Bisharp is one of the most difficult Pokemon to switch into safely, due to its access to a STAB Knock Off and other moves such as Assurance and Beat Up, which when paired with adequate team support, can be very threatening. Its access to the ability Defiant deters the use of entry hazard removal in Defog letting it pair well with entry hazard setters like Landorus-T and Skarmory. Bisharp's good defensive typing can also greatly benefit more offensive teams by offering a check to the everpresent Dragapult without having to shivving teamcomp. However, it fails to switch into it repeatedly due to its frailty. This often leads to the need to be paired with a separate Ghost-resistant Pokemon on more balanced teams. Bisharp's access to STAB priority in Sucker Punch makes it an effective revenge killer as well. Its reliance on Sucker Punch to revenge kill opposing Pokemon can be detrimental, and leads to it being used as setup fodder. Its low Speed tier also plays a part in this. Bisharp also struggles to switch in easily, although this can be played around by using pivots such as Blissey or Slowking.

[SET COMMENTS]

Swords Dance Bisharp is an incredibly effective sweeper. Access to Sucker Punch makes it much harder to revengekill, especially with the added benefit of being able to switch between moves. Black Glasses powers up its main STABs in Knock Off and Sucker Punch, greatly enhancing its damage output on its main STAB attacks. Life Orb has the benefit of boosting its overall damage output making it a lot harder to check reliably. However, it can lead to Bisharp being worn down rather quickly, which can be detrimental for it in the long term. The nature Adamant is preferred, as there aren't any crucial targets to eclipse with Jolly. Defiant is preferred to deter any attempts to Defog away entry hazards or dual screens, that Bisharp is often paired with, especially on hyper offensive teams. Jolly is preffered since it allows it to outspeed Timid Magnezone.

This set fits exceptionally well on hyper offense teams, as it is a great abuser of dual screens and entry hazard stack. This is why other Pokemon, that fit well on hyper offense like Dragonite, Swords Dance Garchomp, and Weavile pair well with it, as they share key checks and pairing them together can lead to their checks being overwhelmed, making it easier to break through them. Weavile pairs exceptionally well, as it acts as a form of speed control for Bisharp, and it benefits from its ability to heavily dent shared checks like Corviknight and Skarmory, which can make it relatively easy for Weavile to clean. Rillaboom is also a great partner, as it greatly benefits from Bisharps ability to pressure shared checks like Skarmory and Corviknight, Rillaboom also makes it easier for Bisharp to set up by weakening Earthquakes from the likes of Swampert or Hippowdon. Suicide Leads and dual screen setters like Landorus-T and Tapu Koko respectively pair well with Swords Dance Bisharp, as they can often force opposing Pokemon to use Defog, which Bisharp can switch into and abuse with Defiant, and the latter can help Bisharp setup with more ease.

[SET COMMENTS]

Choice Band Bisharp is an incredible wallbreaker in the current metagame. Its ability to punish any switch-in with its STAB Knock Off makes it incredibly hard to switch into. Sucker Punch makes it a very good revenge killer as well, it also makes up for its relatively low speed. However, this can be exploited once locked in to set up a Substitute or get boosts. Beat Up is a great choice, as it can heavily threaten the opposing team and possibly make it easier to break through the opposing Pokemon, although this should only be used with teammates with high attack stats because otherwise its rather underwhelming. Beat Up's ability to ignore contact effects like Rocky Helmet can be very useful, especially against targets like Skarmory and Tangrowth. It is also important to use this while more teammates are alive, as otherwise it is rather useless. Assurance is another option for the last moveslot, as it can make Bisharp incredibly hard to switch into, as its power is doubled, if the Pokemon takes entry hazards damage in the same turn. This can be very useful, as Bisharp is able to force a lot of switches with its strong STAB Knock Off against Pokemon like Dragapult and Slowking. An Adamant nature is preferred, as there aren't any crucial targets to eclipse with Jolly.

