Going crazy with these next few days off, so here it goes:

Alright, SJCrew brought Crawdaunt up in the "unfit for analyses" (or w/e) thread, so credit goes to him for the creation of this analysis. Crawdaunt had taken my eye for a good chunk of time (before Flygon (hint hint)) and to be quite honest, I believe that he deserves an analysis for OU. Crawdaunt is without a doubt an unexpected threat in this metagame, but most players tend to use basic knowledge of Crawdaunt in order to form an analysis, so to speak, of him in team preview. Crawdaunt is best known for Dragon Dancing, as it gives him a great amount of power while also giving him a good chance at sweeping balanced and more defensive teams. This can be a double-edged sword for Crawdaunt. Because most players underestimate his sheer strength, Crawdaunt can net some useful KO's and deal nasty damage to the opposition. Conversely, the opposing team's audacity towards Crawdaunt can make things such as predicting switch-outs and -ins a lot more difficult to pull off.

If Crawdaunt had an official analysis for OU, the aforementioned problem would be significantly reduced. Crawdaunt has the attributes to be a notable threat with its "can't be ignored" offensive options and passable speed, but due to the lack of an analysis, not many players know what he's capable of.

Why this deserves to be on-site:

• Drizzle teams are truly at their most frightening when opposing rain checks and / or weather starters have been eliminated from play
• Thanks to his sheer power and surprisingly effective speed, Crawdaunt can make a fantastic lure for threats to rain such as Ferrothorn and Gastrodon
• Of course, Crawdaunt faces harsh competition with Tornadus and Dragonite as a wall breaker, but Adaptability with Water / Dark STAB is what separates him from other rain powerhouses
• Dragonite and Tornadus are very effective lures for Ferrothorn, but both will more than likely fall to Jirachi, Rotom-W and Tyranitar to an extent
• Crawdaunt doesn’t care about any of those Pokemon and can spam Crabhammer, 2HKOing and OHKOing some of the bulkiest walls in OU, or make a simple prediction with Crunch, which should down most of the Storm Drain / Water Absorb users in OU
• Crawdaunt also isn’t weak to Stealth Rock, and can afford to switch into weaker / resisted physical hits (Tyranitar, Bullet Punch, etc), which compensates for the lack of Flying typing and his thin shell (paper defenses (I suck at making jokes))
• The lack of speed is a bit off-putting, but it’s more than enough to outpace most of the defensive threats in OU as well as the majority of Scizor
• In regard to Hurricane vs Crabhammer, Crawdaunt has the advantage of both coverage and PP, making prediction even less of a chore

Additional Comments

• Crabhammer < Waterfall is solely preference
• Crabhammer lets Crawdaunt 2HKO and OHKO a lot of notable threats such as Virizion and Rotom-W whereas Waterfall's flinch rate and 100% accuracy will come in handy more against defensive teams
• Crabhammer's higher critical hit ratio makes up for its lower accuracy, but not as often as one could hope for
• Spikes - a single layer at least - are important to but not really needed for Crawdaunt's success; Ferrothorn for example, can now be 2HKOed by Crabhammer
• Double-Edge is here mostly to serve as extra coverage
• The reason as to why it's used of Frustration is the simple fact that Crawdaunt needs to milk as much power as he can get out of this set
• Body Slam gets a neat mention for being able to potentially cripple some of Crawdaunt's checks, and works in tandem with Waterfall's flinch rate

Teammates and counters

• Politoed, obviously
• Starmie is definitely one of Crawdaunt's better partners, as revealed by testing
• Starmie can spin away entry hazards, which is always helpful for a choice attacker, and greatly benefits from Ferrothorn, Lati@s and Rotom-W being severely weakened or outright dead
• Anything with U-turn or Volt Switch is welcome to pair with Crawdaunt
• Slow U-turners, such as Scizor and Jirachi can get Crawdaunt in safely and help wear down walls (breaking Skarmory's Sturdy, putting Nattorei into 2HKO range, etc) or support Crawdaunt with status and / or Wish
• Jolteon is another partner that Crawdaunt would love to have
• Jolteon is capable of weakening the opposition with Volt Switch (securing KOes on Ferrothorn and Rotom-W), giving Crawdaunt some fodder to munch on (TTar, Jirachi, Latias, etc) and most importantly, getting Crawdaunt in safely
• Roserade is great too, setting up Spikes while boasting really good defensive synergy with Crawdaunt; not only that, but Roserade can also Stun Spore everything, greatly helping Crawdaunt's speed problem
• Tornadus gets a special mention for being able to wreck shit alongside Crawdaunt
• Tornadus can also use Tailwind as a last ditch effort - another assist for Crawdaunt's low speed
• Generally anything faster with a super effective attack can strike fear into Crawdaunt, but keep in mind that Crawdaunt can at least tank stupid things like Jolly Air Balloon Dory's Earthquake and move on with his day
• Cloyster can set up on Crawdaunt locked into Double-Edge, which really shouldn't happen that often

