[OVERVIEW]

Cresselia's niche lies in its ability to be one of the most reliable Trick Room setters in the tier. Additionally, Cresselia's exclusive access to the move Lunar Dance allows it to be the ideal supportive Pokemon for Trick Room teams, as it's able to give Trick Room sweepers a second chance to sweep after being weakened or just provide vital late-game momentum. Cresselia's astronomical bulk allows it to absorb even the most powerful super effective attacks such as U-turn from Scizor and Dark Pulse from Hydreigon and reliably set up Trick Room. Its access to a wide range of useful utility and coverage options such as Lunar Dance and Psychic allows the user to customize Cresselia's set based on the needs of the individual Trick Room team. However, Cresselia is very niche and can only be fit on a very specific subset of teams due to it being outclassed in roles such as a Calm Mind sweeper by Latias and Mega Slowbro due to the limited PP of Moonlight and its lack of offensive presence, limiting its overall viability. Cresselia is often left strapped for moveslots, and this leaves it complete setup bait for certain Pokemon based on its set. Finally, Cresselia's poor defensive typing leaves it easily KOed by a myriad of the tier's top offensive threats after being worn down, which is very common, as it has to take a hit to set up Trick Room before switching into a sweeper.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Trick Room is Cresselia's main niche and the focal point of this set, causing its slower teammates to move first and taking away offensive momentum from the opponent. Lunar Dance is a very useful utility move that can be used in the later stages of a battle in order to both gain momentum and completely heal up a Trick Room sweeper such as Alolan Marowak or Stakataka. Moonlight is a solid option that extends Cresselia's longevity, allowing it to set up Trick Room often throughout the match. Moonblast allows Cresselia to 2HKO Hydreigon and heavily damage other Dragon-types such as Latias. Moonblast also nails Dark-types such as Mega Sharpedo and Crawdaunt that may be troublesome otherwise. Hidden Power Fire can be used in this slot in order to nail Choice Band Scizor, which is a huge threat to the myriad of Psychic- and Dark-types found on Trick Room teams. Psychic can be used over Moonlight due to its solid overall damage output as a STAB attack that heavily damages Pokemon such as Heracross that are threatening to Trick Room teams.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Defense EVs with a Relaxed nature ensure that Cresselia can sponge physical attacks in general while taking Bug- and Dark-type attacks from Pokemon like Heracross, Scizor, and Crawdaunt if needed. Holding a Mental Herb allows Cresselia to set up Trick Room once versus Taunt users such as Gengar and Azelf, which can be very useful if Cresselia has to heal up a teammate with Lunar Dance. Colbur Berry can be used to circumvent Cresselia's Dark-type weakness, but the utility of Mental Herb is much preferred for general use. Levitate is Cresselia's sole ability and it allows Cresselia to easily switch into threatening offensive Ground-types such as Mamoswine and Nidoking.

Usage Tips
========

Cresselia is a Trick Room setter first and foremost, so it should prioritize setting up Trick Room in as many scenarios as possible. Additionally, avoid using Lunar Dance until late-game if possible so that Cresselia can fully heal a Trick Room sweeper to clean late-game. While Cresselia can take hits from basically any Pokemon in the tier, try to set up Trick Room versus Pokemon that cannot heavily damage it such as Alomomola or Mega Altaria in order to maximize the number of times that it can switch in. After setting up Trick Room, it's usually best to switch into a Trick Room sweeper instead of attacking the foe because they can do much more damage to the opposing team while avoiding wasting Trick Room turns.

Team Options
========

Cresselia should be used on full or semi-Trick Room offenses due to that being its main niche. Cresselia is best paired with Trick Room sweepers such as Alolan Marowak and Stakataka that appreciate its ability to set up Trick Room and support them late-game with Lunar Dance. Trick Room sweepers such as Crawdaunt and Bewear that can switch into Dark- and Bug-type moves that threaten out Cresselia make good teammates due to them being able to easily switch in without requiring a free switch. Finally, other Trick Room setters such as Uxie and Stakataka make excellent teammates due to them being able to take pressure off of Cresselia to set up Trick Room.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Toxic is a useful utility move that can be used to allow Cresselia to cripple bulkier Pokemon like Swampert so that teammates such as Stakataka and Alolan Marowak have an easier time breaking through them. Another option on the Trick Room set is Skill Swap, which can be used to strip Pokemon of important abilities, most notably removing Guts from Heracross. Cresselia can attempt to use a bulky Calm Mind set, but the presence of Scizor makes it hard to run this set effectively, and this set is usually outclassed by Latias due to its better recovery move, higher Speed tier, and stronger offensive presence. Cresselia can use a defensive set on stall teams with Moonlight and Toxic, but it struggles to be effective due to Cresselia's poor defensive typing, its tendency to be Pursuit trapped, and Moonlight's low PP.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types such as Chandelure and Alolan Marowak that can threaten the rest of Trick Room teams are arguably the most problematic Pokemon for Cresselia due to it being very passive and not being able to break their Substitutes easily. Gengar can utilize Never-Ending Nightmare to outright OHKO Cresselia, preventing Trick Room from being set up.