Since Choice Band Bisharp gets walled by common Pokemon such as Corviknight and Skarmory, pairing it with pokemon like Swords Dance Garchomp or Landorus-T works great, as the two can put immense pressure on their shared checks, causing them to be easier to break through. Spikes and Stealth Rock setters like Skarmory and Landorus-T can also greatly benefit Bisharp, since they can help power up its Assurance while entry hazards are on the field, as it discourages the use of Defog. FuturePort users like Slowbro and Slowking also benefit Bisharp, as they enable it offering a switch- in switch-in against offensive Ground-types like Excadrill and Garchomp, that can trouble Bisharp. Bisharp's access to Defiant helps it break through its checks like Tangrowth or Toxapex with more ease, as well as give it a free switch-in which it appreciates heavily, as it struggles to do so otherwise due to its frailty. They can also pivot against Pokemon like Dragapult and opposing Slowking, which Bisharp can help force out. These two also benefit Bisharp defensively, as they offer a switch-in against Pokemon like Excadrill, Heatran, and Tapu Lele respectively, which can attempt to revengekill Bisharp. Other pivots like Urshifu-R and Rillaboom are amazing partners, since they greatly benefit from Bisharp's ability to weaken their shared checks like Corviknight and Tangrowth. They can also help bring in Bisharp against targets like Slowking or Tornadus-T respectively, that Bisharp can force out.

Other Options

On its Choice Band set Bisharp can choose to run Low Kick over Beat Up / Assurance, as additional coverage to hit Pokemon such as Melmetal, opposing Bisharp, and Heatran super effectively. Although this makes it unable to make use of its teammates high attack stats with Beat Up or forced switches with Assurance, which can be much more useful in a game, since it allows Bisharp to use higher base power moves to break through its checks. An Assault Vest set can be utilized, as a check to Dragapult on teams that are otherwise weak to it. Bisharp can still act as a rather strong wallbreaker without the use of a Choice Band with Future Sight support. However, this set is rather niche and should be used carefully, since it can still take a decent amount from a Choice Specs-boosted Draco Meteor and can fall prey to Dragapult's possible Fire-type coverage or Will-O-Wisp.

Checks and Counters
====

**Physically defensive Walls**: Defensive walls like Toxapex, Corviknight, and Skarmory don't get too heavily crippled by Bisharp's Knock Off and can retaliate with Scald, Haze or Body Press, all of which can stop Bisharp in its tracks. Defensive Garchomp also acts as a check, as it can survive some hits and can force it out with a STAB Earthquake. However, its lack of reliable recovery can make it a rather unreliable check.

**Status**: Hex Dragapult can freely spread status like burns on Bisharp, as it doesn't have to worry about a Sucker Punch then. Pokemon like Toxapex, and Slowbro can also use Scald to potentially cripple Bisharp. However, even though Dragapult and Slowbro can survive a Knock Off after a burn, they still dislike getting their Heavy-Duty Boots removed.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon like Zeraora and Kartana can act as effective revenge killers, since Bisharp's Sucker Punch isn't always enough to KO them. Other Pokemon like Choice Scarf Landorus-T can also take advantage of Bisharp being choice locked and continues to either force it out or OHKO it. Bisharp's overreliance on Sucker Punch is also detrimental, as faster Pokemon like Urshifu-R and Hydreigon can easily revenge kill Bisharp without caring much about its Sucker Punch.

  • Although it acts as a rare Ghost-resistant pokemon, it can't reliably switch into anything due to it being rather frail and fails to switch into the most common Ghost-type being Dragapult. Bisharp can switch into some attacks from Pult if you predict correctly, but not always This often leads to it needing to be paired with a separate Ghost-resistant pokemon.

  • Choice Band Bisharp is an incredible wallbreaker in the current meta.
  • Its ability to punish any switch in with its STAB Knock Off makes it incredibly hard to switch into, that along eith the removed need for a turn to set up makes it more threatening.
  • Sucker Punch makes it a very good revenge killer as well, it also makes up for its relatively low speed. I think it is important to mention here how Sucker Punch can be exploitable once locked into, as a usage tip.
  • Beat Up is a great choice as it can heavily threaten the opposing team Explain that you need teammates alive for it and possibly make it easier to break through them, although this should only be used with more physically offensive teammates Beat Up works based on attack stats so it might be better to say that you want that as otherwise it's rather underwhelming.
  • Assurance is another option for the last moveslot, as it can make Bisharp incredibly hard to switch into since its power doubles if the pokemon takes hazard damage in the same turn. This can be very useful since Bisharp is able to force a lot of switches.

