XY Doubles Blazing Moon

My second overall RMT that once again takes place in the Doubles metagame, except this time I'm going with Smogon Doubles. I always loved Smogon's metagame on account that it allows me to use Pokemon not normally allowed such as big legendaries and event Pokemon. Anyway, enough about that. Let's get rolling with the team.

DA TEAM

A CLOSER LOOK

@ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
Psyshock
Taunt
Protect
Hyper Voice

Mega Gardevoir is amazing. She hits hard and fast and has one of the best moves for Doubles a Pokemon can ask for: Pixilate Hyper Voice. This move alone scares a lot of Pokemon, and they should be scared. Psyshock goes along with Hyper Voice as a way to deal with special walls plus it gives Mega Gardevoir a secondary, reliable STAB. Taunt is an interesting option here, but with her speed she can easily shutdown a lot of setup users. Protect finishes off the set as needed. The EV spread allows Mega Gardevoir to hit as hard and fast as possible, though it does leave her vulnerable to physical threats. This problem though is remedied by my next Pokemon.

@ Life Orb
Ability: Bad Dreams
EVs: 100 HP / 252 SAtk / 156 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
Dark Pulse
Protect
Will-O-Wisp
Focus Blast

Darkai acts as Mega Gardevoir's partner and part of the central core of the team. As per Audiosurfer's suggestion, I switched from a bulky support set to an offensive set. It's pretty much your standard Darkrai set saved for the inclusion of Will-O-Wisp as the induced burn will help both itself and Mega Gardevoir in the long run. I went with Focus Blast because, while it has poor accuracy, it packs a punch and with heavily dent a lot of threats should it hit.

@ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 56 HP / 252 SAtk / 200 Spd
Timid Nature
Heat Wave
Protect
Earth Power
Flash Cannon

A standard Heatran that also shares great synergy with Mega Gardevoir. I opted for this set because Heatran is a beast, but often falls to frequent Earthquakes. This is where Shuca Berry comes in. With the Shuca Berry Heatran is guaranteed to survive an Earthquake retaliate with a powerful STAB. With his incredible typing he is able to support Gardevoir and deal with threats she is weak too, particularly Poison and Steel types.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 232 HP / 196 Def / 80 SDef
Bold Nature
Scald
Protect
Tailwind
Snarl

As with Audiosurfer's suggestion, I swapped out Rotom-W for Suicune, and I must admit the change is good. Not only does Suicune have incredible bulk, but it also carries Tailwind, which helps my team's speed problem. It also has access to Snarl, which gives my team some relief from special attackers. Scald finishes up the set as a reliable STAB that also carries a great chance of burn.

@ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 44 Atk / 240 SAtk / 224 Spd
Hasty Nature
Dragon Claw
Protect
Ice Beam
Earth Power

Kyurem-Black is amazing. With his power, he can easily wreck a lot of foes that Salamence only wish he could do. Pretty standard Mixed set, although I use Hasty as its nature to give it more speed which, combined with Darkrai's Icy Wind, allows him to outspeed threats and deal some major damage. Dragon Claw is his primary physical move and secondary STAB while Ice Beam provides his primary STAB for great coverage. Earth Power rounds off the set allowing Kyurem-Black to deal with fire and steel types that would otherwise wall it. I opted for Life Orb to give Kyurem-Black some extra power, though with his coverage I might swap for Expert Belt. We'll just have to wait and see.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 176 SAtk / 72 SDef
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
Shadow Ball
Wide Guard
King's Shield
Flash Cannon

Aegislash rounds off the team by providing both Wide Guard support and an answer to Ghost types despite its weakness. This is your pretty standard set, though I opted for a full special attacker to match the team's theme. What makes Aegislash so great is that he can wall a lot of threats and hit back hard thanks to his ability. He also protects my team from spread moves thanks to his access to Wide Guard. Aside from that there isn't much else to say about the guy. He pretty much speaks for himself.

Conclusion
Well there you have it. I hope this provides you with an excellent look at my team. Please comment and give me suggestions as I want to make this team as fun as possible for me when not doing VGC.

