Gen 5 BW OU Trick room Party with Reuniclus + Brozong [Peaked 1# on ladder 1637 ELO]

:bw/reuniclus: :bw/tyranitar: :bw/bronzong: :bw/flygon: :bw/jirachi: :bw/seismitoad:

Here am i with another fun idea i was wondering to try out that i had some sucess with though can be a bit hard to pilot i think is worth the try!
since i was bored of using the usual CM Reuniclus thought why not go tr.

i may have decayed a bit now but thats mainly because im also on my way to try get 1750 elo for ladder achivements

The team:

:bw/reuniclus:
Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 56 HP / 244 Def / 208 SpA | 252 Hp / 252 Spa / 4 Def
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Recover / Hidden Power ice / Shadow ball / Thunder

Its not that hard to set up trick room specially vs things that reun can exploit with like ferrothorn , Forretress , Hippowdown , celebi , rotom-wash (though those last 2 may pivot so is safer to remove ttar first before setting up tr on them). The 4th move choice can varie alot as recover gives you better longevity but worse mu into more defensive teams that has good psy resist , and 3 attacking sets have downside of having no recovery but better coverage vs specific treats like dragons , psychics and skarm and rain.

:bw/tyranitar:
Tyranitar @ Chople Berry / Choice band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Atk / 172 SpD | 252 Atk / 252 Spdef or on Hp / 4 Hp or on Spdef
Sassy Nature
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Ice Beam / Ice punch / Stone Edge
- Fire Blast / Superpower

I think you still want to have more bulky pursuit trapper and something that can threaten lando/gliscor/ferrothorn , etc . but CB Tar is also not worst thing ever IMO though i havent used i think could be worth testing as it can do crazy damage like you can okho lando and gliscor switching on ttar , just note that this makes your mu into things like zam a bit worse and can open up holes vs some pokemon trying to abuse that you are locked in a move .

:bw/bronzong:
Bronzong @ Life Orb / Leftlovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt

So this is also another awesome tr fellow though it will struggle vs ferro/skarm/reun i find tr zong a cool anti offense tool as you can do epic things like okho latios/keldeo from full and overall still can work as a drago resist kind of. you can use lefties aswell though the damage drop is quite significant which im not sure if is worth doing that.

:bw/flygon:
Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Roost / Fire Punch
- U-turn
- Outrage

Cool scarfer that isnt weak to spikes , resist rocks which means you can spam u turn more easily and can outspeed volca since most just benchmark to have more speed than lando though you do speedtie with it. Hp ice i thought mostly to just do big chip on some switchins that may think flygon cant hurt them like gliscor and lando , roost ig is useless most of the time but idk thought would be cool to include , fire punch if you wanna punish ferro, steelsswitchins trying to switch on your u turn.

:bw/jirachi:
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 72 Atk / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wish / Healing wish
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch / Ice punch
- U-turn / Protect / Thunder

overall wish pass on this team felt like works pretty nicely even though it can make sometimes too dependant on wish i think it works on jira favour overall if you understand how to do wish on the right time , healing wish could potentially work imo specially if you only need certain mon healthy which for some reason you cant bring to half hp instead you heal for full though ofc your jira dies after that.

:bw/seismitoad:
Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Refresh
- Protect / Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Cool scald , wisp absorb mon and can annoy rain alot specially if their scald switching (ferro) isnt lum though cm keldeo can also take advantage of that so you can drop protect for Earthquake tho you will need to be a bit more careful around choice lock mons since you cant just scout their moves now and switch safely so will be a bit of a risk.

Heres the paste https://pokepast.es/128d65b218db6a43

feel free to suggest anything on the team. and have fun everyone ! (sry that i forgot to post replay which i peaked the ladder with is just that i couldnt save in time)

Interesting team Leo, looks very different from the usual and most importantly fun and I’m glad its picking up results on ladder.