  • Spikes and Stealth Rock setters like Skarmory and Landorus-T can also greatly benefit Bisharp since not only can it power up Bisharp's Assurance but the hazards can also help Bisharp break through regenerator cores which Bisharp can struggle against otherwise. They can also benefit Bisharp by offering a switch in for offensive Ground-types like Excadrill and Garchomp that can trouble Bisharp if it is locked into a move. Mention that Bisharp can remove Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon with Knock Off to wear down the opposing team with hazards further.
  • FuturePort users like Slowbro and Slowking also benefit Bisharp as they enable it to break through its checks easier as well as give it a free switch in which it appreciates very much as it struggles to do so otherwise do to its frailty. • Black Glasses powers up its main STABs in Knock off and Sucker Punch, greatly enhancing its damage output, making its Knock Off much harder to switch into. It even allows it to bypass some of its defensive switch in like Skarmory and Corviknight easier.
  • Life Orb has most of the benefits of Black Glasses however it can lead to Bisharp being worn down rather quickly which can be detrimental for it in the long term. Is there something the added power helps with you could mention?
  • Again Sets aren't meant to be compared like this an Adamant Nature is preferred as there aren't many threats that require it to utilise a Jolly nature. Maximising its attack can also help it clean up teams a lot more easily. Fluff

The two essentially form a Dark-type spam core in hyper offence teams.
  • I think Rillaboom is worth a mention here. A generally strong Pokemon on hyper offense that pressures some shared checks like the aforementioned Corv and Skarm, and weakening Earthquake helps Bisharp set up against weaker users of it like Swampert and Hippowdon.
  • Suicide Leads and dual screen setters like Landorus-T and Tapu Koko respectively, pair well with Swords Dance Bisharp as well, since the former can often make the opposing pokemon use Defog which Bisharp can switch into and abuse with Defiant, and the latter can help Bisharp set up easier.

[Overview]

Bisharp is one of the hardest pokemon to switch into safely as it has access to a STAB Knock Off since it can remove the item which can be debilitating. You don't need to tell us what Knock Off does. Is there possibly anything else making it difficult to switch into? Switching into it defensively is also hard as it has great STAB coverage as well as access to Defiant making Landorus-T scared to switch in. I feel as though this sentence is a bit redundant at its core. You can probably outright rework it to mention Defiant and how can deter hazard removal. Bisharp's access to STAB priority in Sucker Punch makes it an effective revenge killer as well. Swords Dance makes it a very strong and hard to check sweeper that fits very well on screens and hazard stack hyper offensive teams as it can greatly benefit from switching into Defog that is often used to remove said hazards or screens. This is the overview, focusing on Bisharp's main overall attributes. Save this for the SD set Although it acts as a rare Ghost-resistant pokemon, it can't reliably switch into anything due to it being rather frail. This often leads to it needing to be paired with a separate Ghost-resistant pokemon. It's Choice Banded set can be often used as set-up fodder by the likes of Volcarona and Tornadus-T as it tries to revenge kill them with Sucker Punch, although this can be played around with correct prediction. A bit too specific and this is set specific so it's not necessary in the overview. I do like the idea of Sucker Punch being mentioned in part as a disadvantage, as it does mean Bisharp needs to win 50/50s against faster revenge killers that are neutral to the attack, assuming it's not choice locked. Its speed tier is a bit problematic as well. Bisharp's frailty can also make it hard to switch in easily, although this too can be played around using Teleport users like Blissey or Slowking. I feel as though this sentence can be reworded, as you just repeat a point you make earlier. Just saying it needs pivoting support to get the most mileage out of gets the point across a lot better I think.

I'm surprised to not see any mention of its resistances to Ghost- and Dragon-type moves, making it a decent Dragapult check on offenses when healthy and paired with pivoting support. This is another pretty big reason we're seeing a rise in Bisharp since there are very few Pokemon willing to take Dragapult on without shivving a team comp.

An Adamant nature is preferred as it maximises Bisharp's attack and because there aren't any threats that Bisharp needs to outspeed using Jolly. "Many threats" makes it seem like you're not giving the full picture. Just saying that there aren't any crucial targets to eclipse with Jolly is more clear.

