Chandelure

[OVERVIEW]

*Chandelure defines it's place in the UnderUsed metagame by being able to hit the majority of the tier for neutral or super effective damage.

*It has a stellar 145 base Special Attack and a decent 80 base Speed.

*It can act as a revenge killer, or setup sweeper.

*However, while it's speed is decent, it is rather lacking in comparison to some of UU's other premier sweepers.

*It is also weak to all forms of hazards, and has a very difficult time switching in.

*Overall, Chandelure is a solid pick due to it's good STAB combination and it's stellar stats and movepool.

[SET]
name: Speedy Lamp
move 1: Fire Blast
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Trick
move 4: Memento / Energy Ball / Flamethrower
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Infiltrator
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

*Fire Blast and Shadow Ball are Chandelure's main STAB attacks, covering a huge portion of the metagame.

*Trick allows Chandelure to cripple walls such as Blissey, Quagsire, and Swampert by locking them into a move and taking their item.

*Memento can be used to trade Chandelure for a setup opportunity, allowing sweepers to come in easier and potentially sweep.

*Energy Ball hits Swampert, Quagsire, Alomomola, and Seismitoad super effectively, which all give Chandelure problems.

*Flamethrower is another STAB option that is less powerful, but doesn't miss in return.

Set Details
========

*A Choice Scarf allows Chandelure to act as a revenge killer, outpacing metagame threats such as Terrakion, Latias, and Krookidile, as long as they are not scarfed themselves.

*Max Special Attack and Max Speed allow Chandelure to be as fast and hit as hard as possible.

*Infiltrator allows Chandelure to ignore Substitutes and Light Screen/Aurora Veil/Reflect, which increases it's effectiveness as a revenge killer.

*Timid is the best option for natures as it provides Chandelure more speed.

Usage Tips
========

*Use Chandelure to revenge kill threats such as Latias, Cobalion, Scizor, and Celebi. Be weary of making sure these pokemon aren't scarfed before attempting to revenge kill, as Chandelure is easily knocked out by a high powered stab, such as Draco Meteor, or at least take a solid amount of damage.

*Try and keep hazards off the field, as Chandelure is weak to all forms of hazards, and it has no recovery, leading it to getting worn down very fast. This limits Chandelure's revenge killing abilities, as it can only come it a few times.

*Try to avoid switching in Chandelure into a strong hit, as this will probably end Chandelure's reign.

*Bring Chandelure in after a pokemon has fainted, a predicted switch, or by U-turn or Volt Switch.

Team Options
========

*Hazard Removal: Chandelure, as previously mentioned, is weak to all form of hazards. They limit how many times Chandelure can come in, so defog or rapid spin support from the likes of Tentacruel, Togekiss, Empoleon, Klefki, etc.

*Fighting Types: Chandelure is very pursuit weak, so having a way to deal with pursuit trappers is very beneficial to Chandelure. They also break Empoleon, which can trouble Chandelure.

*Strong Electrics or Grasses: Chandelure struggles to break bulky waters without Energy Ball. Having a switch-in to waters or being able to pressure them and scare them out is very crucial. Electrics such as Mega Manecetric and Zeraora get special mention for providing Volt Switch support.

*U-turn or Volt Switch Support: U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Mega Manecetric, Scizor, and Gilgar provide a free entry for Chandelure.

[SET]
name: Boosting Lamp
move 1: Flamethrower
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Substitute
move 4: Calm Mind
item: Leftovers / Ghostium Z
ability: Infiltrator
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

*Flamethrower and Shadow Ball are consistent STAB attacks.

*Substitute allows for Chandelure to avoid status and damage while setting up at the cost of 1/4 of it's HP.

*Calm Mind allows Chandelure to boost it's special attack and special defense by 1 stage, allowing Chandelure to sweep.

Set Details
========

*Leftovers allow Chandelure to regain health, allowing for multiple substitutes to be made.

*Ghostium Z is another option that provides a 1-time nuke that can break through tougher walls such as Swampert, Empoleon, and Mega Altaria.

*Infiltrator is the prefered ability due to it ignoring Substitute, Reflect, Light Screen, and Aurora Veil.

