~Solosis didn't get much from BW2. Trick is the only noteworthy addition, and it's not like it'll run choiced sets anytime soon.
~The current Trick Room set is fine, even though it should be emphasized that solosis has trouble setting up TR.

[Overview]

 • Base 105 SpA
 • Magic Guard, awesome ability for LO
 • Can't be worn down by hazards
 • Slow, but has trick room
 • Extremely powerful STAB Psychic
 • outspeeds everything under tr
 • Unfortunately, its pros end there
 • Can't setup because nearly no bulk
 • Psychic-type is poor offensively and defensively, even if it has good neutral coverage
 • Weak to priority
 • Overall a decent to good pokémon if you need a powerful attacker to clean late-game

[SET]
name: Trick Room
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Hidden Power Fighting
move 4: Thunder / Shadow Ball
item: Life Orb
ability: Magic Guard
nature: Quiet
evs: 236 HP / 240 SpA
ivs: 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD / 2 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

 • One of the, if not the most powerful special attacker in LC
 • Trick Room allows him to sweep lategame if fake out / sucker punch is eliminated
 • Psychic is the STAB move of choice, OHKOing many things and 2HKOing those that don't resist it
 • HP fighting KOes these pesky steel-types except Bronzor
 • Shadow Ball hits Misdreavus harder
 • Thunder allows him to hit a few key threats, such as OHKOing Murkrow/Vullaby after SR/Frillish after SR
 • Life Orb maximises its damage output and no recoil thanks to Magic Guard, yay!
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

 • EVs maximise bulk and special attack
 • quiet is for minimal speed and SpA, allowing it to nearly always go first in TR
 • Good teammates are things that can eliminate krow/priority users: magnemite is good, beating tirtouga before setup/subroost krow/shellder/snover, and can trap some annoying steels that aren't easily KOed by HP fighting
 • hazards setters are really nice because they give solosis important OHKOes, such as on Vullaby and Frillish with Thunder

[Other Options]

 • A gimmicky but effective CM/acidarmor/recover/Psychic with max physical bulk can be used as a late-game sweeper; it's beaten by misdreavus, though. You can replace Psychic with HP dragon / Flash Cannon if you really want to beat dark-types, but it's way weaker.
 • endeavor?
[Checks and Counters]

 • Hard to beat with residual damage
 • Krow/Pawniard are the ultimate counters thanks to sucker punch bypassing trick room and OHKOing solosis through its frail defenses
 • Ironically enough, Mienfoo can threaten solosis hard before TR with U-turn and stall down TR turns with Fake out
 • Basically anything that can tank an LO psychic can KO it on the next turn
 • Munchlax gets a special mention for being the only thing that outslows Solosis in TR and has high special bulk to tank its attacks

[Overview]

Solosis is one odd Pokemon. It's tied with Abra for being the strongest special attacker in the tier, boasting a base 105 Special Attack. Its ability, Magic Guard, prevents residual damage, whether is it from weather, entry hazards, or Life Orb. It has a really low base 20 Speed, which can be used to its advantage with Trick Room. However, the little blob does have some cons: it has abysmal defenses with Life Orb, making it very hard for it to set up Trick Room. It also boasts a terrible defensive typing, being weak to some of the most common attacking types in Ghost, Dark and Bug, and is weak to the most common priority move in the tier: Sucker Punch. Overall, Solosis is a good Pokemon that can prove useful if you provide it the right team support.

[SET] name: Trick Room move 1: Trick Room move 2: Psychic move 3: Hidden Power Fighting move 4: Thunder / Shadow Ball item: Life Orb ability: Magic Guard nature: Quiet evs: 236 HP / 240 SpA ivs: 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD / 2 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Solosis boasts a very high Special Attack, and it can make good use of its power with a Trick Room set. Solosis can easily take a hit from Timburr, Staryu, or Croagunk while being able to set up Trick Room; it can then use its powerful Life Orb-boosted attacks to clean the opposing team without taking recoil damage thanks to Magic Guard. Psychic is a reliable STAB, allowing Solosis to hit most Pokemon in the tier for a 2HKO, if not outright OHKOing them. Hidden Power Fighting hits most Steel-types for good damage, 2HKOing most of them, along with hitting Scraggy for decent damage. Thunder is the best option for the fourth moveslot, as despite its terrible accuracy, it allows Solosis to hit a few key threats, namely Murkrow, Frillish, and Vullaby, OHKOing them after Stealth Rock damage. Shadow Ball is a good alternative, hitting Misdreavus harder than any other move, but it's not OHKOing it anytime soon.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EV spread allows Solosis to maximize its bulk and Special Attack; a Quiet nature is used to lower its Speed and increase its Special Attack, allowing it to move before most Pokemon under Trick Room. Solosis needs priority users to be KOed before attempting to sweep; Magnemite is a good partner, eliminating Snover, Murkrow, Shellder, and Tirtouga in a pinch. Magnemite can also trap Steel-types that aren't weak to Hidden Power Fighting, such as Bronzor; it's also really useful because it lures in Pokemon such as Timburr and Croagunk for Solosis to set up against. Porygon is a viable partner too, luring in fighting-types and paralyzing Murkrow while tanking hits from it. Hazard setters, such as Drilbur and Dwebble, are excellent partners for Solosis, as Stealth Rock helps Solosis get a few important OHKOs, including KOs against Frillish and Vullaby.

