Thanks to its high Attack stat, powerful Z-Move, and great overall coverage with Leaf Blade + Sacred Sword, Kartana is a difficult wallbreaker for defensive teams to handle. Kartana finds setup opportunities against foes that it forces out, especially passive or unboosted physical attackers such as Ferrothorn, Gliscor, and Tyranitar lacking Fire Punch. Breakneck Blitz allows Kartana to deal with checks like Tornadus-T, bulky Volcarona, and Mega Charizard X; at +2, it OHKOes Zapdos, defensive Garchomp, and even physically defensive Tangrowth with some prior damage. However, due to Kartana's poor Special Defense, it will be forced out by faster special attackers such as Ash-Greninja and Mega Alakazam, so switch-ins to these like Assault Vest Magearna and specially defensive Tapu Bulu are useful partners; the former also generates momentum via a slow Volt Switch, while the latter provides Grassy Terrain. Magnezone is also a good teammate, since it can remove Celesteela and Mega Scizor, two Pokemon that give Kartana trouble.

probably worth adding spdef bulu here too (doesn't check protean gren tho ig but u can probably just say ash), cus it also provides that juicy grassy terrain.

Choice Scarf Landorus-T is also a good teammate that generates momentum and appreciates Kartana's ability to wallbreak early-game.

this is a nice teammate yeah, but i'd like to see magnezone here instead because mega scizor and celesteela are what this set struggles the most with, really.
