UU Diggersby [QC: 3/3] [GP: 2/2]

1613298267307.png

[OVERVIEW]
Huge Power makes Diggersby a decent wallbreaker and cleaner that can pressure many Pokemon in the tier. A Swords Dance boost allows Diggersby to KO defensive walls like Chansey and Celesteela; even the latter is KOed by Mega Kick after chip damage despite being the only Pokemon in the tier that resists or is immune to both STAB moves. Quick Attack also provides a strong STAB priority attack that allows Diggersby to perform late-game sweeps, while a Choice Scarf set can outspeed and KO some of its usual offensive checks like Cobalion and Lycanroc-D; however, other common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile and Zarude outspeed Diggersby and have more defensive utility, with the former having Intimidate and the latter having decent natural bulk. Without Choice Scarf, Diggersby is slow and will rarely outspeed its foes, forcing it to usually rely on Quick Attack for a late-game sweep and making it easy fodder for faster revenge killers like Keldeo if they are healthy enough to survive a boosted Quick Attack. Other offensive Pokemon that can boost their Speed, such as Dragon Dance Salamence and Gyarados, can better position themselves to sweep. With Diggersby's low defenses and lack of any meaningful defensive utility outside of switching in on a predicted Electric-type attack with its Choice Scarf set, it needs to typically OHKO its foes to prevent taking heavy damage in return. Additionally, it is weak to common priority users such as Aqua Jet Azumarill and Mach Punch Conkeldurr.

[SET COMMENTS]

The combination of Swords Dance and Quick Attack makes this set particularly lethal, as +2 Quick Attack can KO Pokemon such as Keldeo and Thundurus-T after minimal chip damage. Mega Kick KOes Pokemon like Rotom-W and Rotom-H on the switch after minimal damage and OHKOes Nidoqueen and Keldeo; additionally, at +2 Attack, it OHKOes every Pokemon in the tier except Aegislash and defensive Celesteela. Body Slam can be used over Mega Kick as a more reliable option that will still deal enough damage to KO defensive Pokemon like Amoonguss after one Swords Dance boost. The damage increase from Silk Scarf enables Diggersby to more easily clean late-game with +2 Quick Attack, allowing it to KO Pokemon like Azelf, Keldeo, and Thundurus-T after chip damage.

Diggersby best fits on offense teams, particularly ones that can offer entry hazard support. A Sticky Web setter like Slurpuff or Shuckle helps Diggersby outspeed most of its common checks like Cobalion and Lycanroc-D. Necrozma can function as a complementary sweeper that can also offer Stealth Rock, making it easier for Diggersby to break through tough walls like Tangrowth. Diggersby can struggle at times with Celesteela and Buzzwole, so a teammate like Rotom-H, Raikou, or Thundurus can help threaten them offensively. Additionally, these partners offer pivot support and can safely bring in Diggersby against their common switch-ins like Chansey. Nihilego can help check problematic Pokemon like Rotom-H and defensive Salamence for Diggersby, and in return, Diggersby assists Nihilego by threatening Chansey. Togekiss is a good partner that can ease Diggersby's Speed issues with Thunder Wave and paralyze foes such as Tentacruel and Jirachi. Heal Bell also allows Diggersby to be more aggressive against foes like Moltres, and Togekiss checks Salamence and defensive Pokemon like Buzzwole and Tangrowth. Additionally, Pokemon that threaten Togekiss, like Celesteela, can be worn down by Diggersby over time. Amoonguss and Tangrowth help check common revenge killers to Diggersby such as Zarude and Keldeo and also offer sleep support to allow Diggersby to enter play more easily.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Body Slam
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Spikes / Fire Punch
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Huge Power
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

A Choice Scarf set allows Diggersby to outspeed offensive threats like Nihilego and Lycanroc-D and OHKO them with Earthquake. U-turn allows Diggersby to maintain momentum. Diggersby is able to set Spikes effectively due to the number of switches it can force throughout a match. This helps the team make significant progress by wearing down Pokemon like Buzzwole and Tangrowth, which stop Diggersby's momentum. While Fire Punch can be used to better threaten Celesteela and Buzzwole, typically it is better to relegate other teammates to help deal with these Pokemon, as Diggersby can use U-turn to safely get in other teammates like Rotom-H in against these foes. Knock Off removes Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Salamence and Rotom-H, but Body Slam is typically more effective at heavily damaging both foes and potentially paralyzing them. Adamant Choice Scarf Diggersby outspeeds a majority of the tier except other Choice Scarf users like Krookodile.