**Bug-types**: Bug-types such as Heracross and Choice Band Scizor can threaten to do significant damage to Cresselia because they hit it super effectively, meaning that it won't be able to set up Trick Room later on in the match. However, Scizor has to watch out for Hidden Power Fire when switching into Cresselia, and Heracross has to watch out for Psychic and Moonblast.

**Dark-types:** Offensive Dark-types such as Crawdaunt and Hydreigon are problematic for Cresselia because they do heavy damage with STAB Dark-type moves. Hydreigeon is problematic in particular because it can cause Cresselia to flinch with Dark Pulse. Additionally, Pursuit trapping can significantly weaken Cresselia and make it much harder to set up Trick Room later on in the game.

i've found moonlight to be useful on cress too so i think that should go over toxic.

moonblast needs a slash as an attack. mention psychic in moves as well.

colbur berry in set deets.

idk about aroma as a partner, but idk if irrelevant examples are a problem, maybe just replace w/ azu? again idk if this is rly an issue so w/e lol.

"**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types like Substitute Chandelure and Substitute Alolan Marowak that can threaten the rest of Trick Room teams are arguably the most problematic Pokemon for Cresselia due to it being very passive and not being able to break their Substitutes easily."

u dont need to mention sub.

"**Bug-types**: Bug types like Guts Heracross and Choice Band Scizor can threaten to do significant damage to Cresselia due to them having super effective STAB moves versus it, meaning that it won't be able to set up Trick Room later in the match, but Scizor has to watch out for Hidden Power Fire when switching into Cresselia."

hera doesn't run bug stab.

the dark type part is worded kind of awkwardly, not all dark types use dark pulse so make it more general.

I know I implemented the above check a while ago, but I was looking back at this today and realized how messy the moves section was, so I moved some stuff around and cleaned it up to add clarity and transferred Toxic to OO because it's generally really hard to actually fit onto a set and getting Psychic damage on Swampert can be used to get it into range of Alolan Marowak anyways a lot of the time.

Overview
* Maybe you could provide some examples of super effective hits Cresselia can tank in order to showcase its bulk that you reference. No specific examples I'd really suggest here, just make sure they're relevant to the UU meta.
* 'Its access to a wide range of useful utility and coverage options allows the user to customize Cresselia's set based on the needs of the individual Trick Room team.' - care to elaborate here a little? This shouldn't need much more substance other than maybe adding in an example or two of some useful coverage/utility moves you say it has in its arsenal, but I still think the inclusion will be helpful for readers.
* I think it's worth noting that part of why Cresselia is so niche is due to its inability to pursue other roles without being mediocre at them or outclassed (this would mostly reference its competition as a CM user).

Set/Moves
* Deslash Psychic from Moonlight and instead add that to the fourth slot, replace it with Ice Beam since if you're running two attacks one should always be Ice Beam imo. Make sure to adjust the wording in your Psychic/Ice Beam lines to reflect this change.
* No need to really specify that it's Substitute Gliscor in your Ice Beam line, still hits other Gliscor sets for some good damage.
* Absolutely mention Dark-types as targets in your Moonblast line. Crawdaunt and Mega Sharpedo come to mind as decent examples here.

Set Details
* I wouldn't say that the given EV spread is meant specifically for Cresselia to tank hits from Pokemon that hit it super effectively. Instead I'd consider rewording it to say that it can allow Cresselia to sponge physical well while tanking super effective hits if need be, since that's more accurate of the spread's goal imo.

Usage Tips
* I don't see Toxic mentioned anywhere on the set, so I don't think it needs its own line in this section. Remove that please.

Team Options
* Replace the Azumarill example.

Other Options
* Mention here that Cresselia can attempt running a bulky Calm Mind set, though the presence of Scizor and the competition it faces from Pokemon like Latias and Reuniclus often makes this too situational and suboptimal.
* Consider adding Skill Swap here and say that it can throw off Gliscors by making them take damage from Toxic Orb while also stripping Pokemon like Heracross and Mega Aggron of their fairly important abilities.

Checks and Counters
* Mention Gengar in the Ghost-types section and say that with its Ghostium Z set it can flat out OHKO Cresselia, which fully prevents Trick Room from even being set up.
* Other sections look good, though no need to specify that its Guts Heracross as all of them run Guts.

