RU Chandelure

:ss/chandelure:

[OVERVIEW]

With tremendous Special Attack, a decent Speed tier, and excellent offensive typing, Chandelure solidifies itself as a dangerous wallbreaker in the RU metagame. Using Steel-types like Registeel as a wallbreaking opportunity, it finds ample chances to come in and wreak havoc. It also checks dangerous setup sweepers like Lucario and Cosmic Power Metagross. Heavy-Duty Boots Chandelure doesn't need too much entry hazard support thanks to its item, and it can weaken its checks like Incineroar and Milotic with Toxic while simultaneously strengthening Hex. Choice Specs Chandelure is a very powerful wallbreaker that nukes most of the metagame, notably 2HKOing even specially defensive Umbreon with Fire Blast after minimal damage. Choice Scarf Chandelure is a good revenge killer and strong late-game cleaner that retains usefulness against bulkier teams with Trick. However, Choice item Chandelure bears a harsh Stealth Rock weakness. In general, Chandelure struggles against Dark-types and special walls like Incineroar, Umbreon, and Snorlax, but these can be debilitated by Trick from Choice item Chandelure or, in the case of the Dark-types, overpowered by Choice Specs sets. Without Choice Scarf, it's also easily revenge killed by Pokemon like Flygon, Noivern, and Sharpedo thanks to its subpar Speed tier and mediocre defenses. Sharpedo can still outspeed Choice Scarf Chandelure thanks to Speed Boost, and Flygon commonly runs Choice Scarf itself.

[SET COMMENTS]

Shadow Ball is preferred for its immediate and consistent power, but Hex can be effective to break down Fire-resistant Pokemon more quickly like Milotic, Noivern, and Gastrodon, especially with teammates that can spread status like Toxic Gastrodon, Nidoqueen, and Metagross. Energy Ball OHKOes Gastrodon, as well as Rhyperior with minimal chip damage; however, they both get worn down by Toxic and quickly put in range of Hex anyway. Protect lets Chandelure scout Choice-locked switch-ins such as Flygon and stall statused foes. Flame Body can punish U-turn from the likes of Flygon and Crobat and various other contact moves in a pinch. Alternatively, Flash Fire can be used on teams weak to Fire-type attacks.

Chandelure is extremely effective at forcing chip damage onto bulky Water-types like Milotic, which teammates like Flygon, Sharpedo, and Metagross appreciate. Celebi, Roserade, and Assault Vest Reuniclus can take on Water-types if they force Chandelure out, and Togekiss and Heracross can switch into Dark-types that revenge kill it. Bewear and Heracross also work well with Chandelure, taking care of Dark-types. Chandelure appreciates U-turn support from the likes of Crobat and Celebi to bring it into battle safely against Steel-types. Its middling Speed means faster special attackers such as Raikou and Starmie can force it out; offensive checks to them such as Choice Scarf Heracross and Rotom-C can therefore be useful.

move 4: Trick / Overheat / Flamethrower

[SET COMMENTS]

Fire Blast 2HKOes Umbreon after minimal chip damage and OHKOes an incoming Sharpedo. Energy Ball hits Water- and Ground-types like Suicune and Rhyperior. Trick debilitates walls like Umbreon, Overheat smashes common switch-ins like Incineroar and Guzzlord, and Flamethrower gives it a more accurate Fire-type move if it doesn't wish to risk Fire Blast missing. Flame Body punishes physical attackers like Crobat, Metagross, and Heracross, but Flash Fire can be used to nullify Fire-type attacks.

