic Orb to Knock Off, the opponent is discouraged from using Aromatherapy. Knock Off provides other utility as well, easily removing Eviolite or other useful items from your opponent's Pokemon.

Set Details
========

The chosen EVs and nature, along with the Assault Vest, allow Registeel to have very strong mixed defenses, capable of taking powerful attacks with ease. Its Speed is minimum to underspeed other bulky pivots, as well as making Metal Burst go last more often. Alternatively, a more specially defensive spread can be used in order to beat Protean Earth Power.

Usage Tips
========

This Registeel set can often switch into strong resisted or even neutral attacks (but not always Super Effective ones). Because of this, it works well as a scout for moves for teams without an Imposter user like Chansey. It also works well as an -ate switchin because it is bulky enough to shrug off the -ate-boosted moves and can Metal Burst against coverage moves. Being hit with Knock Off does reduce the viability bulk of this set significantly, because it loses about a third of its Special Defense. When Registeel gets low on health, it's a good idea to use U-Turn or switch out so that Regenerator heals it. Also, when Registeel is brought in against something that it walls, it's often safe to U-Turn out, predicting the switch. Knock Off is most useful against Poison Healers Pokemon to discourage Aromatherapy,(RC) and against Chansey to remove its Eviolite. If it has Clear Smog, Registeel can switch into Poison Heal Kyogre often, and prevent it from boosting.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Registeel can run sets with Levitate or Flash Fire to effectively wall sweepers ((-Parenth)such as Protean Mewtwo Mega Y)(-Parenth) from Imposter users. Fur Coat Registeel sees some usage, because it's a great wall to just about any physical move in the game. In terms of items, Mail is sometimes a good item for Registeel so it can't get Tricked a Choice Scarf or Assault Vest. Additionally, Gastro Acid or Entrainment can be used on the Prankster variants to destroy Poison Healers users, or just remove abilities that might otherwise damage your team. Encore or Spore with Safety Goggles are also good options for the Prankster set. Also, Sacred Fire can be ran used on the RegenVest set in order to spread burns, which can be game-changing. Additionally, Dragon Tail may be ran used over Clear Smog, with the tradeoff being that it does not work on Fairy types or the opponent's last Pokemon. Night Shade can be used for more consistent damage, as well.

Checks and Counters
===================
(I'm going to reorganize the order of these tabs for clarity. What Registeel fears more is coverage attacks, and not necessarily Rayquaza or Mewtwo itself (heck, most people would consider Registeel a check to MRay, not the other way around))

**Strong Fire, Ground, or Fighting Super Effective Attacks**: Coverage is one of the best ways of dealing with Registeel. Hard-hitting Powerful super effective attacks, such as Precipice Blades or Sacred Fire, almost always OHKO or O-or-2HKO Registeel. Contrary sweepers are also quite threatening to Registeel, as they run V-Create and Superpower commonly.
**Mega Rayquaza**: Rayquaza can often run coverage to deal with Registeel easily, such as Earth Power, Magma Storm, Low Kick, Precipice Blades, or Thousand Arrows.(+Period)
**Mega Mewtwo X**: This Pokemon can take advantage of its Fighting-type STAB to easily deal with Registeel. It can also use Protean and a Ground-(+Hyph) or Fire-type move to deal tons of damage as well.(+Per)
**Mega Mewtwo Y**: This Pokemon can use Protean Earth Power or Protean Magma Storm to OHKO or 2HKO most Registeel sets.(+Per)
**Mega Gengar**: Mega Gengar is capable of setting up Substitutes or Shell Smashes against Registeel, which gets it ready to sweep. Some Registeels are capable of stopping this,(RC) with Knock Off, Whirlwind, or Topsy-Turvy, but it Mega Gengar is often a good switchin to this Pokemon.(+Per)
**Magic Bounce Users**: Registeels that can do anything to Magic Bouncers users are few and far between, and most of the time, Registeel will switch out when it sees one.(+Per)
**Poison Healers Users**: Registeel can do very little to Poison Healers Pokemon after their orb status has been set up besides forcing them out with Entrainment.

Implemented, except for
Defog is a must-have on all teams due to entry hazard stacking, and Registeel can use it effectively because it also prevents removes entry hazards from being set up reflected with Magic Bounce.
What I was trying to say here is that Registeel bounces back hazards and can Defog at the same time. Without Mold Breaker, hazards can not be set up on Regi's side of the field when Regi is in because of its ability, so it makes a good Defog user because it also blocks hazards. What should I put here?

To respond to your comments:
Isn't Impish better as an ability so U-Turn hits for more damage? Also, this section should have a small explanation for the EV spread
Good point with the Impish thing, changed that. What else is there to say about the EV spread? I mentioned that it's physically defensive and why I did that.

I see now what you intended to mean and it's fine. I misinterpreted what you meant in the first line. Just change the "hazards" mentions to "entry hazards" and you're good there.

I also read over your EV descriptions and decided that they are good enough. They dont literally explain every EV for every stat, which is what I (and probably most other GP checkers) are used to seeing, but they still, at least, convey the right meaning.

Nice work! Id give you a fancy stamp gif but mine is still in the works ...