*Max Speed and Max Special Attack allow Chandelure to be as fast and hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========

*Be very conservative in sending out Chandelure before it's good to sweep. Taking any damage or potentially getting statused could cripple it before it has an opening to sweep.

*Be sure to weaken Chandelure's checks before attempting a sweep, as this will increase it's potency.

*Try and get Chandelure in via U-turn or Volt Switch, though on a predicted switch or after a pokemon faints works as well.

Team Options
========

*Wallbreakers: Wallbreakers such as Terrakion, Hydreigon, and Scizor benefit Chandelure, as they can remove Chandelure's checks and mons that can prevent Chandelure from sweeping.

*Hazard removal: Hazards mess up Chandelure, especially Toxic Spikes, as they cut Chandelure's potential sweep short. Defog and Rapid Spin support from the likes of Starmie, Moltres, Tentacruel, Togekiss, Hydreigon, etc. is greatly appreciated because of this.

*Healing Wish Support: Healing Wish support from Latias and Alomomola is beneficial, as it gives Chandelure a second chance at sweeping.

*U-turn/Voltswitch support: U-turn and Volt Switch support from the likes of Mega Manecetric, Zeraora, Cobalion, Scizor, Infernape, etc. allow Chandelure to get in for free and allow it potentially get a chance to start setting up.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

*Choice Specs may seem like a good option, but other pokemon such as Latias, Gengar, Hydreigon, and Primarina do this much better.

*A Will-O-Wisp in addition to Hex may seem plausable, but Gengar can pull it off more effectivley. That being said, Chandelure is too slow to do this anyways.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Kommo-o**: If running Bulletproof as the ability, Kommo-o can wall Chandelure if it has already used it's z move, or if it is choiced locked into an unfavorable move.

**Strong Priority**: Aquajet from the likes of Crawdaunt or Sucker Punch from Bisharp can KO Chandelure before it can do anything back. They can't do anything if Chandelure is behind a substitute, though.

**Faster mons with super effective moves (don't know what to name this)**: Faster Scarf users such as Terrakion, Hydreigon, and Krookodile can all outspeed even Scarfed Chandelure and threaten to KO it.

**Bulky Waters**: Fat waters such as Suicune and Empoleon all give Chandelure a hard time. Everything bar Empoleon must be careful of a stray Energy Ball though, as that will do severe damage to bulky waters, especially Quagsire and Swampert.

hi amqc, take this with a grain of salt and i made it pretty short too

[OVERVIEW]

*It has a stellar 145 base Special Attack and a decent under average 80 base Speed.

*It can act as a revenge killer (with choice scarf) , or setup sweeper (with subsitute and calm mind) .

*However, while it's speed is decent, it is rather lacking in comparison to some of UU's other premier sweepers.

*It is also weak to all forms of hazards, and has a very difficult time switching in. (also say something about how it gets worn down easily)

*Overall, Chandelure is a solid pick due to it's good STAB combination and it's stellar stats(This is exaggerates how good Chandelure really is i'd reword it0 and movepool.

Hi there. I'm sorry to have to do this, but I'm going to have to QC Reject this analysis and ask that it's moved to archives. Right now it runs into a lot of issues that are hard to fix without QC putting in overly strenuous amounts of effort. There is a lack of substance in the overview as well as the Usage Tips and Team Options sections of both sets, while the formatting is off in some places and the phrasing isn't up to par with GP standards. The meta knowledge presented (Celebi, Cobalion, and Scizor don't usually run Choice Scarf sets) could also be better.

I don't want you to think that this analysis is getting moved because you're a bad writer, because that isn't the case. You seem to have great motivation to contribute to UU C&C as well, and I'd hate to prevent you from being able to do that moving forward. I'd like to offer that you and I work one-on-one to patch up some of your main areas of improvement as a writer that could allow you to better format and phrase an analysis and write analyses that are up to standard, since that seems to be the main issue here. You have plenty potential and drive to do it, so I hope you're willing to work together since I think with a little work to get there you'd be a helpful contributor to our analysis subforum. If you'd like to do this shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to set up a few times we can work together :] contacting me on PS! or Discord if I'm around also works. I can also further talk to you individually about some of the problems with this analysis if you'd like. Keep up the motivation and please don't let this discourage you!
