[OVERVIEW]
  • Diancie has a decent Rock- / Fairy- defensive typing as well as access to solid utility moves such as Stealth Rock and Heal Bell.
  • Despite underwhelming offensive stats, powerful STAB moves in Diamond Storm and Moonblast prevent Diancie from being passive.
  • Poor HP and Speed, as well as a lack of recovery outside of Z-Heal Bell, leave Diancie easily worn down, leaving it unable to effectively wall Pokemon such as Swellow over the course of a game.
  • Diancie's defensive typing, while decent, leaves it without resistances to Fighting-types and Poison-types unlike most Fairy- or Rock- types respectively.
  • Additionally, despite having an immunity to Dragon-type moves, Dragon-types such as Zygarde-10% and Flygon are able to exploit Diancie's weakness to Ground-type moves.
  • Reliance on its STAB moves and Toxic to hit opposing Pokemon leave it easily walled by Steel-types such as Metagross, Registeel, and Escavalier.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Moonblast is Diancie's best Fairy-type STAB move and allows it to threaten Dark-, Fighting, and Dragon-types such as Bewear and Umbreon.
  • Diamond Storm allows Diancie to hit Fire-, Flying-, and Bug-types for super effective damage, such as Ninetales, Arcanine, Swellow, and Araquanid.
  • Toxic is an alternative option that allows Diancie to cripple Pokemon such as Cresselia, Gastrodon, and Porygon 2 who wall Diancie otherwise. However, this leaves Diancie more easily switched into by Steel-types such as Escavalier.
  • Heal Bell gives Diancie the ability to function as a cleric for the rest of its team, curing them of status conditions.
Set Details
========
  • The given EV spread maximizes Diancie's special bulk, allowing it to take hits from the likes of Noivern and Choice Specs Swellow as effectively as possible.
  • A Sassy nature boosts Diancie's special defense but also conserves both of Diancie's attacking stats.
  • Normalium Z is an alternative to Leftovers that allows Diancie to completely heal itself one time. This is typically inferior due to the opportunity cost of being able to use a Z-Crystal on another Pokemon however.

Usage Tips
========

  • Diancie's tendency to get worn down due to its lack of reliable recovery should be considered. Residual damage from entry hazards and repeated switch-ins into Pokemon such as Swellow or Choice Scarf Noivern can eventually overhwlem it.
  • Use switch-in opportunities against the likes of Swellow to set Stealth Rock, use Heal Bell, or fire off an attacking move if neither of those utility moves are required.
  • Diancie should avoid getting hit by Knock Off since Leftovers is Diancie's only form of recovery.
  • If utilizing Normalium Z, Diancie can afford to get hit by Knock Off, however Diancie is still unable to switch-in to most Knock Off users such as Machamp.

Team Options
========

  • Since Diancie is weak to Steel- and Water-type moves, Water-types such as Milotoic, Seismitoed, Slowbro who can handle Pokemon such as Metagross and Feraligatr make for good partners to Diancie.
  • Roserade, Shaymin, and other Grass-types make for solid teammates as they can pressure Water-types such as Miltoic and Seismitoed for Diancie.
  • Pokemon who can pressure Steel-types such as Registeel function well with Diancie. Fire-types such as Salazzle, Ninetales, and Arcanine do this especially well.
  • Diancie appreciates entry hazard removal from Mandibuzz, Florges, and Mega Blastoise since Diancie lacks reliable recovery.
  • Wish support from Florges and Umbreon is appreciated to keep Diancie healthy.
  • Checks to Nidoqueen such as Bronzong, Snorlax, Porygon 2, and Cresselia are appreciated teammates.

Other Options
=============
  • Earth Power enables Diancie to pressure Steel-types such as Registeel and Metagross, as well as Nidoqueen. However, most of these Pokemon outspeed Diancie and can threaten to KO it, leaving Diancie usually preferring to switch out anyway.
  • Diancie can utilize Trick Room due to its solid bulk though it competes with other setters such as Cresselia and Porygon 2.
  • Hidden Power Fire could be used to take out Escalavier though this has limited utility outside of this and is typically isn't worth using over Diamond Storm.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Registeel, Metagross, and Escavalier exploit Diancie's Steel-type weakness with their STAB moves. While Registeel doesnt usually carry a Steel-type move, it can tank anything Diancie can throw at it and cripple it with status.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Milotic, Seismitoed, and Slowbro can handle Diancie well, aside from fearing Toxic. Offensive Water-types such as Feraligatr can take whatever Diancie can throw at it and proceed to set-up.

**Grass-types**: Roserade and Shaymin are able to threaten Diancie out with their STAB moves. They dislike switching into Diamond Storm however.

Diancie has a decent Rock- / Fairy- defensive typing as well as access to solid utility moves such as Stealth Rock and Heal Bell.
Diancie has been blessed with an incredible unique Rock / Fairy typing along with access to Stealth Rock and the coveted Heal Bell.

=

Despite underwhelming offensive stats, powerful STAB moves in Diamond Storm and Moonblast prevent Diancie from being passive.
Additionally, relatively high-Base Power STAB moves in Diamond Storm and Moonblast allow Diancie to hit hard despite its unimpressive attacking stats

=

Poor HP and Speed, as well as a lack of recovery outside of Z-Heal Bell, leave Diancie easily worn down, leaving it unable to effectively wall Pokemon such as Swellow over the course of a game.
However, Diancie's impressive defensive stats are let down by its incredibly low base HP and low base Speed, meaning it is both not as effective as it could be and forced into a defensive role outside of Trick Room-oriented strategies.

=

Diancie's defensive typing, while decent, leaves it without resistances to Fighting-types and Poison-types unlike most Fairy- or Rock- types respectively.
While Diancie's typing and the resistances that go with it are unique, its typing sadly leaves it without a resistance to Fighting-type and Poison-type attacks, meaning it is not able to effectively wall Pokemon such as Pangoro, Machamp, and Salazzle.

=

Additionally, despite having an immunity to Dragon-type moves, Dragon-types such as Zygarde-10% and Flygon are able to exploit Diancie's weakness to Ground-type moves.
Diancie's immunity to Dragon-type moves is overshadowed by the fact that most Dragon-type Pokemon can take advantage of Diancie's Rock typing to hit it super effectively, such as Flygon and Zygarde-10% using their Ground-type STAB moves.

=
Reliance on its STAB moves and Toxic to hit opposing Pokemon leave it easily walled by Steel-types such as Metagross, Registeel, and Escavalier.
Having to rely on STAB moves or Toxic to deal noticeable amounts of damage also leaves Diancie easily walled by most Steel-types, like Registeel and Escavalier.
