Welcome to the team signups for the third iteration of the Coronavirus Premier League! Due to the widespread impact COVID-19 has had on the world, many Smogonites find themselves with more time on their hands than they know what to do with, especially those located in Brazil and Italy. Enter Coronavirus Premier League, a team tournament that capitalizes on the vast amounts of free time now available to the SmogTours community by condensing what would usually be a full week in a regular Premier League into a single day. Thanks to TDK for coming up with this idea and Wigglytuff and Boat (phiwings99) for hosting the first and second editions.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ Unlike previous editions, this Corona Premier League will not feature an auction or player signups. This time, teams will be able to join the tournament by posting their full roster here in this thread - a bit like World Cup of Pokemon. For this tournament, there are no restrictions or prerequisites; you simply may signup on the team of your choosing. Please keep in mind the captain of each team must accept you, but there is no auction or form of team selection. You just join with who you want to play for. We realize this may be a bit exclusive, as such, we will post a second thread to handle "Free Agency." Details on that can be found here, but the idea is for those who do not currently have a team to play are welcome to post there to find one.
More information can be found below:
- Every team will need one Manager, with an optional Assistant Manager. They will be allowed to play, and thus, will count for the limit of players per team if they decide to play.
- Signups are first-come; first-serve basis. If we end up with more teams than humanly possible to work with, we will have to remove teams from the tournament;
- Every team needs to field at least 15 players and cap at 30 players;
- The starting lineup - which does not need to be posted the moment the team is signing up - will feature 12 players.
- Teams will be placed into pools alongside opposing teams - the size is not fixed yet and depends on the overall size of the tournament;
- Tour- and Forum-banned users still can't play in this tournament. Make sure to tag all your players when you're posting your team signup.
