[OVERVIEW]

Fighting
========

Choice Scarf Buzzwole is one of the best revenge killers and late-game cleaners for Fighting teams thanks to its high Attack, good physical bulk, and incredible ability in Beast Boost. Its Bug-type STAB move is mandatory for Fighting teams to deal with otherwise problematic Psychic- and Grass-types like Alakazam, Mew, Celebi, and Rillaboom, and its Fighting / Bug typing allows it resist Ground- and Fighting- attacks, increasing its chances to switch in against Pokemon like Excadrill and Terrakion. Buzzwole is vulnerable to status like paralysis and burn from Pokemon like Zapdos and Galarian Corsola, as paralysis cripples it and limits the possibility to act as deadly revenge killer, while burn halves its offensive power. Buzzwole's Speed tier is average, and it also has poor special bulk, so faster threats like Choice Scarf Blacephalon and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele outspeed and revenge kill it. It faces competition with Heracross due to having the same typing, but Heracross has a stronger Bug-type STAB move and better Speed and Special Defense. However, Buzzwole has more coverage options than Heracross, which help in a lot of different matchups like Flying and Dragon.

[SET COMMENTS]

Close Combat can be spammed against weakened neutral targets like Cinderace and Drapion, and it is useful in matchups against Steel-, Rock-, and Normal-types like Heatran, Tyranitar, and Blissey to get some KOs, allowing Buzzwole to boost its Attack with Beast Boost and become a deadly sweeper. Leech Life is mandatory to deal with Psychic- and Grass-types like Alakazam, Celebi, and Rillaboom and is also a way to provide passive recovery during the match. Ice Punch hits Flying- and Dragon-types like Landorus-T, Zapdos, Dragonite, and Garchomp. Earthquake can be used in the fourth moveslot to not be completely walled by Poison- and Steel-types that resist Buzzwole's STAB moves, like Toxapex and Aegislash. 252 EVs in Speed alongside a Jolly nature and Choice Scarf allow it to outpace threats like Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu, Tapu Koko, and Alakazam.

Cobalion is a great partner for Buzzwole, as it is one of the best Stealth Rock setters for Fighting teams. Stealth Rock can weaken foes and break Focus Sash from Pokemon like Krookodile and Cloyster, giving Buzzwole more opportunities to get some KOs. Cobalion also helps against Fairy-types like Tapu Lele and Mimikyu and can paralyze faster threats like Choice Scarf Latias for Buzzwole. Keldeo handles physically defensive Pokemon like Skarmory, Mandibuzz, and Hippowdon. Terrakion is a powerful setup sweeper and great teammate for Buzzwole, as Buzzwole appreciates its ability to weaken opposing teams so that it can act as a deadly sweeper late-game. They can also deal with shared checks like Celesteela, Mandibuzz, and Landorus-T. Terrakion is also a great answer against Flying-types like Zapdos. Choice Band Galarian Zapdos is a good partner for Buzzwole, as it acts as a powerful wallbreaker early- and mid-game while also being able to bring in Buzzwole safely with U-turn. It can also overpower defensive walls like Hippowdon, Celesteela, and Skarmory, allowing Buzzwole to sweep. Toxicroak is a good partner to improve the matchup against Fairy and Water teams, which can be a big problem to deal with for Fighting teams. Lastly, Swords Dance Guts Heracross can act as a wallbreaker and deal with defensive walls like Skarmory, Celesteela, and Amoonguss. Furthermore, it can also switch into status moves directed at Buzzwole.

Fighting

Stone Edge is an option over Ice Punch to do more damage against Flying-types like Mantine and help against Fire-types like Volcarona.

Checks and Counters
===================

Fighting
--------
**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types like Aegislash and Galarian Corsola completely wall Buzzwole, as they either resist or are immune to its STAB moves. They can also cripple Buzzwole with Toxic and Will-O-Wisp.

**Poison-types**: Pokemon such as Galarian Weezing, Toxapex, and Crobat resist Buzzwole's STAB combination. Furthermore, Weezing and Crobat are immune to Earthquake, while Toxapex and Crobat can recover their health and constantly wear Buzzwole down with their attacks.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Azumarill, Clefable, and Tapu Fini resist Buzzwole's STAB combination and threaten it with their Fairy-type moves.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon like Skarmory, Hippowdon, and Corviknight can easily switch into Buzzwole's moves, recovery any lost health, and wear down Buzzwole with their STAB attacks.

**Status**: Status like burn and paralysis from Pokemon like Galarian Corsola and Klefki cripple Buzzwole and limit its possibility to act as a revenge killer and cleaner. Even poison can cripple Buzzwole, reducing its longevity.

**Revenge Killers**: Choice Scarf users like Tapu Lele, Latios, and Blacephalon outspeed and revenge kill Buzzwole easily.

[OVERVIEW]

Fighting
========

  • Choice Scarf Buzzwole is one of the best revenge killers and late game cleaners in late game for Fighting teams, thanks to its high Attack, a good physical bulk and an incredible ability in Beast Boost, boosting its Attack every time it gets a KO.
  • Its Bug-type STAB move is mandatory for Fighting teams to deal with otherwise problematic Psychic-type like Alakazam, Celebi, and Mew.
  • Its Fighting / Bug typing allows it to resist to Ground-, Dark-, and Fighting- attacks, increasing its chances to switch in.
  • Buzzwole is vulnerable to status like paralysis and burn from Pokemon like Zapdos and Galarian Corsola, as paralysis can cripple it and limit its possibility to act as deadly revenge killer, while the latter halves its offensive power.
  • Its Speed tier is average and it has a poor special bulk, so faster threats like Choice Scarf Togekiss [Choice Scarf Togekiss isn't really a thing, replace with a different example.] and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele can outspeed and revenge kill it.
  • [Add a point about its extensive coverage options that help in a range of different MUs which is also one of the reasons to use it over Heracross.]
  • [Add that it also faces competition with Heracross due to same typing, mention that Heracross has access to stronger Bug STAB and is slightly faster. Would also add that Buzzwole has extremely bad Special Defense.]

