Counter That Doubles Team #2! (Team #1 Submissions!)

Pinsir takes tons of damage from Togekiss and Charizard X and loses to both of them 1v1 while taking up your mega slot. Even though Heatran is cool Kabutops gets my vote

I literally just noticed this now... what's with the Pokemon selection order??? As shown in numerous previous counter that team projects, having the first and last picks are big advantages, especially the latter. In our schedule, team 1 has both the first and the last pick- which gives it a big unfair advantage. Also, team 2 pretty much picks its first 3 Pokemon in a row, which is also a huge disadvantage because team 1 can easily capitalize upon team structure predictability @.@ Not requesting that this is changed right now since there isn't much we can do but can we have the correct (T1 x2 / T2 x2) / (T1 / T2) x4 order next time???

Anyway, all current submissions leave weaknesses, so I'll just have to pick the one that leaves the least-

voting Kabutops

We'll just have to add an Anti-Amoonguss Pokemon. Kabutops also actively beats Tyranitar, diminishing the chance that we'll ever have an opposing weather to deal with

I think the mentality is that the first pick is actually bad considering Team 1 just has to pick a core at random, but Team 2 can pick a core to counter-team Team 1's core. To make up for this disadvantage, Team 1 gets the last pick :o

It's been done this way in multiple other threads in other tiers, so I think it's for the best :x

The problem is that right after T1 picks its core, T2 has to pick half of its team. This is also quite a big disadvantage, because in the case where a solid T1 starter core is chosen, it will be more difficult for T2 to capitalize upon T1's weaknesses than vice versa. (more Pokemon = more weaknesses = fewer chances in the future to fix them.)

I guess T1 having the last pick isn't that bad but it's certainly not even. At least get rid of the T2 3-pick next round ;_; Unfortunately we're already here so we can't do anything about it D: The show must go on

Wouldn't it make more sense to just have a snake draft, with the first picks being the core? T1 gets first 2 picks, T2 gets last pick since they have to pick half their team first.

Voting for LightningLuxray's Kabutops. Fun physical rain sweeper that still has a STAB spread attack.

Picking Pinsir into CharX and Togekiss seems iffy.
That Heatran set is really cool, but WoW and no EP vs CharX and a second Taunt doesn't seem too helpful atm.

Alright, here's my submission:

amoonguss.gif

Amoonguss @ Mental Herb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Sunny Day
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Rage Powder

136 SpA Thundurus Thunder vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Amoonguss: 96-114 (22.2 - 26.3%) -- 12.1% chance to 4HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss in Rain: 161-189 (37.2 - 43.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 120-142 (27.7 - 32.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Kabutops Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss in Rain: 116-136 (26.8 - 31.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Kabutops Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 109-129 (25.2 - 29.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
136 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Thunder vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Amoonguss: 125-148 (28.9 - 34.2%) -- 2.6% chance to 3HKO

So yeah basically this thing eats up everything.

Mental Herb + Sunny Day guarantees we can get rid of rain, and Sunny Day can also help Zard X.

Rage Powder / Spore also give us two other ways to ease setup.

gastrodon.gif

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Recover
- Protect

4 SpA Gastrodon Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kabutops: 242-288 (92.7 - 110.3%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO (guaranteed after 1 turn of LO)
252+ Atk Life Orb Kabutops Low Kick (60 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 79-94 (18.5 - 22%)

252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 246-289 (57.7 - 67.8%) <- only threat to Gastro at all of the 3 mons being used.

4 SpA Gastrodon Scald vs. 140 HP / 0 SpD Thundurus in Rain: 145-172 (43.4 - 51.4%) -- 9% chance to 2HKO (considerably higher with burn chances!)

landorus.gif

Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 76 HP / 252 SpA / 180 Spe
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Psychic
- Sludge Bomb
- Protect

Team2's team already deals with charizard if its at +1, but if it keeps getting more boosts, then we could get swept. The easiest way to prevent this is attacking follow me/rage powder users. Unfortunately this isnt easy with 1 mon but landorus-i's pure strength allows it to hit very hard. This set is simple, sludge bomb and psychic are there for toge and amoo respectively and earth power is STAB. I chose modest nature as team1's charizard is adamant and lando-i needs the power for more of a chance to ko amoongus and enough speed to out speed t1's xzard at +0

Relevant calcs:
252+ SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Landorus Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Amoonguss: 403-476 (93.2 - 110.1%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
Only need a small bit of damage to guarantee a ko (any hit from any mon on t2's team)

252+ SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Landorus Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Togekiss: 296-351 (79.1 - 93.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Doesnt need much damage, prevents toge switch in on anything but a kabu low kick

252+ SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Landorus Earth Power vs. 72 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard X: 572-678 (181.5 - 215.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Easy ohko

It forced xzard to use flare blitz for guaranteed ko:
+1 252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Dragon Claw vs. 76 HP / 0 Def Landorus: 310-366 (91.9 - 108.6%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
If at full xard takes enough flare blitz recoil for kabu rock slide to ko.

talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Sleep Talk
- Flare Blitz

252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 72 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard X: 216-255 (68.5 - 80.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Togekiss: 246-289 (65.7 - 77.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 422-500 (97.6 - 115.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

2HKO's / OHKO's all of Team 1's mons, can revenge kill a boosted Zard X, Sleep Talk deals with Spore.

I'll give this until the end of the day before I open voting.

In the spirit of steeljackal

heatran.gif

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 52 HP / 252 SpA / 204 Spe
Modest Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flash Cannon
- Taunt
- Protect

EVed to outrun Togekiss (can taunt it yay!), convenient lefties number for HP recovery

80+ SpA Togekiss Aura Sphere vs. 52 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 152-180 (45.2 - 53.5%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Heatran Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Togekiss: 254-302 (67.9 - 80.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO through Sitrus

meanwhile, good against the obnoxious grasses mentioned in the post above mine. Hope you don't mind I took off rocky helmet bby :/
Renommed because lazy. Taunt also completely craps all over Amoonguss.
