Blissey shows up on teams that mandate a stalwart specially defensive sponge that can provide utility for its teammates. As Blissey is a physically frail Pokemon, physical walls such as Gliscor and Skarmory are needed to check foes such as Terrakion and Garchomp, which Blissey is not able to handle effectively. Blissey is vulnerable to all entry hazards, so hazard removal from the likes of Forretress and Excadrill benefits it immensely, and in return, it can provide them with longevity by using Wish. Good checks to Keldeo such as Jellicent and Latios are necessary, as Blisseycan not cannot check it defensively. Blissey also synergizes with some Magic Guard users such as Reuniclus; since Reuniclus is immune to passive damage, it can come in on multiple Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, and Scald users, while Blissey can switch in and block Reuniclus from being crippled by paralysis. The sand setters, Tyranitar and Hippowdon, are good partners for Blissey thanks to the consistent residual damage limiting problematic wallbreakers such as Keldeo and Dragonite, and they both provide useful utility. Tyranitar is able to Pursuit trap otherwise problematic Psychic-types like Reuniclus and Psyshock Alakazam, while Hippowdon is a stalwart mixed wall that can set Stealth Rock to open up Blissey's moveset. Offensive options such as Ice Beam can seem tempting to hit common Blissey switch-ins such as Gliscor and Landorus-T, but it is often better to let this burden be occupied by other teammates.
