[OVERVIEW]

Flying
========

Celesteela is perfect on Flying teams as a physically defensive wall due to Gliscor being the best option as a special wall on Flying teams and Skarmory's lack of viability. Celesteela's incredible mixed bulk even without Special Defense investment lets it reliably check Pokemon like Choice Scarf Nihilego and gives it an edge over Skarmory. An impeccable Steel / Flying typing lets it take half the Stealth Rock damage that normal Flying-types do and leaves it weak to only two somewhat uncommon types that are easily checked by its teammates. Celelsteela's typing also provides a plethora of resistances, notably to Fairy, Dragon, and Psychic attacks from Pokemon like Mega Diancie, Latios, and Mew. It also gives Celesteela an immunity to Toxic, giving it an excellent matchup against opposing walls such as Chansey. Other traits like a good Attack stat in conjunction with a generally powerful STAB attack means that types like Fairy and Rock will struggle to find a reliable switch-in. Celesteela's great offensive prowess in conjunction with access to Autotomize also gives it the option to run an offensive sweeper set that has the potential to break through common cores found on types like Steel and Water, especially when holding a Metronome. Celesteela's offensive Autotomize set capitalizes on its ability, Beast Boost, which makes it extremely difficult to wall after it gets a KO or two, especially against more offensive teams, and enables Celesteela to quickly snowball out of control against types such as Fairy. Defensive sets can make use of Beast Boost as well: Celesteela becomes extremely difficult for types like Rock to break through after boosting its Defense once or twice. Unfortunately, Celesteela has a crippling weakness to stallbreakers such as Taunt + Will-O-Wisp Mew as well as Taunt + Knock Off Gliscor. Celesteela's recovery in Leech Seed and Protect with Leftovers simply isn't reliable and leaves it vulnerable to Grass-types and forced to spam Leech Seed. Extremely powerful wallbreakers like Landorus and Mega Gallade are difficult for Celesteela to deal with. Landorus can use Gravity to exploit its typing, and Mega Gallade nearly OHKOes it after a single Swords Dance and is frequently run with Healing Wish support, thus receiving more opportunities to break past it.

move 4: Toxic / Flamethrower
item: Leftovers
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Leech Seed gives Celesteela a form of recovery and helps break down checks like Tapu Koko on the switch. Protect is great for wearing down the opponent with Toxic and gaining more health with Leech Seed and Leftovers. Protect also lets Celesteela scout for opposing Choice-locked Pokemon. Heavy Slam, supported by a decent uninvested Attack and Celesteela's weight, is its strongest and most consistent STAB move that's great for removing Pokemon like Alolan Ninetales and Mega Diancie. Toxic lets Celesteela threaten defensive Pokemon like Zapdos and Porygon2 that would otherwise beat it. Flamethrower lets Celesteela threaten opposing Steel-types like Mega Scizor.

Set Details
========

Leftovers gives Celesteela another way to help mitigate its lack of a solid recovery move. Beast Boost lets Celesteela gain a boost to its Defense every time it KOes an opposing Pokemon. 252 HP EVs, 252 Defense EVs, and an Impish nature maximize Celesteela's potential to take on physical attacks.

Usage Tips
========

Keeping Celesteela healthy attributes to its success as a wall, so do everything you can to accomplish this. Use Leech Seed liberally and avoid status and Knock Off to prevent it from being worn down. Use Toxic to cripple walls like Mantine that Celesteela struggles with. Understand that KOing a foe with Leech Seed or Toxic will not activate Beast Boost, so if Celesteela needs the Defense boost to finish out a game, attack the opposing Pokemon with Heavy Slam instead of stalling it out with Protect and Leech Seed. Hitting predicted switch-ins with Toxic or Leech Seed can be important to wear them down for teammates like Mega Aerodactyl. If running Flamethrower, reveal it in key matchups such as against opposing Steel-types, where it's very important to take out threats like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor.

Team Options
========

Zapdos can take on Electric-types for Celelesteela and, if Celesteela lacks Flamethrower, remove Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor for it. Mantine is a fantastic switch-in for Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y that Celelsteela struggles against. Mega Aerodactyl is a great way of keeping faster foes in check that can also check wallbreakers such as Kyurem-B and Tapu Koko as well as remove a massive nuisance in Choice item Victini with Pursuit. Gliscor is fantastic at blocking burn and paralysis for Celesteela; it can switch into Pokemon like Will-O-Wisp Mew and absorb weak Scalds from Pokemon like Toxapex and defensive Swampert. It also checks Electric-types like Tapu Koko for Celesteela and provides Defog support. Tornadus-T's access to Knock Off and Taunt allows it to break down opposing walls like Toxapex that Celesteela struggles with. It can also outpace and remove wallbreakers like Kyurem-B. Choice Scarf Landorus-T can remove troublesome Electric-types like Tapu Koko and wallbreakers like Choice Band Victini.