Choice Scarf Diggersby fits best on offense or balance teams that require a strong wallbreaker that can overcome any Speed deficiencies within the team. Since Diggersby is able to use U-turn on its primary switch-ins like defensive Buzzwole, Kommo-o, and Salamence, it appreciates a teammate like Primarina, Azumarill, or Nihilego that can be brought in to pressure these foes. Diggersby can also form a strong VoltTurn core with Pokemon like Thundurus and Rotom-H, as both can pivot against common switch-ins like Chansey and bring Diggersby in on a favorable matchup. A Stealth Rock setter like Nihilego or Cobalion helps stack entry hazards and significantly improves Diggersby's ability to clean through chipped foes. Being Choice-locked into Body Slam or Earthquake puts Diggersby in a disadvantageous position against a common Normal- or Ground-immune Pokemon like Aegislash, Chandelure, Galarian Moltres, or Gyarados. Since these Pokemon can use Diggersby as a free entry point, with the latter two being able to set up for a sweep, Diggersby will need teammates(space)that can immediately pressure these foes, like Lycanroc-D. A more defensive teammate like Chansey can also be used to switch in and pivot out with Teleport to gain momentum for another wallbreaker.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Choice Band gives Diggersby more immediate wallbreaking potential, as it can deal severe damage to anything that switches in on it. Body Slam can KO Rotom-H and Rotom-W on the switch with minimal chip damage, and Fire Punch deals substantial damage to typically defensive foes like Celesteela and Tangrowth. Unfortunately, this set is very prediction reliant. Additionally, Diggersby's poor Speed makes it easy for many foes like Keldeo and Lycanroc to revenge kill it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Diggersby's main drawback is its below average Speed without Choice Scarf, allowing many offensive threats in the tier like Keldeo and Lycanroc-D to OHKO it. While +2 Quick Attack can OHKO certain frail Pokemon like Thundurus and Azelf, it will fail to KO Pokemon with good or average bulk such as Mamoswine.

**Priority Users**: Azumarill, Crawdaunt, and Conkeldurr OHKO Diggersby with super effective priority attacks in Aqua Jet and Mach Punch. While Diggersby can threaten to OHKO Crawdaunt with +2 Quick Attack, it cannot do the same to Azumarill and Conkeldurr.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Defensive Pokemon like Buzzwole, Tangrowth, and Celesteela effectively check Choice Scarf Diggersby, as Diggersby fails to inflict enough damage and all of these can threaten it offensively. However, Swords Dance Diggersby can break through all these threats, as none of these Pokemon are able to withstand +2 Mega Kick after chip damage.

[OVERVIEW]
- Diggersby's access to Huge Power makes it a dangerous breaker and cleaner that can pressure nearly every Pokemon in the tier. reword this to be less hyped, its still a niche breaker
- Swords Dance allows Diggersby to boost its attack high enough to OHKO defensive stalwarts like Skarmory and Amoonguss with Fire Punch, or Chansey with Earthquake.
- Quick Attack provides a strong STAB priority attack that allows Diggersby to perform late game sweeps.
- Diggersby is slow, and will rarely outspeed its foes, making it easy fodder for faster revenge killers like Keldeo and Kyurem if it cannot KO with Quick Attack. Additionally, certain threats to Diggersby like Terrakion and Lycanroc resist Quick Attack.
- Diggersby has below average bulk and can rarely provide any defensive utility outside of blocking Volt Switch. As such, it needs to typically OHKO its foes to prevent taking heavy damage in return. honestly don't know what you're blocking w volt besides choice locked rotom?
- Given its poor Speed and bulk, Diggersby will often rely on Quick Attack for a late game sweep, while other offensive Pokemon like Bulk Up Zeraora or Dragon Dance Gyarados can better position themselves to sweep.
emphasize that while it has strength it still needs chip to pick up kills
mention pokemon that are closer to how diggersby works sweeper wise, like scizor