[Other Options]

Solosis' movepool is quite shallow, but it has a few other options to use. Psyshock is a viable move on the Trick Room set, allowing it to beat specially defensive Pokemon such as Munchlax that don't take much from any of its moves. It's a weaker alternative than Psychic, though. A gimmicky Calm Mind set with Calm Mind/Acid Armor/Recover/Psychic and maximum investment in HP and Defense can be used as a late-game sweeper, but it's easily beaten by Misdreavus before it gets a chance to set up Calm Mind. The set can also use Flash Cannon or Hidden Power Dragon if you're afraid of Dark-types, but you lose a lot of power. An Endeavor set can possibly work, thanks to Magic Guard, but the sheer number of priority moves and recovery in LC makes it unviable.

[Checks and Counters]

It should be noted before considering any check or counter that Solosis can't be worn down by residual damage, thanks to its ability. Murkrow and Pawniard are the main counters to Solosis, as they wield a powerful priority Sucker Punch to hit Solosis for an OHKO before it even moves. However, they're both OHKOed by Thunder and Hidden Power Fighting, respectively. Ironically enough, Mienfoo can threaten Solosis outside of Trick Room with U-turn and stall Trick Room turns with Fake Out. Priority users are the bane of Solosis, as they bypass Trick Room and hit it through its frail defenses. Basically, anything that can tank a Life Orb-boosted Psychic can KO Solosis at the end of the turn, such as Porygon, Eviolite Offensive Chinchou, and Larvesta. Lileep under sandstorm can easily wall Solosis and slowly whittle it down with Giga Drain. Munchlax gets a special mention for being one of the few things that can outslow Solosis in Trick Room, tank any of its hits easily thanks to its high HP and Special Defense stats, and easily OHKO it with Return. It can be heavily damaged if it gets hit on the switch by Psyshock, though.

can someone here explain to me what niche this mon has over Eleygem, there probably is one I would just like to know.

That's an easy one. Elgyem needs to be slower for Analytic to work, so it can't run Trick Room at all. Solosis works wonderfully in Trick Room, functioning like Reuniclus in OU but with way more relative power. It also has Magic Guard, which is of course an awesome ability. The only reason Solosis (and Elgyem too) aren't more common is Sucker Punch, which has two users in Pawniard and Murkrow that smashes it regardless of Trick Room. Solosis is in no way outclassed by Elgyem, but since Trick Room requires a turn of setup, it's harder to pull off.

I'll QC this once the skeleton goes up!

Just a quick note, since this is still WIP, I would place a lot more emphasis on Trick Room in the Overview and in your future SC and AC. LC is a Speed dominated tier, and though Trick Room is a rare and unviable team startegy, it does help Solosis attack as a standalone sweeper and also screws up its opponents momentum whilst also turning itself into a monster. Trick Room is one of the major reasons why Solosis works, so be sure to emphasize that.

Also, just wondering, what does Thunder do? It has poor accuracy and really hits nothing except Murkrow and Vullaby. Shadow Ball smacks Ghost types and Psychic types hard, which seems a lot more useful than Thunder
We went over that on IRC. Thunder hits a few key things much harder than Shadow Ball, so be sure to list all of those key things. Also, I'm still for moving Thunder to AC but if you want to keep it where it is I'm ok with that too

Munchlax should be mentioned as the only feasible thing that can outslow Solosis, and with its high special bulk and powerful moves it can dispatch Solosis easily.