Honestly Trick Room Bronzong isn’t actually awful in this tier, has a great typing and boasts very serviceable stats for the role. I like how you have paired this Bronzong set with Fire Blast Tyranitar to lure in Skarmory’s and Ferrothorn to help push through later on with Bronzong.

I understand the appeal for Reuniclus as well, another OTR Trick Room sweeper which granted needs to hit Focus Blast to do its job is a very efficient cleaner and doesn’t need to rely on support to set Trick Room up. It’s also Spike Immune which is great as both of your cleaners cant be put on a timer (outside of burn on Bronzong which Reuniclus can soak up for it)

One change i would like to suggest is adding another “real” Psychic as in a Psychic type or even a mon like Volcarona which will be forced to take damage checking it. I would do this to help open up Reuniclus end game much more easily without having to hit 2 Focus Blasts and be at full HP to win the 1v1 (since at the moment we are Spikeless with the only Tyranitar lure being Reuniclus itself). You could potentially go for the rarely seen Calm Mind Jirachi (weird set to fit a weird team ironic right) which can lure in Tyranitar to check it and hit it with a Grass Knot or even an Iron Head if you opt for an Iron Head, Ice, Thunder Calm Mind variant. More sanely you could also try Heatran which compresses Stealth Rock, Spike denial, potential Weather Reset and the ability to lure in Tyranitar for chip in one slot (this may end up a tiny bit ground weak so would use Air Balloon Heatran).

Other small tweeks would be making Bronzong the Macho Brace for high damage Gyro Ball’s without having to sacrifice you’re own HP and using Draco Metoer or Fire Blast on Flygon for more consistent damage while still hitting Landorus or for the latter more Spike Denial + easier breaking for Bronzong (this could also be a Life Orb Garchomp or Scarf Garchomp here).

Other options with this team could be using a Focus Sash Stealth Rock Lead Tyranitar and fully committing the Hyper Offence nature of the team.

Cool looking team I hope this helps. Goodluck with the ladder achievements!

Hi leoperi

This is an interesting team - as you know I was trying a lot with OTR Bronzong last year and think it matches up well into some of the current metagame trends.

The biggest issue here is that you basically hard counterteam opposing offense, but massively compromise your MU into fatter teams in doing so. You have your match-ups into LO Alakazam, Latios, Scarf Excadrill, Dragonite and so on absolutely locked down, double or trippled up in some cases, but I don't think you can consistently win games against well played Tyranitar/Skarmory/Gliscor, Lefties Ferrothorn, any kind of Blissey or Chansey stalls etc.

The root cause of this problem is a lack of attacking redundancy - i.e. your main sweepers get checked by different things, meaning they don't help break defensive cores for eachother. Your opponent can always save their Tyranitar to 2HKO your Reuniclus because nothing else on your team encourages Tyranitar to take damage. Likewise, you only break Skarmory Ferrothorn if your opponent doesn't scout for Fire Blast Tyranitar, which a decent opponent just won't let happen.

When you look at how offensive teams tend to be built, they will aim for a couple of Pokemon that are checked by the same defensive threats, so that those Pokemon get worn down. Right now the offensive pairing of Reuniclus and Bronzong lets the opponent bounce between their Skarmory and their Blissey/Chansey/Hippowdon, or worse, Pursuit the Reuniclus and then you can't beat Skarmory + Spikes.

I think TR Reuniclus AND Bronzong together is a really really tough build to get right and if I was being completely honest with my rate, I would try and commit to one and use the free slot to support the remaining sweeper better. Reuniclus would love a Spiker or another Psychic (Latios) in support, whilst Bronzong adores KyuB/SDChomp/Magnezone-type partners. I think thats really the way to take this team to the next level and I think there is definitely a limit to how good this can be with the current approach.

Needs to be said though, topping ladder with a team that predominantly plays under Trick Room is incredibly impressive and shows how far you have come as a player, fantastic job.
