[OVERVIEW]

Great natural bulk and a Rock / Fairy typing make Diancie one of the easiest answers to Talonflame, Salazzle, and Arcanine to put on a team while additionally setting Stealth Rock. Diancie can also support its team through Heal Bell, and unlike its competition in Copperajah and Bronzong, it can easily take Knock Offs and U-turns. Thanks to Diamond Storm and Body Press, Diancie can also threaten to sweep certain physically inclined teams thanks to Defense boosts granted. Unfortunately, Diancie's typing leaves it with a weakness to NU's many Water-types like Vaporeon as well as Steel-types like Escavalier and Bronzong. It also faces competition from Mudsdale as a physically defensive Stealth Rock setter, which has less exploitable typing and an ability in Stamina that more consistently grants Defense boosts.

Diancie fits nicely onto balanced or bulky offensive teams needing a Stealth Rock user that can switch into Knock Off or U-turn and check Fire-types. Thanks to Diancie's naturally high Defense stat, Body Press's power lets it hit Steel-types hard and 2HKO Copperajah, which would otherwise safely check Diancie, while Diamond Storm can potentially make it stronger. Moonblast hits threats like Flygon and Mudsdale while making Diancie better at directly handling Sirfetch'd. Alternatively, Heal Bell grants Diancie clerical duties, whereas Toxic cripples switch-ins to it like Mudsdale and Golurk. Specially defensive EV spreads can be considered too to better take on foes like Dragalge, Salazzle, and Heliolisk.

Steel-types like Escavalier and Bronzong easily force Diancie out, so teammates like Salazzle and Arcanine are appreciated here. These same teammates can deal with Grass-types like Rotom-C, Dhelmise, and Decidueye that also threaten Diancie. Rotom-C and Heliolisk are great teammates for Diancie to come in on Water-types that pressure it. Rotom-C also deals with Ground-types like Mudsdale and Golurk that easily switch into Diancie. In return, Diancie checks Fire-types for them. A teammate like Decidueye or Ninjask that can pivot on Fire-types to allow Diancie to come in and set Stealth Rock or use Heal Bell is also appreciated. Teammates like Dhelmise and Flygon that appreciate Heal Bell support from Diancie work well as partners. Dhelmise works as a spinner partner to form an entry hazard control core with Diancie, since most common Stealth Rock setters like Bronzong hate facing Dhelmise.

====

Calm Mind lets Diancie overwhelm passive answers to it like Vaporeon and make use of its great coverage options. Similarly, Choice Specs turns Diancie into a dangerous wallbreaker for teams not anticipating it while having perfect coverage. Mystical Fire can be used on special attacking sets to hit opposing Steel-types with the bonus of hitting foes like Vileplume and Escavalier harder, but it still leaves Diancie walled by Heatproof Bronzong.

Checks and Counters
====

**Steel-types**: Copperajah, Escavalier, and Bronzong can take advantage of Diancie's 4x weakness to Steel by forcing it out. The former is 2HKOed by Body Press, though.

**Grass-types**: Decidueye, Dhelmise, and Vileplume are just a few threats that hit Diancie hard while not caring about Body Press. Rotom-C can also deal significant damage to Diancie.

**Water-types**: Blastoise, Vaporeon, and Starmie offensively pressure and force out Diancie. Blastoise can use Diancie as setup fodder as it switches out. Vaporeon and Starmie can even use that opportunity to heal off any lost HP.

**Ground-types**: Mudsdale and Golurk eat up anything Diancie throws at them and retaliate with Earthquake. Mudsdale does not want to be poisoned by Toxic, though.

[OVERVIEW]

With great overall bulk, typing, and access to utility moves like Heal Bell, Diancie is one of the best Stealth Rock users in NU. Additionally, it serves as an excellent check to Pokemon like Talonflame, Salazzle, and Arcanine; unlike its other Stealth Rock-setting competition in Copperajah and Bronzong. Diancie also serves as an excellent Knock Off and U-turn switch-in for teams that need a Stealth Rock teammate that can do so. With a 4x weakness to Steel, threats like Escavalier and Bronzong have little to fear from it. Even Dragon-types like Dragalge and Goodra which carry Poison-type coverage can face Diancie one-on-one and come out on top despite Diancie's typing. Lastly, Diancie does face competition from Mudsdale as physically defensive Stealth Rock setter due to its ability in Stamina and more reliable Defense boosts. This is quite negative for a well, fairly solid mon.

