[OVERVIEW]

Nasty Plot Celebi is a good wallbreaker that can also check Water- and Electric-types like Milotic, Seismitoad, and Xurkitree. However, Celebi has to choose between its coverage options or recovery, which lets certain Pokemon wall it. Celebi's typing also gives it many exploitable weaknesses, making it easy to revenge kill and at times difficult to switch in. Especially notable is Celebi's U-turn weakness; despite being a check to Raikou and Xurkitree, Celebi can simply get hit by Volt Switch and then immediately get forced out by U-turn from Pokemon such as Crobat and Flygon. Celebi should also be weary of Shadow Ball when trying to check Raikou.

[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Aura Sphere / Earth Power / Leaf Storm
move 4: Recover / Leaf Storm
item: Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers / Life Orb
ability: Natural Cure
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Psychic is critical for threatening Flying-types like Togekiss and Crobat. Aura Sphere is a great complement to Psychic, hitting Guzzlord, Umbreon, and Steel-types, while Earth Power is better against Metagross. Leaf Storm immediately threatens Reuniclus and Water-types such as Starmie and Milotic; threatening these Water-types is important, as they can otherwise safely pivot into a teammate, and Haze Milotic can even beat Celebi. On more offensive or balance teams that do not require Celebi's longevity, Recover can be dropped for Leaf Storm. Heavy-Duty Boots makes Celebi a better check to pivot Raikou and Xurkitree, Leftovers is better on non-Recover sets, and Life Orb lets Celebi 2HKO Metagross with Earth Power and OHKO Togekiss with +2 Psychic.

Noivern and Crobat can help pivot Celebi in against Diancie, Steelix, and Gastrodon to give it set up opprotunities. Celebi struggles to break through Umbreon, Reuniclus, and opposing Celebi. Bewear and Pangoro can take advantage of Umbreon, while Escavalier and Haze Milotic can help handle Reuniclus. Togekiss, Umbreon, and Bronzong can check opposing Celebi. Celebi is easily forced out by Flying-types like Crobat and Choice Scarf Togekiss, so Flying-resistant Pokemon such as Registeel, Diancie, and Steelix are good teammates; in return, they appreciate Celebi's ability to check Water-types. Golisopod, Heracross, Escavalier, and Incineroar are good at luring in checks to Celebi such as Crobat and Togekiss with Knock Off, removing their Heavy-Duty Boots and leaving them vulnerable to Stealth Rock.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Celebi can run no item to give itself an immunity to Poltergeist, allowing it to check Golurk and Dhelmise, though Celebi should still be weary of Golurk's Shadow Punch. Pollen Puff lets Celebi break past Dark- and Pychic-types such as Reuniclus and opposing Celebi; however, Pollen Puff is generally worse than Celebi's other options given the higher relative importance of Steel- and Water-types. Celebi can run an effective utility set of Grass Knot, Thunder Wave, Recover, and U-turn. Thunder Wave dissuades faster switch-ins like Crobat, while U-turn can take advantage of slower bulky switch-ins for powerful wallbreakers such as Pangoro.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types**: Crobat, Noivern, and Togekiss threaten Celebi for massive damage. However, they struggle to switch directly into Psychic, especially at +2.

**Steel-types**: Stealth Rock Metagross and Registeel check Celebi, though the former loses quickly to Earth Power variants and Registeel struggles if it switches in on Nasty Plot. Bronzong checks Celebi through Toxic and Heavy Slam but takes notable damage from boosted Aura Sphere. Escavalier completely walls Celebi and can use it for easy wallbreaking opportunities.

**Psychic- and Dark-types**: Healthy Umbreon forces out even boosted Celebi, but it is likely 2HKOed by +2 Aura Sphere after Stealth Rock. Reuniclus walls Celebi lacking Leaf Storm, with Assault Vest Reuniclus even checking Leaf Storm Celebi. Guzzlord and specially defensive Incineroar can take Aura Sphere and force Celebi out, although they can get quickly worn down by Life Orb Celebi. Offensive Incineroar can force Celebi out, but it is 2HKOed by Aura Sphere and OHKOed by +2 Aura Sphere.

