[OVERVIEW]

Electric
========

Zapdos is an incredible special wallbreaker for Electric teams mainly due to Hurricane and a great Speed tier. Choice Specs Hurricane hardly has any reliable switch-ins in the metagame when paired with Volt Switch and Heat Wave, OHKOing Hydreigon and 2HKOing other Pokemon like Toxapex and Excadrill. Many types such as Ground, Dragon, and Water cannot switch into Hurricane. Hurricane is also useful for taking out Grass-type Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Celebi, and Rillaboom, which Electric teams typically struggle with. Zapdos's Speed tier is important, as it allows Zapdos to outspeed common slower offensive threats such as Hydreigon, Tapu Lele, and Kyurem and threaten the rest of the team. However, Hurricane can be unreliable due to its shaky accuracy. This, combined with Zapdos's overreliance on the move and weakness to Stealth Rock, makes it a rather inconsistent wallbreaker. Choice Specs Zapdos also forces Rotom-W to drop Pain Split and serve as the Defogger or the team.

[SET COMMENTS]
Hurricane is the most important move on this set and allows Zapdos to beat a majority of the metagame. Certain Pokemon such as Nidoking, Choice Band Dracovish, and Mamoswine are OHKOed, while bulkier Pokemon and Flying-resistant foes such as Toxapex, Swampert, and Excadrill risk being 2HKOed. Volt Switch is used to grab momentum, (RC) mainly against types that don't commonly carry an Electric immunity such as Psychic, Fairy, Ghost, and Dark. Heat Wave hits Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Excadrill, and Aegislash, and along with Volt Switch, makes Zapdos able to break through Steel teams. Thunderbolt deals consistent damage against Pokemon like Galarian Corsola and Calm Mind Tapu Fini. Static can punish contact moves such as Excadrill's Rapid Spin and Landorus-T's U-turn.

Rotom-W provides entry hazard removal and removes Stealth Rock, which otherwise limits the amount of times Zapdos can switch in. It can also utilize its defensive typing to check Pokemon such as Barraskewda under rain and Heatran for Zapdos. In return, Rotom-W appreciates Zapdos's ability to take out Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Rillaboom with Hurricane. Magnezone's ability to trap Excadrill is amazing for Zapdos, as it can spam Volt Switch and beat Steel teams with it removed. Magnezone's defensive typing is also notable to take on Ice- and Rock-type attacks from the likes of Weavile and Tyranitar as well as Dragon Dance Dragapult. Alolan Raichu's Knock Off removes Galarian Slowking's Assault Vest in the matchup against Poison teams, allowing Zapdos to 2HKO the entire team with Hurricane. Zeraora is a physical wallbreaker that beats Pokemon such as Galarian Slowking, Tyranitar, and Blissey for Zapdos; in return, Zapdos deals with physical walls like Amoonguss and Hippowdon for Zeraora. Tapu Koko forms a good wallbreaking core with Zapdos that is very good against types like Ground, Water, and Dragon.

A Defog set can be used on Zapdos with Heavy-Duty Boots, though this gives up Zapdos's amazing wallbreaking capabilities with Choice Specs. Roost can be used over Thunderbolt in case Zapdos gets its item removed through Knock Off.

**Special Walls**: Pokemon such as Cradily under Grassy Terrain, Galarian Slowking, Blissey, and Heatran can take any of Zapdos's attacks and beat it.

**Residual Damage**: Stealth Rock limits the amount of times Zapdos can switch in and leaves it more vulnerable to getting revenge killed by Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. Toxic poison hurts Zapdos's longevity as well and hinders its ability to break against types like Steel, Water, and Flying.

**Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dracovish, Tapu Koko, and Weavile outspeed and beat Zapdos. Priority users such as Bisharp and Mamoswine can also pick it off if it is chipped.

**Knock Off and Trick Users**: Knock Off users such as Drapion, Mew, and Clefable limit Zapdos's wallbreaking potential by removing its Choice Specs. Trick users such as Tapu Fini and Jirachi hinder Zapdos in a similar fashion.