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
- The combination of Swords Dance and Quick Attack are what make this set particularly lethal, as a +2 Attack Quick Attack can KO many Pokemon in the tier after minimal chip, such as Zeraora and Keldeo, and can even OHKO certain offensive threats like Thundurus.
- Fire Punch can be used to deal massive damage to Skarmory and Celesteela, and can OHKO both of these after one Swords Dance boost. It can also threaten Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Amoonguss, and at +2 Attack it can KO Tangrowth after minimal chip.
- Mega Kick can be used to for a chance to OHKO Pokemon like Rotom-W and Rotom-H on a switch unboosted. Additionally, it can OHKO nearly all Pokemon unboosted that do not resist it, such as Kyurem and Keldeo, and at +2 Attack it will OHKO every Pokemon in the tier except Skarmory and defensive Celesteela. The low accuracy makes it less reliable than Fire Punch though, and while Mega Kick will OHKO Tangrowth at +2 Attack unlike Fire Punch, Fire Punch will KO both Skarmory and Tangrowth at +2 Attack after minimal chip. you already mention the skarm and growth calcs
- Life Orb is necessary to maximize Diggersby's damage, as using Quick Attack without a Life Orb significantly reduces Diggersby's ability to clean late game as it will no longer deal enough damage at +2 Attack to KO Pokemon like Zeraora and Victini after chip damage.
- Adamant is the preferred nature, as Diggersby will often rely on using Quick Attack and needs as much damage output as possible. Jolly is an option to outspeed Adamant Mamoswine and Gyarados, as well as less common foes like Modest Venusaur, Timid Nidoqueen, and Jolly Tapu Bulu, but there is nothing else significant in the tier that will be outped by using Jolly over Adamant.

Paragraph 2
- Diggersby best fits on offensive based teams, particularly ones that can offer support.
- Grimmsnarl or Alolan Ninetales are good screen setters that can allow Diggersby to set up Swords Dance more easily. honestly i don't think diggs has the bulk to be a great asset on screens, maybe rework to be about webs + spikestack mainly
- A Sticky Web setter like Ribombee or Shuckle can be used as an alternative to screens support to help Diggersby outspeed most of its common threats like Terrakion and Keldeo once Sticky Web has been laid down.
- Since Diggersby relies on its ability to KO foes before it takes damage ?, a Stealth Rock setter like Azelf or Terrakion helps Diggersby break through tough walls like Tangrowth and Skarmory after Stealth Rock chip damage. reword to hazard setters and mention more relevant ones (sorry no azelf king)
- Without Mega Kick, Diggersby is unable to significantly damage Rotom-W and Rotom-H, and as such will need an offensive teammate like Terrakion or Zygarde-10% it works but try to avoid using niche Pokemon as examples that can pressure these more easily.
- Given Diggersby's below average bulk, it appreciates a pivot like Scizor that can help bring it in more easily. what Pokemon does scizor get diggs in on? you might be better off naming volt switch users like rotom h too
mention some bulky pivots that can work with diggersby on non HO builds
mention offensive mons that are difficult to deal with because they resist EQ and what can help with them

