Welcome to the CAP Metagame forum! This forum is used to discuss all things about the CAP Metagame, an unofficial metagame where Pokemon created by the CAP Project are allowed alongside regular Pokemon. This metagame is a parallel to the OU metagame and follows most of its rules and banlist, although some additional changes might be made if they council deems it necessary.

Forum Rules:
  • All new threads must be approved by a moderator.
  • All discussion should be based on the current CAP metagame, unless the thread specifies otherwise. This is not the place for speculation, both for future in-game content and for future/ongoing CAP Projects.
  • Do not post about any personal creations. We're not interested in them. Posts that don't follow this rule will be deleted.
  • Do not create threads just to ask questions. Instead, make use of the simple questions thread.
- Don't double post. There's an edit button for a reason. If you need to delete one of your posts, the delete button is an option after selecting edit.

- Make the effort for your posts to be grammatically correct and coherent. We understand that not everyone speaks English as their first language, and we're willing to give some leeway here. However, if English is your first language, you really have no excuse to be making incoherent posts. Bad formatting not only makes your posts unpleasant to read, but they also lessen the positive impact of the points you're trying to make.

- Don't put your opinion in hide tags. This isn't really infraction-worthy, but if you're going to write a paragraph of your thoughts and opinions, make it visible. Hide tags have their place, but hiding your opinions in hide tags is apt to make people not read them at all. There is enough censorship on the internet already, don't censor yourself here.

- Avoid excessive quoting. It's obnoxious, especially when you quote three paragraphs to answer with a one-liner. Please don't do that.

- Don't reply to a quote by putting bold text inside the quote box. This is exceedingly difficult to properly respond to. If you feel the need to break up a quote, you can do so by editing the quote tags. For example:

Code:
[QUOTE=User's Name]
Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2
[/QUOTE]
Would become:

Code:
[QUOTE=User's Name]
Paragraph 1
[/QUOTE]

Response

[QUOTE]
Paragraph 2
[/QUOTE]
-Correcting users when they say something that's clearly wrong is fine, but do not insult or flame other users. Doing so will result in an automatic 2-point infraction. No exceptions for anyone, badged users included.

Nerfing Process, Suspect Tests and Quick bans:

In case a CAP is deemed too unhealthy/broken, here's the procedure we would follow in order to deal with it:
  1. The CAP Metagame Council identifies a broken/unhealthy threat. Input from the metagame discussion thread, Discord, high-level tournament replays, etc. are ways the community can voice their concerns to the CAP Metagame council.
  2. The CAP Metagame Council begins a thread. The OP, written by the CAP Metagame Council, summarizes why the Pokemon is broken. Metagame shifts, game mechanics changing, or OU bans can be potential points. The CAP Metagame council will also include a checks and counters list. Hard-counters to soft-checks, hazard damage, relative ability to switch-in, etc. should be considered. Keep in mind that with the broken Pokemon in the metagame, we can continue to understand why it is broken.
  3. In the thread, the community discusses the simplest solution(s) to making the CAP not broken. Here, we can well-define a new list of checks and counters. Some solutions may be changing its ability to one that's similar but not as good, reducing its speed tier, removing some of its bulk or attack, or removing a certain move or two from its movepool. The community will play a huge role in identifying what solutions are available, but CAP Metagame Council will have the final say on what nerf is implemented. Keep in mind that the nerf(s) that is(are) implemented MUST preserve the identity of the CAP (i.e. Necturna uses Sketch, Pajantom uses its powerful trapping move, etc.).

Apart from that, the metagame council can issue suspect tests/quickbans for other non-CAP elements of the metagame if deemed necessary.