**Fire-types**: Salazzle, Chandelure, and Entei can all scare out Celebi, but none of them can switch into Celebi safely due to Psychic and Earth Power.

**Revenge Killers**: Celebi's many weaknesses make it easy for foes like Golisopod, Choice Scarf Heracross, Crobat, and Sharpedo to revenge kill it. U-turn from many revenge killers such as Crobat, Flygon, and Talonflame can force Celebi out and gain momentum.

Celebi is a good pivot and utility option in the metagame with because of it's its defensive profile, recovery, Natural Cure, and solid Speed tier be more specific than "defensive profile" - what type of mons exactly is it switching into and whys it relevant. Celebi can check the Electric- and Water-types of the tier like Suicune, Raikou, and Xurkitree. Grass Knot is chosen as Celebi's Grass STAB because it's going to have higher BP vs most relevant Grass-type switch ins such as Metagross, Cobalion, and Golisopod, however it fails to hit Diancie hard at all, which you could run Leaf Storm for this isn't a great reason to run grass knot i think, most of the time you'd either want to thunder wave or uturn those guys (also golisopod isn't a grass switchin) but i am unsure what id put on the main set . Celebi can run Leaf Blade and change its EV spread and nature appropriately which reliably checks Calm Mind Suicune and non-Shadow Ball Calm Mind Raikou, but it gives up damage on many of the heavy Steel-types such as Metagross and Cobalion that would swap into it. Celebi can paralyze faster Flying-types like Crobat, Talonflame, and Noivern and does so reliably thanks to its Grass STAB threatening the Electric- and Ground-types of the tier except Defog Flygon. Heal Bell can be used over Thunder Wave to give its team cleric support if necessary but makes Celebi a lot less threatening. Celebi is a poor Stealth Rock setter because it loses to the common Defog Crobat however it can fill this role if necessary. Celebi can run Leaf Blade and change its EV spread and nature appropriately which reliably checks Calm Mind Suicune and non-Shadow Ball Calm Mind Raikou, but it gives up damage on many of the heavy Steel-types such as Metagross and Cobalion that would swap into Celebi. Celebi has the option to run a Choice Scarf with Trick over Thunder Wave, which cripples its usual responses especially hard, however Trick is more prediction heavy then than Thunder Wave is. The Defense investment on this set lives Mienshao U-turn and the speed gets past Mimikyu.

Celebi is good at luring in Flying-types like Togekiss and Crobat giving opportunity opportunities to teammates such as Toxtricity, Xurkitree, and Raikou. Celebi is also good at luring in Steel-types like Metagross and Registeel as well as Reuniclus for wallbreakers such as Golurk, Chandelure, and Heracross to take advantage of. these two sentences are pretty much the same thing, i would combine it to say something like "common switching to celebi are flying and steel types, so teammatesthat can exploit a free switchin into these such as x, x, and x, are appreciated" or something similar. Celebi dDespite being a Fighting resist Celebi is not good at checking the Fighting-types of the tier because of its weakness to U-turn and Knock Off, so secondary fighting resists such as Crobat, Talonflame, and Noivern alleviate this issue. Bulky Water-type teammates such as Milotic and Gastrodon can cover for Celebi's weakness to fire and vulnerability to some of the tiers Steel-types. Celebi's weakness to Flying can be covered by teammates such as Stakataka, Diancie, and Metagross all of which also appreciate Celebi checking Water-types.