Because of Chandelure's subpar Speed tier and mediocre defenses, pivots like Heliolisk, Flygon, and Crobat are near-mandatory partners for its success. Fighting-type wallbreakers like Bewear and Pangoro work well with Chandelure, taking advantage of Dark-types like Guzzlord and Incineroar. Dropping Heavy-Duty Boots also mandates entry hazard control from partners such as Starmie and Crobat. Galarian Weezing provides a Knock Off absorber and checks Pangoro and specially defensive Incineroar. In return, Chandelure clears Psychic- and Steel-types like Reuniclus, Registeel, and Bronzong. Dark-types like Incineroar tend to wall Chandelure, so a check to them such as Gastrodon or Diancie is also appreciated. Hazards like Spikes from Roserade, Heracross, and Golisopod help with beating Dark-types as well. Due to Chandelure's ability to lure in and weaken Fire- and Water-types like Incineroar and Milotic, partners like Celebi and Flygon enjoy its presence. In return, Celebi takes advantage of Water-types, while Flygon pivots Chandelure in via U-turn. Water-types like Sharpedo and Starmie force out Chandelure with ease, so checks to them like Umbreon, Milotic, and Golisopod work well with it.

[SET]

move 1: Fire Blast / Flamethrower

[SET COMMENTS]

Fire Blast picks up more KOs on Pokemon at higher health, but Flamethrower can be run as a more accurate Fire-type STAB move. Energy Ball hits Water- and Ground-types like Suicune and Gastrodon. Trick debilitates walls like Umbreon. Infiltrator helps Chandelure against Pokemon that use Substitute, like Suicune, Raikou, and Entei, unlike other Chandelure sets, because it outspeeds them.

Choice Scarf Chandelure demands entry hazard control. Starmie and Crobat provide it and also appreciate Chandelure clearing Psychic-types like Reuniclus and Metagross. Since Chandelure fails against Dark-types, Fighting-type wallbreakers like Heracross and Pangoro work well with it. Galarian Weezing checks Pangoro and specially defensive Incineroar, and it can accrue Rocky Helmet damage onto Incineroar, helping Chandelure break through it later. Chandelure also appreciates hazards punishing its common switch-ins like Umbreon and Guzzlord, so Pokemon like Spikes Golisopod, Heracross, and Roserade help it. In return, it revenge kills threats to them like Celebi and opposing non-Choice Scarf Chandelure. Xurkitree and Celebi check Water-types, and Xurkitree can pivot Chandelure in via Volt Switch. In return, Chandelure threatens Grass-types like Roserade.

Substitute + Calm Mind Chandelure is a dangerous sweeper that's excellent at tearing through slower teams, but its middling Speed leaves this set worse off against offense teams. Taunt stops walls like Umbreon and Milotic from healing up and stops Toxic from them and Registeel. Flame Charge can turn Chandelure into a late-game sweeper, but it still gets easily revenge killed by Flygon, Raikou, and Noivern after minimal chip damage. An EV spread of 48 Def / 208 SpA / 252 Spe with a Timid nature can be run on any set to avoid the OHKO from Choice Scarf Heracross's Stone Edge; however, Stone Edge Heracross is uncommon, so the extra wallbreaking power from the listed spread is better overall.

Checks and Counters
====

**Dark-types**: Guzzlord and Incineroar switch into and offensively pressure Chandelure. However, Toxic easily wears them down, Trick debilitates them, and they struggle to take repeated Choice Specs-boosted attacks. Sharpedo easily revenge kills Chandelure.

**Special Walls**: Snorlax and Umbreon eat up and recover from any attack Chandelure sends their way. However, they must be wary of Trick, and Umbreon is 2HKOed by Choice Specs-boosted Fire Blast after Stealth Rock.

**Revenge Killers**: Raikou, Flygon, and Starmie force Chandelure out due to their superior Speed. Choice Scarf Chandelure can take care of these foes once they're at low HP, but it still gets revenge killed by faster Choice Scarf users like Xurkitree and Flygon.

**Entry Hazards**: If lacking Heavy-Duty Boots, Chandelure is easily worn down by entry hazards, so it must be used more carefully.

**Water-types**: Water-types like Milotic and Suicune can come in and eat up Chandelure's STAB moves consistently while forcing it out with their own. However, Trick, Energy Ball, and Toxic combined with Hex can get past them, and Chandelure can take one Scald in a pinch.