If you are really going to keep that CM set in OO, why not Psychic as its attacking move? You're never going to get to +6 with Dark-types on the other team anyway. The only thing that 4x resists it is Bronzor, whom neither Flash Cannon nor HP Dragon can beat anyway. It more than 2HKOes Lileep in sand at +6, beats Chinchou, and most Steel-types that aren't Pawniard can't hurt it.

Honestly I'd put Thunder as the first slash for the TR set. Shadow Ball is not OHKOing Missy or Frillish, and having something to beat Vullaby and Murkrow is probably worth it more. Sure, its accuracy is shaky, but it's better than nothing.

[qc]1/3[/qc]

Overview: Remove the line about being blazing fast in the Overview as that's not technically true. Say "it has abysmal defenses with Life Orb."

Set Comments: "Hidden Power Fighting hits most Steel-types for big damage, OHKOing the majority of them and even 2HKOing the sturdiest ones such as Ferroseed." this line is crazy inaccurate. HP Fighting doesn't OHKO Eviolite Magnemite or Ferroseed, and it doesn't even come close to 2HKOing Bronzor (252 SpAtk Life Orb Solosis (+SpAtk) Hidden Power Fighting vs 252 HP/0 SpDef Eviolite Bronzor: 28% - 36% (3-4 hits to KO)). Please correct that, and mention HP Fighting hits Scraggy. Likewise, make the order of things Thunder hits "Murkrow, Frillish, and Vullaby."

Mention here Pokemon Solosis sets Trick Room up on, such as Timburr, Mienfoo, Croagunk, etc.

Additional Comments: change "allowing it to outrun most Pokmon under Trick Room" to "allowing it to move before most Pokemon under Trick Room".

C&C: Murkrow and Pawniard are both OHKOed by a move on this set, so they are not hard counters. They do OHKO with their STAB moves though. Mention Lileep in Sand.

Banned deucer.
so i'm just reading through this and the checks and counters look terrible. The first two aren't really hard counters because they take massive damage from HP fight/Thunder, and I bet they are generally OHKO'd. Then you mention Mienfoo, which is cool I guess for stalling out turns, but dies to its main STAB.

Maybe list off a few pokemon that can tank a LO psychic and OHKO back?

Solosis is probably the most powerful sboasts a very high Special aAttacker in the tier,, (AC) and it can make good use of its power with a Trick Room set. (I altered the sentence because you already mentioned that statement in the Overview.) Solosis can easily take a hit from Timburr, Staryu, orand Croagunk andwhile being about to set up Trick Room:; it can then make use of its powerful Life Orb-boosted attacks to clean the opposing team without getttaking any recoil damage thanks to Magic Guard. Psychic is a reliable STAB, allowing it to hit most Pokemon for a 2HKO, if it's no doesn't outright OHKOing them. Hidden Power Fighting hits most Steel-types for good damage, 2HKOing most of them, and alsong with hitsting Scraggy for decent damage. (A lot of moves can hit Scraggy, so I added that last bit, assuming that's what you meant. If not, you can alter it with that same format in mind.) Thunder is the best option for the fourth moveslot, as despite its terrible accuracy, it allows Solosis to hit a few key threats, namely Murkrow, Frillish, Aand Vullaby, OHKOing them after Stealth Rock damage. Shadow Ball is viable tooa good alternative, hitting Misdreavus harder than any other move, but it's not OHKOing it anytime soon.

The EV spread allows Solosis to maximisze its bulk and Special Attack:; a Quiet nature is used to lower its Speed and increase its Special Attack, allowing it to move before most Pokemon under Trick Room. (iirc, from a Smogon article ':' separates a list that is a dependent clause, while a ';' sepates two independent that could be replaced with a period, which fits this sentence's standards, as well as the sentence in Set Commnets that I fixed.) Solosis needs priority users to be KOed before attempting to sweep:; Magnemite is a good partner, eliminating Snover, Murkrow, Shellder, and Tirtouga in a pinch. OK, just one nitpick on top of Governess' check

WHAT THE CHECK SAYS:

Solosis can easily take a hit from Timburr, Staryu, and Croagunk while being about to set up Trick Room; it can then use its powerful Life Orb-boosted attacks to clean the opposing team without taking recoil damage thanks to Magic Guard. Psychic is a reliable STAB, allowing it to hit most Pokemon for a 2HKO, if it doesn't outright OHKO them.
MY REVISION:
