move 4: Toxic / Thunder / Rest
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Drizzle
nature: Timid
evs: 252 Spa / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
This set is primarily meant to be used as a late-game sweeper due to Primal-Groudon being removed from the metagame as a whole and there being very little answers to this scary and gnarly water monster. Water Spout and Origin Pulse are the two staple STABs that Kyogre needs to be this amazing late game menace. Water Spout just smacks anything hard that isn't Shedninja or Gastrodon. Ice Beam is utilized for bulky or any threatening dragon types that are common such as Eternatus, Zekrom, Giratina, or even Rayquaza. Thunder is there for potentially facing opposing Kyogres. Timid nature is a must in order to outspeed any base 150 speed pokemon, such as Calyrex-Shadow and Deoxys-Attack. With a timid nature, Kyogre reaches a speed stat of 459, and with modest it reaches 418 which is only good enough for outspeeding pokemon that have a 135 base speed stat.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Choice Scarf Kyogre is a gruesome and extremely threatening late-game sweeper. Water Spout has a guaranteed chance to 2HKO almost any offensive sweeper that is relevant, with or without hazards. It is better to not just lead from the get-go with this behemoth, and instead wait for hazards to be set on the opposing side to force hazard removers such as Spdef Yveltal, Ho-Oh, Giratina, or even Xerneas. It's also extremely crucial to manage and be aware of Kyogre's HP because Water Spout is its main damage dealer, although you do have Origin Pulse as a secondary STAB and is very strong and lethal, it doesn't connect the same 2HKOs that Water Spout does from full HP. Choice Scarfed Kyogre can 2HKO offensive Eternatus from full HP with a max Water Spout and 2HKO an offensive Zekrom from full HP with a max Water Spout, while also 2HKOing a Rayquaza after rocks. A max Water Spout in the rain can OHKO numerous offensive threats such as Geomancy Xerneas, Life Orb Yveltal, offensive and defensive Necrozma-Dusk-Mane.

Kyogre is very solid on most Balance teams, especially ones with duel hazards such as Toxic Spikes or Spikes. Eternatus is an amazing partner because of its ability to set up Toxic Spikes and to wall opposing Kyogres and remove their Water Spout PP. Another great partner to Scarfed Kyogre is Ferrothorn due to its ability to set up Spikes and Leech Seed to turn those 2HKOs into potentially OHKOs by layering the field with hazards and constantly draining HP from walls or offensive threats. Ho-Oh is a nice ally to have with Kyogre because it can remove annoying hazards for Kyogre's Water Spout power and can scare out opposing Ferrothorns. Glaring Zygardes are also a nice wall to have in the back to help slow down any threats if you wanted to go the Modest Nature route on Kyogre, and Zygarde glaring in general is a great aid to have on the team as a whole with Kyogre.

Other Options
Surf can be used over Origin Pulse if you are just worried about accuracy or if you have Specs instead of Scarf. Toxic is an excellent niche to have for the likes of Gastrodon or Shedninja when prepping. Rest is a last resort and can be used quite nicely when paired with Umbreon with Heal Bell or Xerneas with Aromatherapy.

Checks and Counters
**Ferrothorn** Ferrothorn is a perfect switch in to Kyogre because of its amazing typing and SpDef stat. Along with it being able to Protect, Leech Seed, and not even be 2HKO'd after rocks and spikes from a max Water Spout.

**Defensive Eternatus** Eternatus is a very strong pivot for Kyogre with its massive HP stat of 140 and its decent Def and SpD stats of 95. Not to include, its ability Pressure to wear down the PP of Water Spout and Ice Beam while recovering up easily after Stealth Rocks.

**Opposing Kyogres** Calm Mind, Rest Kyogre is a pretty scary menace to face off against and can be a switch-in to Scarfed Kyogres and just set up on you.

**Gastrodon** Gastrodon may not be used a whole lot, but it can certainly block any chance of Kyogre sweeping with its ability Storm Drain and its huge HP stat.

This set is primarily meant to be used as a late-game sweeper due to Primal-Groudon being removed from the metagame as a whole and there being very little answers to this scary and gnarly water monster. Kyogre is a deadly late-game cleaner thanks to its decent speed and solid firepower. Water Spout and Origin Pulse are the two staple STABs that Kyogre needs to be this amazing late game menace. Water Spout can break through most of the metagame, barring checks such as Ferrothorn or Eternatus. just smacks anything hard that isn't Shedninja or Gastrodon. Ice Beam allows Kyogre to potentially damage is utilized for bulky or any threatening common dragon types that are common such as Eternatus, Zekrom, Giratina, or even Rayquaza. Thunder allows Kyogre to heavily damage is there for potentially facing opposing Kyogres. Timid nature is a must in order to outspeed any base 150 speed pokemon, such as Calyrex-Shadow and Jolly Zacian-C. Deoxys-Attack. [sir this mon doesn't exist] With a timid nature, Kyogre reaches a speed stat of 459, and with modest it reaches 418 which is only good enough for outspeeding pokemon that have a 135 base speed stat. [this entire thing seems to be restating the first paragraph. If there is any unique / relevant information in here, you should transfer it to that paragraph.]

[Mention that Zacian-C can fit well here since it really appreciates that Ogre can heavily pressure ndm. Additionally, consider mentioning that Calyrex-S can work well alongside it, since Kyogre can pressure Yveltal and Ttar.]

Other Options
=============

Surf can be used over Origin Pulse for its greater if you are just worried about accuracy, but at the cost of a significant amount of power. or if you have Specs instead of Scarf [Specs will get its own set]. Toxic can be useful is an excellent niche to have for the likes of Gastrodon or Shedninja when prepping, but is by and large unreliable due to the rarity of the aforementioned checks. Rest is a last resort and can be used quite nicely when paired with Umbreon with Heal Bell or Xerneas with Aromatherapy. [I honestly don't see this ever being used and it completely defeats the point of Ogre, especially if your opponent has zacian or something]

Checks and Counters
=============

**Ferrothorn**: Ferrothorn is a perfect switch in to Kyogre because of its amazing typing and special bulk SpDef stat, couples with its ability to take advantage of Kyogre with Spikes and Leech Seed. Along with it being able to Protect, Leech Seed, and not even be 2HKO'd after rocks and spikes from a max Water Spout.

**Defensive Eternatus**: Eternatus is a very strong pivot for Kyogre with its massive HP and decent special bulk. stat of 140 and its decent Def and SpD stats of 95. Not to include, Additionally, its ability, (AC) Pressure, allows it to wear down the PP of Water Spout and Ice Beam while recovering off Kyogre's damage up easily after Stealth Rocks.

**Opposing Kyogres**: Calm Mind, Rest Kyogre with Calm Mind and Rest is a pretty scary menace to face off against and can be a can switch-in to Scarfed Kyogres and use it as setup fodde while forcing it out. just set up on you.

**Gastrodon**: While uncommon, Gastrodon may not be used a whole lot, but it can reliably certainly switch into any of Kyogre's moves thanks to its typing coupled with Storm Drain. block any chance of Kyogre sweeping with its ability Storm Drain and its huge HP stat.
