Choice Scarf (Basculegion) @ Choice Scarf

Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Grass
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Last Respects
- Flip Turn / Tera Blast
- Aqua Jet / Tera Blast
[SET COMMENTS]
- This set aims to move fast with Choice Scarf and hit hard with its Water- and Ghost-type STAB moves boosted by Adaptability.
- Wave Crash is Basculegion-M's strongest damage-dealing Water type attack. Last Respects is Basculegion-M's strongest Ghost-type attack which deals increased damage late-game. Tera Blast provides Basculegion-M with coverage for example Tera Grass allows it to threaten Water-types such as Primarina. Flip Turn is a good utility move, switching Basculegion-M out so you can take less damage. Aqua Jet is a good move to take knockouts on low health targets.
- A Water Tera type is best used to increase the damage of moves such as Wave Crash and Flip Turn. However, you keep your weakness to Grass- and Electric-Type attacks such as Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide and Archaludon’s Electro Shot, both of which threaten knockouts. Additionally, Tera Water removes your weaknesses to Ghost- and Dark-type attacks such as Shadow Ball from Gholdengo and Sucker Punch from Kingambit. A Grass Tera Type is best used as a defensive Tera type, gaining immunity to powder moves such as Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss, resisting Grass- and Electric-type attacks from pokemon such as Rillaboom and Electabuzz, and removing weaknesses to Ghost- and Dark-type attacks similarly to Tera Water.
- This set is less flexible than the Rain Sweeper Set. Choice Scarf sets do less damage to the enemy and are locked into a single move. For example, Last Respects before it is boosted does little damage to opponent pokemon while unboosted, Last Respects only has a small chance to 4HKO Archaludon and it requires at least 200 base power to achieve an OHKO. While this set is slower and not as strong as the rain sweeper set, it is not as reliant on Rain to be fast and sweep.

[SET]
Rain Sweeper (Basculegion-M) @ Choice Band / Life Orb / Mystic Water
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Grass
EVs: Stats: 180 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 68 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Last Respects
- Aqua Jet
- Flip Turn / Protect
[SET COMMENTS]
- This Basculegion-M set focuses on utilizing rain to increase its speed through its ability Swift Swim and deal massive rain-boosted damage.
- Wave Crash does massive damage with the rain no matter which item you are running. Aqua Jet allows you to finish off pokemon that have low HP such as a Focus Sash Sneasler. Flip Turn allows you to pivot out for good utility. Last Respects is its best Ghost-Type attack.
- Choice Band, Life Orb and Mystic Water all increase Basculegion-M's damage. Choice Band provides the greatest increase allowing Baculegion-M to OHKO Pelipper with Wave Crash while rain is active. Life Orb has a high chance to achieve this KO although it is not guaranteed and Mystic Water has a low chance to achieve this.
- With the speed EVs, when rain is up, you outspeed Jolly Dragapult. With the HP investment, you can live a Grassy Glide from most Rillabooms. In addition, you also live one Scale Shot from Dragonite, Tera-Stellar Throat Chop from Adamant Sneasler, and Shadow Balls from many Nasty Plot Gholdengos.
- Outside of the rain, not only will Basculegion-M be much slower, but it will also deal a lot less damage. As a result, it becomes incredibly reliant on rain. On the flip side, in the rain, it can get a ton of one hit knockouts on a lot of the pokemon in the format. Depending on the item, this set is a lot more flexible with the exception of the Choice Band version. However, with the Choice Band set, you always deal a lot more damage as well as have a bit more speed than the Choice Scarf set in the rain. However, as you are very reliant on the rain, if you play into an opposing weather team, if you can not keep the rain up, the Choice Scarf set is much better.