  • With a tremendous Special Attack stat, decent Speed tier, and excellent offensive typing, Chandelure solidifies itself as a dangerous wallbreaker in the RU metagame.
  • (Mention defensive utility, it owns Cosmic Power Metagross, uses Registeel as wallbreaking opportunity and checks Lucario)
  • Its STAB hits almost the whole tier for exceptional damage,(you already said smth similar) and it can help its own cause with utility moves like Toxic to further damage and strengthen Hex against threats like Togekiss and Milotic.(I think an important thing to do is clearly separate the sets in the overview, Heavy-Duty Boots requires the least support due to its lack of a hazard weakness.)
  • It also utilizes a Choice Specs set to heavily dent bulkier foes to pave the way for one of its partners while Choice Scarf can also be used as speed control to finish of weakened targets and act as an endgame cleaner.Choice Specs Chandelure is a very powerful wallbreaker which nukes most of the metagame and notably 2HKOes even specially defensive Umbreon with Fire Blast after Stealth Rock. Choice Scarf Chandelure is a good revenge killer and strong late-game cleaner, which retains usefulness against bulkier teams with Trick. (I decided to rewrite this area myself to more clearly articulate the sets.)
  • Furthermore, despite a shallow movepool, Chandelure has access to Energy Ball, which lets it hit Pokemon like Gastrodon, Milotic, and Suicune.(Having a shallow move pool isn't rlly a problem when your stabs hit so much and you've good moves like trick, and it having a shallow move pool is arguable in the first place.)
  • Unfortunately, it struggles against Dark-types and special walls like Incineroar, Umbreon, and Snorlax and Umbreon, but these can be crippled with a Trick from Choice Specs and Scarf sets; Choiced Chandelure, or in the case of the Dark-types overpowered by Choice Specs. However, Choiced Chandelure bares a crippling Stealth Rock weakness. it also blunders against common Dark-types like Sharpedo and Incineroar which threaten it out with their STAB. (I expanded upon this further and made it more succinct. Mention how Chandelure is also easily revenge killed by many Pokemon like Fygon, Sharpedo, and Noivern.

Shadow Ball is preferred for its immediate and consistent power, but Hex can be effective to break down Fire-resistant Pokemon more quickly like Milotic, Noivern, and Gastrodon, especially with teammates that can spread status. Either Toxic or Will-O-Wisp can be used, although Toxic is generally preferred for its ability to inflict more damage and hit Incineroar.(Just keep it to Toxic.) Energy Ball is especially useful for Gastrodon and Rhyperior, OHKOing Gastrodon, as well Rhyperior with minimal prior damageit; however, they both get worn by Toxic and quickly put in range of Hex.once it is statused, it requires only a little chip to KO with Hex. Protect lets Chandelure scout Choice-locked switch-ins such as Flygon and stall statused foes. Flame Body can punish U-turn from the likes of Flygon and Crobat, and punish various other contact moves in a pinch.

Chandelure is extremely effective at forcing chip damage onto bulky Water-types like Milotic, which teammates like Flygon, Sharpedo, and BarbaracleMetagross(More relevant) appreciate. Togekiss and Heracross can also switch into Dark-types that revenge kill it, and Celebi, Roserade, and Assault Vest Reuniclus can take on the Water-types that sometimes force it out. (Mention Fighting-types to beat darks for chande.)Since Chandelure's Hex is twice as strong against statused foes, teammates that spread status, such as Toxic Gastrodon, NidoqueenTogekiss,(Twave toge is not relevant enough to mention) and Toxic Metagross, make it even more threatening. Chandelure also appreciates U-turn support, notably from Crobat and the aforementioned Celebi, to bring it into battle safely against Steel-types. Its middling Speed means it can be forced out by faster special attackers, such as Raikou and Starmie; offensive checks to them such as Choice Scarf Heracross and Rotom-CCelebi (Idk if this meant scarf celebi, either way rotom-c which actually runs scarf makes more sense)can therefore be useful. Knock Off users like Pangoro and the aforementioned Heracross can remove Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon that rely on it to switch into Chandelure like Noivern.(I imagine this was written when Noivern was more important, and goro knock can just KO it)

