Pet Mod Bust a Move (Playable on Dragon Heaven!) [See you in SV!]

Seeing as this metagame is technically a Nat Dex based one, isn't Dragapult banned? And dven if not, is it really a smart idea to give Dragapult literally any physical Ghost STAB? GF was very deliberate on why it lacks it and Nat Dex had to ban it for just a one time version.
Dragapult has Phantom Force, which is literally just a weaker version of Shadow Force, but you’re right about Dragapult being banned in NatDex.

Phantom Force is unreliable, just like Shadow Force. Hence why its getting buffed. People here are taking the buffed Shadow Force and are giving it to Pult, which is a terrible idea.

long time lurker, first time poster. I don't expect my attempt at an entry to go anywhere, but hopefully it becomes a first step towards more productive activity with the community.

Move Name: Roar of Time
Type: Dragon
BP: 150 -> 100
PP: 5
Accuracy: 90% -> 95%
Secondary Effect: Nothing happens on the turn of use. Each time the opponent switches in a new pokemon, there is a 75% chance of this move activating. Once it activates, there is no longer a chance of it activating.
New Users: Celebi
Viable Users: Dialga
Description: This might be too similar to Cuddly's suggestion, but I tried to make it as dissimilar as I could. This might also be unfeasible to program. The idea is for the move to function as a protective buffer against future switch-ins, but I had to make this inconsistent as to not make it completely abusable.

Move Name: Shadow Force
Type: Ghost
BP: 120 -> 150
PP: 5
Accuracy: 100%
Secondary Effect: -3 priority. This move only succeeds if the user took damage from an attack on the same turn.
New Users: Mimikyu
Viable Users: Giratina
Description: A reverse focus punch. Giratina has the bulk to pull this off.

Move Name: Techno Blast
Type: Normal
BP: 120 -> 110
PP: 5
Accuracy: 100% -> 95%
Secondary Effect: If the user is holding "Burn Drive", "Chill Drive", "Shock Drive", or "Shock Drive" this attack becomes that respective type and the user's special attack is increased by one stage after the move's completion.
New Users: Electrode
Viable Users: Genesect
Description: Accuracy might need more of a nerf to keep this from being too powerful, but the cost of needing a drive makes me want to lean towards "slightly too powerful" because anything less is going to be ignored for more consistent strategies that Genesect already has access to (not to mention the loss of potential status the non-drive alternatives allow for). The stat boost combined with Download also could be problematic, but making the stat boost occur distinctly *after* the attack should help create enough of a delay to be handleable. As for giving it to Electrode, I agree with the consensus of Porygon-Z and Magnezone as well, but wanted to see if this would even have a chance to help a mostly useless pokemon find a new niche. Boltbeam Electrode with stat boosts could be scary.

Second time. I don't expect to win, but...

Move Name: Roar of Time

Description: An effective STAB move for slower special attacker dragon, dunsparce evolution drampa becomes more offensively threatening, calm mind sets can act at a late game sweeper, when your teammates got rid of(or weakened) fairies and special walls, you're free of roaring the rest of their team to their end of time after 1 or 2 cm, choice specs sets can now be used as a revenge killer. Since drampa looks like an oldies from the ancient time, it should get rot.

Move Name: Techno Blast
Type: Steel
BP: 90
PP: 10
Accuracy: 100%
Secondary Effect: Uses target's lower defense
New Users: :celesteela:
Viable Users: :celesteela:
Description: Helps special steel type attackers break through special oriented walls, magnezone would still likely use body press on blissey, but its specs and scarf sets were improved, so do meteor beam celesteela. I gave the distribution to this specific mon because it's a high-tech bamboo robot, quite identical to genesect.
Edit: fixed the distribution since I misread the guidelines.

You can have only 1 non-Uber Pokemon for each move.

You can have only 1 non-Uber Pokemon for each move.
6. Moves can receive wider distribution, but try to show restraint. Moves may be added to new mons if giving those mons the move would make sense flavorwise. However, expanded distribution should make logical sense on any new learners; don't just give mons revised moves because "it would be cool" or "it would be decent coverage". New distribution will be limited to 3 mons unless otherwise stated; the exact number may increase/decrease depending on the strength of the move. Moves cannot be removed from mons that already have them.
sorry, maybe I misread the rules(I thought it was meant 3 mons for each moves).

Feedback time (sorry for the delay)!

analysis geek: Did not clear Techno Blast for a type change; even if move has a type-change mechanic in canon, can't change type unless specifically, explicitly allowed.

r1dude: Your Shadow Force is still distributed to two non-Ubers mon. And with Techno Blast, again, the type of a move cannot be changed unless explicitly allowed at the start of the slate.

You all have 24 hours to change subs or make new ones.

