Welcome all to Corona Premier League III! This edition we will have 28 teams battling for the glory and the $100 (USD) charity donation provided by Loki (we thank you!). The team will be able to pick any charity to donate that value, as long as Loki approves it beforehand. As always, we request to all reading this thread to take the pandemic of COVID-19 seriously. Practice social distancing, wash your hands, do whatever you can to flatten the curve nationwide and keep as many people as possible safe and healthy. Please refer to the CDC and NIH websites for further information on staying healthy. Together, we can beat COVID-19!
Format:
Teams consist of twelve starters, at least 3 substitutes, and two captains (that may play if they wish). The tiers for this tournament are:

Best of 1 RBY OUTeams will be ranked based on records, rather than points. This means the eight teams with the best records will qualify for the quarter finals for this tournaments. If two or more teams have identical records, points will be used to sort out the tiebreaks. If teams are tied for overall and points for this round, there will be a tiebreak to determine who advances. The tiebreak will consist of five series: Bo5 Classic, Bo5 Slam, Bo3 Tours, one tier chosen by each team (which could be any of these again). The higher seed (based on points for Round 1) will get second pick of tier.
Substitution:
We have a lot of subs per roster, and Captains may use them as they see fit. Keep in mind once a player is subbed out, they cannot be subbed back into the same round, but can be put back onto the roster for next round. I will not allow substitutions throughout tiebreaks.
Simulator:
I cannot stress this enough: you will need replays for your victory to count. To avoid problems, play on Smogtours. I will not repeat myself here.
Sportsmanship:
Don't be a dick towards your opponents. That should go for granted, but we all know it. All Tournament Rules apply for this tournament, even if enforced less adamantly.
Scheduling Matches
Ok, this is going to be tricky. I know a lot of people playing here are new to the tournament stage, and we're glad to have you! This tournament goes a bit different, however: you'll play 3 opponents in a short time-span, and considering the number of teams we have for this tournament, any match will be important if your team wants to advance. Please, schedule with your opponents accordingly and don't leave matches for "later": schedule mentioning your timezone, and availability to play. Managers, PLEASE help your players get matches done. I will probably ignore any activity claim that isn't 100% clear.
Disconnecting
If you disconnect and do not come back, I do not have the tools to help you out. If your timer goes to zero, you lost.
On "Self-KO Clause" and Ties:
Self-KO Clause is an antiquated concept that is not used in Smogon tournaments. The one exception to the rule is if the tournament is live (weekly Smogon Tour, Suspect Tours, etc.). For all standard tournaments here this rule does not exist. It Does Not Exist.
If both Pokemon faint simultaneously in DPP, ADV, GSC, or RBY, the game is ruled as a tie. Tied games do not count as played games in overall standings and will be expected to be replayed within the round's initial deadline. Similarly to this, tied games do not count towards the total number of games played in "best of X" series. In other words, if a tournament includes RBY, what is really being played is "first to two win" RBY.
However, ties simply don't exist in later generations. The developers removed ties from BW and have not added them back since. There's a lot of inconsistency with the mechanics of their tiebreaking system but Smogon follows them to stay true to the cartridge. The main ones are listed below:

Deadlines:
This is still CPL, however! We have very short deadlines for this tournament, and this edition will not be different. Thus. all battles are to be completed by Sunday, April 26th at 11:59 pm EDT (GMT -4). Battles that are not completed will be reviewed for activity and have a winner declared accordingly. If both parties are at fault, the game will simply not count in deciding final standing. Activity calls will not be made before the round is over. You'll have 3 days to schedule and play against 3 opponents: this should be easy enough. I can and should be reached out to if you are having any issues getting a game done.
