Hey all! Let's get some Dex entries up in here! We are finally coming to a close on this monster project. CaP Main made 3 Pokemon, we've made SIX!

I'll be accepting both dex entries in the single thread! This means you can have 3 WIPS for each Pokemon! I am also accepting Final Submissions from the start of this thread! I will discuss with other mods how we will do the polls for these, but I will be leaning towards separate polls for each Pokemon (no linking). I would also like some suggested heights and weights for Pokemon so I can have some idea of how big you think these Pokemon should be!

Dex entries for Snaelstrom are as follows:

Snaelstrom, the Barrier Reef Pokémon

Sun: They carry entire ecosystems on their back. Even in death, their shells continue to provide shelter for all sorts of aquatic Pokémon.

Moon: Toxapex is its primary prey. Because of this, Corsola have formed a symbiotic relationship with Snaelstrom, maintaining its shell while also avoiding predation.

Ultra Sun: During tropical storms, it digs its feet into the ground. The currents warping its soft body have inspired all sorts of belly dances, though Snaelstrom itself is quite a clumsy dancer.

Ultra Moon: In order to help preserve their integrity, it will carefully rearrange coral reefs as it sees fit. If it becomes too focused, it may accidentally try to move smaller Pokémon around instead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Legal Pokedex submissions must meet the following standards
  • Pokedex Entries must have flawless grammar. Smogon has a Grammar & Prose team that will help identify mistakes.
  • Pokedex Entries cannot be longer than 32 words.
  • Pokedex Entries can only contain the following characters:
    • Letters A-Z
    • Numbers 0-9
    • Dash (-)
    • Apostrophe (')
    • Double quote (")
    • Period (.)
    • Comma (,)
    • Colon (:)
    • Semi-colon (;)
    • Space
Work In Progress (WIP) Pokedex Entries can be posted at any time for comments from the community.
No more than three WIP Pokedex Entries can be posted by any individual person through the entire course of the submission thread. This limit applies to ALL posts made by a single person, even if previous posts are edited or deleted. This limit is intended to curb the tendency for some submitters to spam the thread repeatedly with multiple Pokedex Entries. This detracts from other submissions and makes it difficult for commenters to survey the submission thread.
Do not bump your WIP Pokedex Entries by posting them repeatedly, or making minor wording changes. Bumping will result in the disqualification of all Pokedex Entries by the offender. Editing or deleting bump posts will not prevent disqualification.
Only ONE Final Submission can be made per person.
Pokedex Entry Final Submissions can only be posted after a CAP Moderator posts in the thread that final submissions are open. Any final submission posted prior to the Moderator notification post, will disqualify the submitter from the poll entirely. Even if the offending post is edited later or deleted, the submitter will still be disqualified for the remainder of the thread. This ensures that all submitters have equal opportunity to post final submissions without anyone unfairly "jumping the gun".
Pokedex entries Final Submissions must posted exactly in the following format and in the following exact order:
  • The first line of the post must have the words "Final Submission" in bold on it's own line. No other text may be included before the bold heading.
  • A blank line
  • "<Pokemon Name>, the <Species Name> Pokemon", with the Pokemon name and the Species Name in bold
  • A blank line
  • The Sun Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Sun" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Moon Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Moon" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Ultra Sun Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Ultra Sun" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Ultra Moon Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Ultra Moon" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
Below the Final Submission you can post other comments, explanations, etc.
Example final submission:
Final Submission
Magearna
, the Artificial Pokémon
Sun: This artificial Pokémon, constructed more than 500 years ago, can understand human speech but cannot itself speak.
Moon: Its mechanized body is merely a vessel. Its true self is its Soul-Heart, an artificial soul.
Ultra Sun: It synchronizes its consciousness with others to understand their feelings. This faculty makes it useful for taking care of people.
Ultra Moon: Built roughly 500 years ago by a scientist, the part called the Soul-Heart is the actual life-form.
