F8 Challenge: Hurt and Heal
This is a very simple game. Everyone will begin with 10 HP. You may post once every 2 hours in the "Hurt and Heal" channel, with an updated health list. On this updated health list, you will take the previous person's post, and decrease one player's health by 2 HP, and increase one other player's health by 1 HP. You may not increase your own health. Once your health reaches 0 HP, you are eliminated from the challenge and cannot post in the channel anymore. This challenge ends when there is one player remaining - this player will win individual immunity. You may start posting in the channel tomorrow at 12pm EDT (that is noon!). I will set up the channel later.

Additionally, as another hotfix to this challenge so it doesn't last forever, starting 12 hours from now, a poison effect will be applied to everyone. That is, every 2 hours, everyone will take 1 HP damage. This poison effect will stop if the only people left each have 1 HP and will all die simultaneously.

Welcome back to the Curaçao Olympics! We are excited to have you all back competing as individuals instead of as tribes. The events remain the same as last time:
1. Typing Speed
2. Pokémon Battling
3. Jigsaw Puzzles
4. Wordsearches
5. Mathematics
6. Pokémon Trivia
7. Slide Puzzles
8. Speed and Focus
9. Hand-Eye Coordination
(Please note that things will change for some events so that doing the events the previous time doesn't provide any advantage.)

This time, instead of winning a point for your tribe by beating one other person, you will be fighting for a top 3 spot in each event to earn points for yourself! A gold medal in an event earns you 5 points, a silver medal earns you 3 points, and a bronze medal earns you 1 point. There's one catch though - you are only able to participate in 5 events maximum, so make sure you go for the events you're best at! (Or the events nobody else will pick!) Good luck, and may the best person win!

You have until Thursday at 9pm EDT to schedule a time with me to do your events and do them. You can do them all in one sitting, or in multiple.

Note that the tiebreakers are: gold medals won, then silver medals won, then head-to-head in events both people participated in.

Using https://sketch.io/sketchpad/, you are to draw any Pokémon of your choosing, and submit it to me with the name of the Pokémon you drew. Once I have received everyone's submitted drawing, I will post them all publicly in treemail without the names of the Pokémon. You will then send me your guesses for what each of the Pokémon are. For each correct guess of what someone else drew, you get 2 points. For each person that successfully guesses your drawing, you get 1 point. There's a catch though - if everyone successfully guesses what Pokémon you drew, you get 0 points for the people that guessed your drawing. Please note: Your drawing cannot contain any words. The person with the most points at the end of the challenge wins individual immunity. You may not talk to other players about this challenge at all.

The remaining tribe members were asked to give availability to schedule a time to run the challenge. (3 ended up showing up.) This challenge is a trivia game, in which contestants are asked 15 questions about Survivor Curaçao. If correct, the first submitter gets 300 points, the second submitter gets 200, and the third gets 100. But if incorrect, the submitters get negative 300/200/100 instead. The player with the most points after the 15 questions will win individual immunity.

Tiffany lost a firemaking duel to Angela, and was thus eliminated at the last tribal council.

Since there is a jury of 9 with 3 finalists, a 3-3-3 potential tie exists! And so a challenge was put up for the 3 finalists. It was a flash game called 4 Second Frenzy, and the winner got to choose a finalist to be the deciding vote in case of a 3-3-3 tie. Angela won this challenge.

Hey guys, I guess this will be the postgame! I’ll spoiler everything into sections just so it’s not a huge wall of text. But first, I just wanna say that I had soooo much fun hosting this. Thanks to all the players for joining and being invested - it couldn’t have been done without you. Now for all the rest of the stuff!

Anonymous Twist:

After we all knew what happened in All-Stars, I figured it’d be the perfect time to host an anonymous season. I’ve hosted anonymous forum mafia in the past, and was always tempted to try it out for survivor. I wanted pregame relations to be gone, and I wanted it to be true to the essence of survivor - strangers being forced to work together.

There were definitely some concerns though. Social relations was the main one - if people can’t talk about their lives, then how can people get close? The other one was activity. Would people remember to log onto their anon accounts?

Fortunately this game ended up working extremely well. The social aspect worked really well despite having people not able to talk about everything. People did find logging into the anon account inconvenient since many of them couldn’t from phone, but otherwise most people were still quite active. And finally, people not having a starting reputation worked beautifully. No alliances based off of identities were formed, and many people enjoyed not having targets on their back solely based off who they are. I think it’s safe to say that this was a success, and should absolutely be done in the future if people still want it!

Season Theme:

I didn’t just want this season to be remembered as “that anon season”. I wanted the theme to actually have some merit. I wanted the tribes to be memorable. So what did I do? I took the “Jeffrey from Curaçao” meme, and turned it into the theme. I tried to sprinkle in things about Curaçao throughout the season (see the I love Curaçao!). As for the “Jeffrey” part, it was honestly really fun for me to be playing under an “anonymous account”/other identity while you guys were too. It allowed me to goof off a lot by saying things about this other guy named ajhockeystar while staying in character as Jeffrey. It also allowed for the AJ = Nario memes, so that was a huge plus!