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Close Combat
move 2: Ice Punch
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Leech Life [Move Leech Life to the 2nd slot to mirror the set comments move order.]
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Close Combat is Buzzwole's main STAB and the most powerful STAB; it can be spammed against weakened neutral targets like Cinderace and Drapion and it is useful in matchups against Steel-, Rock-, and Normal-types like Heatran, Tyranitar, and Chansey Blissey to get some KOes, boosting Buzzwole Attack thanks to Beast Boost and becoming a deadly cleaner sweeper.
  • Leech Life is mandatory to deal with Psychic-types like Alakazam and Celebi and it is also a way to recover health provide passive recovery during the match.
  • Ice Punch is a great coverage to hit Flying-types like Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Dragonite with a super effective damage. [Add that Ice Punch is also good against Dragon-types like Garchomp etc.]
  • Earthquake can be used as fourth slot to not be completely walled by Poison- and Steel-type Pokémon that resist its STAB moves, like Toxapex and Aegislash.
  • It is important to try to prevent Buzzwole from getting inflicted with status, as burn and paralysis cripple Heracross as a late-game cleaner. [This is more of a usage tip, isn't needed.]
  • Maximum Attack allows Buzzwole to hit as hard as possible, while 252 EVs in Speed alongside a Jolly nature and Choice Scarf allows it to outpace threats like Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu, Tapu Koko, and Alakazam.

  • Cobalion is a great parter for Buzzwole, as it is one of the best Stealth Rock setters for Fighting teams. Stealth Rock can weaken foes and break Focus Sash from Pokemon like Krookodile and Cloyster, giving Buzzwole more opportunities to get some KOes. [Cobalion also helps against Fairy-types like Tapu Lele and Mimikyu. It can also paralyze faster threats for Buzzwole like Choice Scarf Latias etc.]
  • Keldeo can handle physically difensive defensive Pokemon like Skarmory, Mandibuzz, and Volcarona Hippowdon [Volcarona isn't a physically defensive Pokemon, not in Monotype at least.] that can check Buzzwole.
  • Terrakion and Urshifu-S are two powerful setup sweepers and two great teammates for Buzzwole, as Buzzwole appreciates their ability to weaken opposing teams so that it can act as a deadly sweeper late-game. They can also deal with their shared checks like Celesteela, Mandibuzz and Landorus-T. Urshifu-S is important also to deal with some troublesome Ghost-types that can check Buzzwole like Jellicent and Galarian Corsola, while Terrakion is a great answer against Flying-types like Mantine and Zapdos that threaten Buzzwole. [Would reword the sentence without Urshifu-S mentions since its p much very likely to get banned in the ongoing suspect test.]
  • Choice Band Galarian Zapdos is a good partner for Buzzwole, as it can act as a powerful wallbreaker in early- and mid-game to punch holes in the enemy team and it can use U-turn to bring in Buzzwole safely. [It can also overpower defensive walls like Hippowdon, Celesteela and Skarmory, allowing Buzzwole to sweep.]
  • Lastly, Toxicroak is a good partner to improve the matchup against Fairy teams, that otherwise can represent be a big problema to deal with for Fighting teams. [Toxicroak also improves the Water matchup significantly.]
  • [* Would also add SD Guts Heracross as a good teammate. Acts as a wallbreaker and deals with defensive walls like Skarmory, Celesteela, Amoonguss etc. + switches into status moves directed at Buzzwole.]

Buzzwole has no viable Other Options. [Stone Edge is an option to do larger damage against Flying-types, also helps against Fire-types. Iron Head/Poison Jab can be used to help in the Fairy matchup as well.]

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Azumarill, Clefable and Tapu Fini resist Buzzwole's STAB combination and can threaten it with their Fairy-type moves. However, they need to be wary of the occassional Iron Head or Poison Jab Buzzwole.

**Status**: Status like burn and paralysis from Pokemon like Galarian Corsola and Klefki, respectively, can cripple Buzzwole and limit its possibility to act as a revenge killer and cleaner. [Add a mention about poison and how it affects Buzzwole]

[Add 'Revenge Killers' as a category and mention faster Choice Scarf users like Tapu Lele, Latios, etc.]

- this is basic dex info

- when talking about its bug type stab i would also talk about grass-types like rillaboom

its Fighting / Bug typing allows it to resist to Ground-, Dark-, and Fighting- attacks, increasing its chances to switch in.
- I don't think talking about resisting dark is very useful here since every fighting type does. for ground and fighting attacks give examples like Excadrill and Terrakion

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf (Fighting)

[set comments]
- leech life also hits grass-types like I mentioned before such as rillaboom

[other options]
- stone edge can hit mantine as a flying type
- iron head and poison jab buzzwole is bad, remove them

[checks and counters]
- galarian weezing and crobat are ground immunities
- for fairy types remove iron head/pjab, they arent good coverage for buzzwole