[OVERVIEW]
Registeel is a very versatile Pokemon in Balanced Hackmons due to its strong defenses and mono-Steel typing. It can run many supportive and defensive sets effectively and is commonly used as a check to the -ate moves users, as it resists all of them Ice, Flying, and Steel. However, coverage moves, such as V-Create V-create, Close Combat, Thousand Arrows, and Magma Storm, can be a problem for Registeel, as it often cannot take super effective hits from the strongest Pokemon in the tier. It competes with Aegislash as a bulky Steel-type wall, but Registeel is bulkier. All in all, Registeel is one of the premier all-around defensive Pokemon of the tier, capable of walling many strong offensive threats as long as they don't have super effective moves.

Entrainment allows Registeel to force Poison Heal Pokemon users out, as, (RC) once their abilities are switched ability is changed, they start taking large amounts of damage from the poison effect. Knock Off, on the other hand, has great utility against many types of teams, (RC) and is especially useful for to hitting Mega Gengar, to remove removing Eviolite from Imposter Chansey, or to remove and removing Toxic Orbs from Poison Heal pokemon users, discouraging their teammates from using Aromatherapy or Heal Bell. Baton Pass allows for easy pivoting to Registeel to easily pivot and bring in a check for a Registeel to a potential switch-(AH)in. It also allows Registeel to escape Perish Trap Pokemon trap or Magnet Pull users. Defog is a must-have on all teams due to entry hazard stacking, and Registeel can use it effectively because it also prevents entry hazards from being set up with Magic Bounce. Aromatherapy allows Registeel to easily heal its team of status ailments and function as a cleric (redundant), and Recover keeps Registeel healthy so that it can continue to take on offensive threats.

Set Details
========

Leftovers give Registeel slow passive recovery, which can be useful against things foes that just barely would otherwise 2HKO it. Rocky Helmet allows Registeel to punish U-Turn U-turn users, as well as just and generally building up damage on things foes that have no recovery. It's especially useful against Mega Rayquaza, (RC) because Fake Out and Extreme Speed are both contact moves, and if Stealth Rock is set up, Mega Rayquaza's ability to switch in and out is severely limited. The EVs allow Registeel to avoid being 2HKOed by Modest Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza's 252+ SpA Specs Boomburst over 90% of the time after Leftovers recovery.

Usage Tips
========

It's always a good idea to scout sets with Imposter Chansey before switching Registeel in, especially against Mega Rayquaza, which (because it often prepares for Registeel with powerful coverage moves). Registeel can switch into just about any non-Mold Breaker Deoxys-(AH)Speed lead, as Magic Bounce lets Registeel it bounces back Spore and entry hazards that it Deoxys-S throws at Registeel it. If you know Registeel walls your opponent's set the foe, it's generally safe to Baton Pass out, predicting the opponent's foe's switch. Registeel also loves switching in against physical Poison Heal Pokemon users, especially Arceus, as it walls most of them and can force them out with Entrainment.

Team Options

Imposter Chansey works well with Registeel, (AC) as it can scout out opposing sets to see if Registeel can wall them. Also, Fur Coat or Poison Heal Giratina complements this set because it resists or is immune to two of Registeel's three weaknesses and is a similarly bulky wall. Topsy-Turvy lets Registeel stop setup sweepers by flipping their stats boosts, rendering them powerless. Destiny Bond gives Registeel an easy way of removing an opponent's opposing sweeper if they it 2HKOes or otherwise threatens Registeel it. Taunt prevents the opponent foe from setting up or otherwise stalling PP. It can force many defensive Pokemon to switch out. Parting Shot gives Registeel the ability to pivot and gain momentum if its opponent the foe switches out. It can also phase phaze Magic Bouncers, users because when Parting Shot gets bounced back, it forces the opponent foe to switch (regardless of other trapping effects, such as like Ingrain). U-Turn U-turn is great for slow pivoting, (AC) and providing safe switches, as well as and effectively making Destiny Bond last two turns. It also allows Registeel to easily escape a situation where it has been Taunted somehow, such as (possibly from a Magic Bounce user switching into its Taunt, and) as well as provides a small amount of residual damage. Finally, Recover lets Registeel shrug off any damage that opponents foes have done to it.

Fur Coat Registeel sees some usage, (RC) because it's a great wall to just about any physical move in the game. In terms of items, Mail is sometimes a good item for Registeel so that it can't get Tricked a Choice Scarf or Assault Vest. Additionally, Gastro Acid or Entrainment can be used on the Prankster variants to destroy Poison Heal users, (RC) or just simply remove abilities that might otherwise damage be dangerous to your team. Encore or Spore with Safety Goggles are also good options for the Prankster set. Also, Sacred Fire can be used on the RegenVest set in order to spread burns, which can be game-changing. Additionally, Dragon Tail may be used over Clear Smog, with the trade-(AH)off being that it does not work on Fairy-(AH)types or the opponent's last Pokemon. Night Shade can be used for more consistent damage, (RC) as well.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Super Effective Attacks**: Coverage is one of the best ways of dealing with Registeel. Hard-hitting super effective attacks, such as Precipice Blades or and Sacred Fire, almost always OHKO or 2HKO Registeel. Contrary sweepers are also quite threatening to Registeel, as they commonly run V-Create V-create and Superpower commonly.
(line break)
**Mega Rayquaza**: Rayquaza can often run coverage moves to deal with Registeel easily, such as Earth Power, Magma Storm, Low Kick (Regi's that heavy?), Precipice Blades, or and Thousand Arrows.
(line break)
**Mega Mewtwo X Mewtwo Formes**: This Pokemon Mega Mewtwo X can take advantage of its Fighting-type STAB moves to easily deal with Registeel. It can also use Protean and a Ground- or Fire-type move to deal tons of damage as well. Protean Mega Mewtwo Y can use Earth Power or Magma Storm to OHKO or 2HKO most Registeel sets.
(line break)

