Bellossom hasn't gotten much love in previous generations, being relegated from UU to NU in gen IV, the dancing flower bush hasn't really had much to say for itself. It's medicore stats and pure grass typing really haven't given it much to play with, and it's dream world ability lacks somewhat for single's play, but with a few new moves in its aresnal,it got something. And with the possible rise of weather teams, perhaps it might yet see the light of day.

Poison Abuser:
@ leftovers
Chlorophyll
Nature: Calm/ Sassy
Ev: 252 HP/ 132 Def/ 124 SpD
Venom Shock
Toxic
Grass Knot/ Hp Fire/ Solar Beam
Synthesis

This set is simple, poison with acid, fustrate with Teeter dance and venom shock them into submission. To be honest, this kind of strategy would fair far better on Bellossoms cousin, Vileplume, who at least gets STAB.

Sunny Day Support:
@ Heat Rock
Chlorophyll
Nature: Timid
Ev's: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Sunny Day
Solar Beam
Toxic
Giga Drain

With the greater power of Giga Drain and massive predictions for weather teams, this set aims to lend support to Ninetales in keeping up weather, it aims to be able to come in to set up Sunny day, then fire off whatever takes its fancy

Trolololol:
@ Leftovers
Chlorophyll
Nature: Calm/ Sassy
Ev: 128 Def/ 128SpD / 252 Spe
-Teeter Dance
-Sleep Poweder
-Toxic
-Attract
Bit of a silly set, switch in, status, keep statusing, run away. Serves little to no use except as a fun gimmick.

Physical Bellossom:
Bellossom @ Life Orb
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Drain Punch
- Sleep Powder / Return

Another stall:
Bellossom @ Leftovers
bulky nature and spread
- Sleep Powder
- Leaf Storm
- Stun Spore / Charm
- Synthesis

Opinions: To be honest, i don't see much happening for Bellossom this Gen, it didn't get many new toys (even with Petal Dance becoming Special, Grass-type Outrage) and doesn't fill a niche anything else couldn't. I fear another generation of the lower tiers for you again Bellossom.

sleep powder is what helps Bellossom out a ton! not too mention Leaf Blade can help her. She remains in the middle of Vileplume and meaganium really... Pretty much being passed up for either of them. She at least gets sleep powder and stun spore helps to spread status.

one major flaw in both movesets you made. the move Acid does not poison the foe. it has a 10% chance of lowering the foe's sp.def but does not have the status affliction poison as a secondary effect at all. so i would suggest Toxic instead. it has been this way since the first gen (where it lowered special and then revised in gen 2 to be sp.def).

And you, my friend, just named the reason why Bellossom is so forgotten.
Any job that Bellossom can do, something else can do better.

Made changes, thanks guys. This is why you don't write up pokemon after 5 hours of school, a job interview and several hours of studying :P

About the Poison set, why don't drop the Teeter Dance to put something like Grass Knot, HP Fire or alike? Mono-Poison (without STAB, whch is worse) is horrible if your fore have a Steel, Poison, Ground, Ghost or Rock, which is almost sure. Gras Knot or HP Fire would at least give acceptable coverage.

Thankyou, i edited this in.

I can't believe they didn't give her Butterfly Dance. >.<

Yes, Bellossom looks just like a green, not-insectoid butterfly without wings and a random skirt stuck in and no legs and two arms and no proboscis and parasitic flowers growing out of its head.

Why does this thread exist if Bellosom is outclassed by Vileplume?

Unless you want a ground resist. But yeah, that's how it's always been. But there's always been better grass types that resist ground. Like Tangrowth, or Leafeon, or, if you want a clorophyll sweeper, Eggy.

Nothing's changed, Bellossom still sucks, amirite?

EDIT: That was a little harsh. Sorry.

Thing is, the same description fits Doreida, who DOES get the move!

That said, Bellossom would still be pretty horrible even with Butterfly Dance, simply because Doreida would outclass it really bad at that too. >_>

EDIT - Fucking ninjas!

Bellossom must be a candidate for cutest Pokemon ever heh. Shame she sucks.

Bellossom @ Life Orb
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly
- Swords Dance
- Petal Dance
- Drain Punch
- Sleep Powder / Return

Use with Sun support obviously. Petal Dance has been buffed and is now 120BP...it's a Grass type Outrage basically. Drain Punch has been buffed up to 75 BP too. Suppose you've gotta take whatever you can get when you're Bellossom...

Bellossom @ Leftovers
bulky nature and spread
- Sleep Powder
- Leaf Storm
- Stun Spore / Charm
- Synthesis

I dunno...? Counter bulky waters, spread status and dish out damage with Leaf Storm for as long as possible? Man, this thing sucks. I tried...

Btw, she gets Leech Seed through some obscure 4th Gen event. Noteworthy for sure.

Because everything need an anlysis and i'd rather not write my first ananlysis badly on something that might be useful that i overlook :P (Now onto using this experience to write up Vileplume!)

@Lee Thankyou very much for your input, it's been very helpful!

Please do. Vileplume was always my favorite poke, and I also had a soft spot for Bellosssom. I thank you for taking the time to write this, and hope you spend some time on Vileplume.

I don't care if it's outclassed, so long as it's usable. My skills can make up for it, and it always had. Mixed Classes FTW.

The problem with the Swords Dance set is, Petal Dance is a Special Attack, not a Physical attack Lee. So, she's relegated to Leaf Blade for Physical Grass STAB.

I agree with the second set though.

On your Sunny Day support sets I really think Sleep Powder would be a good addition. It could easily go in the place of either of the grass moves (I'd replace Solarbeam personally) and really help the set out by giving it something strong to do no matter what swaps in (well almost). I would also replace Toxic with HP Fire since you have it built as a sweeper rather then a tank you don't really have time for toxic but HP Fire (or Ground I guess) gives you a decent coverage move.

True, in group battles she does do better... Healing Heart, Teeter Dance, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Giga Drain, Leftovers ... On a nice bulky spread (which is one thing she does well, she is fairly bulky), yeah I could see it in lower tier games.

A consistent Petal Dance with no draw backs, other than being forced to use it? Oh yes.

Sadly Doreida does this better too (She has Own Tempo to ignore the confusion anyway). And the cost of needing to use Safeguard beforehand is an important one... And then lets point out that Grass is not a good attack type which means getting stuck in a Grass move is alot worse then getting stuck in a Dragon move...

Also Petal Dance is special not physical so Sword Dance isn't great here...

She really should have gotten it though, that would have at least given her some kind of nitch as an UU cleric. Meganium does that job but lacks Sleep Powder...
