[SET COMMENTS]
Cobalion provides top-notch role compression in UU by virtue of the several valuable traits it offers, including fantastic Speed, a firm offensive presence, an expansive support movepool, and an excellent offensive and defensive typing. Its Stealth Rock set provides teams with a reliable entry hazard setter capable of blanket checking Pokemon like Tsareena, Rhyperior, and non-Close Combat Haxorus. Volt Switch lets Cobalion generate momentum against various switch-ins like Doublade and Golisopod. Thunder Wave provides solid utility, crippling switch-ins like Noivern, Centiskorch, and Chandelure. Swords Dance is another option that increases Cobalion's offensive presence, allowing it to more reliably pressure bulky Pokemon like Galarian Weezing, Rhyperior, and Gigalith. Shuca Berry eases Cobalion's matchup against Ground-types like Flygon and Rhyperior, allowing it to take them on more easily. It also eases its matchup against Pokemon that commonly run Earthquake like Gigalith and Haxorus. Leftovers is also an option for passively restoring health, which improves Cobalion's ability to consistently switch into Pokemon it checks, such as Umbreon and Drapion. Rocky Helmet punishes physical attackers like Tsareena and Haxorus, but generally isn't as consistent an option.

This set fits well on balances and offenses alike thanks to the solid mix of offensive and defensive utility it can bring. Sweepers like Haxorus and Celebi value Cobalion's ability to set Stealth Rock, as well as its ability to either wear opposing teams down with Swords Dance or pivot them into play for easier setup. Wallbreakers like Mamoswine and Inteleon also appreciate both the entry hazard and pivoting support Cobalion gives them. This set is fairly vulnerable to bulky Water-types, meaning checks to them like Heliolisk and Rotom-C, which Cobalion can additionally form a VoltTurn core with, make good teammates. Cobalion also tends to lure in Ghost-types like Chandelure and Doublade, making answers to them such as Incineroar and Mantine solid partners. Incineroar is particularly helpful, also patching up Cobalion's shabby matchups against Psychic-types like Espeon and Celebi. Checks to Noivern such as Sylveon and Milotic are quite appreciated due to Cobalion's struggle to consistently pressure it. Noivern itself can check Grass-types that Cobalion has a shaky matchup against, like Roserade and Celebi, while potentially bringing it in safely against Gigalith and Rhyperior. Spikes setters such as Roserade and Golisopod can form a hazard stacking core with Cobalion while also taking on various Pokemon it struggles against, like Galarian Weezing and opposing Cobalion, respectively.

[SET COMMENTS]
This set utilizes Cobalion's great Speed, offensive typing, and coverage to function as a solid sweeper with fair defensive utility. Stone Edge covers a large amount of Pokemon that resist Cobalion's STAB combination, including Golisopod, Centiskorch, Chandelure, and Mantine. It also hits Noivern super effectively. Thunder Wave gives Cobalion the ability to spread status, crippling several common switch-ins and easing its matchup against faster Pokemon like Noivern and Salazzle. Rock Polish makes Cobalion much harder to revenge kill, allowing to outrun Noivern and Inteleon, as well as Choice Scarf users such as Flygon and Heliolisk. Shuca Berry provides insurance against Ground-types like Flygon, Gastrodon, and Rhyperior. It also prevents Cobalion from taking too much damage from Ground-type coverage from the likes of Gigalith and Haxorus. Leftovers gives Cobalion a source of passive recovery, allowing it to capitalize on its typing's defensive perks more easily throughout a match. Life Orb puts respectable power behind Cobalion's attacks, allowing it to OHKO Incineroar even at -1, though this comes at the important cost of longevity. Lum Berry is also an option for increasing Cobalion's reliability against bulky Water-types and Will-O-Wisp Galarian Weezing, but it often proves to be less situationally useful than its other options. Chople Berry is usable as well, easing the matchup against opposing Cobalion.

Entry hazard support from Pokemon like Necrozma, Rhyperior, and Gigalith lets Cobalion more easily break past opposing teams. Toxic Spikes support from the likes of Roserade and Galarian Weezing can be particularly helpful, weakening checks like Chandelure and various bulky Water-types. Pivoting support from the likes of Noivern and Rotom-W can also be beneficial, bringing Cobalion in safely against Pokemon like Umbreon and Roserade and allowing for more reliable setup. Rotom-W is particularly helpful, circumventing Cobalion's shaky matchups against defensive Water-types like Mantine and Jellicent. Other Pokemon that can pressure the aforementioned Water-types, such as Tsareena and Celebi, also make good partners. Celebi can particularly pair well with Thunder Wave Cobalion, as it can more reliably pressure a paralyzed Noivern. Revenge killers like Choice Scarf Heliolisk patch up Cobalion's vulnerability to faster threats like Inteleon and Noivern. Additionally, strong wallbreakers like Gardevoir and Haxorus help soften opposing teams for Cobalion to more easily break through late-game. Cobalion itself can adequately support Pokemon susceptible to bulky Dark-types, like Reuniclus and Chandelure. If running Shuca Berry, it can also lure in and combat Ground-types for Pokemon weak to them, like Toxtricity and Toxicroak.