Any Final Submission that does not follow the proper format will be disqualified.
Swirlpool
, the Reef Slug Pokémon
Sun: The swirl on its head is as absorbent as a sponge. It draws water from its swirl when spending long times on land.
Moon: The coral tail on its backside holds in oxygen it filtered from water, allowing it to breathe on land.
Ultra Sun: Coral reefs teeming with Swirlpool tend to generate nutritious minerals, speeding up the growth of its inhabitants.
Ultra Moon: Pools of Swirlpool are commonly seen at the edge of reefs, where they grow the boundary of its home.
Swirlpool, the Coral Reef Pokémon
Sun: It spends its whole life travelling across the reefs that it calls home. Paths that Swirlpool have crossed can be identified from their abundance.
Moon: The round membrane on its head stores oxygen. Even in the roughest storms it is able to stay buoyant.
Ultra Sun: As Swirlpool age, the branches on its tail become longer and longer. It is easy to determine when it is ready to evolve for this reason.
Ultra Moon: Its body is coated in a slimy membrane that is collected and sold at high prices. It is renowned for its healing properties.
Coribalis, the Coral Reef Pokémon
Sun: It is naturally immune to all sorts of toxins. It defends other Pokémon from Mareanie and Tentacool.
Moon: Despite their elegance, they are very foul tempered. It is said that when ships experience rough waters an angry Coribalis is to blame.
Ultra Sun: Coribalis have four sturdy tentacles that keep it anchored to coral sheets. It moves with a swaying motion in time with the tides.
Ultra Moon: Many dances have been inspired by the rhythmic clapping of its shells. Scientists have discovered that this behaviour is actually a warning.
This one stood out to me bc I seen it a lot; I think the Pokédex should be informative and "it is said" entries don't really make sense if the writer has caught a swirlpool and could easily test such a thing. I think it's okay for situations like "it is said this Pokémon existed before the creation of the universe" where it can't be known, but in this situation id just say that the membrane has healing properties.
That's fair enough, but personally I think it's alright because there's quite a few Pokedex entries that use these 'it is said' for rumours. For example Parasect in one of the entries says 'the spores are used as herbal medicine' which Swirlpool could be doing as well. Komala's is more informative however saying it can be used as a medicine substitute so I think there's room for either direction.'
EDIT: Have amended to 'it is renowned for' instead. The more I thought about it, the more I realised that you were right and it didn't quite fit the tone of the start of its entry.
Swirlpool, the Sea Slug Pokémon
Sun: It breathes through its thin, moist skin, and can accurately judge when the water around it is dirty. It will only seek shelter in environments that are clean and healthy.
Moon: The swirly sac on its head allows it to store water to breathe when venturing onto the coast. In such times, it secretes a coating of protective mucus around the sac.
Ultra Sun: The gills on its back act as both signal flags and dowsing rods. If it finds a place it likes, its gills perk up and brighten in color, attracting others of its kind.
Ultra Moon: Despite its cute appearance, it is a formidable predator, boldly attacking Mareanie and gobbling up the poisonous spines. For some reason, it doesn't even get sick afterwards.
Final Submission
Swirlpool
, the Tide Pool Pokémon
Sun: It filters oxygen from the surrounding air by using the coral on its back. If damaged, it will seek refuge underwater until the coral has grown back.
Moon: It constantly fusses with the spiral organ on its head. It uses sticky mucus to help it maintain its shape.
Ultra Sun: A curious Pokemon that leaves behind sticky mucus trails as it explores. It can easily scale up vertical walls, but will leave a big mess in its wake.
Ultra Moon: Having a deceptively voracious appetite, it feeds upon caustic chemicals deemed too dangerous for humans and other Pokemon.
Final Submission
Coribalis
, the Coral Reef Pokémon
Sun: Its limbs undulate hypnotically as if it were dancing. It defends itself by waving them swiftly to whip up whirlpools.
Moon: This Pokemon carefully selects the coral that it wears on its back. The old coral is sown on the seabed, becoming the start of a vibrant reef.
Ultra Sun: Venomous Pokemon that harm coral reefs are its prey. It uses the leftover spines of Mareanie to decorate itself with.
Ultra Moon: It dons a pair of fan coral on its back. It spins and flaps them around rhythmically, mimicking the wingbeat of airborne bug Pokemon.
