Deoxys-D

[SET]
name: Suicide Lead
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Spikes
move 3: Hidden Power Fire / Thunderbolt
move 4: Psycho Boost
item: Fire Gem / Electric Gem
ability: Pressure
nature: Timid
evs: 48 HP / 252 SpA / 208 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Deoxys-D is found on many hyper and heavy offensive teams because of its great bulk and relative ease in setting up entry hazards. With Spikes and Stealth Rock on the field, many common Pokemon on offensive teams gain the ability to turn 3HKOs into 2HKOs and 2HKOs into OHKOs. The purpose of this set is to set up entry hazards as quickly as possible and then knock out any Pokemon that either tries to set up in front of Deoxys-D or use Rapid Spin to make Deoxys-D's work go to waste. With either Thunderbolt or Hidden Power Fire, the opposing Rapid Spin user is going to pay—that is certain. Thunderbolt takes care of opposing Starmie and Cloyster, while Hidden Power Fire does major damage to Forretress.

Psycho Boost works well in the last moveslot to cover the threats that are not covered by Deoxys-D's other attacking move. Additionally, it deals upwards of 75% to Tentacruel, so nearly all Rapid Spin users are kept in check by this virus. One should choose between Hidden Power Fire and Thunderbolt depending upon what a team needs; if a team requires a better check to common offensive Starmie that outpace a large portion of the metagame, Thunderbolt is a great option. Else, if Forretress walls many of the Dragon-type Pokemon on one's team, Hidden Power Fire can be used to great effect. Additionally, with a Fire Gem, Hidden Power Fire OHKOes Scizor, a common switch-in that Deoxys-D faces very often. One important thing to note is that the combination of Deoxys-D's high base Speed for a Spikes user and large amount of bulk make it a great candidate for a Spiker, as most others have bulk but no Speed or vice versa.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

As far as the EV spread is concerned, Deoxys-D has maximum Special Attack to do as much damage to opposing Rapid Spin users as possible. The rest of the EVs allow Deoxys-D to retain some bulk, yet still outspeed Adamant Haxorus. However, one can opt for either a Bold nature to tank hits with more ease or a Modest nature to give Deoxys-D more power—it's all up to preference. Furthermore, one can change the EVs by giving Deoxys-D maximum Attack in the case of opting for a physical variant of this set. In that case, Fire Punch and Superpower are great alternatives for Deoxys-D's attacking moves, as Fire Punch still does plenty of damage to Forretress, while Superpower demolishes Tyranitar that do not expect a Fighting-type move.

Other specially-based alternatives to this set include running Ice Beam, as it surprises the common Gliscor and ensures that Dragon-types such as Dragonite and Salamence do not set up on Deoxys-D while it lays entry hazards. Taunt can be used over either Stealth Rock or Spikes, should another teammate already carry one of the two as moves. As for the item choice, one should run a Fire Gem if Deoxys-D has Hidden Power Fire, while an Electric Gem is the best option for those with Thunderbolt. With an Electric Gem, Deoxys-D will OHKO most variants of Starmie. This allows Deoxys-D to deal as much damage to Rapid Spin users as possible, and it's generally very useful. Life Orb can be a very useful option for those looking to power up Psycho Boost while retaining power on Deoxys-D's other moves. With a Life Orb-boosted Psycho Boost, Deoxys-D even OHKOes the likes of Haxorus and Tentacruel!

Nearly any Pokemon found on hyper offense and heavy offense teams appreciates Deoxys-D's presence, and as such, this set should be used primarily on those types of teams. While Magic Bounce Pokemon—mainly Espeon—can become a headache, Deoxys-D is usually able to set up on any other Pokemon. Pokemon that can revenge kill or check other common opponents that tend to attempt to set up on this set, such as Dragonite and Volcarona, can come in handy. Mamoswine, because of Ice Shard, and Choice Scarf Landorus, because of Stone Edge, make great partners for this reason; they are offensive in nature and can demolish common threats to Deoxys-D. Choice Scarf Rotom-W is another good partner because it checks Dragonite and it also deals major damage to common Rapid Spin users, namely Starmie and Tentacruel.

[SET COMMENTS]
-Plays a lot differently from other Deoxys-D sets since it can knock out spinners by itself, as well as other Pokemon
-Sets up Spikes and Stealth Rock extremely easily
-Great surprise factor
-Outruns a lot of the metagame
-Still has bulk to take hits easily
-Hidden Power Fire with Fire Gem OHKOs Scizor and Forretress
-Thunderbolt with Electric Gem can be used to destroy Starmie, who can otherwise handle Deoxys-D easily
-Psycho Boost deals upwards of 75% to Tentacruel and can also OHKO Pokemon such as Conkeldurr, Breloom, Terrakion, and hit a lot of Pokemon hard (Base 140 Power STAB move ftw)

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

-EV spread lets it outrun as much as it needs to while letting it retain some bulk and power (outruns Adamant Haxorus)
-A Bold nature can be used to let Deoxys-D tank hits more easily
-A Modest nature can be used to let Deoxys-D hit harder
-Can run a physical set with Fire Punch, Superpower, and Max Attack and Speed to KO Tyranitar while still being able to beat Forretress (very useful if you really want to win the weather war, as Tyranitar will not suspect anything)
-Ice Beam is an option on the physical set to destroy Gliscor and Dragonite
-Taunt is an option over Stealth Rock or Spikes if your team already has a Pokemon with one of these moves
-Use Fire Gem for Hidden Power Fire and Electric Gem for Thunderbolt
-Life Orb is an option as well (I would elaborate here that LO is beneficial for boosting the power of Psycho Boost without losing out too much on the power of its auxillary move. With Life Orb, Psycho Boost has a chance to OHKO Haxorus and Tentacruel! Warn the readers that Life Orb cuts out on Deoxys-D's bulk, which would hinder the set-up of hazards.)
-Every Pokemon will benefit from this, as hazards make every Pokemon's job easier
-Works best on offensive teams that are fine with setting up hazards at the cost of a Pokemon
-Pokemon that can take out set-up Pokemon that manage to boost on this Deoxys-D are appreciated (main Pokemon that can set up are Volcarona and Dragonite) (Specify such Pokemon - Ice Shard Mamoswine for ESpeed Dragonite or Scarf Landorus for Volcarona, etc.)
-Also don't forget to mention Espeon, which counters Deoxys-D.
-Consider suggesting Rotom-W as a teammate to deal with Tentacruel / Starmie and for checking Dragonite.

afaik the changes that Pocket suggested here have not been implemented in the skeleton

so you may want to fix that before you write this up!

I think you need to stress the combination of Life Orb and a Modest nature. This is my preferred option for the set (it's just better than the primary option, but I suppose we'll leave it since this has already passed QC), but I would never dream of using merely one or the other. You need to guarantee that KO on Scizor, as it's basically the whole point of the set.

stamping dittocrow's changes, though i need to say that a lot of the changes in the first two paragraphs were unnecessary (spiker is a term, relative ease in setting IS a noun, etc)

for further questions feel free to see me on irc or something, good stuff everyone -- this is done
