Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Aqua Jet
- Stone Edge
- Superpower

Carracosta stands out as PU's best Shell Smash user thanks to its fantastic ability, bulk, offensive typing, Attack stat, and movepool. It can set up on physical attackers like Kangaskhan, Lycanroc, and Skuntank, and break cores such as Ferroseed + Clefairy. Carracosta can also threaten out Choiced-locked Pokemon such as Stoutland and Pyroar once they have been scouted, which creates additional opportunities to set up Shell Smash. Carracosta has adapted to the current metagame, as it's able to beat what was otherwise its best counter in Ferroseed with All-Out Pummeling, and it can also beat or severely cripple bulky Water-types such as Gastrodon and Poliwrath. Furthermore, Carracosta sets itself apart from other Shell Smash users such as Gorebyss and Turtonator due to its ability to get past revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Primeape and Pyroar with Aqua Jet. However, along with the recent rise in the popularity of Lilligant and the competition it faces from Kingler, Carracosta also struggles with its low Special Defense and many common weaknesses, so teammates such as Mesprit, Togedemaru, Ferroseed, and Eelektross are ideal.

Carracosta stands out as PU's best Shell Smash user thanks to its fantastic ability, bulk, offensive typing, Attack stat, and versatile movepool in conjunction with Shell Smash. It can set up on physical attackers like Kangaskhan, Lycanroc-Midday, and Skunktank, and break cores such as Ferroseed + Clefairy. Carracosta can also easily threaten out choiced-locked Pokemon such as Pyroar and Stoutland (although it doesn't like to take a specs hyper voice, and pyroar has to have been scouted so ensure it isnt the z move set), which creates additional opportunities to set up Shell Smash. Carracosta has adapted to the current metagame as its able to lure what was otherwise its best counter in Ferroseed with All-Out-Plummingling. It also benefits from recent metagame trends such as the decrease in Gastrodon usage due to the recent Archeops ban (too early to see decreased usage in gastrodon, especially when kingler is also a rising threat) (+2 aop really messes gastro up unless it's a 100%, so i'd mention that). Furthermore, Carracosta sets itself apart from other Shell Smash users such as Gorebyss and Turtonator due to its ability to get past revenge killers such as Primeape and Togedemaru with Aqua Jet (i understand the point but togedemaru does nothing to turtonator). However, along with the recent rise in Liligant (lilligant) and Poliwrath (see beneath)+ the competition it faces from Kingler, Carracosta also struggles with a low special defense stat and many common weaknesses, so teammates such as Mesprit, Ferroseed, and Eelectross (eelektross) are ideal.

talk a tiny bit about how aop basically destroys most water-types that check costa when it's at +2

+2 252+ Atk Carracosta All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Poliwrath: 297-350 (77.3 - 91.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252+ Atk Carracosta All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 365-430 (85.6 - 100.9%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
Talked on discord too, but also implement this. If you do, QC 1/1.

Carracosta stands out as PU's best Shell Smash user thanks to its fantastic ability, bulk, offensive typing, Attack stat, and versatile (changing the adjective up here messes with the parallelism) movepool in conjunction with Shell Smash. (redundant) It can set up on physical attackers like Kangaskhan, Lycanroc-Midday Lycanroc, and Skunktank, (RC) Skuntank and break cores such as Ferroseed + Clefairy. Carracosta can also threaten out choiced-locked Choice-locked Pokemon such as Stoutland and Pyroar, (RC) once they have been scouted, which creates additional opportunities to set up Shell Smash. Carracosta has adapted to the current metagame, (AC) as its it's able to lure beat what was otherwise its best counter in Ferroseed with All-Out-Plummingling All-Out Pummeling, while also beating or severely crippling and it can also beat or severely cripple bulky water-types Water-types such as Gastrodon and Poliwrath. Furthermore, Carracosta sets itself apart from other Shell Smash users such as Gorebyss and Turtonator due to its ability to get past revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Primeape and Pyroar with Aqua Jet. However, along with the recent rise in the popularity of Lilligant and the competition it faces from Kingler, Carracosta also struggles with a low special defense its low Special Defense stat and many common weaknesses, so teammates such as Mesprit, Togedemaru, Ferroseed, and Eelektross are ideal.