As for the tribes, I have an inside joke with some friends regarding Relicanth, so I decided on that as one tribe. Corsola was the obvious other choice as another Water/Rock which doesn’t evolve. These were perfect choices imo - two Pokémon that are usually not remembered makes it so you guys were able to create an identity for them, per se. And you guys definitely did. You showed lots of tribe spirit, so thank you for that!! Now whenever you see a Corsola or Relicanth, hopefully you remember this game.

Challenges:

When I looked at the feedback on challenges from the last Survivor, I noticed a few things:
a) There’s too many effort challenges, and too early.
b) Some challenges take too long.
c) Some challenges can be too complicated.
d) There needs to be more challenges that can help break relationships.
e) Some challenges are simply not fun.

I tried to improve on all of those this game. I scrapped challenges that I thought couldn’t be understood easily. I tried to add social challenges. And I tried my best to make sure all challenges at least appealed to some group of people. 2 of the 3 preswap challenges involved talking with teammates and working together (Guesspionage and Family Feud), and the other one showcased skills so that people could get a better idea of one another (Olympics).

Then after the swap, we had an art challenge, which also doubled as something that can show effort to new tribemates and something that can build new tribal spirit. I also included something else that could show effort (Bowser Ball), and the obligatory battling challenge. (There always has to be at least one, and that was it!)

The first merge challenge was an attempt to get people to talk around to the other players, and I think most of the other challenges were pretty self-explanatory. Well, except for Hurt and Heal. Here’s my explanation for that one. It was supposed to be at F9, which is an odd number, where people are likely to flip. And chaos did occur at F9, so it would have been perfect! But Cocoa being kicked screwed it up. The actual F8 challenge was meant to be what I used as the 3-3-3 tiebreaker. I obviously couldn’t move Hurt and Heal to being a tiebreaker, so that’s why it was at F8 instead, which kind of screwed a couple people. Sorry! (blame cocoa y/y)

Overall I think the challenges were mostly liked? Please give me feedback! I want to know what you guys loved, liked, and didn’t like.

Idols/Advantages:

After last season and the million idols, I didn’t want to re-hide them this time. I had one idol for each starting tribe, and one at the merge. I think my hiding method was really good for the first idol - people had to read the rules! And I liked the puzzle I had for it too. (RIP Milton) I think my swap advantage was pretty good too, since it wasn’t too overpowered. The only personal problem I had was with the merge idol, and how easy it was to find the clue.

Gameplay:

I actually won’t talk about this much here, because I wrote full episodes in the discord! I’ll mostly talk about what I think were some of the most iconic moments of this season, the things we will remember in the future:

-Savannah making Travis/Milton seem like they had a pregame connection
-Milton failing to find the idol, and “that means nothing to me :D"
-Katrina’s challenge carry
-Judge 1 and ReliOof’s blue eye
-Nario’s elimination and the double idol tribal council
-the Corsolas throwing the challenge by forfeiting battles right at the start, and Robbie going off before elimination
-“Those who you think are under your thumb are not so” -Katrina Anonymous Source
-Oriba quitting after being saved 2+ times
-the Travis stab after many many votes of talking about it
-the merge idol paranoia
-the craziness on the 4th of July, with the target switching from Savannah to Kerrigan to Milton
-Kerrigan giving the idol to Milton right before his elimination
-Tiffany orchestrating the Bobby blindside but forgetting to vote
-Savannah saying how much of a threat she was, making Angela (and Taylor?) realize she needed to go home
-firemaking between Tiffany and Angela

If there’s anything you guys think I missed, please let me know!!

And now for a few final things. Firstly, please tell me how my hosting was as a whole! There were a few things I did differently (allowing jury to talk in tribal council was one!). So yeah, lemme know if things like that were good, and how you felt about all the other things I mentioned in this post! (anonymous twist, season theme, challenges, advantages) Also please feel free to talk about the gameplay in general!

The above is so far from the truth, like lol? I mean, look at the winner and all the alliances she made while everyone knew she was Hannah. Not knocking Hannah here, but I think it's pretty laughable to say that real identities didn't have a very strong impact on the final season. That said, there definitely were some people who were either not able to guess the others or who were able to stay undetected. But there's a significant portion that did identify each other, and I think Hannah's success was her ability to ally with people who knew who she was and who she was able to (correctly) guess who they were. It wasn't as bad as Odd Group, but identity definitely played a part in many alliances.

Grats to Hannahh for not quitting and taking charge when needed : ) It's about time she got this done.

I think in the endgame who’s who becomes more clear but it mostly prevents premerge and early merge alliances high can define the game. I’m a fan