(Please change this section in accordance to the new set )
  • Flamethrower is preferred over Fire Blast as Choice Specs already grants Chandelure enough power; however, Fire Blast hits obscenely hard and picks up the 2HKO on Umbreon after minimal chip and the OHKO on an incoming Sharpedo.
  • Energy Ball hits incoming Waters(You mention eball twice, but this one seems less polished than your mention later on.). Trick cripples would-be walls like Umbreon; Hex, when paired with Toxic spam, enables Chandelure to break through bulkier walls; and Overheat acts as a mini nuke to finish off certain threats.("certain" and then nothing specific is listed. You could say Overheat 3HKOes specially defensive Incineroar and Guzzlord after Stealth Rock.
  • Even though Water-types like Gastrodon are usually a pain for Chandelure to deal with, Choice Specs turns the tables so, at worst, Energy Ball 2HKOs all of them.(Gastrodon is not normally a pain for Chandelure to deal with, simply saying what eball hits (Water-types and Rhyperior) should do.
  • Choice Specs also allows it to nail common switch-ins like Flygon, Noivern, and Rhyperior.=(It doesn't make sense to explain the item of only one set.)

  • Because of Chandelure's subpar speed tier, pivots that can get it in to battle like Heliolisk, Flygon, and Crobat are near mandatory partners for its success, and, in return, Chandelure provides a powerful breaker, letting them finish off weakened foes.(This simply isn't necessary and makes the sentence overly wordy)
  • (Mention fighting-types to help against darks.)
  • It also mandates hazard control, so partners such as Starmie and Crobat Togekiss, Crobat, and Galarian Weezing work well in this role.(Fog weezing isn't great it doesn't rlly have great MUs into the rockers or roserade and togekiss generally doesn't run it)
  • Galarian Weezing also provides a Knock Off switch-in absorber for Chandelure, checking giving it a switch-in to specially defensive(Offensive incin can sd up and beat gweezing.) Incineroar and Pangoro. and as a way to chip down it and Umbreon down, so Chandelure can have an easier time breaking later.(With Wish and Protect it's not very easy to do that)
  • In return, Chandelure clears Psychic-types like Gardevoir and Celebi for the latter two and Steel-types like Steelix and Registeel for all of them. Dark-types like Incineroar tend to wall Chandelure, so a check to them such as Golisopod, Heracross, and the aforementioned Galarian Weezing work well in that case.(Like none of these are great incin checks, gweezing checks specially defensive, but loses to offensive, and the others aren't good swap ins. Bulky waters and Diancie are better checks, though.
  • Hazards, along with Knock Off support, help with overwhelming Dark-types as well.
  • Therefore, partners like Spikes Roserade, Knock Off or Scarf(Dark-types don't really want to stay in on heracross and non-scarf can run spikes) Spikes Heracross, Knock Off Reuniclus, and the aforementioned Golisopod make for great partners.
  • If running Hex, Chandelure prefers status-spreading partners in Togekiss, who can help with Thunder Wave; Steel-types like Bronzong, who can help with Toxic; and bulky Water-types like Milotic, Gastrodon, and Jellicent, who can help with Toxic and Will-O-Wisp, respectively.(hex is gone)

  • Fire Blast is preferred chosen as it can is more powerful than Flamethrower, letting it pick up more KOs from Pokemon at higher health.
  • Energy Ball hits the Water- and Ground-types like Suicune and GastrodonFlygon (Not grass weak)that could come in freely otherwise.
  • Trick cripples walls like Umbreon.
  • Hex allows Chandelure to act as a powerful late-game cleaner with Choice Scarf while Overheat allows Chandelure to finish off foes or dent them on the switch in for its partners to take care of later.
  • (Talk about what infiltrator good for, faster sub mons ie raikou, suicune, and entei. And maybe mention Flash Fire as an alternative for teams which are weak to Fire-type attacks.)