============
- Overall, Basculegion-M is an extremely scary pokemon to match into if you do not have any counterplay. You will most likely see your pokemon get deleted in one or two hits. Once you knock out all the pokemon that may resist Basculegion-M's attacks, you can deal so much damage and sweep teams. As a result, it fits well onto teams that can threaten Water and Grass types. Basculegion-M sees the most usage on Rain Teams.
- Pokemon such as Pelipper can set the rain for Basculegion-M, increasing its damage. Other pokemon that can defeat counters such as RIllaboom and Kingambit, both of whom can KO it before it can attack, can be extremely beneficial for Basculegion-M. An example of one such pokemon is Sneasler, who can defeat RIllaboom with Dire Claw and Kingambit with Close Combat. Additionally, support pokemon such as Incineroar and Amoonguss are also often found paired with Basculegion-M. Incineroar can slow down opposing Rillabooms with Intimidate and Parting Shot while Amoonguss can use Rage Powder and Spore to shut down Kingambit Sucker Punches. Archaludon is also a good partner as it can use Electro Shot to threaten Water Types such as Primarina.
- The main weakness of Basculegion-M is the reliance on Rain for the Swift Swim sets and its lack of flexibility for the Choice Scarf sets as well as priority moves for both sets. To cover these weaknesses, you can use another member of the team to defeat the opposing weather setter before cleaning up with Basculegion-M. You can do this by leading your Basculegion and swapping in your rain setter to cancel out the opponent's weather setter and KO it since Basculegion can OHKO almost every weather setter used in VGC. For the Choice Scarf sets, if you can save it for the late game to clean up battles, it becomes extremely effective. As priority attacks tend to be weaker or in the case of Sucker Punch do not work against redirection moves. A Clefable's Follow Me or an Amoonguss's Rage Powder can help protect your Basculegion-M. However, as the main priority attacking threats for Basculegion are immune to Rage Powder like Rillaboom and Safety Goggles Kingambit , Follow Me is much preferred.
Strategy Comments
============
- Basculegion-M is a terrifying sweeper, especially under rain. Last Respects allows Basculegion to clean up in the end game as well.
- For the Rain Sweeper Basculegion-M, you want to see if the opponent has counters such as opposing weather or pokemon such as Rillaboom and Kingambit. If they do not, using it as a lead can be extremely effective. You can pivot it out with Flip Turn sometimes getting a knockout then use Last Respects to close out battles in the late-game. Another way to use the Rain set is to just deal massive damage with Wave Crash, getting one hit knockouts on many pokemon. On the other hand, Choice Scarf Basculegion-Ms are best to close out games. However, you can still do big damage in the early-game.
- To counter Basculegion-M, speed control invalidates the speed gained by Choice Scarf or Swift Swim, removing one of its greatest advantages in a battle. This can include Talonflame's Tailwind, Indeedee's Trick Room, and moves like Tatsugiri's Icy Wind or Electabuzz's Electroweb. In addition, priority attacks are very strong against Basculegion-M. For example, a Sucker Punch from Kingambit or Grassy Glide from Rillaboom can quickly deal with Basculegion-M before it even can attack. However, Terastallizing or using Follow Me can help Basculegion-M beat such threats.

