[OVERVIEW]
Hitmontop's solid movepool and priority allow it to carve itself a niche in PU as a Fighting-type with both defensive utility and power. It has decent bulk and can either sponge hits with Assault Vest or amplify its power with Life Orb. However, Hitmontop is often competing with faster Fighting-types that are not reliant on priority like Choice Scarf Passimian. It is also vulnerable to being worn down throughout the game, especially when running Life Orb. Generally, Hitmontop will only be on specific team structures for its unique combination of power and priority.

[SET]
name: Offensive
move 1: Mach Punch
move 2: Triple Axel
move 3: Thief / Stone Edge
move 4: Fake Out / Rapid Spin
item: Assault Vest / Heavy-Duty Boots / Life Orb
ability: Technician
nature: Adamant
evs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 144 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Triple Axel targets Flying-resistant foes like Altaria and Claydol. Thief allows Hitmontop to have some utility after absorbing Knock Off. Stone Edge allows Hitmontop to OHKO Charizard and Ribombee. Close Combat is a viable alternative move that provides more power, which makes it easier to break through Pokemon like Regirock. Fake Out allows Hitmontop to get Pokemon such as Omastar and Jolteon into Mach Punch range. Bullet Punch is an alternative coverage move to pick off weakened Froslass and Ribombee, but it can be difficult to fit. Assault Vest lets Hitmontop stomach special attacks from wallbreakers like Magmortar and check them. Heavy-Duty Boots gives Hitmontop more sustainability and lets it better support its team with Rapid Spin. Life Orb cuts into Hitmontop's longevity but gives it an easier time picking off Pokemon such as Silvally-Steel with the combination of Fake Out and Mach Punch. The given Speed investment allows Hitmontop to outspeed Silvally formes after Rapid Spin. 172 Speed EVs can be used on Stone Edge variants to outspeed Charizard after Rapid Spin. Due to how easily Hitmontop gets worn down, it appreciates Wish support from Pokemon like Aromatisse. In return, Hitmontop is able to check Pokemon like Aggron and Absol. Regirock and Weezing appreciate Hitmontop being able to pivot into special attacks from Pokemon such as Heliolisk. Spikes setters like Froslass and Garbodor pair nicely with Hitmontop, as they wear Pokemon down into priority range. In return, these Pokemon appreciate Hitmontop providing Rapid Spin support. Absol can weaken shared checks like Regirock with Knock Off and pressure Ghost-types like Cofagrigus.

Hitmontop's solid movepool and priority allow it to carve itself a niche in PU. (elaborate a little, you sort of bring this point up and then start talking about other things.) Hitmontop has decent bulk and can either amplify its power with Life Orb or sponge hits with Assault Vest. It is able to stand out by having both defensive utility and power. (this is good to mention while talking about its niche.) Though, Hitmontop often is competing with faster Fighting-types that are not reliant on priority like Choice Scarf Passimian. Hitmontop is also prone to being worn down throughout the game, especially when running Life Orb. Generally, Hitmontop will only be on specific structures out of necessity.

Hitmontop is able to outspeed Silvally after a Rapid Spin with the given speed investment, though it can also run 216 evs for Scyther after +1. Hitmontop is able to run coverage for common Fighting-type resists like Altaria and Claydol. Thief allows Hitmontop to have some utility after absorbing Knock Off and can do more damage to Pokemon like Uxie. (mention what stone edge does here and why you might use it over thief.) Close Combat is a viable alternative move for more raw strength making it easier to break Pokemon like Regirock. Fake Out makes it easier for Hitmontop to get Pokemon such as Omastar and Jolteon into Mach Punch range. Due to how easily Hitmontop gets worn down, it appreciates Wish support from Pokemon like Aromatisse. In return, Hitmontop is able to check Pokemon like Aggron and Absol. Regirock and Weezing appreciate Hitmontop, particularly with Assault Vest, being able to pivot into special attacks from Pokemon such as Heliolisk. Life Orb cuts into Hitmontop's longevity but has an easier time picking off Pokemon such as Silvally-Steel with the combination of Fake Out and Mach Punch. (this bit shouldn't be here, you're talking about teammates. ik you just mentioned what av does for top, but you could put this and that somewhere else so that it doesn't interrupt anything else.) Spikes users like Froslass and Garbodor pair nicely with Hitmontop as they wear Pokemon down into priority range. These Pokemon appreciate Hitmontop providing Rapid Spin support. (i think bullet punch is worth mentioning as an alternative move. revenge killing weakened fairies is good, though it doesn't offer much utility outside of that.)

