Togedemaru @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Zing Zap
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Toxic
Previously a niche support option on teams, Togedemaru gained a key move when USM came around and ultimately gave it Iron Head via tutor move—subsequently allowing it to hit Ground-types, like Golurk and Golem, that previously walled it—Togedemaru shot up in viability as a way of checking the ever-popular sleep users, Lilligant and Jynx, as it resists their STAB moves and outspeeds them both, even at +1, easily gaining momentum against them with U-turn. Togedemaru also functions as one of the fastest pivots in the tier and a good revenge killer, capable of checking and dealing with several common metagame threats like Archeops, Lycanroc, and Oricorio-G by putting them in unfavourable positions depending on what moves they pick. It can force Lycanroc and Oricorio-G out if they choose to boost. Along with subpar bulk, making it unable to switch into even strong resisted attacks, Togedemaru also struggles with breaking walls like Type: Null and Gastrodon, along with Steel- and Poison-types immune to Toxic, such as Ferroseed and Weezing. Team support from wallbreakers like Magmortar and Passimian help break these checks and soften teams to allow Togedemaru to revenge kill and clean easier, with Togedemaru being able to pivot them in.