[SET COMMENTS]
- Overview: Remove all of these headings This set aims to be fast and hit hard with its Water- and Ghost-type STAB moves boosted by Adaptability such as Wave Crash and boosted Last Respects.
- Key Moves: Wave Crash is your main move with a high 120 Base Power, Dex info dealing high and consistent Water-type damage with some recoil. Last Respects begins as a weak 50 Base Power move but gains 50 more for each time a member of your team dies. This maxes out at 5050 but realistically will only be up to 200 base power in an average VGC match. Even then, it is one of the strongest attacks in the format. First sentence is dex info and the rest doesn't need to be this complex, better to say something like "Last Respects is Basculegion-M's strongest Ghost-type attack which deals increased damage late-game." instead This move allows Basculegion to be used as an effective cleaner. If you use Grass Tera type, you can also use Tera Blast for more coverage into water types that may resist your Wave Crashes. This reads weirdly, rephrase it to something like "Tera Blast provides Basculegion-M with coverage for example Tera Grass allows it to threaten Water-types." Flip Turn is a good utility move, switching Basculegion-M out so you can do plays like switching in an Intimidate user. Basculegion-M is quite frail so it likes to switch out with Flip Turn to take less damage Aqua Jet is a good move to guarantee knockouts on low health targets. Finally, Phantom Force is an alternative to Last Respects before it gets boosted. Just be careful that it is a two turn move, so it does not deal immediate damage.
- Tera Type Considerations: A Water Tera type is best used to increase the damage of moves such as Wave Crash and Flip Turn. However, you keep your weakness to Grass- and Electric-Type moves such as Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide and Archaludon’s Electro Shot, both of which threaten knockouts. Mention how Tera Water removes Basculegion-M's weakness to Dark-type attacks such as Sucker Punch from Kingambit A Grass Tera Type is best used as a defensive Tera type, resisting Grass- and Electric-type moves attacks as well as becoming neutral to common Dark and Ghost-type moves such as Sucker Punch From? and you need to mention an example of a Ghost-type attack and from what pokemon. Not only that, but you also gain immunity to powder moves such as Spore and Rage Powder.
- EV Spread: With a simple 252 252 spread, you outspeed everything slower than Jolly Nature Talonflame such as Adamant Dragapult, Sneasler, and Maushold. With 252 Attack EVs, once you have a fully boosted Last Respects, you can two shot basically every non resisted pokemon of the format including extremely bulky pokemon such as Archaludon. 252/252/4 EV Spreads don't need an explanation, you can remove this bullet point
- Pros and Cons: This set is less flexible than other sets such as the Rain Sweeper Set. The Choice Scarf also means you are not doing quite as much damage to the enemy. For example, Last Respects before it is boosted does extremely little damage to enemies. You could mention a damage calc here to support this statement However, since you are not using Swift Swim as your ability, you are not as reliant on Rain to be fast and sweep. You could mention how choice scarf restricts this set's move choice more than the rain sweeper set

[SET COMMENTS]
- Overview: This Basculegion-M set focuses on abusing rain to become a fast pokemon through its ability Swift Swim and deal massive damage.
- Key Moves: Wave Crash does massive damage with the rain no matter which item you are running. Aqua Jet allows you to finish off pokemon that have low HP such as a Focus Sash Sneasler. Flip Turn allows you to pivot out for good utility. Last Respects is just an amazing move for cleaning up games gaining more and more damage for each fainted member on your team. Dex info Protect gives you good staying power. However, do not use Protect if you are using Choice Band as your item. You don't need to explain protect
- Item Differences: Choice Band is most commonly used on this set, allowing you to get one hit knockouts on most of the relevant pokemon in the format with Wave Crash and boosted Last Respects and even sometimes Flip Turn. However, being locked into one move means you can get taken advantage of. For example, if you lock into Wave Crash and your opponent sends in a Gastrodon with Storm Drain, all you are doing now is helping your opponent. Gastrodon is not common in the metagame, it would be better to mention Water-type resists instead With the Life Orb, you still deal massive damage, albeit less than with a Choice Band. However, you take a little bit of extra damage after each attack. This can result in your Basculegion-M losing a ton of health to recoil damage when using moves like Wave Crash. The Mystic Water only boosts your Water-type moves, however it has no drawback. This is a consistent item to use on Basculegion-M. You could add damage calcs here to demonstrate the damage difference between all 3 boosting items Last but not least, Clear Amulet prevents Intimidate and other stat drops from pokemon such as Incineroar. This is good as one easy way to counter Basculegion-M is to cycle Intimidates against it.
- Tera Type Considerations: A Water Tera type allows all your Water-type attacks to do even more damage. Meanwhile, if you prefer a defensive Tera Type, Tera Grass turns many of its weaknesses into resistances and also makes Basculegion-M immune to powder moves. Mention the defensive benefits of Tera Water and Tera Grass as well
- EV Spread: Explain the reasoning behind the EV spread, highlighting key survival benchmarks (e.g., surviving key hits, outspeeding certain threats) and how they enable the Pokémon’s function. Include key speed tiers, relevant damage calcs, and important interactions with other metagame threats. With the speed EVs, when rain or tailwind is up, you outspeed Jolly Dragapult, the fastest unboosted pokemon in the format. This is useful as if you know your enemy does not have a Choice Scarf item, speed control effects such as Tailwind, or speed stages, you outspeed them. With the HP investment, you can live a Grassy Glide from most Rillabooms.
- Pros and Cons: Outside of the rain, not only will Basculegion-M be much slower, but it will also deal a lot less damage. As a result, it becomes incredibly reliant on rain. On the flip side, in the rain, it can get a ton of one hit knockouts on a lot of the pokemon in the format. Mention examples Depending on the item, this set is a lot more flexible with the exception of the Choice Band version. However, with the Choice Band set, you always deal a lot more damage as well as have a bit more speed than the Scarf set in the rain. However, as you are very reliant on the rain, if you play into an opposing weather team, if you can not keep the rain up, the Choice Scarf set is much better.

