Choice Band (Zamazenta) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sword of Ruin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Heavy Slam
[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Band Zamazenta leverages its amazing Speed tier good Attack, great natural bulk, and spammable STAB in Close Combat to serve as one of the tier's most consistent and dangerous wallbreakers and revenge killers. Crunch smacks Ghost- and Psychic-types like Pecharunt, Gholdengo, and Latios hard, Stone Edge OHKOes Flying-types like Zapdos and Moltres while being Zamazenta's strongest move into Fluffy Corviknight and Skarmory, and Heavy Slam threatens a would be check in Scream Tail while dealing hefty damage to Primarina.
Zamazenta fits on numerous playstyles that are in need of a fast and deadly wallbreaker that acts as a stopgap to Dark-types like Roaring Moon, Kingambit, and Chien-Pao. This makes teammates like who are scared of them, like Latios, Gholdengo, and Pecharunt good partners, with the aforementioned Latios and Gholdengo helping to alleviate Zamazenta's inability to break past physical walls like Pecharunt, Fluffy Corviknight, and Great Tusk. Furthermore, Zamazenta helps to threaten the special walls Gholdengo and Latios may struggle with, such as RegenVest Swampert, Manaphy, and Iron Treads. Zamazenta appreciates entry hazard support from setters like Garchomp, Scream Tail, and Ting-Lu, allowing it to wear down opposing physical walls faster and overwhelm them.

Other Options
=============
Howl is an excellent move on All-out Attacking variants that trade a coverage option for the ability to set up and punish predicted switches harder. Fire Fang is an option on Choice Band and All-out Attacker variants thst allows Zamazenta to hit Fluffy Corviknight and Skarmory, with the former variant threatening to 2HKO Fluffy Corviknight with light chip. Heavy Slam is an option on IronPress variants to deal hefty damage to Scream Tail, who would wall Zamazenta and force it out otherwise. Substitute is also an option on IronPress sets, allowing Zamazenta to set up without fear of status and making it harder to revenge kill. Wild Charge is another move worth using on Choice Band and All-out Attacker sets as it hits Primarina hard while being a solid midground option due to its non-negligible damage output. Magic Guard + Life Orb variants can consider using Moonblast to lure and remove Fluffy Great Tusk who can otherwise check Zamazenta consistently, but this is niche at best and not worth using over other moves.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Physical walls**: Physical walls such as Fluffy Corviknight, Skarmory, and Great Tusk can consistently switch into Zamazenta and force it out or take the opportunity to set up or remove entry hazards.
**Physically defensive Ghost-types**: Pecharunt is a good counter to Zamazenta, being capable of consistently living Crunches from Zamazenta and threatening it in return with Malignant Chain, while Gholdengo and Sinistcha, when equipped with Fluffy, can threaten Zamazenta out or use it as setup fodder, respectively.
**Fairy-types**: Scream Tail and Primarima are capable of surviving most of Zamazenta's attacks and force it out in return.
**Fast Psychic-types**: Deoxys-S, Choice Scarf Latios, and Azelf all outspeed and threaten to OHKO Zamazenta or force it out.