Implement these and I'll give another look, this needs a fair bit of work so it may need to go through multiple iterations.

A special attacking set utilizing Calm Mind and attacking moves like Earth Power can be used as well. Mention Power Gem to beat up Braviary now. Choice Specs turns Diancie into a dangerous wallbreaker for teams not anticipating it while having perfect coverage. Mystical Fire can be used for hitting opposing Steel-types with the bonus hitting foes like Vileplume and Escavalier harder.

While its typing does provide a valuable Dragon-immunity, it does leave it with a weakness to Water, which leaves it unable to check Vaporeon well, as well as a 4x weakness to Steel, which makes it dislike Escavalier and Bronzong.(this point feels super contrived. What is the connection between having an immunity to Dragon and being unable to handle Vaporeon and Steel-types? I'm just not really sure what you're aiming to say here other than "Diancie can switch into Draco Meteor but loses to Vaporeon and Copperajah," which, while true, feels really oddly specific) Lastly, Diancie does face competition from Mudsdale as a physically defensive Stealth Rock setter which has less exploitable typing, and whose ability in Stamina automatically more consistently grants Defense boosts.

Steel-types like Escavalier and Bronzong easily force Diancie out, so teammates like Salazzle and Arcanine are appreciated here. Teammates like Sirfetch'd Dhelmise and Flygon that appreciate Heal Bell support from Diancie work well as partners. Dhelmise works as Rapid Spin partner to form a hazard control core with Diancie since common Stealth Rock setters like Bronzong doesn't like facing it.(yet Copperajah rather seamlessly deals with Dhelmise because of Heat Crash. you can afford to reword to saying it does well against most of the common Stealth Rock setters) Dhelmise also can fearlessly switch into Scald from foes like Vaporeon since Diancie can get rid of any burn that Dhelmise gets with Heal Bell.(you can just work this bit into the previous sentence given the change to replace the Sirfetch'd mention with a Dhelmise mention)

A special attacking set utilizing Calm Mind and attacking moves like Earth Power can be used as well; Power Gem can be used on this to better deal with Braviary than Diamond Storm.(redo this sentence a bit because it's structured quite poorly and I think misses the point to using Calm Mind Diancie) Choice Specs turns Diancie into a dangerous wallbreaker for teams not anticipating it while having perfect coverage. Mystical Fire can be used for hitting opposing Steel-types with the bonus of hitting foes like Vileplume and Escavalier harder, but it still leaves Diancie walled by Heatproof Bronzong.

Vileplume(surely this should be mentioned in the previous sentence; Diamond Storm isn't beating you before you outstall Diancie with Strength Sap healing) and Rotom-C are also and can deal significant damage to Diancie.

**Water-types**: Blastoise, Vaporeon, and Starmie offensively pressure and force out Diancie. Vaporeon and Starmie can even use that opportunity to heal off any lost HP.(well, if we're mentioning what these mons do when Diancie is forced out, might as well say Blastoise can Shell Smash on the switch)

**Ground-types**: Mudsdale and Golurk eat up anything Diancie throws at them and fight right back to send it running. Neither one wants to be poisoned by Toxic, though.(does Golurk actually care that much about Toxic? it's not staying in too many turns in a row anyway and is mostly just sorta annoying for it)

**Ground-types**: Mudsdale and Golurk eat up anything Diancie throws at them and fight right back to send it running retaliate with Earthquake. Mudsdale does not want to be poisoned by Toxic, though.

It also faces competition from Mudsdale as a physically defensive Stealth Rock setter, which has less exploitable typing and whose an ability in Stamina that more consistently grants Defense boosts.

Set Details
====

Other Options
====

Calm Mind lets Diancie overwhelm passive answers to it like Vaporeon and make use of its great coverage options. Similarly, Choice Specs turns Diancie into a dangerous wallbreaker for teams not anticipating it while having perfect coverage. Mystical Fire can be used on special attacking sets for hitting to hit opposing Steel-types with the bonus of hitting foes like Vileplume and Escavalier harder, but it still leaves Diancie walled by Heatproof Bronzong.
