Carnivine (mini) [QC 0/2]

writer is mia, reassigning
[OVERVIEW]
Carnivine is a lackluster choice for a setup sweeper, with its low Speed and coverage giving it little reason to use over other physical Grass-types such as Leafeon and Shiftry, both of which have the same or higher Attack and Speed stats. It also has a poor ability in Levitate which, while providing Carnivine immunity to Ground-type moves, is slightly pointless as it would otherwise resist Ground-type attacks anyway. While Carnivine has a small niche in Power Whip, it's setup move, Swords Dance, is shared by both of it's aforementioned competitors.

[SET]
**This should be the best possible moveset for the Pokemon, even if the set is still not good.**
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Sleep Powder
move 3: Power Whip
move 4: Return / Knock Off
item: Grassium Z
ability: Levitate
nature: Adamant
evs: 108 HP / 252 Atk / 148 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
The set revolves around the use of Grassium Z to either turn Power Whip into a Grass-type nuke or Z-Sleep Powder to boost Carnivine's Speed before setting up. However, the concept of a sleep-inducing setup sweeper is largely overshadowed by Lilligant, another Grass-type who has access to both Sleep Powder and Quiver Dance. Additionally, the role of a physical Grass-type wallbreaker is better filled by Leafeon, who is relatively fast even without a boost.

[OVERVIEW]
Carnivine is a lackluster choice for a setup sweeper, with it's (its) low Speed and coverage giving it little reason to use over other physical Grass-types such as Leafeon and Cacturne, Cacturne isn't a very good example, I'd put Shiftry or make Leafeon the only example. both of which have higher Attack and Speed stats. I'd rephrase it to put the bit about its competition and the last point in one sentence and idk if Power Whip should be mentioned. Also, if you're going to keep Cacturne, it usually doesn't run SD but mixed spikes

[SET]
**This should be the best possible moveset for the Pokemon, even if the set is still not good.**
name: Z-Sleep Powder Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Sleep Powder
move 3: Power Whip
move 4: Return I'd slash knock off here
item: Grassium Z
ability: Levitate
nature: Adamant
evs: 108 HP / 252 Atk / 148 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
The set revolves around the use of Z-Sleep Powder, Z-Sleep Powder is fairly mediocre, since it's still extremely slow even after a boost, I'd make this Bloom Doom which provides Carnivine with a small opportunity to set up while boosting it's speed. However, the concept of a sleep-inducing setup sweeper is largely overshadowed by Lilligant, another Grass-type who has access to both Sleep Powder and Quiver Dance. Both Leafeon and Cacturne also largely surpass Carnivine as strong physical Grass-types. Meh, I'd put Leafeon first since it's its biggest competitor as a physical grass type wallbreaker and you should mention why Leafeon is the superior option. Ig that you can say that it suffers from competition from Lilligant but they don't really have the same role. Again, idk about Cacturne

Carnivine is a lackluster choice for a setup sweeper, with its low Speed and coverage giving it little reason to use over other physical Grass-types such as Leafeon and Shiftry, both of which have the same or higher Attack and Speed stats (shiftry also gets a stab bonus on knock and has sucker). It also has a poor ability in Levitate which, while providing Carnivine immunity to Ground-type moves, is slightly pointless as it would otherwise resist Ground-type attacks anyway (this isn't rly worth a full sentence, esp since spikes/tspikes immunity is actually quite helpful. would talk about shiftry and leafeon having chlorophyll in the previous sentence tho). While Carnivine has a small niche in Power Whip, it's setup move, Swords Dance, is shared by both of it's aforementioned competitors.

(mention carnivine's poor bulk and speed somewhere)

However, the concept of a sleep-inducing setup sweeper is largely overshadowed by Lilligant, another Grass-type who has access to both Sleep Powder and Quiver Dance (change wording, you make it sound like carnivine has qd). Additionally, the role of a physical Grass-type wallbreaker is better filled by Leafeon, who is relatively fast even without a boost. (go into better detail why other grass sweepers are better. mainly just bringing up carnivine's terrible stats)