- Choice Band gives Diggersby more immediate breaking potential, as it can deal severe damage to anything that switches in on it. Body Slam can KO Rotom-H and Rotom-W on the switch in with minimal chip, and Fire Punch deals substantial damage to typically defensive foes like Skarmory and Tangela. Unfortunately, this set is very prediction-reliant, as all of Diggersby's attacks have common resistances or immunities, and losing the guessing game significantly hinders momentum as Diggersby is then forced to switch out . can just say like easy to exploit when locked
- A Choice Scarf set allows Diggersby to outspeed many of its offensive checks like Terrakion and Lycanroc-D and OHKO them with Earthquake. Diggersby is fast enough to run this set with Adamant and still outspeed everything in the tier except for Zeraora. Unfortunately, even a Jolly Diggersby with a Choice Scarf does not outspeed a Jolly Zeraora. Additionally, Diggersby will lack the power to OHKO many common offensive foes like Keldeo and Kyurem, both of which will OHKO it in return. edit this to acknowledge how jolly zeraora is more rare
- U-Turn, in combination with a Choice Band or Choice Scarf, allows Diggersby to help the team gain momentum while dealing respectable damage to anything that does not resist it. Typically, Diggersby will be better served dealing immediate damage with Earthquake, Body Slam, or Fire Punch to help break down the opposing team more quickly, and U-Turn is not viable at all on its Swords Dance set. i think U-turn should be ran on the choice scarf set always, CB shouldn't tho.
- Knock Off is an option to punish any switch-in by removing its item, which can help Diggersby support itself and the rest of its team, but since Diggersby has the ability to deal substantial damage with better moves it should be relegated to using STAB and coverage moves instead.
mention spikes

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Diggersby's main drawback is its below average Speed, allowing many offensive threats in the tier like Terrakion and Lycanroc-D to OHKO it. While a +2 Attack Quick Attack can OHKO certain frail Pokemon like Alakazam and Azelf, it will fail to KO Pokemon with good or average bulk such as Mamoswine and Kyurem without significant chip damage.

**Rotom-H and Rotom-W**: Diggersby is also slower than Rotom-H and Rotom-W and cannot significantly damage them on a switch unless it has Mega Kick. Rotom-H can deal significant damage with Overheat or use Will-O-Wisp, while Rotom-W can OHKO Diggeersby with Hydro Pump.

**Defensive Salamence**: Without Mega Kick or the less common Knock Off, defensive Salamence can safely switch in to Swords Dance Diggersby, as it resists Fire Punch and is immune to Earthquake, and a +1 Attack Quick Attack does not threaten it. It can then proceed to 2HKO Diggersby with Dual Wingbeat or Roost off any damage dealt. i think defensive mence sucks but can leave it, maybe combine w the rotoms and go w like "ground-type immunities"

**Priority Users**: Azumarill, Crawdaunt, and Conkeldurr can all threaten to OHKO Diggersby with Super Effective priority attacks in Aqua Jet and Mach Punch. While Diggersby can also threaten to OHKO Crawdaunt with a +2 Attack Quick Attack, it cannot do the same to Azumarill and Conkeldurr. Scizor also deals significant damage with Bullet Punch and can OHKO Diggersby with it at +2 Attack.

[OVERVIEW]
- Diggersby's access to Huge Power gives it a certain niche as a breaker and cleaner that can pressure many Pokemon in the tier.
- Swords Dance allows Diggersby to boost its attack high enough to OHKO defensive stalwarts like Celesteela with Fire Punch and Chansey with Earthquake. I'd put more emphasis on the fact that the only mon that resists both STABs in the tier is Celesteela which drops to Mega Kick after little chip damage. This makes it a very dangerous wallbreaker if given free turns.
- Quick Attack provides a strong STAB priority attack that allows Diggersby to perform late game sweeps.

At least give a small point on why Diggersby is a decent scarfer before listing the downsides of it.