**Mega Mewtwo Y**: This Pokemon can use Protean Earth Power or Protean Magma Storm to OHKO or 2HKO most Registeel sets.

**Mega Gengar**: Mega Gengar is capable of setting up Substitute or Shell Smash against Registeel, which gets it ready to sweep. Some Registeel sets are capable of stopping this it with Knock Off, Whirlwind, or Topsy-Turvy, but Mega Gengar is often a good switch-(AH)in to this Pokemon Registeel anyway.
(line break)
**Magic Bounce Users**: Registeels sets that can do anything to Magic Bounce users are few and far between, and most of the time, so Registeel will switch out when it sees one most of the time.
(line break)

**Poison Heal users Users**: Registeel can do very little to Poison Healers Users after their status has they've been poisoned set up besides forcing them out with Entrainment.

Because this needed quite a few edits and you're missing the Team Options section for the third set, I'm going to request a third check on this one.

Implemented, thanks so much! Ready for 3rd and final GP!

To respond to your question about Low Kick, yes, Registeel is very heavy.

[OVERVIEW]
Registeel is a very versatile Pokemon in Balanced Hackmons due to its strong defenses and mono-Steel typing. It can run many supportive and defensive sets effectively and is commonly used as a check to -ate users, as it resists Ice, Flying, and Steel. However, coverage moves (RC) such as V-create, Close Combat, Thousand Arrows, and Magma Storm (RC) can be a problem for Registeel, as it often cannot take super effective hits from the strongest Pokemon in the tier. It competes with Aegislash as a bulky Steel-type wall, but Registeel is bulkier. All in all, Registeel is one of the premier all-around defensive Pokemon of the tier, capable of walling many strong offensive threats as long as they don't have super effective moves.

Moves
========

It also allows Registeel to escape Perish trap ("Perish trapping" or "Perish Song <users>", can't really read which one you mean) or Magnet Pull users.

Set Details
========

Leftovers gives Registeel passive recovery, which can be useful against foes that would otherwise 2HKO it. Rocky Helmet allows Registeel to punish U-turn users(RC) and generally build up damage on foes that lack recovery.

Usage Tips
========

========

Imposter Chansey works well with Registeel, as it can scout opposing sets to see if Registeel can wall them. Also Additionally, Fur Coat or Poison Heal Giratina complements this set because it resists or is immune to two of Registeel's three weaknesses and is a similarly bulky wall. Sweepers that are walled by Registeel, such as certain Mega Rayquaza or Mega Diancie sets, can also be used as partners without worrying about needing to be Imposter proof. (remove hyphen)

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

It's also worth noting that because Destiny Bond lasts until Registeel moves next, Destiny Bond followed by slow U-turn allows Registeel to effectively have grants Registeel two turns of Destiny Bond. Registeel is commonly used as a switch-in to -ate users, as it can often Recover off any damage that coverage moves do to it.

Team Options
========

Giratina fits pairs well with this set because of its typing and bulk, which allow it to take hits that would often KO Registeel. Imposter Chansey can scout out what coverage moves the foe has before determining if Registeel can safely switch in. Additionally, setup sweepers that are Imposter resistant (remove hyphen) such as Poison Heal Kyogre and Mega Gyarados often have issues with Topsy-Turvy.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

The chosen EVs and nature along with Assault Vest allow Registeel to have very strong mixed defenses, capable of taking enabling it to take powerful attacks with ease. Its Speed is minimum minimized to underspeed other bulky pivots for momentum gaining with U-turn (RC) and to make Metal Burst go last more often. Alternatively, a more specially defensive spread can be used in order to beat Protean Earth Power users.

Usage Tips
========

Being hit with Losing its Assault Vest to Knock Off does reduces the bulk of this set significantly, removing about one third of its Special Defense. (this isn't a usage tip--adding something generic like "so make sure to play carefully around Pokemon that commonly run this move, such as X and Y" should work fine enough though) When Registeel gets low on health, it's a good idea to use U-turn or switch out so that Regenerator heals it. Also Additionally, when Registeel is brought in against a foe that it walls, it's often safe to U-turn out, predicting the switch. Knock Off is most useful against Poison Heal users to discourage Aromatherapy and against Chansey to remove its Eviolite. If it has Clear Smog, Registeel can switch into Poison Heal Kyogre often and prevent it from boosting.

Team Options