Nasty Plot Celebi can use its bulk and defensive typing to check threats and serve as a dangerous wallbreaker i would mention it has v good coverage too. Celebi finds set up opportunity versus many of the tiers defensive Pokemon such as Steelix, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon. Celebi is also able to keep offensive Pokemon in check like Xurkitree, and Raikou. Psychic is necessary to hit Crobat, Togekiss, (AC) and other Flying-types, and the best compliment to Psychic is Earth Power which hits Steel-types as well as Incineroar. The combination of Earth power and Psychic + Ground coverage does miss out on a few important Pokemon such as mainly, Celebi itself, Reuniclus, and Umbreon. On offensive teams that don't need Celebi's longevity or balance teams that can pivot it in reliably and don't need its longevity, (AC) Recover can be dropped for Pollen Puff or Shadow Ball, both of these hit Reuniclus and Celebi, however Shadow ball hits Bronzong and Xatu where as whereas Pollen Puff hits Umbreon and Obstagoon. Leaf Storm is another option with the benefit of immediately scaring out Milotic who with Haze could beat Celebi in the one versus one. Life Orb is the preferred item as it lets Celebi pick up important OHKOs and 2HKOs, such as being able to OHKO Crobat, 2HKO Metagross, and break through Haze Milotic if you boosted on the switch. the interaction with haze milo is unclear here. first you say you need leaf storm to scare it out then say you beat it with lo regardless? Heavy-duty boots give up wallbreaking potential to let Celebi check Xurkitree and Raikou better.

Celebi appreciates teammates able to pivot it into favorable matchups for set up. (period) Crobat, and Noivern can help pivot Celebi in versus Stakataka, Registeel, and Diancie all of which Celebi can set up on. Celebi struggles to break through a few Pokemon without extra coverage mainly Reuniclus, Celebi and Umbreon, Incineroar and Golurk, can check Reuniclus, and Cobalion, Togekiss, and Mienshao can check Umbreon. Opposing Celebi can be handled by Togekiss, Talonflame, and Bronzong. Celebi is easily revenge killed by Flying-types like Crobat so Flying resists such as Stakataka, Diancie, and Registeel are good teammates. mention pokemon that appreciate celebi switching into waters/elecs for them

I asked zizalith and he said sure to putting Pollen Puff before Shadow Ball which idt should be on the main set at all given the prominence of its targets Bronzong and Xatu. Leaf Storm still hits Umbreon and Obstagoon but also hits Milotic so I do think its overall a better option.

**Psychic- and Dark-types** Umbreon, Celebi itself, and Reuniclus can all wall Nasty Plot Celebi unless its packing extra coverage, Incineroar has enough special bulk to take even Life Orb Earth Power.

**Fire-types** Salazzle, Chandelure, and Choice Scarf Darmanitan can all scare out Celebi, however none of them switch into Celebi safely fearing Earth Power and Thunder Wave.

**Revenge Killers** Celebi's many weakness make it easy to revenge kill Golisopod, Choice Scarf Heracross, Crobat, and Sharpedo can all revenge kill Celebi. Many potential revenge killers also run U-turn, which allows them to seize momentum from Celebi by forcing it to switch out due to its quad weakness to Bug.

Thank you for your QC check and I tried to fix the grammar.

Was having trouble finding good examples of LO being helpful. Honestly LO doesn't seem too helpful in wallbreaking and you become worse at checking the Electrics should be unslashed imo and left as a mention or OO. checking Xurkitree is very important.

EDIT also added Dhelmise as a mention as something that running no item checks

EDIT 2: I tried to fix up the grammar more

[OVERVIEW]

Celebi can either be a wallbreaker with Nasty Plot,(RC) or a pivot, given many opportunities from its defensive profile checking Pokemon such as Milotic, Xurkitree, and Steelix. Nasty Plot Celebi has coverage issues, having to pick its poison of being walled by certain Pokemon, or give up its recovery. Celebi can also run a more niche utility set which isn't very threatening on its own, however it can create valuable openings for its teammates with U-turn and Thunder Wave. Heavy-Duty Boots allow Celebi to best make use of its defensive utility to check offensive Pokemon such as Xurkitree and Raikou, and its it’s not as often forced to lose momentum with Recover. Celebi's typing leaves it with many exploitable weaknesses, leaving it easy to revenge kill and sometimes struggling to find opportunities to switch in, especially notable is due to its 4x U-turn weakness meaning despite its ability to check Raikou and Xurkitree, it can simply get hit by Volt Switch and then immediately get forced out by U-turn from Pokemon such as Talonflame or Flygon. Celebi should also be weary of Shadow Ball when trying to check Raikou.(AP)