move 4: Flamethrower

ability: Beast Boost
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Automotize lets Celesteela boost its middling Speed tier to much higher levels, letting it outpace Pokemon like Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Air Slash is Celesteela's main STAB move and has a 30% chance of causing the foe to flinch, which gives it a chance to break past walls such as Toxapex. Flash Cannon is Celesteela's secondary STAB move that does well against more prevalent types such as Fairy. Celesteela's inability to hit Steel-types is mitigated by running Flamethrower in the last moveslot, but Celesteela will still struggle against Heatran because of Flash Fire. Giga Drain can be used to specifically help against types like Ground.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment lets Celesteela be as strong and fast as possible. A Timid nature lets Celesteela outpace non-Choice Scarf Magnezone before boosting and Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Adamant Mega Swampert under rain after boosting. Celesteela can quickly spiral out of control against defensive and offensive teams alike with Beast Boost, which gives it a Special Attack boost every time it gets a KO. Metronome allows Celesteela to threaten defensive cores such as Mega Swampert + Toxapex + Mantine prior to gaining Special Attack boosts.

Usage Tips
========

Capitalize on Celesteela's great bulk and typing by setting up on Choice-locked Pokemon like Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu and Choice Band Scizor. Prioritize setting up late-game when walls are weakened so Celesteela can more easily active Beast Boost to get a sweep going. Similarly, preserve Celesteela's health so it won't have to worry about being KOed when it finds an opportunity to set up. Break through defensive cores by spamming a STAB attack, fully taking advantage of Metronome. Avoid paralysis from Pokemon like Klefki, as the Speed drop will cut into Celesteela's sweeping potential.

Team Options
========

Lead Aerodactyl is a fantastic lead for hyper offense teams and can nearly always guarantee Stealth Rock for Celesteela thanks to Taunt. Wallbreakers such as Mega Charizard Y, Thundurus-T, and Choice Band Dragonite are great for breaking down defensive cores for a Celesteela sweep. Dragonite can also pick off weakened foes with priority Extreme Speed. Choice Scarf Landorus-T is a great way to remove Electric-types like Tapu Koko, can potentially provide Stealth Rock, and can bring Celesteela in easily with U-turn. Swords Dance Hawlucha can be used to break down defensive cores for Celesteela.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Flying
--------
Earthquake on the physically defensive set is great for removing Heatran, as Flying teams struggle to switch into it reliably due to it commonly running Magma Storm, Toxic, and Taunt. However, that's one of the few specific cases that Earthquake is actually useful, and it is otherwise a waste of a moveslot. Flyinium Z on Autotomize Celesteela can be used to nuke threats, but this set will struggle more against defensive cores.

Checks and Counters
===================

Flying
--------

**Stallbreakers**: Mew and Gliscor break Celesteela down over time with Taunt and Will-O-Wisp or Knock Off, respectively. Heatran's super effective trapping move along with Taunt is difficult for Celesteela to deal with.

**Wallbreakers**: Celesteela struggles with extremely powerful wallbreakers such as Life Orb Kyurem-B and Choice Specs Hydreigon.

**Fire-types**: Strong Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y are only threatened by Celesteela's Toxic and can easily OHKO it.

**Electric-types**: Tapu Koko and other Electric-types like Substitute + Toxic Zapdos are extremely threatening to Celesteela, with the former outright OHKOing it and the latter able to set up Substitute on it and beat it one-on-one with its super effective STAB move.

**Toxic-immune Walls**: Walls such as Mega Venusaur, Toxapex, Mega Sableye, and Heatran wall Celesteela or can use it to set up entry hazards.

* Incredible mixed bulk even without special defense investment lets it reliably check Pokemon like Choice Scarf Nihilego and gives it the edge over Skarmory. Celesteela's bulk is supported by fairly reliable recovery in Leech Seed + Protect and Leftovers as well.
* Impeccable Celesteela's Steel / Flying typing lets it take half the Stealth Rock damage that normal Flying-types do and leaves it weak to only two somewhat uncommon types that are easily checked by its teammates. Celelsteela's Steel / Flying typing provides a plethora of resistances and a neutrality to Ice and Rock, notably allowing it to switch into Fairy, Dragon, and Psychic attacks from Pokemon like Mega Diancie, Latios, and Mew while also allowing it to switch into Stealth Rock easier. It also gives Celesteela an immunity to Toxic Poison, giving it an excellent matchup against opposing walls such as Mantine mantine doesnt carry toxic too often use another wall like Chansey that carry Toxic. prone to its own Toxic.