76 speed on heatran to outspeed min speed rotom-w and set up a sub first. 80 speed if you wanna be creepy (176 HP/ 252 SpAtk/ 80 Spd)
sick team if it's your first time and happy 300th

I got your request to rate this team BlazingBarrager, and I'm glad to see that you're starting to get involved in the Smogon Doubles metagame! I have to admit that your team is well-constructed; there aren't any noticeable flaws or weaknesses and the members of your team have great synergy between each other due to the fact they cover their partner's weaknesses (Rotom-W covers Heatran's Ground-type weakness, Heatran covers Rotom-W's Grass-type weakness). There isn't really much to change to be honest, but I would like to make a few minor suggestions that could help improve your team a little more. :]

I recommend giving Heatran STAB Flash Cannon over Substitute for extra coverage against Fairy-types; once Aegislash goes down, you don't really have any Pokémon that can deal a significant amount of damage against Fairy-types such as Mega-Gardevoir and Sylveon. Usually, Substitute is used on Heatran if he is running Leftovers, as he can gradually recovers HP behind Substitute + Protect. People may argue that Heatran will be able to wall Fairies with his Steel / Fire typing, but many players have begun to utilize HP Ground on Sylveon and Mega-Gardevoir, and Heatran won't be able to take them down first by simply spamming Heat Wave. Besides, a Flash Cannon from Modest Max Special Attack Heatran is a guaranteed 2HKO against 252 HP / 252+ SpD Togekiss (deals 50.2 - 59.8% damage), 4 HP Mega-Gardevoir (deals 79.8 - 94.9% damage), and max HP Sylveon (deals 58.3 - 69% damage). You are provided with dual STAB coverage with the addition of Flash Cannon, and you will be able to take on an Air Balloon Heatran one-on-one by outspeeding and popping the Balloon with Flash Cannon and then OHKOing with Earth Power.

The only other change I would make to your team is to give Aegislash some added offensive firepower by giving him an EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 176 SAtk / 76 SDef. With the 76 Special Defense EVs invested, he will still be able to survive a Heat Wave from Timid Mega Charizard-Y guaranteed, and the 176 Special Attack EVs make him more of an offensive threat compared to the 72 SpA EVs you gave him. Also, Aegislash should have 0 Speed IVs (not sure if you didn't actually do this or if you forgot to put this on your RMT) along with his Quiet nature to underspeed opposing Aegislash; the opposing Aegislash will attack first and be put in Blade form and your Aegislash will proceed to OHKO with STAB Shadow Ball after taking a hit in Shield form. Not to mention the 0 Speed IVs + Quiet nature enables Aegislash to function inside of Trick Room.

Your team is already very solid, but I hope my suggestions help you out! Good luck with this team, man. :D

some notes of my own BlazingBarrager:
  • 56 / 252 / 200 @ Timid should be the heatran nature instead of the current spread. your team has a very large bisharp weakness (especially with both of darkrai's attacks giving it free boosts at no cost) and breloom also looks problematic for the team, so this spread helps you outspeed bisharp and other base 70s.
  • given how slow your team is (yes even with icy wind support) it seems like a bit of speed wouldnt hurt, hence why im suggesting suicune over rotom-w. it is still very bulky and a great support pokemon, while also having tailwind to boost your team's speed and make pokemon such as kyurem-b and mega gardevoir more threatening
  • final change is regarding darkrai. tbh i dont think that a bulky set serves your team very well. it is unable to really hurt any of the things that wall your mega gardevoir set right now, and mega gard would be better served in trying to clean teams by an offensive partner as opposed to something as passive as your current set. as such, i'd like to suggest you switch to a more offensive darkrai. this has the advantage of actually being able to beat/wear down the things that get in the way of a mega gardevoir sweep such as heatran and aegislash while making much better use out of darkrai. in addition, with suicune the support roles you used to have darkrai fill (burn, speed control, and snarl) can all be filled, leaving darkrai to do more useful work.
hope you like the rate and gl on your team dude :) (note, if you go with protect > ice beam on suicune, move the special attack evs into defense)