Since Choice Banded Bisharp gets walled by common pokemon like Corviknight and Skarmory, pairing it with pokemon like Swords Dance Garchomp or Landorus-T works great as the two can put immense pressure on their shared checks causing them to be easier to break through. They can also benefit Bisharp by offering a switch in for offensive Ground-types like Excadrill and Garchomp that can trouble Bisharp if it is locked into a move. Bisharp can also use Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon making them more vulnerable to the entry hazards. You stretch this out into way too many sentences, I feel you can compress the hazards into one or two sentences pretty well, as too many sentences staying on the same point can muddy the point and struggle to retain attention. FuturePort users like Slowbro and Slowking also benefit Bisharp as they enable it to break through its checks like what easier as well as give it a free switch in which it appreciates very much as it struggles to do so otherwise do to its frailty. Do they pivot against anything prominent? Dragapult is a key example. The two also benefit Bisharp defensively since they offer a switch in for pokemon like Excadrill and Heatran and Tapu Lele respectively, which can attempt to revenge kill Bisharp.

I'd like to see more pivot mentions, since they're really pivotal to making Bisharp's breaking abilities work to their fullest (hahaha see what I did there)

You just mention this in the Life Orb section, so it's more important to emphasize Life Orb's outright overall damage boost that's extended to Iron Head as well, and Black Glasses letting it not be worn down as readily. Life Orb has most of the benefits of Black Glasses however it can lead to Bisharp being worn down rather quickly which can be detrimental for it in the long term, this damage boost helps it break through checks like Skarmory and Corviknight easier. Life Orb and Black Glasses are kind of mutually exclusive in the sense of what moves they boost. An Adamant Nature is preferred as there aren't many threats that require it to utilise a Jolly nature. Same criticism here as in the above set.

No Defiant mention is a bit weird I think, which is another pretty big incentive to want to use it on HO cores given that Defiant helps to dissuade Screen/hazard removal.

Physically defensive Ferrothorn can also act as a good check to it with Body Press. Ferrothorn isn't really too reliable since Knock Off removing a crucial item makes it unable to win the 1v1 unless Bisharp is SD and has yet to boost until it switches in, and Ferrothorn is at near to full HP. Even against this, it sustains a poopload of damage and loses Leftovers. Ferrothorn is also mostly SpDef now so I'm in general not too comfy with this mention.

Choice Band Bisharp is an incredible wallbreaker in the current metagame. Its ability to punish any switch in with its STAB Knock Off makes it incredibly hard to switch into. Sucker Punch makes it a very good revengekiller as well, it also makes up for its relatively low speed. However, this can be exploited once locked in to set up a Substitute or get boosts. It is also important to use this while more teammates are alive, as otherwise it is rather useless. [SET COMMENTS]

Swords Dance Bisharp is an incredibly effective sweeper. Access to Sucker Punch makes it much harder to revengekill, especially with the added benefit of being able to switch between moves. Black Glasses powers up its main STABs in Knock oOff and Sucker Punch, greatly enhancing its damage output on its main STAB attacks. Life Orb has the benefit of boosting its overall damage output making it a lot harder to check reliably. However, it can lead to Bisharp being worn down rather quickly, which can be detrimental for it in the long term. AnThe nature Adamant nature is preferred, asince there aren't any crucial targets to eclipse with Jolly. Defiant is prefferred to deter any attempts to Defog away Hentry hazards or Sdual screens, that Bisharp is often paired with, especially in Hon hyper Ooffensive teams.

This set fits exceptionally well on Hhyper Ooffensive teams, as its a great abuser of dual screens asnd entry hazard stack. This is why other pPokemon, that fit well on Hhyper Ooffense like Dragonite and, Swords Dance Garchomp, and Weavile pair well with it, especially since they share key checks and pairing them together can lead to their checks being overwhelmed making them easier to break through them. Weavile pairs exceptionally well, as it can acts as a form of speed control for Bisharp, and it benefits from its ability to heavily dent shared checks like Corviknight, and Skarmory, which can make it relatively easy for Weavile to clean. Rillaboom is also a great partner, as it greatly benefits from Bisharps ability to pressure shared checks like Skarmory and Corviknight, Rillaboom also makes it easier for Bisharp to set up by weakening Earthquakes from the likes of Swampert or Hippowdon. Suicide Leads and dual screen setters like Landorus-T and Tapu Koko respectively, pair well with Swords Dance Bisharp as well, asince they can often make thforce opposing pPokemon to use Defog, which Bisharp can switch into and abuse with Defiant, and the latter can help Bisharp to setup with more easier.