Celebi's bulk and defensive typing give it ample opportunity to set up Nasty Plot. Heavy-Duty Boots are the preferred item, letting Celebi make best use of its defensive typing to check threats, mainly Raikou and Xurkitree as taking Stealth Rock or Spikes entry hazard damage on top of Volt Switch makes it significantly worse at checking them. Heavy-Duty Boots is also useful to ignore the occasional Sticky Web. Life Orb is an alternative that gives up longevity in exchange for extra power allowing Celebi to 2HKO Metagross with Earth Power, OHKO Noivern with +2 Psychic, and OHKO Golurk after Stealth Rock with +2 Psychic. Earth Power is the best complement to Psychic hitting Psychic resists such as Incineroar, Registeel, and Metagross. On more offensive teams or balance teams that do not require Celebi's longevity, Recover can be dropped for additional coverage. Pollen Puff lets Celebi break past Dark- and Pychic-type Pokemon that it normally could not, such as Reuniclus, opposing Celebi itself, Umbreon, and Obstagoon. Leaf Storm allows Celebi to immediately threaten Water-types such as Gastrodon and Milotic, Milotic being especially important as it can normally stave non-Life Orb Celebi off with Haze.

Noivern and Crobat can help pivot Celebi in versus the likes of Diancie, Steelix, and Gastrodon, for it to set up on. Celebi struggles to break through Reuniclus, opposing Celebi,(AC) and Umbreon without extra coverage. Cobalion and Pangoro can take advantage of Umbreon.,(remove period, add comma) while Incineroar and Golurk can help handle Reuniclus. To deal with opposing Celebi, Togekiss, Talonflame, and Bronzong can help with that Togekiss, Talonflame, and Bronzong can deal with opposing Celebi. Celebi is easily revenge killed by Flying-types like Crobat, so Flying resists such as Stakataka, Diancie, and Steelix are good teammates, who also appreciate Celebi's ability to check Water-types like Suicune and Milotic(maybe add something about how this is only with leaf storm?). Golisopod, Heracross, and Incineroar are good at luring in the Flying-types Noivern and Togekiss,(AC) removing their Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off leaving them Stealth Rock Vulnerable vulnerable to Stealth Rock, which can help Celebi in breaking them.

Celebi is a great pivot able to give its teammates many opportunities through its defensive profile checking the likes of Raikou. Grass Knot is chosen as a STAB because it has high BP versus heavy Steel-types such as Metagross, Cobalion, and Stakataka. Grass STAB is used over Psychic STAB because threatening Ground-types is important for Celebi's ability to spread Thunder Wave. Grass Knot fails to hurt Diancie much at all, so leaf Leaf Storm can alternatively be run to slam it. Celebi isn't very threatening on its own so it relies on pivoting to its teammates with U-turn. Celebi can often lure in fast Flying-types like Crobat and Talonflame with Thunder Wave which cripples them terribly(should probably change this wording, the move thunder wave isn’t going to lure fast pokemon). Celebi spreads Thunder Wave reliably due to its ability to thwart Ground- and Electric-types with its Grass STAB bar utility Flygon which is not 2HKOd 2HKOed and has recovery.

Celebi is great at luring in Flying- and Steel-types. Raikou, Toxtricity, and Xurkitree can exploit Flying-type switch-ins such as Crobat and Togekiss. Golurk, Chandelure, and Heracross can take advantage of switch-ins to Steel-types like Metagross and Registeel as well as Reuniclus. Celebi's ability to lure in and Thunder Wave Flying-types can be appreciated by wallbreakers such as Pangoro and Flame Orb Heracross, as the Flying-types would become too slow to pivot in reliably and force them out. Despite being a Fighting-type resist,(AC) Celebi is not good at checking the Fighting-types of the tier because of its weakness to U-turn and Knock Off, secondary fighting Fighting-type resists such as Crobat, Talonflame, and Noivern can alleviate this issue. Bulky Water-type teammates such as Milotic and Gastrodon can cover for Celebi's weakness to fire Fire weakness and vulnerability to some of the tiers Steel-types. Celebi's weakness to Flying can be covered by teammates such as Stakataka, Diancie, and Metagross all of which also appreciate Celebi checking Water-types.