Once you knock out all the pokemon that may resist Basculegion's attacks, you can deal so much damage and sweep teams. - Main Role: Basculegion is a terrifying sweeper, especially under rain. If you can do so, Basculegion can get huge one hit knock outs. This doesn't provide much information, you should mention something like Basculegion-M is used as an early-game sweeper or late-game cleaner instead
- Playstyle: For the Rain Sweeper Basculegion-M, you want to see if the enemy has counters such as opposing weather or pokemon such as Rillaboom and Kingambit. If they do not, using it as a lead can be extremely effective. You can pivot it out to save it for the late game and get some quick damage or even an outright knockout with Flip Turn then use Last Respects to close out battles. - Counters & Checks: To counter Basculegion-M, speed control to invalidate the speed gained by Choice Scarf or Swift Swim can often remove one of its greatest advantages in a battle. Mention examples of the speed control you would use In addition, priority is also very strong against Basculegion-M. For example, a Sucker Punch from Kingambit or Grassy Glide from Rillaboom can quickly deal with Basculegion-M beofre before it even can attack.

- This set is less flexible than other sets such as the Rain Sweeper Set. The Choice Scarf also means you are not doing quite as much damage to the enemy Choice scarf sets deal less damage and are locked into a single move. - To counter Basculegion-M, speed control to invalidates the speed gained by Choice Scarf or Swift Swim can often remove removing one of its greatest advantages in a battle. This can include Tailwind, Trick Room, and moves like Icy Wind or Electroweb Mention users of these moves. In addition, priority is also attacks are very strong against Basculegion-M. For example, a Sucker Punch from Kingambit or Grassy Glide from Rillaboom can quickly deal with Basculegion-M before it even can attack. Mention how the Basculegion-M player would beat these counters and checks

I will do another recheck once this is implemented. You missed a lot of corrections from the previous check. Here is a guide on how to easily implement checks:

Add, Remove, Highlight, Comment
[SET]
Choice Scarf (Basculegion) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Grass
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Last Respects
- Flip Turn / Tera Blast
- Aqua Jet / Tera Blast
[SET COMMENTS]
- This set aims to move fast with Choice Scarf and hit hard with its Water- and Ghost-type STAB moves boosted by Adaptability.
- Wave Crash is Basculegion-M's strongest damage-dealing Water type attack. Last Respects is Basculegion-M's strongest Ghost-type attack which deals increased damage late-game. Tera Blast provides Basculegion-M with coverage for example Tera Grass allows it to threaten Water-types. Mention a Water-type example Flip Turn is a good utility move, switching Basculegion-M out so you can take less damage.
A Grass Tera Type is best used as a defensive Tera type, gaining immunity to powder moves such as Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss, resisting Grass- and Electric-type attacks Mention examples of these attacks and the pokemon who use them , and removing weaknesses to Ghost- and Dark-type attacks similarly to Tera Water.
- This set is less flexible than the Rain Sweeper Set. Choice Scarf sets do less damage to the enemy and are locked into a single move. For example, Last Respects before it is boosted does extremely little low damage to enemies foes. Here is a damage calc as an example. Here is a damage calc as an example. 252+ Atk Adaptability Basculegion-M Last Respects vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Archaludon: 44-54 (22.3 - 27.4%) -- 42.6% chance to 4HKO. When boosted to 200 base power, this damage calc becomes 252+ Atk Choice Band Basculegion-M Last Respects vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Archaludon: 198-234 (100.5 - 118.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO. While unboosted, Last Respects only has a small chance to 4HKO Archaludon and it requires at least 200 base power to achieve an OHKO. While this set is slower and not as strong as the rain sweeper set, it is not as reliant on Rain to be fast and sweep.

