Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- U-turn
Hydreigon is a great Choice Scarf user on offense teams because of its typing and power. U-turn allows it to gain momentum on the targets that it forces out, like Starmie and Kyurem, and also allows it to form a VoltTurn core with Pokemon like Mega Manectric and Scizor. Hydreigon can forgo Fire Blast to act as a last-minute Defogger on teams that need the role compression. Levitate gives Hydreigon a crucial immunity to Spikes and Toxic Spikes and lets it easily come in Krookodile and Hippowdon and gain momentum. Additionally, Hydreigon appreciates Fighting-type teammates that can deal with bulky foes that it struggles against in Umbreon, Blissey, and Porygon2. Hydreigon's so-so Speed tier puts it below other common Choice Scarf users, like Infernape and Latias, but this can be fixed with teammates that wall these Pokemon, like Tentacruel and Sylveon. Its lack of a boosting item on this particular set also makes it harder to break through Pokemon such as Alolan Muk, Azumarill, and Nihilego, but entry hazard setters and wallbreakers like Gliscor and Heracross can make for amazing teammates, as they can break through bulky defensive Pokemon.