Move Name: Roar of Time
Type: Dragon
Base Power: 50
Category: Special
PP: 10
Accuracy: 100
Description: The user lets out a bellow that distorts even time. Strikes once at the start of the turn and again at the end of the turn.
Effect: Hits twice. The first hit has +2 priority, while the second has -2 priority.
New Users: Hydreigon

A powerful priority move that warps time to strike at two different moments. Hydreigon now has priority to abuse with its high special attack, and because of Roar of Time's unique double-hit mechanic it can compress priority and strong moves in one moveslot without sacrificing coverage.

Voting time! The following subs are disallowed:

r1dude's Techno Blast
-Note: subs are not disallowed solely for breaking distribution rules, hence why r1dude's Shadow Force is eligible. If it wins, however, I will ask the distribution be altered to comply with the previously asked change.

You have 3 days to vote for your favorite subs. Remember to look at the updated voting rule for self-votes; you can vote even if you didn't sub.
~~~
You also have this time to vote on the poll below, which will determine which moves we work on next slate! You can vote for as many options as you want; you can also go onto the Bust a Move Discord if you have any slates you want to add (look at the "Moves to be Buffed" list on post 1 to see what is available).
Okay, let's try this again. Here are the eligible subs:
Move Name: Roar of Time
Description: Technically this is still only distribution to one non-Ubers 'mon. Flavour is that they're fossils. This can replace Draco Meteor on mixed Dracozolt. Speed boost chance is low enough to be unreliable but very strong if it happens, though it doesn't combo well with the more popular Choice sets.
Move name: Roar Of Time
Type: Dragon
Category: Special
BP: 150->110
Acc: 100
PP: 5->10 (max 16)
Effect: -1 priority. Raises the user's speed by 1 stage. (Sound Based)
New Users: :Exploud:
Viable Users: :Exploud: :Dialga:
Description: Based on the idea of messing with time, this move makes the user move later in a turn, but gives it an overall speed boost. It feels like it matches the flavour of the move well, and meshes well with Dialga's design as well. This could be used to enable sweeps and be a strong, spammable special dragon move. Exploud gets this because it looks like he roars a lot.
Viable Users: :Duraludon: :Dialga:(When it’s released) Dialga-Origin
Description: Like Techno Blast, RoT would be an easy fix. Just make it Dragon Doom Desire, but that would be lazy. Instead, it’s like Doom Desire but happens 5 times after being used.
Duraludon thematically makes sense as Duraludon, Dracovish, and Dragapult suspeciously share characteristics with Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Namely typing and designs, and that’s more than previous “older game references new game” trope, which may just be a coincidence. Even so, Duraludon is based on The Shard, the tallest building in the UK, and Dialga is based on Japanese Mythology.
Also consider that Darkrai learns Roar of Time from an Event simply because it was featured in a movie with Dialga and Palkia fighting, and I think it’s fair to say that Duraludon could learn it too without any trouble.
New Users: :Dusknoir:
Viable Users: :Dusknoir: :giratina origin:
Description: I wanted to keep the idea of hiding in the shadows, while also getting rid of the semi-invulnerable turn that is present with Shadow Force. This update works similarly to Focus Punch, but you still move even if you are attacked. During that turn, you take 1/2 damage, so the user can be quite tanky. You almost always move last with this, and hit quite hard with a strong ghost move. The 1/2 damage modifier might be a bit too strong, let me know if it should be reduced. The move is given to Dusknoir because it has strong connections to the shadows and the underworld, which feel like they fit the flavour of this move.
New Users: :Drifblim:
E
Viable Users: :Drifblim: :Giratina: :Giratina-Origin:
Description:
Shadow Force acts as a Ghost type Sky Drop with a more powerful effect. While it may seem like an Upgrade to Sky Drop, remember that it’s also a Ghost type move, so the move is useless against Normal types. Additionally, the move doesn’t work exactly like Sky Drop. Instead of lifting the Pokemon into the sky, the move will trap the target instead. This means the target is still able to use moves, and Ghost types, Shed Shell users, and Teleport users can escape. This may break the rule of not being a direct upgrade of another move, but Shadow Force was already an upgrade of another move anyways. The main draw for Giratina here is that it has a strong attack that stalls most encounters. A physical wall that was Badly Poisoned and while Sand is up now has to endure 2 turns of Toxic Damage and 2 turns of Sand Damage. The move will also still work if the target has no items, so no worries with using Knock Off on a teammate.
Dragapult, like stated earlier, is part of this unofficial trio with Duraludon and Dracovish, being the Giratina Rep. The move also fits Dragapult the most compared to the other 2 as Dragapult is literally the Stealth Pokemon and is based on the most annoying unit in Advance Wars Stealth Fighter jets. Also just look at Dragapult’s Shiny.
