This Shell Smashing sweeper is one of the most dangerous threats in RU, being able to single-handedly crush teams that allow it to set up. Barbaracle's Tough Claws-boosted Liquidation and powerful Continental Crush allow it to break through many of the physically defensive Pokemon it runs into, such as Milotic, Mega Steelix, and Mandibuzz. Outspeeding nearly everything in the tier after a Shell Smash, including common Choice Scarf users like Tyrantrum, Flygon, and Gardevoir, Barbaracle is difficult to revenge kill and even more difficult to wall. Low Kick hits Pokemon like Bewear and Virizion, and Substitute allows Barbaracle to ease prediction and protect it from status conditions and priority attacks from the likes of Bronzong and Golisopod. The best Barbaracle checks are Pokemon like Quagsire, Bewear, and Toxicroak, but almost any Pokemon can be beaten with the appropriate coverage move or a boosted Continental Crush. Barbaracle has decent bulk that allows it to set up relatively easily, but it appreciates the assistance of things like Memento Gardevoir to ensure it survives long enough to use Shell Smash.
