Bibarel

Bibarel.gif

[OVERVIEW]

  • Due to Bibarel's niche in Simple, Bibarel can become a feared wallbreaker after just a single use of Swords Dance. Thus, allowing Bibarel to break through common specially defensive and even defensive walls such as Palossand, Clefairy, Miltank, defensive Carracosta, and defensive Mesprit.
  • Bibarel's Normal / Water typing provides Bibarel with a unique STAB combo, resisted only by the likes of Ferroseed, Gourgeist, and Cradily, however, even Ferroseed and Cradily are 2HKOed by Return, which further augments Bibarel's role as a wallbreaker.
  • Bibarel's access to STAB Aqua Jet and Quick Attack allows Bibarel to pick off weakened, faster threats such as Lilligant, Alolan Raichu, and Primeape. Thus, preventing them from revenge killing Bibarel.
  • Because of Bibarel's poor 79 / 60 / 60 bulk, Bibarel has trouble setting up, especially against more hyper offensive oriented teams. This, along with Bibarel's noticable weakness to faster users of priority, Life Orb recoil, and lack of reliable recovery outside of Rest, can make Bibarel easily worn down over the course of the match.

Moves
========

  • Swords Dance allows Bibarel to boost its Attack to tremendous levels due to Simple, giving Bibarel a +4 boost after a single use, which allows Bibarel to break through common walls within the metagame such as Weezing, Regirock, defensive Carracosta, defensive Mesprit, Gastrodon, and Palossand, fitting Bibarel into its role within the metagame as a fearsome wallbreaker.
  • Return is Bibarel's chosen Normal-Type STAB, being able to hit most Pokemon within the metagame for hard, neutral damage usually OHKOing or 2HKOing them with few exceptions.
  • Liquidation is Bibarel's secondary Water-Type STAB, allowing Bibarel to successfully break through the few Pokemon that it cannot with Return such as defensive Carracosta and Spiritomb while also being able to soften up Pokemon due to it's secondary effect of lowering Defense 20% of the time.
  • Quick Attack grants Bibarel priority allowing it to pick off faster threats such as Alolan Raichu and Primeape, while also picking up KOs on Lilligant and Jynx who either resist Aqua Jet or is immune to it and can OHKO Bibarel with prior damage at the cost of losing KOs on Archeops and Pyroar.
  • Aqua Jet is alternate form of priority that causes Bibarel to lose KOs on the likes of Jynx and Lilligant in return for gaining KOs on Archeops and Pyroar while still picking up KOs on other faster threats such as Alolan Raichu and Primeape.
