ORAS UU Cream Puffs and Emo Kids!

Hey guys Uniterflash or Azirrr on PS here! This was the team I used to get my Suspect test Reqs and maybe a few of you raters ran into this on the ladder. As you can see its hyper offense featuring the infamous Mega-Absol and Slurpuff duo! Now for the team:

azelf.gif

Azelf @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Psyshock
  • Azelf is generally my lead! I used to have dual screens w/rocks on this guy, but I remember seeing an awesome offense lead Azelf somewhere on the fourms and after trying it I liked it. This guy put in tons of work and many times on the ladder did he get me a suprise ko and it makes a great lure for things like Mega Pidgeot, Swampert, Krook, and more! I also realize energy ball is kind of questionable but my team tends to struggle against bulky waters so I decided to throw it on and it worked.
absol-mega.gif

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Baton Pass
  • Absol is another physical sweeper. I like Magic Guard+SD alot and Sucker punch for priority and BP to pass boosts is just icing on the cake! Knock off is also very nice becuase pretty much anything to switch-in gets crippled. I really liked to BP to something like mienshao after SD as well becuase LO Reckless +2 HJKS destroys worlds :p.
slurpuff.gif

Slurpuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Drain Punch
- Return
- Play Rough
  • I noticed my team did not fair well vs. Scarf Hydrei and Shao so I decided to throw on slurpuff as an answer to both! BD Puff is a pretty big threat and I was suprised at how many people didn't prepare for this creamy monster of goodness. I also have really liked this guy since ORAS, drain punch was a huge buff imo.
nidoking.gif

Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Ice Beam
  • Okay this set is a bit odd. I had nidoqueen here originally but I had to run quite a bit of speed invest to outspeed cune and gligar and Im able to do that with 8 on Nidoking becuase of his better speed tier. I also like the extra power he brings with a high Sp. Atk stat. I'm really not sure if this set is optimal or good but let me know so I can change if it is sub-optimal.
mienshao.gif

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
- U-turn
  • Since I already included a scarfer in salamence, I decided to go for LO mienshao and try something new. Even without scarf this guy is pretty damn fast and forces quite a few switches becuase LO Reckless HJKS hurt a ton. He serves as a wallbreaker and the primary recipient of SD from absol. He can sweep teams at +2 with ease!
salamence.gif

Salamence @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Iron Tail
  • I wanted another good cleaner and moxiemence just runs through teams with outrage. Only thing is I have to make sure mamoswine is down before I bring this guy in becuase of LO Ice Shard :(. Shao breaks through steel types for this guy and weakens stuff so he can come in and sweep up. He's won me quite a few games :). I'd also like advice on the moveset, not sure if there are better options than iron tail and EQ.

Things this team Struggles with:
  • Bulky Waters(Suicune and the like)
  • Mamoswine is something that really gave me a problem but azelf can ohko with energy ball
  • BD Slurpuff also gave me quite a hard time, but scarf mence outspeeds if he's adamant
  • Mega Beedril can also dent quite a few things on this team and I had issues with it
- If you think this team has problems with any thing, please mention it! I probably missed a crapton of threats and I really appreciate all feedback :).
Shoutouts:
Duskt for being a great friend, the OG mentor and support, Hogg for being a human library and answering all my crazy questions, waivv for being an awesome guy :).

I'll try to come up with a more in-depth rate in a bit, but here are some things I've noticed right off the bat...

  • Slurpuff should definitely be Jolly instead of Adamant, as this allows you to outspeed common Scarf mons such as Mienshao.
  • Mienshao gets worn down very easily with LO, especially since it will often be pivoting out with U-turn. I'd recommend Regenerator over Reckless. Alternately, if you want to keep the wallbreaking potential of Reckless, consider going with Choice Band over Life Orb.
  • If you do go with Regenerator, consider using Fake-Out over Poison Jab. While the ability to hit Fairies is nice, Fake-Out + U-turn is a nice quick way to rack up some damage even on bulky opponents, and the priority helps you get past faster sweepers. However, only do this if you decide to go with Regenerator - otherwise, the LO recoil will add up too quickly.
  • Nidoking is really only worth it for Speed, so if you're using King over Queen, go max Speed. To put things into comparison, your max HP Nidoking spread actually has less bulk than a Nidoqueen with only 56 HP, and the rest in Speed (making you significantly faster than the Nidoking you have there). I'd decide whether you prefer bulk or Speed. If you want bulk, go with Nidoqueen; otherwise, stick with Nidoking but fully invest in Speed.
  • You might want to consider Psychic over Psyshock on Azelf - Psychic packs more punch against the average opponent, and I usually only prefer Psyshock on NP Azelf. However, this one's really up to you, as there are definitely times when Psyshock is the better choice.
When I'm not at work, I'll try to go over the team as a whole as well. Good luck!

Thanks for the awesome rate, will add fixes when Im on a pc :)

Yo really cool and powerful team you got here, I like how this team bluffs suicide Azelf only to blast your opponent with LO boosted attacks instead and also how LO Reckless Mienshao helps you overwhelm bulky blanket checks like Suicune that could otherwise really trouble the team. Like Hogg said, Nidoking should really always run max speed to be worth it and even then I'd still recommend Nidoqueen overall considering how important getting up those Rocks are for this team and how much more reliable the Queen is at it.

Honestly there's not much else to fix on this HO team besides some nitpicky set stuff:

Absol already has such a hard time setting up to begin with so I really have to question Baton Pass's practicality and general usefulness over either Play Rough for important coverage on common Dark resists such as Heracross and Florges, or Superpower to really weather stuff like Mega Aggron at +2 to open up a Slurpuff sweep afterwards. Either move will probably be better than BP.

Slurpuff's EV spread is a tad inefficient, by the time you want to set up with this thing you won't need the power of Adamant and a Jolly spread of 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe will put you above Scarf Mienshao and Infernape after Unburden, which could otherwise revenge kill you with Adamant.

Finally, how is Poison Jab on Mienshao working out for you? I don't mean to say it's a bad coverage move to have at all or that it doesn't help your team but I would consider Stone Edge instead for Crobat, a Pokemon that could cause your HO squad some problems especially in the mid-late game. The rare but effective ScarfBat in particular just ruins you completely and I can't blame you for it much it just has an amazing HO matchup. So at the very least with Stone Edge you can clip overzealous Crobat players wanting to switch in for free and potentially save you the game then and there, and also gives you an option to hit Salamence, another scary Pokemon for you if Mienshao gives it a free set up turn. Poison Jab also won't be as needed with Nidoqueen on the squad and the fact that Slurpuff completely sets up on most Fairies anyway. This one you can probably leave up to preference though.

Hope I helped!