  • Chandelure demands hazard control, lacking Heavy-Duty Boots. To fill this role, Starmie and CrobatGalarian Weezing, Crobat, and Togekiss are partners that also appreciate Chandelure clearing Psychic-types like Reuniclus and, for the former two, and Steel-types like Metagross, for all of them.(What I said in the last set fog weezing isn't very good and togekiss doesn't run it often)
  • Mention Fighting-type wallbreakers)
  • Galarian Weezing checks Pangoro and specially defensive Incineroar, and can accrue Rocky Helmet damage onto Incineroar helping Chandelure break it later. also acts as a Knock Off absorber, letting it check Incineroar and chip it down for Chandelure to overwhelm later.(I imagine helmet is at least part of what you meant by chip?)
  • Chandelure also struggles to deal any significant damage onto Dark-types, so Pokemon such as Bewear, Heracross, and LucarioGalarian Weezing(It checks dark-types, but isn't really great at dealing significant damage to them, generally, asides Incineroar, which it loses to offensive variants) aid it in that case. In return, it clears dangerous Psychic-types like Reuniclus that threaten them.
  • If Chandelure decides to run Hex to be a late-game cleaner, it requires status-spreading partners. Toxic Spikes Roserade, Thunder Wave Togekiss, and Toxic from bulky Steel- or Water-types, like Registeel and Milotic, can strengthen Hex for it.
  • Chandelure also appreciates hazards punishing its common switch-ins like Umbreon and, with Knock Off support, Incineroar too, so Pokemon like Golisopod, Knock Off Heracross, Spikes or Toxic Spikes Roserade, and Knock Off Reuniclus help it with clearing Dark-types. In return, it provides speed control to finish off threats like Celebi and opposing non-Choice Scarf Chandelure.(Really think of what does Chandelure want being worn by Spikes or Knock Off, ie Guzzlord and Umbreon, and are these Pokemon really good at crippling them?)
  • It also appreciates powerful wallbreakers as it is donned with a Choice Scarf and, hence, lacks power. Xurkitree and Celebi are two powerful breakers that assist it by clearing pesky Water-types, and, in return, Chandelure gifts them speed control to pick off weakened targets and pesky Grass-types like Roserade or opposing Celebi.(Idk about saying chande lacks power and then calling celebi powerful comparatively; either way this could be simpler. "Xurkitree and Celebi check Water-types for Chandelure and Xurkitree can pivot Chandelure in via Volt Switch. In return Chandelure threatens Grass-types like Roserade."

  • Chandelure can run utility moves like Calm Mind, Substitute, Pain Split, and Taunt. However, Calm Mind requires a difficult turn of setup, Substitute results in lost HP that Chandelure can't get back, and Pain Split and Taunt can directly or indirectly cost Chandelure HP.(you're basically describing the downsides of the moves which is situationally fine, but here focus on what cm, sub, pain split, and taunt can do for chandelure. CM can let Chandelure sweep slow teams, but isn't a great sweeper due to its speed letting it easily be rkilled. Taunt prevents Umbreon and bulky waters from recovering and Registeel's Toxic. Substitute lets Chandelure not have to worry about Toxic from Registeel.
  • Flame Charge can be used to get a Speed advantage over threats like non-Choice Scarf Flygon and Crobat, but this means that Chandelure must give up a useful coverage or utility move.(It gives chande a shot at sweeping, but, really the problem is that Chandelure isn't a very good sweeper, Flygon can rkill it as can Noivern and Raikou with minimal prior chip.)
  • An EV spread of 48 Def / 208 SpA / 252 Spe with a Timid Nature can be run on any set to avoid the OHKO from Choice Scarf Heracross's Stone Edge from full; however, Heracross isn't too common, so the extra breaking power benefits you more overall.