Looks good, 2/3 when this is implemented, and sorry for the wait. I'll talk to QC about Psychic since I'm a bit skeptical of seeing that on the set, but for now just move it to the fourth slot as the third option like I suggested. Good job!

However, Cresselia is very niche and can only be fit on a very specific subset of teams due to it being outclassed in roles such as a Calm Mind sweeper
You can consider talking about CM Pokemon that outclas it (Latias, Mega Slowbro etc). I'd also put more emphasis on its passivity in this section; it's implied, but not outright stated.
move 4: Ice Beam / Moonblast / Psychic
Deslash Psychic, keep it in Moves only. It doesn't hit that many relevant Pokemon that Moonblast doesn't already nail.
Psychic can be used over Moonblast in conjunction with Ice Beam due to its solid overall damage output as a STAB attack that heavily damages Pokemon like Heracross that are threatening to Trick Room teams.
Move this to the end of the section as a result; Ice beam and Moonblast should be mentioned before it due to their better coverage in UU.
Ice Beam is the preferred option in Cresselia's final moveslot due to it excelling versus Gliscor while still hitting Dragon-types like Hydreigon and Latias. Alternatively, Moonblast can be used to OHKO Hydreigon and heavily damage other Dragon-types like Latias.
Using the Dragon-types as examples for both sections is kinda iffy because it doesn't really show the differences in coverage that much. You can separate them because Moonblast hits Hydreigon a lot harder than Ice Beam would, but Latias is fine as an Ice Beam target.
prevents it from being encored into Trick Room by Whimsicott, which can be very useful if Cresselia has to heal up a teammate with Lunar Dance.
Whimsicott isn't relevant or viable in UU, so I'd cut that line.
After setting up Trick Room, it's usually best to switch into a Trick Room team sweeper instead of attacking the opponent because they can do much more damage to the opposing team.
You should also mention how this avoids wasting TR turns. Usage Tips can also mention opportunities to use Lunar Dance (late-game when cress isn’t needed, for momentum, etc)
**Dark-types**: Offensive Dark-types like Crawdaunt and Hydreigon are problematic for Cresselia due to them doing heavy damage with STAB Dark-type moves. Hydreigeon is problematic in particular because it can flinch Cresselia with Dark Pulse.
Mention Purusit here; if not Colbur it can weaken Cresselia a lot, especially since it needs to switch out to bring in teammates uness Lunar Dance.

QC 3/3 let's get this to gp

hi, great that you're interested in gp. i'd advise you to read some of the resources https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/spelling-and-grammar-standards.3588427/ and https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/guide-to-the-gp-process-new-writers-please-read.3588923/ and take a look at other people's checks for guidance. like vs such as is the main thing i see repeated here, which isn't too much of a big deal to c&c. comma rules (using a comma before as / since if it means because / commas before and / but only if both clauses are independent) and general pokemon terms outlined in the spelling and grammar standards and frequently missed here, so read some of the comments here to try to get a better idea of the standards we follow. don't hesitate to pm me on discord for any clarifications with this check.

Moonlight is a solid option in the third moveslot that extends Cresselia's longevity, allowing it to set up Trick Room often throughout the match. Ice Beam is the preferred option in Cresselia's final moveslot due to it excelling versus Gliscor while still hitting Dragon-types like such as Hydreigon and Latias. Alternatively, Moonblast can be used to OHKO Hydreigon and heavily damage other Dragon-types like such as Latias. Moonblast also nails Dark-types like such as Mega Sharpedo and Crawdaunt that may be troublesome otherwise. Finally, Hidden Power Fire can be used in this slot in order to nail Choice Band Scizor, which is a huge threat to the myriad of Psychic- and Dark-types found on Trick Room teams. Psychic can be used over Moonblast in conjunction with Ice Beam due to its solid overall damage output as a STAB attack that heavily damages Pokemon like such as Heracross that are threatening to Trick Room teams.