Since Dragapult is Ubers, I guess Drifblim will have to take its spot. Which is fine since Drifblim can use it with Unburden and kidnaps children anyways.
Description: Techno Blast is definitely the easiest one to fix. The reason why Techno Blast was never used because it’s a Normal Type move that needs a mostly useless item to have its full functionality, and it was on a Pokemon with already great coverage. However, on something like Porygon-Z, it actually becomes something good. Aside from Hyper Beam, it would be Porygon-Z’s strong special STAB. It would be like a worse Boomburst with less PP, lower BP, and less accuracy, but still incredibly strong. I also spiced up the move by making it a Sound Move (which is another Draw Back) but also made the Drives give Techno Blast a psuedo STAB, which is solving the problem of its main gimmick. You aren’t just using a Drive to get 1 decently strong coverage move. You are using a Drive to get an insanely strong coverage move now. 180 BP Fire, Water, Electric, or Ice coverage is definitely worth using an Item Slot up for Genesect and Porygon-Z.
Slate 26: Can't Touch This
Suggested by Z-nogyroP. In practice, accuracy often makes or breaks games, since you kind of need to hit a move in order to take on opposing mons; Focus Blast and Stone Edge are infamous for their inconsistency, albeit not to an extent where it automatically makes moves unviable. The same cannot be said of Inferno, Zap Cannon and Grass Whistle, all of which are guaranteed to inflict status but have accuracy so low they are outright unusable outside of gimmick strategies. Specific note:
  • If you stick to Grass Whistle causing sleep or the other two moves having the high/guaranteed status chance, try to be more careful about how you balance it; obviously not as extreme a downside as the moves currently have, but still.
Description:
In case you couldn’t tell, Inferno has drastically change to reference the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. Given it’s Japanese name being Purgatory (which is ironic since Purgatory/Purgatorio is not Hell and is infact inbetween Heaven and Hell), and Inferno’s 100% chance to burn, the move may have been inspired by that poem.
In the first part, Inferno, Dante is guided by Virgil around the different circles of Hell. Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Heresy, 3 types of violence, Fraud, and Treachery for each circle of Hell that features different punishments depending on your sin, with the deeper layers having harsher punishments.
To mimick this, I decided that the move should conditionally burn the target based on having an ability that would represent 8 of the 9 circles of Hell.
Limbo is for the souls that were not baptized or virtuous pagans, so Wandering Spirit and Unaware (or all mighty Arceus) fit the bill for Limbo.
Lust is much broader than people think, and simply means desire, and typically Lust is associated with things I can’t mention on a forum for a children’s game. So the two simping abilities with Cute Charm and Rivalry fit.
Gluttony, like Lust, is more broad than people think as well, as it can include indulging in any type of materialism too much. Obviously, Gluttony represents Gluttony. It’s literally the same word. Thick Fat also fits for obvious reasons.
Greed, like before, is broader than people think, and is pretty similar to Lust and Gluttony, but is commonly associated with the ownership of materials and specifically money. Pick Up and Sticky Hold are the closest abilities to Greed thematically.
Wrath is simply extreme anger, and as far as abilities goes, Anger Point is by far the most fitting.
Heresy is any belief contradictory to othodox beliefs, and this was one of the harder ones to determine since there are not many ways to interpret non-believers as abilities. I feel like RKS System is way to defy Arceus, and Contrary can fit due to the users being contrarians.
Violence has 3 circles. First is for violence against others, such as murder, starting wars, and being tyrannical. Second is for violence against ones self, which includes people who killed themselves or attempted suicide. Last is for violence against God, Art, and Nature, which includes Blasphemers (God), Sodomites (Nature), and Usurers (Art). Violence on neighbor was also tough to pin down, namely because it can be too broad here with a wide range of abilities that can be considered violence like Tough Claws or Sheer Force. So I figured abilities the Moxie abilities fit nicely here, since they require violence. Pickpocket also fits violence against neighbors since thieves are also counted. Next self harming abilities like Solar Power, Innards Out, and Aftermath, are obviously suicide based abilities. Last for violence is yet another tough one, as it’s hard to find an ability fitting of harming God or Art, but there are some harming Nature ones. Download is associated with technology, and Poison Touch poisons things with a touch.
Fraud in Inferno covers a whole range of different sinners, a lot of which definitely do not have similar abilities, and even encompass abilities already mentioned like Cute Charm and Pickpocket. What is included and also what most people associate with Fraud are liars. Abilities that are centered around false identities like Disguise, Illusion, Imposter and Mimicry are great choices for Fraud.