Nasty Plot Celebi can elect for Pollen Puff over Earth Power, by keeping Recover it becomes a good long-term check to Calm Mind Reuniclus, however giving up Earth Power does leave Celebi walled by Steel-types and Incineroar. Shadow Ball on the Nasty Plot set hits Bronzong, Sigilyph, and Xatu, though outside of these targets its it’s generally worse than Pollen Puff. Stealth Rock can be run on the pivot set, however Celebi is a rather poor user of the move, losing to the common Defog Crobat, and giving up U-turn or Thunder Wave makes Celebi significantly more passive. Utility Celebi can opt for Leaf Blade while changing its EV spread and nature appropriately allowing it to reliably check Calm Mind Suicune and non-Shadow Ball Calm Mind Raikou, but this gives up damage on many of the heavy Steel-type switch-ins.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types** Crobat, Talonflame, and Togekiss all threaten Celebi for massive damage, however Crobat and Talonflame are crippled terribly by Thunder Wave, and Nasty Plot can muscle past all of the Flying-types. They also struggle to switch directly into a Life Orb-boosted Psychic.

**Steel-types** Metagross, Registeel, and Klefki all can handle the utility set very well not even minding Thunder Wave much. Bronzong walls Nasty Plot Celebi unless it is running Shadow Ball, which is hard to justify.

**Psychic- and Dark-types** Umbreon, opposing Celebi itself, and Reuniclus can all wall Nasty Plot Celebi unless its packing extra coverage. Incineroar isn't 2HKOed by even Life Orb Earth Power making it a good check. Grimmsnarl is only very afraid of Leaf Storm and can take on Celebi pretty comfortably otherwise able to set up with Bulk Up or more immediately threaten Celebi's team with Choice Band.

**Fire-types** Salazzle, Chandelure, and Choice Scarf Darmanitan can all scare out Celebi, however none of them can switch into Celebi safely fearing Earth Power and Thunder Wave.

**Revenge Killers** Celebi's many weaknesses make it easy to revenge kill, Golisopod, Choice Scarf Heracross, Crobat, and Sharpedo can all revenge kill Celebi. U-turn from Many many revenge killers such as Crobat, Flygon, and Talonflame can force Celebi out and gain momentum.

good job!

I implemented many points from your check, thank you Xaviere.

A few notes for the QC team I changed the Suicune mention too Gastrodon as Celebi isn't a very good check to it without Leaf Storm. Celebi can still pretty effectively check the Water-types Milotic and Gastrodon without Leaf Storm.

Note that while Celebi can switch into Milotic it cannot effectively force out Haze variants if its lacking both Life Orb and Leaf Storm.
I added this

Celebi can opt for Leaf Blade while changing its EV spread and nature appropriately allowing it to reliably check Calm Mind Suicune and non-Shadow Ball Calm Mind Raikou, but this gives up damage on many of the heavy Steel-type switch-ins.
And I changed this

Utility Celebi can opt for Leaf Blade while changing its EV spread and nature appropriately allowing it to be a stronger check to Calm Mind. Suicune, but this gives up damage on many of the heavy Steel-type switch-ins.
To this. CM Raikou should be running Shadow Ball most of the time on that set and its not particularly worth covering for given its prominence, and Suicune can beat you if you're chipped I think?

E: added the obvious downside back oops

[OVERVIEW]

Nasty Plot Celebi is a good wallbreaker leveraged by its highly useful ability to that can also check Water- and Electric-types like Milotic, Seismitoad, and Xurkitree. Celebi suffers from four-moveslot syndrome, having to pick its poison of being walled by certain Pokemon, or give up its recovery. Heavy-Duty Boots allow Celebi to best make use of its defensive utility to check offensive Pokemon such as Xurkitree and Raikou, and its not as often forced to lose momentum with Recover.(This sentence doesn't really sound like an overview sentence, more like a sentence on HDB in set comments) However, Celebi has to choose between its coverage options or recovery, which lets certain Pokemon wall it. Celebi's typing also gives it many exploitable weaknesses, leaving it easy to revenge kill and making it sometimes struggle to find switch-in opportunities. Especially notable is Celebi's U-turn weakness;(comma to semicolon) which means despite being a check to Raikou and Xurkitree, it Celebi can simply get hit by Volt Switch and then immediately get forced out by U-turn from Pokemon such as Crobat or and Flygon. Celebi should also be weary of Shadow Ball when trying to check Raikou.