Maximum HP and Defense EVs with a Relaxed Nature nature ensure that Cresselia can sponge physical attacks in general while taking Bug- and Dark-types from like Heracross, Scizor, and Crawdaunt if needed. Holding a Mental Herb allows Cresselia to set up Trick Room once versus Taunt users, which can be very useful if Cresselia has to heal up a teammate with Lunar Dance. (give an example of taunt) Colbur Berry can be used to circumvent Cresselia's Dark-type weakness, but the utility of Mental Herb is much preferred for general use. (mention levitate)

Usage Tips
========

Cresselia is a Trick Room setter first and foremost, so it should prioritize setting up Trick Room in as many scenarios as possible. Additionally, avoid using Lunar Dance until late-game if possible so that Cresselia can use Lunar Dance into a Trick Room sweeper to clean up the opponent's team at the end of the late-game. While Cresselia can take hits from basically any Pokemon in the tier, try to set up Trick Room versus Pokemon that cannot heavily damage it like such as Alomomola or Mega Altaria in order to maximize the amount number of times that it can set up Trick Room switch in. (tr is implied / repetitive) After setting up Trick Room, it's usually best to switch into a Trick Room sweeper instead of attacking the opponent foe because they can do much more damage to the opposing team and avoids while avoiding using up Trick Room turns without significant return. Finally, Lunar Dance should be used later in games when Cresselia isn't very important for momentum and can lead to a late-(AH)game sweep.

Team Options
========

Cresselia should be used on full or semi-Trick Room teams due to that being its main niche, preferably offensive versions of these teams to ensure that the turns of Trick Room that it provides are used as effectively as possible. (defensive tr doesn't exist) Cresselia is best paired with Trick Room abusers sweepers like such as Alolan Marowak or and Stakataka that appreciate its ability to set up Trick Room and support them late-game with Lunar Dance. Trick Room abusers sweepers like such as Crawdaunt and Bewear that can switch into Dark- and Bug-type moves that threaten out Cresselia make good teammates due to them being able to easily switch in without requiring a free switch. Finally, other Trick Room setters like such as Uxie and Stakataka make excellent teammate teammates due to them being able to take pressure off of Cresselia to set up Trick Room.

Other Options
=============

Toxic is a useful utility move that can be used on the Trick Room set to allow Cresselia to cripple bulkier Pokemon like Swampert so that teammates like such as Stakataka and Alolan Marowak have an easier time breaking through them. Another option on the Trick Room set is Skill Swap, which can be used to strip Pokemon of important abilities, most notably removing Poison Heal from Gliscor and Guts from Heracross. Cresselia can attempt to use a bulky Calm Mind set, but the presence of Scizor makes it hard to run this set effectively, and this set is usually outclassed by Reuniclus as is because of Reuniclus's its access to Magic Guard as well as increased PP from Recover. (cm latias is more relevant than reuni fwiw) Cresselia can use a defensive set on stall teams with Moonlight and Toxic, but it struggles to be effective due to Cresselia's poor defensive typing, tenancy its tendency to be Pursuit trapped, and Moonlight's low PP.

Ghost-types: Ghost-types like such as Chandelure and Alolan Marowak that can threaten the rest of Trick Room teams are arguably the most problematic Pokemon for Cresselia due to it being very passive and not being able to break their Substitutes easily. Gengar can utilizie utilize Shadow Ball in conjunction with Ghostium (RH) Z to outright OHKO Cresselia, preventing Trick Room from being set up.

Bug-types: Bug-types (AH) like such as Heracross and Choice Band Scizor can threaten to do significant damage to Cresselia due to them having super effective attacking moves versus it, meaning that it won't be able to set up Trick Room later on in the match. (RC) (AP) but However, Scizor has to watch out for Hidden Power Fire when switching into Cresselia, (AC) and Heracross has to watch out for Psychic and Moonblast.

Dark-types: Offensive Dark-types like such as Crawdaunt and Hydreigon are problematic for Cresselia due to them doing because they do heavy damage with STAB Dark-type moves. hi, great that you're interested in gp. i'd advise you to read some of the resources https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/spelling-and-grammar-standards.3588427/ and https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/guide-to-the-gp-process-new-writers-please-read.3588923/ and take a look at other people's checks for guidance. like vs such as is the main thing i see repeated here, which isn't too much of a big deal to c&c. comma rules (using a comma before as / since if it means because / commas before and / but only if both clauses are independent) and general pokemon terms outlined in the spelling and grammar standards and frequently missed here, so read some of the comments here to try to get a better idea of the standards we follow. don't hesitate to pm me on discord for any clarifications with this check.

[OVERVIEW]

Cresselia's niche lies in its ability to be one of the most reliable Trick Room setters in the tier. Additionally, Cresselia's exclusive access to the move Lunar Dance allows it to be the ideal supportive Pokemon for Trick Room teams, being as it's able to give Trick Room sweepers a second chance to sweep after being weakened or just providing provide vital late-game momentum. Cresselia is often left strapped for moveslots, (AC) and this leaves it complete setup bait for certain Pokemon based on its set. Finally, Cresselia's poor defensive typing leaves it easily KOed by a myriad of the tier's top offensive threats after being worn down, which is very common, as it has to take a hit to set up Trick Room before switching into a sweeper.
