PU Castform mini

[OVERVIEW]

Castform may have a wide variety of support and coverage moves at its disposal, but it lacks the stats to utilize them properly. Worse still, it relies on having the right weather up to even get STAB on a lot of these moves, meaning it has no breaking power outside of weather, and thanks to its weak offensive stats, it still hits like a wet paper bag even with weather up. Its low Speed tier and lack of a Speed-boosting ability means it's easily revenge-killed. Please refrain from using Castform on any serious team and just use Ludicolo instead.

[SET]
name: Z-Rain Dance
move 1: Rain Dance
move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Thunder
item: Waterium Z
ability: Forecast
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

The goal of this set is simple: set up Z-Rain Dance and attempt to "sweep". Castform's wide coverage movepool seems enticing, but the limited duration of this rain means it has limited time to actually do anything, not to mention the fact that other rain sweepers, such as Omastar and Ludicolo, have just as good coverage. In addition, its poor stats and lack of a STAB move outside of rain mean you will usually just end up using it as fodder. If you want an offensive rain sweeper, use Ludicolo: it can sweep without relying on a Z-Move, it has much better stats, and it has all the coverage it needs between its STAB moves and Ice Beam.

Castform is just a horrible Pokemon in general. It may have a wide variety of support and coverage moves at its disposal, but it lacks the stats to utilize them properly (gets no stab on anything either). Do not use Castform unless you are aiming to lose.

(ngl this is kinda barebones. among its poor stats you should mention how a lack of swift swim and no stab bonuses means it can't break and it gets revenged really easily. I'd also bring up ludicolo early here to really emphasize how you're better off using that)

The goal of this set is simple: set up Z-Rain Dance and attempt to "sweep". Castform's wide coverage movepool does give it an edge over other rain sweepers, but the limited duration of this rain means it has limited time to actually do anything (no stabs and poor stats here as well). Honestly, if you want an offensive rain sweeper, use Ludicolo (tone down the casual talk pls): it can sweep without relying on a Z-move, it has much better stats, and it has all the coverage it needs between its STABs and Ice Beam.

ah that appears to be an error on my part, apologies. I'd probably just mention how other rain sweepers get dual typings but otherwise my check still stands