[SET COMMENTS]
Heavy-Duty Boots is the preferred item, letting Celebi better check pivot Raikou and Xurkitree, as taking entry hazard damage on top of Volt Switch makes it significantly worse at checking them. Leftovers compromise Celebi's ability to check Raikou and Xurkitree, but, grants Celebi longevity, appreciated especially on non-Recover sets. Life Orb gives up longevity in exchange for extra power allowing Celebi to 2HKO Metagross with Earth Power, OHKO Togekiss with +2 Psychic.(moving these sentences to end of paragraph) Psychic is critical for threatening Flying-types like Togekiss and Crobat. Aura Sphere is a great complement to Psychic hitting the likes of Guzzlord, Umbreon, and Steel-types, though,(RC) while Earth Power is better against Metagross. Leaf Storm allows Celebi to more immediately threaten Reuniclus,(RC) and Water-types such as Starmie and Milotic, which can otherwise safely pivot to a teammate through Teleport or Flip Turn, and in Milotic's case straight up beat Celebi if it's packing Haze. Leaf Storm immediately threatens Reuniclus and Water-types such as Starmie and Milotic; threatening these Water-types is important, as they can otherwise safely pivot into a teammate and Haze Milotic can even beat Celebi. On more offensive teams or balance teams that do not require Celebi's longevity, Recover can be dropped for Leaf Storm. Heavy-Duty Boots makes Celebi a better check to pivot Raikou and Xurkitree, Leftovers is better on non-Recover sets, and Life Orb lets Celebi 2HKO Metagross with Earth Power and OHKO Togekiss with +2 Psychic.

Noivern and Crobat can help pivot Celebi in versus the likes of against Diancie, Steelix, and Gastrodon,(RC) for it to set up on. Celebi struggles to break through Reuniclus, opposing Celebi, and Umbreon Umbreon, Reuniclus, and opposing Celebi.(To align with sentences) Bewear and Pangoro can take advantage of Umbreon, while Escavalier and Haze Milotic can help handle Reuniclus. Togekiss, Umbreon, and Bronzong can check opposing Celebi. Celebi is easily forced out by Flying-types like Crobat and Choice Scarf Togekiss, so Flying resists Flying-resistant Pokemon such as Registeel, Diancie, and Steelix are good teammates;(comma to semicolon) who also in return,(AC) they appreciate Celebi's ability to check Water-types. Golisopod, Heracross, Escavalier, and Incineroar are good at luring in checks to Celebi such as Crobat and Togekiss with Knock Off, removing their Heavy-Duty Boots and leaving them vulnerable to Stealth Rock.

Pollen Puff lets Celebi break past Dark- and Pychic-types Pokemon that it normally could not,(RC) such as Reuniclus and opposing Celebi;(comma to semicolon) however, Pollen Puff is generally worse that than Celebi's other options given the higher relative importance of Steel- and Water-types. Celebi can run an effective utility set of Grass Knot, Thunder Wave, Recover, and U-turn. Thunder Wave dissuades faster switch-(AH)ins like Crobat, while U-turn can take advantage of slower bulky switch-(AH)ins for the benefit of powerful wallbreakers such as Pangoro.

Bronzong checks Celebi through Toxic and Heavy Slam,(RC) though,(RC) but takes notable damage from boosted Aura Sphere. Escavalier completely walls Celebi and can use it for easy wallbreaking opportunities.

**Psychic- and Dark-types**:(add colon) Healthy Umbreon forces out even boosted Celebi, though, Umbreon can be 2HKOed by +2 Aura Sphere with Stealth Rock. Reuniclus walls Celebi lacking Leaf Storm, while Assault Vest Reuniclus checks even Leaf Storm variants of Celebi. Guzzlord and Specially Defensive can take a few Aura Spheres and force out Celebi, though, they can get quickly warn down especially by Life Orb Celebi.
