SV OU Brute Bonnet Sun (Better Than Fraud Zarude) (Peaked #3) (Won in SCL) (Better Than SSS) @Srn

Twinkaton!
is a Metagame Resource Contributoris a Tiering Contributoris a defending SPL Champion
This will be a brief RMT as I am busy. It will also have no replays (besides SCL game) or proof of peak as I did not save them, but I hope you can trust me not to lie about something so silly given that I have peaked #1 many times before. heileone and spook as well as my SCL teammates can attest that I was on top ladder with this as well.

Team:
:walking-wake::brute-bonnet::ninetales::slither-wing::hatterene::great-tusk:

I started with something bad like this:

and turned it into something good.

Basically, I liked how AV Wake and Slither Wing made Offense MUs pretty auto-win so I decided to pair them with something that could solo fat and take advantage of Stun Spore from Slither Wing.

I added the better Drought Pokemon and hazard removal + pivoting in the form of Hatt + Tusk. (Hatt would later swap off of Eject Button).

Without further ado,

Acid Trip Nightmare (Brute Bonnet) @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 104 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Sucker Punch
- Tera Blast
- Growth

This is the breaker I wanted to use. It solos stall when you play it correctly, especially with double or single healing wish. Challenging matchups when you're using this thing over Lilligant include Dnite, Moon, Uturn mons that are immune to Stun Spore, faster Primarina.

Assault Vestlociraptor (Walking Wake) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 12 Def / 244 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Steam
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Flip Turn

Set I recommended on the Zarude RMT, and I'm glad that I didn't say that I had been using it because that would be a dead giveaway. Basically, this is a great Moth check for sun which is usually a challenging sticking point. Switching moves with sun boosted steam and flamethrower is also deadly into offense regardless of moth, and living Val moonblast is huge.

7-3 vs Foxes (Ninetales) @ Heat Rock
Ability: Drought
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 248 HP / 20 SpD / 240 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Weather Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Encore
- Healing Wish

I love this thing a million times more than Torkoal because HWish offense with gambit or really any bulky breaker is so much better than fitting another spinner. Torkoal is actually a shitmon (albeit sometimes necessary if you can't fit tusk/hatt). Set just outspeeds Crown and rest in Spdef.

Him S'Cute (Slither Wing) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Atk / 104 Def / 84 Spe
Impish Nature
- First Impression
- U-turn
- Stun Spore
- Morning Sun

I'll be honest I should have fine-tuned this spread before bringing it to SCL, but it had been working on ladder. I think what it does is outspeed jolly gambit and kill Wellspring outside of sun but I actually have no clue. But yeah, great Zama answer and catch-all defensive counterplay (rkiller) with first impression. Stun Spore/Wisp and Morning Sun are better reasons to use this pokemon on sun than any AV set imo. I definitely caught a gliscor with Stun Spore higher on ladder than I should have with this when they doubled out of Wellspring expecting the uturn/fimp.

Vibe-Check Witch (Hatterene) @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 64 Spe
Bold Nature
- Draining Kiss
- Psychic Noise
- Nuzzle
- Calm Mind

This was on the team as an eject button hwish set before I switched it, but look at the garg matchup LOL. I really hate this set tbh because it is so frail without grassy seed/AV/kee berry, but it does the job here. (did literally less than brute bonnet in the SCL game).

Great Tusk @ Eject Pack
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 4 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Close Combat
- Head Smash
- Rapid Spin

I needed Head Smash less on this than I would with something like Lilligant that can't break Molt, since Bonnet is teraing all the time anyway. However, it's still a very effective answer to Molt/Zap. Eject Pack gives me pivoting which is integral to sun builds.

Ty for reading, here's the SCL game if you missed it,
Yes, I'm likewhoring.

Have a good day.

Have you tested Scream Tail instead of Hatterene at all? I've had some success running it the last couple games to support the rest of the team with wish and it's also helped me against Kingambit with Psychic Terrain. Weird option I know but so many of them rely on sucker so i figured it would be a good check for that since the team can clear it easily with sucker being an issue.

What is this team with Kingambit and Psy terrain? Is there a team pokepaste to see it in action?

If you really want to pull out your inner Jigglypuff, you could try this set:

Scream Tail @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 168 HP / 4 SpA / 96 SpD / 240 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Dazzling Gleam
- Perish Song

Perish Song is there to prevent any setup outside of Gholdengo. Not recommended for this specific RMT as it's a noob trap.

I was suggesting running psychic terrain on the Scream Tail to help limit the effectiveness of Sucker Punch from opposing Kingambits