Celesteela can also finally capitalize on its ability Beast Boost that makes it extremely difficult to wall after it gets a KO or two. However, keep in mind that Celesteela's fantastic bulk gives an amazing matchup against more offensive teams and can quickly snowball out of control against types such as Fairy.
* Expand on beast boost and talk more about how it benefits both sets here Defensive sets can make use of Beast Boost as well: Celesteela becomes extremely difficult for types like Rock to break through after boosting its Defense once or twice.

Moves
========

Leech Seed gives Celesteela a form of recovery and help break down checks like Tapu Koko on switch in. Protect is great for wearing down the opponent with Toxic and gaining more health with Leech Seed and Leftovers. Protect also lets it scout for opposing Choice-locked Pokemon.

Heavy Slam, supported by a decent uninvested attack and Celesteela's 999.9 kg weight, is its most strong and consistent STAB.
- would give ice/rock type examples of what this beats for flying

Toxic lets Celesteela threaten defensive Pokemon like Zapdos and Porygon2 that would otherwise beat it. Flamethrower lets Celesteela threaten opposing Steel-types like Mega Scizor.

Set Details
========

Leftovers gives Celesteela another way to help mitigate its lack of a solid recovery move. Beast Boost lets Celesteela gain a boost to its physical defense every time it KOs an opposing Pokemon.

252 HP with 252 Def EVs and an Impish nature maximizes Celesteela's potential to take on physical attacks.
- would again give examples of what it can wall for flying

Usage Tips
========

Keeping Celesteela healthy attributes to its success as a wall, so do everything you can to accomplish this. Use Leech Seed liberally and avoid status and Knock Off to prevent it from being worn down.

Use Toxic to cripple walls like Zapdos that Celesteela struggles with.
- zapdos is an iffy pokemon to stay in on and toxic, maybe say on the switch in or change examples

Understand that KOing something with Leech Seed or Toxic will not activate Beast Boost. So, if you're needing the Defense boost to finish out a game, attack the opposing Pokemon with Heavy Slam instead of stalling it out with Protect and Leech Seed. Hitting predicted switch-ins with Toxic or Leech Seed can be important to wear them down for teammates like Mega Aerodactyl. Use protect to lessen zmove damage, increase toxic damage, and heal more from leech seed, and scout with it.

Zapdos can take on Electric-types for Celelesteela and, if Celesteela lacks Flamethrower, remove Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor for it. Mantine is a fantastic switch in for Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y that Celelsteela struggles against. Mega Aerodactyl is a great form of Speed control that can also check wallbreakers such as Kyurem-B and Tapu Koko as well as remove a massive nuisance in Choiced Victini with Pursuit. Gliscor is fantastic at blocking burn and paralysis for Celesteela, switching into Pokemon like Will-O-Wisp Mew and can absorb weak Scalds from Pokemon like Toxapex and defensive Swampert. It also checks Electric-types like Tapu Koko for Celesteela and provides Defog support.

Tornadus-T's access to Knock Off and Taunt allows it to break down opposing walls like Toxapex and Chansey that Celesteela struggles with. It can also outpace and remove wallbreakers like Kyurem-B. Choice Scarf Landorus-T can remove troublesome Electric-types like Tapu Koko and wallbreakers like Choice Band Victini.

Automotize lets Celesteela boost its middling speed tier to much higher levels, letting it outpace Pokemon like Choice Scarf Landorus-T and +1 Adamant Mega Sharpedo. Air Slash is Celesteela's main STAB that has a 30% chance of flinching. Flash Cannon is Celesteela's secondary STAB that does well against more prevalent types such as Fairy. Celesteela's inability to hit Steel-types is mitigated by running Flamethrower in the last moveslot, but you'll still struggle against Heatran because of Flash Fire.
* giga drain

252 SpA and 252 Spe EV investment lets Celesteela be as strong and fast as possible. A Timid nature lets Celesteela outpace non-Choice Scarf Magnezone before boosting and Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Adamant Mega Swampert under rain after boosting. Metronome allows Celesteela to threaten defensive cores such as Mega Swampert + Toxapex + Mantine prior to gaining Beast Boosts. Celesteela can quickly spiral out of control against defensive and offensive teams alike with Beast Boost, which gives it a special attack boost every time it gets a KO.

Usage Tips
========

Capitalize on Celesteela's great bulk and typing by setting up on Choice-locked Pokemon like Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu and Choice Band Scizor.

Prioritize setting up late-game when walls are weakened, so that Celesteela can more easily active Beast Boost to get a sweep going.
- talk about keeping it healthy through the game so it can easily setup late-game

Similarly, preserve Celesteela's health so that when it finds an opportune moment to set up, it won't have to worry about being KOed. Break through defensive cores by spamming a STAB attack, fully taking advantage of Metronome.
* avoid thunder wave

Team Options
========

Lead Aerodactyl is a fantastic lead for hyper offense teams and can nearly always guarantee Stealth Rock for Celesteela thanks to Taunt.

