[OVERVIEW]
Dhelmise is one of NU's few viable spinners thanks to its solid all-around bulk, good matchup against common Stealth Rock setters, and reliable recovery in Synthesis. Dhelmise can easily take on foes like Bronzong, Diancie, and Mudsdale thanks to its powerful STAB moves and spin their Stealth Rock away, and it's also able to answer common offensive threats such as Shell Smash Blastoise and Golurk. Sadly, Dhelmise is extremely prone to being statused by foes like Rotom-C and Vaporeon, severely cutting into its longevity and forcing it to waste turns recovering health more frequently. Additionally, Dhelmise is at times a shaky answer to the Pokemon it wants to check because of their access to super effective coverage for it, meaning it must remain at or near maximum health to be a safe switch-in, which is difficult because of its vulnerability to all forms of entry hazards. Dhelmise's poor Copperajah matchup is also notable, making it a worse hazards remover against such teams.

Set Details
====
Dhelmise forgoes holding an item to better check Poltergeist users like Golurk, Decidueye, and opposing Dhelmise; this also lets Dhelmise take less damage from Knock Off from the likes of Passimian and Machamp. Heavy-Duty Boots, however, gives Dhelmise a better time answering foes like Starmie, Blastoise, and Nasty Plot Rotom-C if entry hazards are up. Dhelmise runs significant special bulk investment so it can beat Pokemon like Starmie and +2 Blastoise more consistently.
Garbodor is an excellent teammate, since Dhelmise can clear entry hazards without removing its Spikes. Garbodor also helps Dhelmise handle Fighting-types such as Sirfetch'd and Toxicroak. Dark- and Flying-types such as Guzzlord, Drapion, Talonflame, and Braviary can easily switch into Dhelmise's attacks and threaten to KO it, so checks like Diancie, Vaporeon, and Mudsdale are good partners. The former two as well as Sylveon can also offer cleric support, which lets Dhelmise switch into Scalds and Toxics with less worry. In return, Dhelmise can handle opposing Water-types for Diancie and Mudsdale.

Other Options
====
Colbur Berry is another item option that makes it harder for foes like Guzzlord and Zoroark to revenge kill Dhelmise; however, it makes Dhelmise a worse response to foes like Poltergeist Golurk and Decidueye. More offensive EV spreads improve Dhelmise's Copperajah matchup and let it 2HKO foes like Dragalge and Sylveon at the cost of immense bulk. Knock Off works over Poltergeist on Spikes teams with heavy item displacement, but this makes it easier for Poison-types like Dragalge and Toxicroak to switch into Dhelmise.
Checks and Counters
====
**Dark-types**: Drapion and Guzzlord can easily switch into Dhelmise's STAB attacks, force it out, and cripple whatever switches in with Knock Off. Zoroark can't switch into Dhelmise, but it can force Dhelmise out and boost with Nasty Plot on the switch.
**Braviary**: Braviary easily switches into Dhelmise and can use it as setup fodder with Bulk Up.
**Fire-types**: Arcanine is a premier defensive answer to Dhelmise thanks to its solid bulk and Intimidate and easily forces Dhelmise out with Flare Blitz. Talonflame must be cautious of Poltergeist from Dhelmise, but it threatens heavy damage with Brave Bird and a burn from Flame Body if it switches into Dhelmise's other attacks. Salazzle is a poor switch-in but scares Dhelmise out with Flamethrower.
**Physical Wallbreakers**: Pokemon like Tyrantrum and Sirfetch'd can switch into Dhelmise when at full health and easily OHKO it. Ghost-types like Silvally-Ghost, Spirit Shackle Decidueye, and Shadow Punch Golurk also pose a problem, since Dhelmise can't bypass their STAB moves by forgoing an item.
