Cong threads that no one reads, everyone posts in

I'm sure this isn't the right place for this, but there's an ever growing number of Cong threads where people just post stuff about them that no one cares about. Cong's supposed to be a forum for critical discussion, rather than "post something about this aspect of you that no one really cares about". Most of these threads start off well intentioned and are interesting, but they eventually die out, only to be eternally bumped by random user xyz coming to tell us he swears an average amount, keeps a phone in his pocket, and buys his clothes from some store xyz.

While banning these kind of threads would be extreme, would locking them after a week or two make sense? I mean, I really don't think anyone cares how DeathKurai came up with his innovative and original user name.

I'm going to agree with Chris here, though I see no problem with stopping them altogether. From the rules:

3. Threads need to have actual content that promote discussion. We don't need to know what you had for breakfast today. Most common topics are usually news items, politics and real life events near you. This applies to the replies as well as to the opening posts of threads - this is not a post count ++ forum.

Yeah I support this, there is nothing interesting about these threads. In fact I'd be all for banning them outright.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I'd hate for this very thread to become yet another PC++ thread. Any Cong mods mind taking care of this?

I wouldn't have any trouble losing these (I like the 6 words one actually, though I wish there was more actual discussion there) since they're what I had in mind when we were making the rule that was quoted. I tend to be lax on that type of thing as much as I dislike PC++ threads since they're vaguely on-topic and it's not like their existence hurts anything, but it's probably time on most of those, though I see someone got them anyway.

There are some mildly interesting posts in their, unlike the other threads which mainly consist of 1-5 word posts.