* Zapdos is an incredible special wallbreaker for Electric teams mainly due to its access to Hurricane and a great speed tier.
* Choice Specs Hurricane hardly has any reliable switch-ins [AH] in the metagame when paired with Volt Switch and Heat Wave; with Pokemon like Hydreigon getting OHKO'd [Either rephrase this with 'potentially' or use a different example since Hurricane is only a roll to OHKO Hydreigon, an unfavorable one at that.] and others like Toxapex and Excadrill getting 2HKO'd by Hurricane. [Probably use different examples here, like Swampert since Toxapex and Excadrill are comfortably dealt with by its other moves anyway.] Many types such as Ground, Dragon, [AC] and Water cannot switch into Hurricane alone.
* Hurricane, along with its Flying typing, is also particularly useful for taking out Grass-type Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Celebi, and Rillaboom Electric teams typically struggle with.
* Its Speed tier is important as it allows it to outspeed many common slower offensive threats such as Hydreigon, Tapu Lele, and Kyurem and threaten the rest of the team.
* However, Hurricane can be unreliable due to its shaky accuracy. This, combined with Zapdos's over reliance on the move and weakness to Stealth Rock results in it being a rather inconsistent wallbreaker.

[SET COMMENTS]
* Hurricane is the most important move on this set, and allows Zapdos to beat a majority of the metagame. Certain Pokemon such as Nidoking, Hydreigon [Its an unfavorable roll to OHKO, use a different example.], and Mamoswine straight up get OHKO'd, while bulkier Pokemon and resists such as Toxapex, Swampert, Excadrill, and Choice Scarf Rotom-W are still at risk of being 2HKO'd.
* Volt Switch is used for grabbing momentum, mainly against types that don't carry an Electric immunity such as Psychic, Fairy, Ghost, and Dark [Krookodile is sometimes used so use a different example or just remove the mention].
* Heat Wave allows Zapdos to hit Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Excadrill, and Aegislash for super-effective damage, and along with Volt Switch, makes Zapdos able to break through Steel teams altogether.
* Thunderbolt is Zapdos's last attack, and can potentially OHKO Pokemon such as Urshifu without having to rely on Hurricane's shaky accuracy.
* Static is the chosen ability which can punish occasionally punish contact moves such as Excadrill's Rapid Spin and Landorus-T's U-turn.

* Rotom-W is a great partner for Zapdos as it can cover the role of hazard removal and remove Stealth Rock which otherwise limits the amount of times Zapdos can switch in. It can also utilize its defensive typing to check Pokemon such as Barraskewda under rain and Heatran for Zapdos. In return, it appreciates Zapdos's ability to take out Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Rillaboom with Hurricane.
* Magnezone's ability to trap Excadrill is amazing for Zapdos as it can now spam Volt Switch and beat Steel. Its defensive typing is also notable for coming in on Ice- and Rock-type attacks such as from the likes of Weavile's Icicle Crash and Tyranitar, for Zapdos.
* Alolan Raichu's Knock Off is appreciated by Zapdos in order to remove Galarian Slowking's Assault Vest against Poison, allowing Zapdos to 2HKO the entire team with Hurricane.
* Zeraora is great for physical wallbreaking; being able to straight up beat Pokemon such as Galarian Slowking and Blissey for Zapdos while Zapdos in return deals with physical walls like Amoonguss and Hippowdon for Zeraora.
* Tapu Koko can be mentioned and how Zapdos and Tapu Koko form a great Choice Specs core, Tapu Koko + Zapdos is also really nice vs stuff like Dragon

[overview]
- would mention that since specs zapdos is the only real set on electric teams, it has forced pokemon like rotom-w to take on the defog mantle, which its not great at

[set details]
- would specify choice band dracovish since scarf rend ohkoes zapdos
- scarf rotom-w feels like a weird example, since it can like trick away zapdos's specs or volt or w/e before its second hurricane lands
- would add that magnezone can deal with dd pult for zapdos
- add tyranitar to pokemon zeraora beats for zapdos
Tapu Koko forms a good walbreaking core with Zapdos; namely being very good against types like Ground, Water, Waater and Dragon together.

[checks & counters]
- would also mention trick users removing its specs being annoying

Good Job, QC 2/2!