Cobalion provides top-notch role compression in UU by virtue of the several valuable traits it offers, including fantastic Speed, a firm offensive presence, an expansive support movepool, and an excellent offensive and defensive typing. Its Stealth Rock set provides teams with a reliable entry hazard setter capable of blanket checking Pokemon like Tsareena, Mamoswine, and Roserade I would probably replace the Roserade mention, as Cobalion has comparitive problems with Rose compared to other Steels, doesn't switch in on LO Leaf Storm well or Sleep Powder, and Iron Head only doing ~55% to Rose if it tries to predict Rocks. Swords Dance in the fourth slot increases Cobalion's offensive presence, allowing it to more reliably pressure bulky Pokemon like Galarian Weezing, Rhyperior, and Gigalith. Volt Switch lets Cobalion generate momentum against various switch-ins like Doublade and Golisopod. Mention Thunder Wave, letting Cobalion punish Noivern for switching in and letting you flinch it down, which otherwise checks you well Shuca Berry eases Cobalion's matchup against Ground-types like Mamoswine, Flygon, and Rhyperior, allowing it to take them on more easily worth mentioning how it lets Coba check a chipped DD Haxorus too . Leftovers is also an option for passively restoring health, which improves Cobalion's ability to consistently switch into Pokemon it checks, such as Roserade and Drapion. Rocky Helmet punishes physical attackers like Tsareena and Haxorus, but generally isn't as consistent an option. Fightinium Z is also pretty cool.

This set fits well on balances and offenses alike thanks to the solid mix of offensive and defensive utility it can bring. Sweepers like Haxorus and Celebi value Cobalion's ability to set Stealth Rock, as well as its ability to either wear opposing teams down with Swords Dance or pivot them into play for easier setup on mons like Jellicent and Milotic. Spikes setters such as Roserade and Golisopod can form a hazard stacking core with Cobalion while also taking on various Pokemon it struggles against, like Galarian Weezing and opposing Cobalion, respectively. Mention some mons that can check Noivern somewhere in this, ie. Mamo earlier, and maybe include Milotic in the Ghost-types point.

Would also bring up Noivern, which can help check Grass-types like Roserade and Celebi that Coba struggles to compared to other Steel-types, as well as being able to bring Coba in on Gigalith.

Rock Polish makes Cobalion much harder to revenge kill, allowing to outrun Noivern and Inteleon, as well as Choice Scarf users such as Flygon and Heliolisk. Again bring up Thunder Wave Shuca Berry provides insurance against Ground-types like Mamoswine, Flygon, and Rhyperior. It also prevents too much damage being taken from Ground-type coverage from the likes of Gigalith and Haxorus. Leftovers gives Cobalion a source of passive recovery, allowing it to capitalize on its typing's defensive perks more easily throughout a match. Entry hazard support from Pokemon like Roserade, Rhyperior, and Necrozma lets Cobalion more easily break past opposing teams. Would bring up Gigalith in this section too, its ability to soft check Gardevoir in particular is valuable with a Steel type that can't. Pivoting support from the likes of Noivern and Rotom-C can also be beneficial, bringing Cobalion in safely and allowing for more reliable setup would specifically mention what they can bring in, ie. Gigalith, Roserade, Umbreon. Rotom-C is particularly helpful, circumventing Cobalion's shaky matchups against defensive Water-types like Mantine and Jellicent. Other Pokemon that can pressure the aforementioned Water-types, such as Tsareena and Celebi, also make good partners Celebi is a particularly good partner for Twave Coba, since the Twave support lets it beat Noivern .

Toxic Spikes users like offensive Weezing and Drapion are worth bringing up, helping to pressure checks like Chandy/Jelli/Vapo. Drapion also helps to check stuff like Roserade / Gard that Coba struggles with as a Steel.

Slash life orb before leftovers (and maybe even before Shuca because it's really good???) on the SD set, does shit like guarantee ko on washtom at +2, actually 2HKO Rhyperior (or OHKO at +2), OHKO Chandy sometimes, OHKO Mantine with Stone Edge at +2 instead of not OHKOing at all, OHKO SpD Bronzong at +2 instead of not ohkoing at all, OHKOing Incineroar after Intimidate unboosted, OHKOing Milotic at +2, OHKOing defensive Galarian Weezing at +2, OHKOing Golisopod at +2, et cetera. It does a lot. Item works best on offensive teams.