This is the second match in which I’d used Crawdaunt (didn’t click “Save Log” in the first match), so I was able to figure out a good enough strategy to employ for these logs. The team that I’m using functions similarly to a DragMag team, i.e, mindless spam with something to patch up the remaining holes. As these logs progress, you’ll see the team change quite a lot. This is because I wanted to experiment with potential partners for Crawdaunt and make my matches a bit more comprehendible and convincing. Anyway, back to this log. In this match, Crawdaunt did more than enough for me, beating down a sleeping Ferrothorn (my opponent obviously didn’t expect for a resisted attack to do that much, or that I would even attack with Crawdaunt rather than boost), which softened up my opponent’s team enough for Pedobear to clean up.

Why this deserves to be on-site:

• If Choice Band gets approved, Dragon Dance has to come with it; otherwise Crawdaunt will become extremely predictable and eventually useless
• Dragon Dance is by no means a bad set anyway, as Crawdaunt can now outpace a lot of previous threats and even OHKO Ferrothorn with Superpower (assuming a with Dragon Dance boost)
• Getting a boost is the difficult part, but Crawdaunt can force a fair amount of switches or even tank a hit if needed
• Outpaces Celebi, Specs Rotom-W, Ninetales, most Haxorus, Landorus and Meinshao (lol), after a Dragon Dance boost and can OHKO them all with the appropriate attack
• Resists Bullet Punch and Ice Shard, which is something notable for a speed boosting sweeper
• Unlike Gyarados, Crawdaunt doesn't give two shits about Nattorei, Rotom-W or Celebi (on the off chance that Bounce is missing for some odd reason) and doesn't really need Stealth Rock to be gone as badly

Additional Comments

• Wallbreaker FIRST, sweeper SECOND
• Crawdaunt doesn't have anywhere close to the bulk needed to pull off more than one Dragon Dance, which means that Crawdaunt will become a sitting duck if he boosts too early in the game
• Frustration hits Breloom and Toxicroak for a lot more damage, KOing both with a bit of residual damage, but Superpower can down Ferrothorn after a Dragon Dance, preventing it from completely walling this set

Teammates and Counters

• Crawdaunt retains the same teammates as in the Choice Band set, but much, MUCH more emphasis should be placed on Volt Switching, U-turning and / or disruptive status such as confusion, paralysis and sleep
• Politoed, once again, is Crawdaunt's main partner, boosting his Waterfall to abnormally high power levels
• Politoed also has access to Hypnosis, Scald and Encore, giving Crawdaunt plenty of chances to switch in
• Tornadus, Rotom-W, Jolteon, Scizor - all of these Pokemon can help weaken the opposing team with U-turn / Volt Switch while getting Crawdaunt in safely
• Nattorei shares a Fighting weakness with Crawdaunt, but is otherwise a good partner as he can paralyze infinitely faster threats and set up the entry hazards vital to some of Crawdaunt's KO's

I'd personally go with Waterfall on the CB set, too, since Crawdaunt is sufficiently fast enough to aim for that 20% flinch on certain mons like Forretress, Skarmory, Ferrothorn for that 2-3HKO. However, from your damage calc, the slight power loss may allow Pokemon like Virizion and Rotom-W to avoid O-2HKOs. Body Slam seems like it deserves an AC - still 2HKOs Bulk Up Toxicroak, and the 30% par chance can come in handy.

You should mention that you have to be careful switching in on offensive attacks. Most pokemon who's STAB is resisted by Crawdaunt have a move in their arsenal to KO Crawdaunt.

But seriously, I've vouched for Crawdaunt in the past (here, in case you gentlemen missed it). His lack of bulk is very disappointing, but his speed is just enough for the walls he needs to ruin and he has the strongest options for his respective STABs in the game. Gyarados and Tyranitar look like pussies compared to this guy.

I'm glad Chillarmy went the extra mile though. That's how we get shit done.

Now where crawdaunt is bright red, Kingler has a dark orange skin color.
Also the thing about Crawdaunt is he hits like a truck with CB but his moveset is so predictable that you can switch your team around and resist a bunch of his moves (although he certainly can poke some holes with +1 crabhammer), and DD is almost non-existant because if crawdaunt trys to set up he either gets hit by some poke he sets up on and dies or lives the hit and gets revenged by almost any scarfer.