[SET]
Rain Sweeper (Basculegion-M) @ Choice Band / Life Orb / Mystic Water / Clear Amulet
- Choice Band is most commonly used on this set, allowing you to get one hit knockouts on most of the relevant pokemon in the format with Wave Crash and boosted Last Respects and even sometimes Flip Turn. However, being locked into one move means you can get taken advantage of. With the Life Orb, you still deal massive damage, albeit less than with a Choice Band. However, you take a little bit of extra damage after each attack. This can result in your Basculegion-M losing a ton of health to recoil damage when using moves like Wave Crash. The Mystic Water only boosts your Water type moves. This needs to be cut down, you could say something like "Choice Band, Life Orb and Mystic Water all increase Basculegion-M's damage. Choice Band provides the greatest increase allowing Baculegion-M to OHKO Pelipper with Wave Crash while rain is active. Life Orb has a high chance to achieve this KO although it is not guaranteed and Mystic Water has a low chance to achieve this." instead Last but not least, Clear Amulet prevents Intimidate and other stat drops from pokemon such as Incineroar. This is good as one easy way to weaken Basculegion-M is to cycle Intimidates against it or use Parting Shot on it. Depending on the item, you may need to sacrifice a few calcs. For example, the following calc shows on such interaction where you lose a guarenteed OHKO.
252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Water Basculegion Wave Crash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Pelipper in Rain: 153-180 (112.5 - 132.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Tera Water Basculegion Wave Crash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Pelipper in Rain: 133-157 (97.7 - 115.4%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Mystic Water Tera Water Basculegion Wave Crash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Pelipper in Rain: 123-145 (90.4 - 106.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Tera Water Basculegion Wave Crash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Pelipper in Rain: 102-121 (75 - 88.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.

Here, you lose the guarenteed OHKO and eventually even the chance for an OHKO.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Teambuilding
============
Mention that Basculegion-M is used on rain teams
Archaludon is also a good partner as it can use Electro Shot to threaten Water Types Mention an example .
- The main weakness of Basculegion-M is the reliance on Rain for the Swift Swim sets and its lack of flexibility for the Choice Scarf sets as well as priority moves for both sets. To cover these weaknesses, you can use another member of the team to defeat the opposing weather setter before cleaning up with Basculegion-M Which pokemon is ideal for this? . However, as the main priority attacking threats for Basculegion are immune to Rage Powder like Rillaboom and Safety Goggles Kingambit , Follow Me is much prefered.
Strategy Comments
============
- To counter Basculegion-M, speed control invalidates the speed gained by Choice Scarf or Swift Swim can often remove removing one of its greatest advantages in a battle. However, Terrastriallizing Terastallizing or using Follow Me can help Basculeion Basculegion-M beat such threats.

Flip the set orders around so move rain sweeper basculegion before scarf basculegion. Remove the clear amulet mention on rain sweeper basculegion. Change your teambuilding and strategy sections to reflect this order change too. Add the link to my profile under quality checked (this link: https://www.smogon.com/forums/members/rauvgc.589964/) Otherwise this looks good to me and you may mark as QC 1/2!