- Diggersby is slow, and without a Choice Scarf it will rarely outspeed its foes, making it easy fodder for faster revenge killers like Keldeo if it cannot KO with Quick Attack.
- A Choice Scarf allows Diggersby to overcome its Speed shortcomings, but other common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile and Zarude will outspeed it and have more defensive utility with either Intimidate for the former or respectable natural bulk for the latter.
- Diggersby has low defenses and does not provide any meaningful defensive utility outside of switching in on a predicted Electric-type attack with its Choice Scarf set. As such, it needs to typically OHKO its foes to prevent taking heavy damage in return.
- While Diggersby has high damage output, it will still need chip damage on most foes before it can cleanly KO them.
- Given its poor Speed and bulk, Diggersby will often rely on Quick Attack for a late game sweep, while other offensive Pokemon like Scale Shot Haxorus or Dragon Dance Gyarados can better position themselves to sweep. Just tie this in with your first downside point about being slow, this feels like repeated info
- Diggersby faces competition from other priority set up sweepers such as Swords Dance Scizor and Belly Drum Azumarill. Scizor deals more damage with a +2 Bullet Punch than Diggersby does with a +2 Quick Attack, while Azumarill can immediately boost to +6 Attack and sweep more cleanly with Aqua Jet.
Sure but I wouldn't say anything has competition as a priority user for this to be worth mentioning. You could have a small line stating how it is weak to more or less every priority move, which is rather obnoxious for it

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
- The combination of Swords Dance and Quick Attack are what make this set particularly lethal, as a +2 Attack Quick Attack can KO many Pokemon in the tier after minimal chip such as Keldeo, and can even OHKO certain offensive threats like Thundurus.
- Fire Punch can be used to deal massive damage to Tapu Bulu and Celesteela, and can OHKO both of these after one Swords Dance boost. It can also threaten Grass-types like Amoonguss and Tangrowth, while also threatening to OHKO Scizor.
- Mega Kick can be used to for a chance to OHKO Pokemon like Rotom-W and Rotom-H on a switch unboosted. Additionally, it can OHKO nearly all Pokemon unboosted that do not resist it, such as Kyurem and Keldeo, and at +2 Attack it will OHKO every Pokemon in the tier except Aegislash and defensive Celesteela. The low accuracy makes it less reliable than Fire Punch though. I would rather use Mega Kick every time because you pressure the Rotom formes and Salamence immediately and it does more to Amoonguss, Buzzwole, and Tangrowth than Fire Punch. You also 2HKO Quag. Fire Punch is really weak in comparison and only really for OHKOing Celesteela at +2 (Which Mega Kick chunks anyways) and surprise OHKOing Scizor.

If you are really worried about reliability it's honestly more worthwhile just going Silk Scarf + Body Slam and not being worn down by LO recoil:

+2 252+ Atk Silk Scarf Huge Power Diggersby Body Slam vs. 252 HP / 220+ Def Amoonguss: 400-472 (92.5 - 109.2%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

Speaking of Body Slam mention it here :o

- Knock Off is an option to punish any switch-in by removing its item, which can help Diggersby support itself and the rest of its team, but since Diggersby has the ability to deal substantial damage with better moves it should be relegated to using STAB and coverage moves instead.
You don't have the space for this
- Life Orb is necessary to maximize Diggersby's damage, as using Quick Attack without a Life Orb significantly reduces Diggersby's ability to clean late game as it will no longer deal enough damage at +2 Attack to KO Pokemon like Azelf and Keldeo after chip damage.
Change this to be about Silk Scarf
- Adamant is the preferred nature, as Diggersby will often rely on using Quick Attack and needs as much damage output as possible. Jolly is an option to outspeed Adamant Mamoswine and Gyarados. It's honestly just not worth the damage rolls. It's easier to just rely on Quick Attack. While the Mamo bit is nice, it fails to KO with Ice Shard unless chipped enough

Paragraph 2
- Diggersby best fits on offensive based teams, particularly ones that can offer support. This last bit is very vague so during write up link it better with your next point/s.
- A Sticky Web setter like Araquanid or Shuckle can be used as an alternative to screens support You have not mentioned screens before this to help Diggersby outspeed most of its common threats like Keldeo Could we get some different examples than just Keldeo. Cobalion, non-boots Raikou, Lycanroc-D, etc. once Sticky Web has been laid down.
- Mew can offer great hazard support by stacking Spikes as well as potentially laying out Stealth Rock, making it easier for Diggersby to break through tough walls like Tangrowth.
- Grimmsnarl or Alolan Ninetales are good screen setters that can allow Diggersby to set up Swords Dance more easily, though Diggersby's poor bulk makes it prefer web and hazard support more so than screen support. This doesn't make much sense because the purpose of screens is to improve its bulk. I wouldn't compare the playstyles anyway. Instead, use an example of a priority move it eats easier behind screens like CB Azu Aqua Jet.
- Without Mega Kick, Diggersby is unable to significantly damage Rotom-W and Rotom-H, and as such will need an offensive teammate like Zarude or Zygarde-10% that can pressure these more easily.