If Crawdaunt has to make a prediction like that, he's going to need all the power he can get. Bulk Up Toxicroak has a small chance of being KOed by Double-Edge after spikes damage while Frustration definitely falls short, which is very important considering that Toxicroak can outpace and OHKO Crawdaunt effortlessly.

I love Crawdaunt, but I think we should wait until we see if weather gets banned or not, as then Crawdaunt would be absolutely useless in OU.

Also the thing about Crawdaunt is he hits like a truck with CB but his moveset is so predictable that you can switch your team around and resist a bunch of his moves (although he certainly can poke some holes with +1 crabhammer)

Don't tl;dr the OP as the damage calcs really show how wrong you are. I'd posted most of the notable water resist calcs to show that Crawdaunt doesn't have to to worry much about being outplayed.

and DD is almost non-existant because if crawdaunt trys to set up he either gets hit by some poke he sets up on and dies or lives the hit and gets revenged by almost any scarfer.

That makes no sense. By your logic, Scrafty is a terrible Dragon Dancer, as is Dragonite, but statistics say otherwise - and no one wants to follow logic that's already been proven wrong by solid evidence.

I'm pretty sure it is actually possible to have Body Slam and Superpower on the same set. A male Azumarill can be bred Body Slam in gen 4 and then Superpower can be taught via move tutor. Then that can act as the parent in 5th gen. There might be an easier way but that is just one method.

That only applies for the CB set though as I don't know if it is possible to have Body Slam + Superpower + Dragon Dance (this probably doesn't matter though as don't really have room for both Body Slam and Superpower on the Dragon Dance set).

Well you could do it that way, but then Crawdaunt couldn't have Adaptability (though you could breed a male version of your above scenario with a female dream world Crawdaunt to get the right ability with both moves present).

Either way, Body Slam + Superpower + Adaptability is definately possible.

EDIT: It IS possible to breed to get the ability and both moves on the same set. The male parent (e.g. azumarill) would pass down the moves and the female parent (dream world crawdaunt) would pass down the ability :D

And yeah, I can't find the thread but Crabhammer > Waterfall. The extra 10 power doesn't seem like much, but it nets Crawdaunt crucial 0HKO's and 2HKO's. I remember when I proposed Crawdaunt I mentioned that he could 2HKO Empoleon with a Crabhammer (no spikes) whereas Waterfall fell short.

My logic does not indicate scrafty is terrible, you cannot compare those two just because of their middling speeds and DD access, Scrafty has amazing bulk, amazing typing, solid move pool, and decent attack and synergizes nicely with DD. Scraftys bulk and typing allows him to pull off a slower DD sweep but crawdaunts pathetic defenses and bad defensive typing allows him to get revenged by many fighting types like Mienshao and Terrakion.

Its kinda weird how you said thanks for the feedback and dis my joke and get mad at my criticism.

One last thing, there are so many different things that can happen to effect your damage output so damage calcs dont mean much, I mean its cute and all but stuff happens that you cant always account for.

I apologize for that, as you worded that in a pretty awkward fashion. I honestly thought that you were drastically underestimating Crawdaunt's power, which is a common misconception matter of fact.

If Scrafty gets hit, he can die as well; Scrafty doesn't have Multiscale or Intimidate, so without investment, it's not an easy task for Scrafty to tank a hit and start boosting. Crawdaunt falls in a similar vein, but can force more switches. Moreover, Crawdaunt hits 343 Speed after a Dragon Dance, beating everything up to and including Liepard (lol).

That's not helping your case at all. Aside from Reflect and burns (which shouldn't be around that often anyway), there are no outside factors that will support and / or capitalize a misplay on Crawdaunt's part. I didn't bring the damage calcs up just because they look legit and pretty; I brought them up because they were able to neuter your comment about Crawdaunt being outplayed. You, in fact, missed the actual problem with Crawdaunt: It's difficult to predict what measures will be taken against him. For example, a player expecting Dragon Dance might Taunt Crawdaunt or attempt to stay in on him, as opposed to attempting to outplay him. Crawdaunt will constantly be at risk because there's just too little known about him. He has enough bulk to tank a couple of hits from the Pokemon he outpaces and, with the correct support, isn't that difficult to switch in.

Then Focus Sash would be slashed on every set-up attacker there is. Unless you can do something special with that sash(like alakazam), or intending to lead(like froslass idk.), it is understood that you can use sash with spin to survive a hit.

Focus Sash is generally not a preferred item for sweepers because it require two exceedingly common battlefield conditions to not be in effect (hazards, weather damage) and only works once. You'll surprise a couple of people for sure, but you'll have a lot more success using something you can plan on working all of the time and every turn.