Checks and Counters
====

**Dark-types**: Sharpedo Guzzlord and Incineroar switch into and offensively pressure Chandelure with their respective STAB moves. However, they get easily worn by Toxic, are crippled badly by Trick, and struggle to take repeated Choice Specs attacks. the former can't switch in freely as it gets heavily chipped, and the latter hates being poisoned by Toxic.(It makes more sense to mention guzzlord and incin together.) Sharpedo easily revenge kills Chandelure.

**Special Walls**: Snorlax and Umbreon eat up and recover from anything Chandelure sends their way. Though, They must be wary of Trick crippling them, and Umbreon is 2HKOed by Choice Specs Fire Blast with Stealth Rock. though.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Raikou, Flygon, and Starmie are just a few faster Pokemon that force Chandelure out due to their superior Speed, but Choice Scarf sets can turn the tables and revenge kill them.(It's not even rlly great at "turning the tables" considering it doesn't KO Flygon or Raikou. Mention revenge killlers to Choice Scarf chandelure, ie faster scarf users like gon and xurk

**Porygon2**: Because of its Normal-typing and access to an ability in Trace, Poygon2 acts as the perfect counter to Chandelure taking no damage from either of its STABs; Toxic chip and Trick from Choice-locked sets cripple and take care of it, though.(I mean, it's not a perfect counter considering exactly what you mention, also we decided to change the abilities for specs and p2 isn't really important enough to deserve its own section you can move it under spd walls or honestly just remove it.)

**Protection Moves**: Moves such as Protect and Detect allow their user to scout out what move Choice-locked Chandelure is going to go for and switch accordingly, meaning it will almost always continuously fail to make any significant progress.(Very nebulous without context and I honestly don't see it being worth including.)

  • Chandelure demands hazard control, lacking Heavy-Duty Boots. To fill this role, Starmie and Crobat are partners that also appreciate Chandelure clearing Psychic-types like Reuniclus and Metagross.
  • Since Chandelure fails against Dark-types, Fighting-type wallbreakers like Heracross and Pangoro work well with it, and, in return, they are gifted with a way to deal with the aforementioned Psychic-types and speed control.
  • Galarian Weezing checks Pangoro and Specially Defensive Incineroar, and can accrue Rocky Helmet damage onto Incineroar helping Chandelure break it later.
  • Chandelure also struggles to deal any significant damage onto Dark-types, so Pokemon such as Bewear, Heracross, and Lucario aid it in that case. In return, it clears dangerous Psychic-types like Reuniclus that threaten them. you mention this above already, pick one bullet and delete the other
  • Chandelure also appreciates hazards punishing its common switch-ins like Umbreon and, with Knock Off support, Incineroar too, so Pokemon like Golisopod, Knock Off Heracross, and Spikes or Toxic Spikes Roserade help it with clearing Dark-types. In return, it provides speed control to finish off threats like Celebi and opposing non-Choice Scarf Chandelure.
  • Xurkitree and Celebi check Water-types for Chandelure and Xurkitree can pivot Chandelure in via Volt Switch. In return, Chandelure threatens Grass-types like Roserade.

  • Chandelure can run utility moves like Calm Mind, Substitute, Pain Split, and Taunt. Calm Mind, while requiring a difficult turn of setup, can prove excellent against slower teams. Substitute results in lost HP that Chandelure it can't get back reliably, but allows it to avoid Toxic from Registeel. Pain Split can regain you HP, and Taunt stops walls from healing up like Umbreon and Milotic and stops Toxic from them and Registeel. split this bullet into subcm which is a great stallbreaker but not much else and the other utility moves which are just kinda bad
  • Flame Charge can be used to turn Chandelure into a late-game sweeper, but it gets easily revenge killed by Flygon, Raikou, and Noivern after minimal chip.

**Dark-types**: Guzzlord and Incineroar switch into and offensively pressure Chandelure. However, they get easily worn by Toxic, are crippled badly by Trick, and struggle to take repeated Choice Specs attacks. Sharpedo easily revenge kills Chandelure.

