[SET]
name: Shell Smash
move 1: Shell Smash
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: X-Scissor
move 4: Earthquake
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Sturdy
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Thanks to the combination of Sturdy and Heavy-Duty Boots, Crustle is almost always able to set up a Shell Smash. This allows Crustle to be a niche late-game cleaner, outspeeding the entire unboosted metagame apart from Accelgor. However, Crustle is susceptible to common Choice Scarf users in Rotom and Sawk. Stone Edge is Crustle's strongest move, hitting physical walls like Altaria and Miltank the hardest. X-Scissor provides coverage for other walls like Uxie, Tangela, and Alolan Persian, in addition to being the strongest accurate move. Earthquake covers Klinklang, Stunfisk, and Rhydon.
Crustle fits well on offense teams and is best saved for a late-game sweep once its checks are weakened or removed. Defensive checks include Poliwrath, Sableye, and Gurdurr, but teammates such as Silvally-Dark and Shiftry can help weaken and pressure them. Offensive checks, on the other hand, include common revenge killers in Choice Scarf Sawk, Choice Scarf Rotom, and Thwackey. Sturdy needs to be broken first, however, for them to revenge kill Crustle. Other partners that can aid Crustle's cleaning chances are the aforementioned Sawk and Thwackey, as they weaken physical walls such as Tangela and Qwilfish. Crustle also works well on setup spam teams, as they can overwhelm defensive checks; partners on them include Klinklang, Qwilfish, and Silvally formes. Healing Wish support from Pokemon such as Hattrem and Galarian Rapidash works well on offense teams, giving Crustle a second chance of sweeping.

Other Options
=============
Crustle can perform as a suicide lead on hyper offense teams thanks to having both Stealth Rock and Spikes. This set also runs Knock Off and Rock Blast, which beats suicide leads that depend on Focus Sash such as Froslass and Accelgor.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Poliwrath, Sableye, and Gourgeist-XL can all survive a hit from Crustle, with the Ghost-types being able to cripple it with Will-O-Wisp. Poliwrath takes less than 50% at +2 and can OHKO in return with Scald. Pyukumuku hard counters Crustle thanks to its great bulk paired with Unaware.
**Fighting-types**: Gurdurr and Throh resist Crustle's STAB attacks, surviving +2 attacks with ease. Gurdurr can 2HKO with Drain Punch, while Throh can phaze it with Circle Throw.
**Revenge Killers**: Choice Scarf users such as Sawk and Rotom can outspeed and revenge kill Crustle, even at +2 Speed. Thwackey can also revenge kill thanks to priority in Grassy Glide. Sturdy needs to be broken, however, in order for them to revenge kill.
