Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Thanks for joining everyone! It was a great active session again. Happy to see so many new faces recently, especially since you all have been giving great suggestions :)

On Saturday the 30th (UCT the entire day), we are hosting a ChatBats mini-ladder tour! At midnight, Emika will reveal a laddering prefix. The person who reaches the highest position on the ladder using this prefix by the end of the day will be the first person who can choose the next Pokemon to be added to ChatBats (instead of using !randpoke).
We reworked Tatsugiri today, and edited some other mons too! We also learned a valuable lesson on the costs of democracy:
[17:15:33] Affles:emi whyyyy
[17:15:44] Affles:its not sashimiii
[17:15:45] Emi'$ Katana♡:Affles the tier is made by the people ;;
[17:15:55] Affles:sometimes they're wrong :sob:
Terapagos now has Protect instead of Earth Power/Dark Pulse on its offensive set. This allows it to stall a turn if it gets a non-favorable type and can also be helpful for scouting moves or healing with Leftovers.
Terapagos will also no longer be able to Terastallize. Being able to transform into Stellar form at will was incredibly strong, while also removing the whole identity of the mon.
Pelipper will have U-turn added to its Choice Specs set. This should allow it to be more flexible and less reliant on predictions to have value.
Milotic will now only generate Haze, along with dual Stabs and Recover. We removed some generally useless moves such as Ice Beam and Substitute, as well as Dragon Tail and Toxic, which both had the same role as Haze in preventing setup mons from abusing Milotic.
Delibird will no longer generate Life Orb instead of Heavy-Duty Boots. The combination of a 4x Rocks weakness, Brave Bird recoil, and Life Orb damage caused Life Orb Delibird sets to be difficult, and in some matchups impossible, to use effectively.
Tatsugiri was fully reworked, building on a new identity as a supportive wallbreaker, using Scarf to boost its Speed and Sashimi Shuffle to pivot around and heal allies. Regenerator allows it to shrug off chip damage, but it must be careful of hazards if it wants to use Water Spout with maximum power. Switcheroo allows it to remove the Choice Scarf to cripple foes and unlock its moves, but at the cost of being vulnerable to faster foes.
Tatsugiri (Water/Dragon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
Stat Changes: +10 HP, +10 Def
- Switcheroo
- Sashimi Shuffle (non-damaging pivot move that heals 1/3rd HP for the switch in)
- Twister
- Water Spout
Primeape (Fighting) @ Eviolite
Ability: Battle Rage (+1 Attack when hit by a foe)
Tera Type: Steel
- Drain Punch
- Taunt
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
Very silly and extremely custom set but I think it works well and has interesting gameplay interactions.
Rillaboom (Grass) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Terrain Shift: Sets Terrain on switch in, changes type to the type of terrain (Electric Terrain at 100% HP, Misty Terrain above 66% HP, Grassy Terrain above 33% HP, and Psychic Terrain below 33% HP)
Tera Type: Stellar
- Nature's Fury (Calls different move based on terrain: Grassy Glide in Grassy Terrain, Misty March in Misty Terrain (same as Glide), Wacky Whack ( 80 BP Psychic, +1 speed boost move in Psychic Terrain, Lightning Leap in Electric Terrain (same as Glide), defaults to ESpeed if no terrain)
- U-turn
- Wood Hammer
- Land's Wrath
Terrains have been changed: Electric Terrain blocks all Recovery moves from being used, Misty terrain boosts Fairy moves by 1.3x
Very fun and quick session, tons of people were there and we (somehow) managed to agree on a fun set
Mandibuzz (Dark/Ground) @ Thick Club (modified to Fling 130 BP)
Ability: Weak Armor
Tera Type: Poison
- Fling
- Scavenge
- Bonemerang (modified to restore Thick Club if user does not have it)
- Roost
Today we updated some older sets that were causing problems in the format!
Stonjourner has been terrorizing the tier with Victory Dance boosted Rock Wreckers, and we've reigned it in a bit by removing Victory Dance and giving it a Choice Scarf instead of Life Orb.
Vaporeon has been having trouble in the tier, being very weak and generally only using the Jolteon form. We've given it a Flame Orb instead of Toxic Orb, as well as some much needed moveset changes and stat buffs for Flareon.
Vaporeon/Flareon/Jolteon
Ability: Marvel Scale (Vaporeon), Quick Feet (Jolteon), Guts (Flareon)
Item: Flame Orb
Tera Type: Stellar
- Volt Switch
- Flip Turn
- Burn Out (Fire type U-Turn)
(Does not get STAB Pivot)
When it uses a pivot move, it transforms into the corresponding type
Dachsbun's ability to summon Koraidon on the enemy team, while a very cool and unique interaction, is also very problematic for balance and enjoyment. We have thus removed this interaction from Dachsbun.
Moltres will now have Grass as its Tera Type, instead of Ground.
The next update (including these changes) will be live on main in the next few days.
Added Flapple, Genesect, Honchkrow, Rillaboom, Primeape, and Mandibuzz.
Dachsbun: No longer generates a Koraidon on the opposing team.
Delibird: Can no longer generate with a Life Orb.
Milotic: Removed Dragon Tail, Substitute, Ice Beam, and Toxic from moveset.
Moltres: Tera Ground --> Tera Grass
Pelipper: Can generate U-turn.
Regieleki: Removed Blazing Torque from moveset.
Stonjourner: Removed Victory Dance from moveset, replaced Life Orb with Choice Scarf.
Tatsugiri: Reworked set.
Terapagos: Cannot Terastallize, now has Protect instead of Dark Pulse and Earth Power.
Vaporeon: Replaced Poison Heal with Marvel Scale, now has Recover and Scald instead of Wish and Bouncy Bubble. Flareon now has Facade instead of BBQ Beatdown.
Fixed Short Fuse not working properly when killed by residual damage effects.
Fixed Biogenesis not changing Mew's type before hazard damage.
Burn Out is now Special instead of Physical.
Purify now has 16 max PP instead of 32.
I also updated most of the move descriptions to be more concise.
Surprise session today, we got Feraligatr and just like Typhlosion we made a Mega form for it!
Mega Feraligatr (Dragon) @ Feraligatrite (+40 Atk, +20 Def, +20 SpA, +20 SpD)
Ability: Sheer Force (base), Dragon's Jaw (mega): Adds Dragon to the typing of all Bite moves, which have double secondary effects.
Kyogre @ Waterium Z
Ability: Oceanic Blessing (Flower Gift for Rain. Changes Kyogre into Primal form)
Tera Type: Water
- Origin Pulse
- Thunder
- Ice Beam
- Hurricane
- Tidal Surge (now gets Z +Speed if emikatana is okay with that)
We rolled Azelf today and because Azelf is the mascot of the Survivor room, we made it into a gambling mon!
Azelf (Psychic/Normal)
Ability: Auto Spin (Use Metronome at end of turn. Below 50% HP, use Metronome twice. At <10% HP, use Metronome 3 times)
Item: Focus Band (modified so the chance to survive is equal to the current HP percentage. Still 10% below 10% HP)
Tera Type: Stellar
- Rapid Spin
- Metronome
- Loot Box (Normal type, Random effect: 60 BP, 120 BP, 150 BP with recoil, Self heal for 25%)
- Acupressure