**Special Walls**: Snorlax and Umbreon eat up and recover from anything Chandelure sends their way. Though, they must be wary of Trick crippling them, and Umbreon is 2HKOed by Choice Specs Fire Blast after Stealth Rock.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Raikou, Flygon, and Starmie are just a few faster Pokemon that force Chandelure out due to their superior Speed. Choice Scarf Chandelure can take care of these foes once their at low HP, but it gets revenge killed by faster Choice Scarf users like Xurkitree and Flygon.

mention stealth rock and water types too

[OVERVIEW]
  • With a tremendous Special Attack stat, decent Speed tier, and excellent offensive typing, Chandelure solidifies itself as a dangerous wallbreaker in the RU metagame.
  • Chandelure uses common Steel-types like Registeel as a wallbreaking opportunity, and checks Lucario and Cosmic Power Metagross.
  • (Mention how boots chande needs less support cause not hazard weak.)Heavy-Duty Boots Chandelure can weaken its own checks with utility moves like Toxic to further damage and strengthen Hex against threats like Togekiss and Milotic.
  • Choice Specs Chandelure is a very powerful wallbreaker which nukes most of the metagame and notably 2HKOes even Specially Defensive Umbreon with Fire Blast after Stealth Rock.
  • Choice Scarf Chandelure is a good revenge killer and strong late-game cleaner, which retains usefulness against bulkier teams with Trick.
  • Unfortunately, it struggles against Dark-types and special walls like Incineroar, Umbreon, and Snorlax, but these can be crippled with Trick from Choiced Chandelure, or, in the case of the Dark-types, overpowered by Choice Specs.
  • However, Choiced Chandelure bares a crippling Stealth Rock weakness.
  • On top of that, due to its mediocre defenses and poor defensive typing, it is easily revenge killed or threatened out by RU staples like Flygon, Milotic, and Incineroar.
  • It is also easily revenge killed thanks to its subpar speed tier and mediocre defenses, meaning Flygon, Noivern and Sharpedo can outspeed and finish it off. In the case of Choice Scarf Chandelure, Sharpedo can still outspeed thanks to Speed Boost, and Flygon commonly runs Choice Scarf itself.

[SET COMMENTS]

Shadow Ball is preferred for its immediate and consistent power, but Hex can be effective to break down Fire-resistant Pokemon more quickly like Milotic, Noivern, and Gastrodon, especially with teammates that can spread status. Toxic is preferred over Will-O-Wisp, as it hits Incineroar. Energy Ball is especially useful for Gastrodon and Rhyperior, OHKOing Gastrodon, as well Rhyperior with minimal prior damage; however, they both get worn by Toxic and quickly put in range of Hex. Protect lets Chandelure scout Choice-locked switch-ins such as Flygon and stall statused foes. Flame Body can punish U-turn from the likes of Flygon and Crobat, and punish various other contact moves in a pinch. Though, Flash Fire can be used on teams weak to Fire-type attacks.

Chandelure is extremely effective at forcing chip damage onto bulky Water-types like Milotic, which teammates like Flygon, Sharpedo, and Metagross appreciate. Togekiss and Heracross can also switch into Dark-types that revenge kill it, and Celebi, Roserade, and Assault Vest Reuniclus can take on the Water-types that sometimes force it out. Bewear and Heracross also work well with Chandelure, taking care of Dark-types. In return, they get to have their checks crippled.(what checks? Or just cut this) Since Chandelure's Hex is twice as strong against statused foes, teammates that spread status, such as Toxic Gastrodon, Nidoqueen, and Metagross, make it even more threatening. Chandelure also appreciates U-turn support, notably from Crobat and the aforementioned Celebi, to bring it into battle safely against Steel-types. Its middling Speed means it can be forced out by faster special attackers, such as Raikou and Starmie; offensive checks to them such as Choice Scarf Heracross and Rotom-C can therefore be useful.