Wallbreakers such as Charizard Mega Y, Thundurus-T, and Choice Band Dragonite are great for breaking down defensive cores for a Celesteela sweep.
- give examples of what these beat/weaken for it

Dragonite can also pick off weakened foes with priority Extreme Speed. Choice Scarf Landorus-T is a great way to remove Electric-types like Tapu Koko, can potentially provide Stealth Rock, and can bring Celesteela in easily with U-turn.

Earthquake on the physically defensive set is great for removing Heatran, as Flying teams struggle to switch into it reliably due to it commonly running Magma Storm, Toxic, and Taunt. However, that's one of the few specific cases that Earthquake is actually useful, and is otherwise a waste of a moveslot.

A Z-Move on Automotize Celesteela can be used but is only good against offensive teams, as defensive teams frequently carry phazers like Toxapex and Mantine.
- make the z move Supersonic Skystrike. also still needs to be boosted to threaten these Pokemon with the z move

**Fire-types**: Strong Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y are only threatened by Celesteela's Toxic and can easily OHKO it.

**Electric-types**: Tapu Koko and other Electric-types like SubToxic Zapdos are both extremely threatening to Celesteela, the former outright OHKOing it and the latter able to set up a Substitute on it and 1v1 it with its super effective STAB.

Flying
========

Although specially defensive Celesteela was originally the most dominant set on Flying teams, specially defensive Gliscor has risen in usage to take care of attackers like Tapu Koko and Mega Diancie and, the former defensive behemoth, Skarmory, has completely fallen out of favor, giving Celesteela a perfect spot Celesteela is perfect on Flying teams as a physically defensive wall due to the prevalence of Gliscor as a special wall on Flying teams and the rarity of Skarmory. (this was on the lines of talking about generational shifts, which the standards don't allow. An explanation for this is that at the end of the day, physically defensive Celesteela is the best set, and special defensive being the best before and Skarmory once being good doesn't matter to readers. It's unnecessary to explain past metas then. So that's why I deleted it) Celesteela's incredible mixed bulk even without Special Defense investment lets it reliably check Pokemon like Choice Scarf Nihilego and gives it the an edge over Skarmory. An impeccable Steel / Flying typing lets it take half the Stealth Rock damage that normal Flying-types do and leaves it weak to only two somewhat uncommon types that are easily checked by its teammates. Celelsteela's Steel / Flying typing also provides a plethora of resistances, notably to Fairy, Dragon, and Psychic attacks from Pokemon like Mega Diancie, Latios, and Mew. It also gives Celesteela an immunity to Toxic, giving it an excellent matchup against opposing walls such as Chansey. Other traits like a strong Attack stat in conjunction with a generally powerful STAB attack means that types like Fairy and Rock will struggle to find a reliable switch-(AH)in. Celesteela's great offensive prowess in conjunction with access to Automotize Autotomize gives it the option to run an offensive sweeper set that has the potential to break through common cores found on types like Steel (Heatran weakened) (too specific for the Overview, and the general point being made still holds) and Water, especially when holding a Metronome. Celesteela's offensive Automotize Autotomize set capitalizes on its ability, Beast Boost, that which makes it extremely difficult to wall after it gets a KO or two, especially against more offensive teams,(AC) and can enables Celesteela to quickly snowball out of control against types such as Fairy. Defensive sets can make use of Beast Boost as well: Celesteela becomes extremely difficult for types like Rock to break through after boosting its Defense once or twice. Unfortunately, Celesteela has a crippling weakness to stallbreakers such as Taunt and + Will-O-Wisp Mew as well as Taunt and + Knock Off Gliscor. Celesteela's recovery in Leech Seed and Protect with Leftovers simply isn't reliable and leaves it prone to Grass-types and forced to spam Leech Seed. Extremely powerful wallbreakers like Landorus and Mega Gallade are difficult for Celesteela to deal with. Landorus can use Gravity to exploit its typing, and Mega Gallade nearly OHKOes it after a single Swords Dance and is frequently run with Healing Wish support, giving Mega Gallade more opportunities to break past it.

Toxic lets Celesteela threaten defensive Pokemon like Zapdos and Porygon2 that would otherwise beat it. Flamethrower lets Celesteela threaten opposing Steel-types like Mega Scizor.

Leftovers gives Celesteela another way to help mitigate its lack of a solid recovery move. Beast Boost lets Celesteela gain a boost to its physical Defense every time it KOes an opposing Pokemon. 252 HP with EVs,(AC) 252 Defense EVs,(AC) and an Impish nature maximizes maximize Celesteela's potential to take on physical attacks.