The last circle of Hell is the special one. It’s for the people who have backstabbed others in their lives, with the biggest backstabbers being Satan himself, frozen at the center. Due to being the super special snowflake level of Hell, I felt like this should be represented by a unique condition seperate from the rest (and because there is no ability for betraying your own allied Pokemon). If the target had damaged an ally that turn, then the target is completely frozen.
Competitively speaking, Inferno becomes a consistant Special Fire type attack between Flamethrower and Fire Blast. It’s slightly more powerful than Flamethrower, but the Burns are conditions, has less distribution, and has less PP that makes a huge impact.
The mechanic of burning Pokemon based on abilities can also lead to unique teambuilding as well for different tiers. NatDex OU actually would see the least usefulness of the move for the Status Conditions, outside of burning Moxie Gyarados or Salamence or Unaware Quagsire/Clefable, the abilities are rare or knock out the target anyways. Kartana would be obliterated by Inferno anyways as an example. In lower NatDex tiers, the burn effects become more prominent, as the abilities seen are more common and seen on Pokemon that could survive an Inferno like Guzzlord.
And while this PetMod is based around NatDex, current VGC formats could use the Freezing effect on Pokemon who activate Weakness Policy on allied Dynamax users, like with Dragapult using Surf on Coalossal, Zygarde using Bulldoze on Solgaleo, or Mimikyu using Shadow Sneak on Calyrex-Ice.
btw, if you are in school, show this to your English Teacher. If they like Pokemon, they’ll love this part of the post specifically.
I can't even try to read what Cuddly wrote (even though I just did), so here I go.
Move Name: Inferno
Type: Fire
BP: 100 -> 95
PP: 13 [16]
Accuracy: 50% -> 90%
Secondary Effect: The user gets locked into this move for 2 turns. At the end of those turns, it takes 1/8 recoil damage and burns the opponent.
New Users: :incineroar: :chandelure: :drifblim:
Viable Users: :incineroar:
Description: All of these Pokémon would like a reliable Fire-type move slightly stronger than Flamethrower or Heat Wave. In the case of Drifblim and Incineroar, it is a very interesting way to status your opponent and weaken them significantly. Also, Drifblim can use Hex + this to deal 130 BP Ghost STAB and 95 BP coverage.
Move Name: Zap Cannon
Type: Electric
BP: 120 -> 50
PP: 19 [24]
Accuracy: 50% -> 90%
Secondary Effect: Hits twice. If opponent is paralyzed, does double damage. After this move's completion, it can't be used again for 3 turns.
New Users: :regieleki: :zeraora: :clawitzer:
Viable Users: :regieleki: :zeraora: :clawitzer:
Description: A high-risk, high-reward move is what this mod needs. Regieleki and Clawitzer also get reliable STAB and coverage, respectably. Also, cannons do massive damage (even more on a direct hit), but take forever to reload, which fits the effects to a T.
Secondary Effect: Has ½ recoil. 50% chance to burn in sun. Thaws user.
New Users: None
Viable Users: Victini, Charizard, Torkoal, Ninetales, Chandelure
Description: A inferno is a large fire that is dangerously out of control. I decided to make it a powerful move with high recoil. As you can see above this move will help sun teams a lot. I didn't add any new users because we have a good pool of inferno users already.
Move Name: Grass whistle
Max PP: 24
Accuracy: -
Secondary Effect: User switches out. -1 priority.
New Users: Ferrothorn, Rillaboom, Tangrowth
Viable Users: Ferrothorn, Tangrowth, Rillaboom, Venusaur
Description: In order to whistle with grass you have to blow air through it somewhat rapidly. Moves like whirlwind force the opponent out so i decide to do the opposite and have the user switch out. Since every user of this move is grass they gain access to priority switching move. Tangrowth and Ferrothorn appreciates this as this move allows them to gain momentum on their checks.
Just a quick question: If Grass Whistle just switches you out, wouldn't you want, say, -1 priority so that the incoming 'mon doesn't take any damage? And why would they use a slot on a move that just switches them out faster?
Move Name: Inferno
Type:
BP: 80
PP: 15 [Max 24]
Accuracy: 90%
Secondary Effect: Hits Fairy types Super-effectively.
New Users: :moltres:/:moltres-galar::hydreigon::incineroar::volcarona::monferno:/:infernape:
Viable Users: :moltres-galar::hydreigon::victini::volcarona::chandelure:
Description: Hellfire. The sins held within these flames are especially dangerous to fairies. A more powerful version of Freeze-dry that gains this power in exchange for lesser accuracy. Overall, it's a high bp attack that is able to threaten one of the most dominant types in the game, Pokemon who struggle against fairies will especially find this move useful.
Move Name: Zap Cannon
Type:
BP: 100
PP: 5 [Max 8]
Accuracy: 50%
Secondary Effect: Has a 100% chance to paralyze the target. If the user moves last this move has perfect accuracy. (Same checks as Analytic)
New Users: :golem-alola:
Viable Users: :magnezone::ampharos-mega: :blissey::slowbro:
Description: Toned down the power, but in exchange gave it a way to be much more reliable. Run on slow, bulky mons as a way of either dealing big damage or spreading status.
