Thanks to its great utility options and defensive profile, Charizard can offer teams valuable support while also checking prominent threats such as Ribombee and Choice Specs Whimsicott. With Toxic, it can more easily wear down common switch-ins in Gigalith, Regirock, and Lanturn. Mystical Fire can be used as a STAB option over Flamethrower to help Charizard take on Stored Power users, notably Mesprit, Uxie, and Claydol. The move also allows Charizard to beat Scald Jellicent alongside Toxic. Good teammates for Charizard would be Pokemon such as Passimian and Trevenant, as they help further break down Rock- and Water-types such as Regirock and Jellicent, respectively. Pokemon like Sandaconda and Weezing also pair well with Charizard, setting entry hazards to help weaken its checks and absorbing Knock Off for it. Finally, teammates such as Quiver Dance Ribombee and Nasty Plot Mesprit appreciate Charizard crippling Gigalith with Toxic, as they have a hard time breaking through it even after a boost.

evs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe (v minor, but go with 248 HP EVs. that way, you switch in on rocks twice from full if you get knocked off, which ends up happening a fair bit in trying to check stuff like tsareena.)

[SET COMMENTS]

With great utility options, Defensive Charizard bolsters itself in PU as a strong pivot and support. (you do this throughout the section, so i'll say it here: you don't have to refer to it as "defensive charizard" every single time. the set is already named "defensive," so it's redundant.) (on top of the utility options, this set also makes full use of zard's good defensive characteristics, which is what lets it shine.) With access to Toxic it threatens common switch-ins in Gigalith, Regirock, and Lanturn by putting them on a residual damage timer. Alongside Roost, Charizard is able to keep itself healthy throughout the course of the game to continuously pivot into things it checks such as Whimsicott and Ribombee, forcing them out afterwards. A notable weakness of Charizard however is it’s poor Defensive typing ("poor" is over-exaggerating. defensively speaking, zard's typing is useful against grass-, fairy-, and fighting-types, all of which are v common.) making it extremely weak to Stealth Rocks. That being said, it relies on leaving it’s fourth slot move to Defog in order to keep hazards off the field or is dependant on playing carefully making sure to not lose it’s Heavy-Duty Boots as it becomes quite incapacitated if so. Good teammates for Defensive Charizard would be things such as Passimian or Trevenant as they further help break the aforementioned things Charizard is threatened by.

would like if knock absorbers got a sentence or so when you talk about teammates. you could also talk about stuff that appreciates mons like gig being toxic'd.

Charizard bolsters itself in the SSPU (no need to say SSPU, PU or just "the tier" works fine) metagame as a strong pivot and support. It possesses great utility options, as well as a strong defensive typing against some prominent special attackers such as Ribombee and Choice Specs Whimsicott. With access to Toxic it threatens common switch-ins in Gigalith, Regirock, and Lanturn by putting them on a residual damage timer. Alongside Roost, Charizard is able to keep itself healthy throughout the course of the game to continuously pivot into the aforementioned special attackers, forcing them out afterwards (this is fluff, Roost being recovery is obvious and is already in its other sets). A notable weakness of Charizard however is it’s typing making it extremely weak to Stealth Rocks. That being said, it relies on leaving it’s fourth slot move to Defog in order to keep hazards off the field or is dependent on playing carefully making sure to not lose it’s Heavy-Duty Boots as it becomes quite incapacitated if so. Good teammates for Charizard would be things such as Passimian or Trevenant as they further help break the previously mentioned things (I think it would be better to list specific examples like Gigalith or Lanturn, and if you're worried about redundancy then you can move a mention above to here) Charizard is threatened by. Additionally, Sandaconda and Weezing pair well with Charizard in order to handily take a Knock Off in order to preserve Heavy-Duty Boots (Mentioning their hazards support is really important, as you can further wear down Charizard checks and Charizard can come in on their checks like Palossand and Tangela).

Charizard bolsters itself in the tier as a strong pivot and support kinda weird phrasing since zard cant pivot itself, just rephrase w smth like utility. It possesses great utility options, as well as a strong defensive typing against some prominent special attackers such as Ribombee and Choice Specs Whimsicott smth besides whimsi would be ideal but works. With access to Toxic it threatens can wear down common switch-ins in Gigalith, Regirock, and Lanturn by putting them on a residual damage timer. A notable weakness of Charizard however is its typing making it extremely weak to Stealth Rocks. That being said, it relies on leaving it’s fourth slot move to Defog in order to keep hazards off the field or is dependent on playing carefully making sure to not lose it’s Heavy-Duty Boots as it becomes quite incapacitated if so this whole section with zard and boots reads awkwardly, can probably cut entirely or just make a mention of being weary of Knock Off Tsareena and Whimsicott and/or Switcheroo Ribombee and merge with when you mention Knock Off switch in partners later. Good teammates for Charizard would be things such as Passimian or Trevenant as they further help break down other Rock and Water-types such as Regirock and Jellicent respectively. Additionally, Sandaconda and Weezing pair well with Charizard in order to provide hazards to wear down opposing Charizard checks and handily take a Knock Off in order to preserve Heavy-Duty Boots. Finally, some teammates that benefit from opposing Pokemon being crippled by Toxic such as Gigalith would be things Pokemon like Quiver Dance Ribombee and Nasty Plot Mesprit, as they have a hard time breaking through Gigalith even while setup boosted if possible make this last bit more concise.

mention somewhere (prob beginning) of what the extra bulk helps it beat throughout game more explicitly

Hey cy, before this fat Defog set goes up, I'd like for there to be a mention of Mystical Fire there (I spoke with other QC and they agreed).

It shouldn't be first slash with Passimian and Articuno-Galar being everywhere, so either second slash or even just a mention in your description would be fine.

But, the SpA drop from Mystical Fire lets HP-invested Charizard take on many special attackers that it wouldn't be able to otherwise. It saves you against various Stored Power users, too (ex. -6 300 BP Stored Power from users like Mesprit/Uxie/Claydol will do about 30% max to Mystical Fire zard).

(the first sentence didn't make much sense, so i tried to rewrite it while merging it with the second sentence given that they spoke to similar points.) With Toxic, (AC) it can wear down common switch-ins in Gigalith, Regirock, and Lanturn. Mystical Fire can be used as a STAB option over Flamethrower as it to helps Charizard take on Stored Power users, notably Mesprit, Uxie, and Claydol. It The move (optional.) also allows Charizard to beat Scald Jellicent alongside Toxic. A notable weakness of Charizard however is its typing making it extremely weak to Stealth Rocks. (my problem with this sentence is that, in its current state, it sort of comes out nowhere and doesn't transition well into the next one. my suggestion would be to either reword it a little [which we can discuss on discord] and move the later sentence about knock absorbers right after it or just delete the sentence altogether.) Good teammates for Charizard would be Pokemon such as Passimian or and Trevenant, (AC) as they further help further break down other Rock-(AH) and Water-types such as Regirock and Jellicent, (AC) respectively.
