BW Cup VII Round 6

...and we are back with everyone's favorite weather and flinching infested metagame!

Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • Smogon Classic rules can be read here
  • Standard BW OU
  • Best of three, single elimination.
  • Battles should take place on Pokemon Showdown!
  • Do not make baseless activity posts -- get in contact with your opponent and report missed times / scheduling issues only.
hey pals this stuff is just the cliffnotes, for the full list of rules for Smogon Tournaments check here

Identity

About playing on alts: It is entirely allowed to play on an alt other than your own main forum name, though if your opponent wishes to confirm your identity, you must log on to your main alt to show them you are who you claim to be. This is to prevent people from pretending to be who they're not.

About playing on different servers: Tournament matches must be played on the Smogtoursserver. The Main PS! serveris also acceptable if both parties agree to that. Other servers are not sanctioned by the TD team and playing in them might result in your game not counting. Protect yourself from that by playing in Smogtours, where we also have the power to recreate games that end due to DC's.

Scouting

On scouting opponents: Going through your opponents replays of tournament and ladder games is entirely allowed, as long as a game is public there is nothing preventing you from watching it. An exception to this is abusing powers granted to you by being staff on Smogon or PS! to gain access to information a normal user wouldn't have access to, which is strictly forbidden.

On leaking teams: Divulging private information about someone's planned team to their opponent is never allowed, and will be heavily sanctioned. Requesting that such information be divulged is also grounds for punishment. Keep your scouting to publicly available information and you'll be fine.

Timer Clause / Disconnections

On the Timer: The timer must stay on throughout the whole battle..

On Timeout losses: A player that loses by having all his time run out loses the game. This is only not the case if the player that received the timeout loss can be verified to have suffered a True Disconnection. Rematches are only allowed if there was a True Disconnection.

On True Disconnection: The TD team has a secret threshold of seconds that your timer must be at or above, from the moment you disconnect, for a timeout loss to be considered a True disconnection. If your game is determined to be a true disconnection if you played on Smogtours and contacted a TD before the room expired your game will be recreated up to the point the disconnect happened. It is the responsibility of the player that disconnected to get a TD into the room before it expires.

Battle Clauses:
  • Evasion Clause
  • OHKO Clause
  • Sleep Clause
  • Species Clause
  • Timed Battle
  • Team Preview
  • Moody Clause

won for last round, thanks for being great with scheduling considering the extension was all me, ggs
vs Mako

Top 16 are set now -- you all get until the end of Sunday. Please lmk ASAP if there are any scheduling conflicts as we are pretty deep into the tournament and nobody wants their run ruined by nonsense. Also, this is the last round where replays are not mandatorily made public, so keep that in mind.

Activity, opponent missed scheduled time twice
Re: Splash vs deckline:

They established contact early in the week; Deckline gave the wrong timezone (-2 instead of +2) and splash forgot to give his timezone initially. They missed each other on Tuesday because of this. They then agreed to play at a time on Thursday. Deckline was on 2 hours early, claimed Splash missed the time in PMs to me, got off, and then Splash got on, showed me the scheduling, and it was clear that Deckline missed the time they actually agreed upon. But it was only Thursday, so I told them to try to re-schedule since it was late in the tournament and had PM'd both. They agreed upon a time for today. Splash was online, contacted Deckline, and waited over 30 minutes. He had to go, so he posted activity, which is entirely in accordance with the rules. Deckline then came on later and claimed he was waiting on main, assuming Splash could come find him. That's clearly insufficient -- if you cannot find your opponent, you always reach out via the point of contact, which is VMs here. There are years worth of precedent for this and it is crystal clear in the scheduling guidelines.

Deckline missed two scheduled times, claimed he could not play for half of the week or the first half of the next week, and Splash was online for both times and made an active effort to get it done by contacting Deckline each time. This is a clear-cut activity win for Splash.

First of all lets take the time to appreciate the amount of time Finchinator spents on this website doing volunteer work insteads of touching grasses or going out for icecream or whatever

Also taking the time to say that Finch when a terrible situation arrived to me was very acessible and the way those dudes are describing him is unfair by all means possible, their posts can be translated as ( uh i lost lets take the time to express how much we dislikes finch) which has no importance at all .

Ofc you have the right to appeal and i would publically show why Finch's decision is wrong and tag the TD team for an appeal.

Also let me help you, just bring whats wrong in the most educated way possible( or just act like a gorilla, who am I) Amaranth TPP Boat kjdaas

Because the decision was contested in the thread, I already went out of my way to contact TDs to appeal the my own call despite Deckline not appealing himself. Everyone deserves a fair process! With this said, I spoke with Amaranth about it and he confirmed that my call was correct.

I have deleted a good few messages in this thread and handed out infractions for the ones that violated our rules.

The TD team has verified that the activity decision taken by Finchinator for game between Splash and Deckline was correct. Any further posts about this situation will be deleted. You are free to contact me in private for more clarifications.