On its Choice Banded set Bisharp can choose to run Low Kick over Beat Up / Assurance, as additional coverage to hit pPokemon such as Melmetal, opposing Bisharp, and Heatran super effectively. Although this makes it unable to make use of its teammates high attack stats with Beat Up or forced switches with Assurance, which can be much more useful in a game, since it allows Bisharp to use higher base power moves to break through its checks. An Assault Vest set can be utilized, as a check to Dragapult ion teams that are otherwise very weak to it. Bisharp can still act as a rather strong wallbreaker without the use of a Choice Band with Future Sight support too. However, this set is a rather fringe oniche and should be used carefully, since it can still take a decent amount from a Choice Specs-boosted Draco Meteor and can be prey to Dragapult's possible Fire-type coverage or Will-O-Wisp.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon like Zeraora and Kartana can act as effective revenge killers, since Bisharp's Sucker Punch isn't always enough to KO them. Other pPokemon like Choice Scarf Landorus-T can also take advantage of Bisharp being choice locked, and continues to either force it out or even OHKO it. Bisharp's overreliance on Sucker Punch is also detrimental, as faster pPokemon like Urshifu-R and Hydreigon can easily revenge kill Bisharp without caring much about its Sucker Punch.

Its access to Defiant aIts an ability Defiant deters the use of entry hazard removal in Defog letting it pair well with entry hazard setters like Landorus-T and Skarmory. Bisharps good defensive typing can also greatly benefit more offensive teams by offering a check to the everpresent Dragapult without having to shivving teamcomp, h. However, it fails to switch into it repeatedly due to its frailty. This often leads to ithe needing to be paired with a separate Ghost-resistant pPokemon ion more balanced teams. Bisharp's access to STAB priority in Sucker Punch makes it an effective revengekiller as well. Its reliance on Sucker Punch to revengekill opposing Pokemon can be detrimental, and leads to it being used as setup fodder. Its low sSpeed tier also plays a part in this. [SET COMMENTS]

Choice Band Bisharp is an incredible wallbreaker in the current metagame. Its ability to punish any switch in with its STAB Knock Off makes it incredibly hard to switch into. Sucker Punch makes it a very good revengekiller as well, it also makes up for its relatively low speed. However, this can be exploited once locked in to set up a Substitute or get boosts. Beat Up is a great choice, as it can heavily threaten the opposing team and possibly make it easier to break through the opposing Pokemon, although this should only be used with teammates with higher attack stats because otherwise it's rather underwhelming. Beat Up's ability to ignore contact effects like Rocky Helmet can be very useful, especially against targets like Skarmory and Tangrowth. It is also important to use this while more teammates are alive, as otherwise it is rather useless. Assurance is another option for the last moveslot, as it can make Bisharp incredibly hard to switch into, asince its power is doublesd, if the pPokemon takes entry hazards damage in the same turn. This can be very useful, asince Bisharp is able to force a lot of switches with its strong STAB Knock Off against pPokemon like Dragapult and Slowking. Anthe nature Adamant nature is preferred, asince there aren't any crucial targets to eclipse with Jolly.

Since Choice Banded Bisharp gets walled by common pPokemon likesuch as Corviknight and Skarmory, pairing it with pokemonartners like Swords Dance Garchomp or Landorus-T works great, as the two can put immense pressure on their shared checks causing them to be easier to break through. Spikes and Stealth Rock setters like Skarmory and Landorus-T can also greatly benefit Bisharp, since they can help power up its Assurance while entry hazards being on the field, asince it discourages the use of Defog usage. However, this set is rather niche and should be used carefully, since it can still take a decent amount from a Choice Specs-boosted Draco Meteor and can be fall prey to Dragapult's possible Fire-type coverage or Will-O-Wisp.

Checks and Counters
====

**Physically defensive Walls**: Defensive walls like Toxapex, Corviknight, and Skarmory don't get too heavily crippled by Bisharp's Knock Off and can retaliate with Scald, Haze or Body Press, (ac)all of which can stop Bisharp in its tracks. Defensive Garchomp also acts as a check, as it can survive some a hits and in progress forcing can force it out with a STAB Earthquake.

Bisharp's overreliance(space between over and reliance) on Sucker Punch is also detrimental, as faster Pokemon like Urshifu-R and Hydreigon can easily revenge kill Bisharp without caring much about its Sucker Punch.