Hitmontop is able to outspeed Silvally after a Rapid Spin with the given speed investment, though it can also run 216 evs for Scyther after +1. Hitmontop is able to run coverage (just say Triple Axel, the move fits for both of these examples) for common Fighting-type resists like Altaria and Claydol. Thief allows Hitmontop to have some utility after absorbing Knock Off and can do more damage to Pokemon like Uxie. Stone Edge allows Hitmontop to OHKO Charizard and Ribombee. Close Combat is a viable alternative move for more raw strength making it easier to break Pokemon like Regirock. Fake Out makes it easier for Hitmontop to get Pokemon such as Omastar and Jolteon into Mach Punch range. (what about Rapid Spin? As the writer it's probably obvious why it's used, but to a reader it's not explained beyond a vague mention of defensive utility.) Life Orb cuts into Hitmontop's longevity but has an easier time picking off Pokemon such as Silvally-Steel with the combination of Fake Out and Mach Punch. Assault Vest gives Hitmontop more staying power and can stomach special attacks from Pokemon like Magmortar. (I feel like HDB deserves a mention, being able to spin away TSpikes without taking damage is amazing for some teams) Due to how easily Hitmontop gets worn down, it appreciates Wish support from Pokemon like Aromatisse. In return, Hitmontop is able to check Pokemon like Aggron and Absol. Regirock and Weezing appreciate Hitmontop being able to pivot into special attacks from Pokemon such as Heliolisk (don't like the Heliolisk example because you get Volted on and take 30ish even with AV + you also get chipped by Spikes which Heliolisk teams usually run, something like Magmortar would be better). Spikes users like Froslass and Garbodor pair nicely with Hitmontop as they wear Pokemon down into priority range. These Pokemon appreciate Hitmontop providing Rapid Spin support too. Bullet Punch is an alternative coverage move to pick off weakened Froslass and Ribombee but can be difficult to fit.

The format here is generally very weird. Bullet Punch is all the way at the end when it should be with the moves, AV and LO are ordered differently than their slashes, and the Speed investment mention should come after the items, not all the way at the beginning. I think after fixing this it will look much better.

Also you might be able to fit an Intimidate mention and a reason for running Technician but I don't feel strongly about either of these and would rather an actual QC member approve of these.

Held off because I haven't used this since it got unbanned but I don't think anyone else on QC has used this either so we'll just have to make do.

Hitmontop's solid movepool and priority allow it to carve itself a niche in PU as a Fighting-type with both defensive utility and power. Hitmontop has decent bulk and can either amplify its power with Life Orb or sponge hits with Assault Vest this order should be reversed since we recommend AV first. Though, Why is this "Though," here. very awkward clause Hitmontop often is competing with faster Fighting-types that are not reliant on priority like Choice Scarf Passimian. Hitmontop is also prone to being worn down throughout the game, especially when running Life Orb. Generally, Hitmontop will only be on specific structures out of necessity. I appreciate the sentiment, this is a point you want to hit, but when you don't specify what kind of structures it's not useful. I would either get more specific or rephrase to be more generic, like "hitmontop will find its niche on teams that need a very specific combination of power and priority"

Hitmontop is able to outspeed Silvally after a Rapid Spin with the given speed investment, though it can also run 216 evs for Scyther after +1 why would you do that lmao, this doesn't seem worth a mention. I suppose you could creep charizard after a spin on edge sets?. Hitmontop is able to run coverage for common Fighting-type resists like Altaria and Claydol this sentence is about triple axel? put the name of the move in the sentence then. also common is really stretching it with altaria. Bullet Punch is an alternative coverage move to pick off weakened Froslass and Ribombee but can be difficult to fit. Assault Vest gives Hitmontop more staying power and can stomach special attacks from Pokemon like Magmortar I wouldn't mind getting slightly more specific about how u dont rly switch into things but u can 1v1 them, Magmortar remaining a good example of this. Heavy Duty Boots allow Hitmontop more sustainability and let it better support its team with Rapid Spin. Life Orb cuts into Hitmontop's longevity but has an easier time picking off Pokemon such as Silvally-Steel with the combination of Fake Out and Mach Punch. I do feel like one offensive partner would be nice here, something that can put pressure on Ghosts seems sensible. not too fussed about what it is