  • Because of Chandelure's subpar speed tier and mediocre defenses, pivots that can get it in to battle like Heliolisk, Flygon, and Crobat are near mandatory partners for its success.
  • Fighting-type wallbreakers like Bewear and Pangoro work well with Chandelure, taking advantage of Dark-types like Guzzlord and Incineroar.
  • It also mandates hazard control, so partners such as Starmie and Crobat work well in this role.
  • Galarian Weezing provides a Knock Off absorber for Chandelure, checking Pangoro and Specially Defensive Incineroar.
  • In return, Chandelure clears Psychic- and Steel-types like Reuniclus, Registeel, and Bronzong Psychic-types like Reuniclus and Bronzong for the latter two and Steel-types like Steelix and Registeel for all of them. Dark-types like Incineroar tend to wall Chandelure, so a check to them such as Gastrodon and Diancie work well in that case.
  • Hazards, along with Knock Off support, help with overwhelming Dark-types as well. (What's actually Knocking off our Dark-types?, they don't really want to swithc into most knock users, generally. But, Spikes are good for wearing guzzy and umbreon)
  • Therefore, partners like Spikes Roserade, Spikes Heracross, Knock Off Reuniclus, and Golisopod make for great partners. (re above)
  • Partners such as Polteageist and Choice Scarf Indeedee-M which struggle with damaging bulky Dark- and Steel-types, respectively, enjoy Choice Specs Chandelure's ability to break through them with ease. In return, Chandelure is given a dangerous late-game cleaner.(Polteageist and Indeedee-M are both have lacking defensive profiles, making them hard to fit with the high maintenance specs chande, and aren't very good Pokemon, remove this or find more relevant examples.)
  • Due to Chandelure's ability to be able to lure in Fire resists and weaken them with Energy Ball like Rhyperior(rhyp isn't rlly a good chande switch-in in the first place. maybe "overpower Fire resists like incin and milo" or smth like that ) and Milotic, partners like Roost Nasty Plot Crobat(If rhyp is removed this'll make less sense, but celebi or metagross could work) and Choice Scarf(doesn't have to be scarf here.) Dark-types like Incineroar tend to wall Chandelure, so a check to them such as Gastrodon and Diancie work well in that caseis also appreciated. Hazards help with overwhelming Dark-types as well, so partners like Spikes Roserade, Spikes Heracross, and Golisopod make for great partners. Due to Chandelure's ability to be able to lure in and weaken Fire resists like Incineroar and Milotic, partners like Celebi and Flygon enjoy its presence. In return, Celebi takes advantage of Water-types, while Flygon pivots Chandelure in via U-turn.

Fire Blast is chosen as it can picks up more KOs from Pokemon at higher health, but Flamethrower can be run as a more accurate STAB move. Energy Ball hits the Water- and Ground-types like Suicune and Gastrodon. Trick cripples impedes walls like Umbreon. Infiltrator helps Chandelure against Pokemon that use Substitute, (rc) like Suicune, Raikou, and Entei.

With a tremendous Special Attack stat, decent Speed tier, and excellent offensive typing, Chandelure solidifies itself as a dangerous wallbreaker in the RU metagame. Using Steel-types like Registeel as a wallbreaking opportunity, it finds ample chances to come in and wreak havoc. It also checks dangerous setup sweepers like Lucario and Cosmic Power Metagross.

Celebi, Roserade, and Assault Vest Reuniclus can take on Water-types if they force Chandelure out, and Togekiss and Heracross can also switch into Dark-types that revenge kill it, and Celebi, Roserade, and Assault Vest Reuniclus can take on the Water-types that sometimes force it out. Bewear and Heracross also work well with Chandelure, taking care of Dark-types. (added hyphen) Additionally, teammates that spread status such as Toxic Gastrodon, Nidoqueen, and Metagross make its Hex even more threatening. Chandelure also appreciates U-turn support, notably from a Defogger in (if that's not the reason, maybe specify why Crobat is notable) Crobat and the aforementioned Celebi, to bring it into battle safely against Steel-types. Its middling Speed means it can be forced out by faster special attackers such as Raikou and Starmie can force it out; offensive checks to them such as Choice Scarf Heracross and Rotom-C can therefore be useful.
