Due to its naturally high special attack, boosted even further by Choice Specs, makes Chandelure a fearsome wallbreaker in the OU metagame. It strikes hard with its good Dual-STAB combination being Ghost and Fire. Shadow Ball offers great neutral coverage across the tier, 2HKOing most of the metagame. Flamethrower is chosen instead of Fire Blast, as it has a higher chance to hit the opposing Pokemon and Flamethrower still has a solid damage output. Trick is the third move, as it is able to switch items with incoming special defensive walls such as Blissey, Chansey and Mandibuzz making them useless for the rest of the game. Overheat is a very powerful nuke which enables Chandelure to dent holes in Pokemon which usually resist its Fire-Type attacks such as Hydreigon. Psychic acts as a great alternative as it is able to help against Kommo-o which could otherwise resist Chandelures Fire-Type attacks while also being immune to Shadow Ball. Energy Ball serves as a coverage to hit Pokemon which Chandelure can't hit otherwise like Tyranitar. Flash Fire is the prefered ability with letting Chandelure switch into opposing Fire-Type attacks and therefore it'll boost its power of its Fire-type attacks. Modest is the nature of choice, letting Chandelure hit as hard as possible with the maximum investment into its special attack.
Chandelure is prone to opposing Ghost- and Dark-Type Pokemon. Therefore, Mandibuzz pairs well as a partner as it can check common Pokemon such as Dragapult, Gengar, Hydreigon and Urshifu-S. Mandibuzz also can switch into Ground-Type attacks aimed at Chandelure. In return Chandelure can break past troublesome Pokemon like Corviknight, Hatterene and Skarmory. Clefable is an excellent Partner as it can support Chandelure well with the combination of Teleport and Wish. Teleport gets Chandelure in safely whereas Wish guarantees that Chandelure stays healthy throughout the battle. Zeraora is another great partner for Chandelure as it can bring Chandelure in safely with Volt Switch. Chandelure helps Zeraora against bulky Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss, while Zeraora pressures Tyranitar and Blissey with Close Combat. Tangrowth makes up for a great Partner as well; it can come in on threats such as Excadrill and Tyranitar for Chandelure. Corviknight also pairs well with Chandelure because it can switch into the previously mentioned Hippodown and Excadrill. Chandelure appreciates a sturdy Rock- and Water-resist making Ferrothorn a good partner. Ferrothorn can help with stacking Spikes and can weaken the opposition with Knock Off and Leech Seed and paves the way for Chandelure to power up its breaking potential. Urshifu-S is another great partner as it can help against Pokemon such as Blissey and the less common Chansey with a strong STAB Close Combat, Chandelure on the other hand can take care of Amoonguss and Galarian Weezing with Urshifu's ability to lure in and pivot out of thanks to U-turn