- Diggersby also struggles against other bulky Ground-immune foes like Salamence, and a teammate like Nihilego can with this as well as help check Rotom-H. Diggersby in turn can threaten defensive checks to it like Chansey. Change this to stuff that pressures Steela and Scizor because Diggs can 2HKO Mence even after Intimidate. If you are talking about defensive mence (which is mediocre) then it's not winning the 1vs1 anyways vs diggs
- Tapu Bulu is very problematic for Diggersby, as it will typically not be OHKO'd by Fire Punch unless it is chipped, threatens to KO Diggersby back with a STAB attack, and changes terrain to weaken Earthquake's power for several turns. Pokemon like Salamence and Scizor can resist Tapu Bulu's STAB moves and threaten it back with their own STAB moves in return.

252+ Atk Silk Scarf Huge Power Diggersby Mega Kick vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 270-318 (96 - 113.1%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

- Given Diggersby's below average bulk, it appreciates a pivot like Rotom-H or Thundurus that can help bring it in more easily on foes like Chansey.

I'd mention Togekiss because it can help ease its low Speed tier with Twave support. Potential Heal Bell support can also let Diggs play a bit more carelessly around stuff like Moltres and Wisp Mew. Kiss can also check Buzzwole and pressure the bulky Grasses. In return, Diggs does a great job bringing in Steela and removing it after minimal chip.

move 4: Spikes / Knock Off Fire Punch

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
- A Choice Scarf set allows Diggersby to outspeed offensive threats like Nihilego and Lycanroc-D and OHKO them with Earthquake.
- Access to U-Turn U-turn allows Diggersby to gain momentum, while Knock Off can be used to cripple common switch-ins to Diggersby like Celesteela and Salamence. You can keep Knock Off as a mention as removing boots is nice but Body Slam honestly does enough to mence and anything hit by it has to fear being para'd anyways.
- Fire Punch can be used over Knock Off to deal better damage to Celesteela and Grass-types like Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu, while also threatening to OHKO Scizor. The Grass-types aren't the targets here because it only gives a small chance to 2HKO Amoong (42%), you may as well just U-turn on Tang for momentum when it does the same dmg as Fire Punch, Body Slam still 2HKOs Bulu, and U-turn does more to Dada. The only reason to use it is Steela and Scizor.

Mention Spikes as it lets you make a lot of progress in a match by wearing down mons like...(examples). It can set them easily because of how many switches it can force.

- Diggersby is fast enough to run this set with Adamant and still outspeed everything in the tier except for other Choice Scarf users like Krookodile. A Jolly nature with Choice Scarf does not outspeed anything relevant in the tier that Adamant does not already outspeed.

Paragraph 2
- This set fits best on offense oriented teams or balance teams that require a strong wallbreaker that can overcome any Speed deficiencies within the team.
- Since Diggersby is able to U-Turn U-turn on its primary switch-ins like defensive Buzzwole and Salamence, it appreciates a teammate like Primarina or Nihilego that can be brought in to pressure these foes.
- Diggersby can also form a strong volturn VoltTurn core with a Pokemon like Thundurus or Rotom-H, as both can U-Turn or Volt Switch out of common switch-ins like Chansey to bring Diggersby in on a favorable matchup.
- A Spikes setter like Mew allows Diggersby to break more effectively, as Diggersby does not have the same breaking power with a Choice Scarf as it does with a Life Orb set. With Spikes on its set, I would just focus on rockers. But you can keep the idea of Mew opening up the idea for Fire Punch more while retaining Spikes.
- Being choice-locked into Body Slam or Earthquake puts Diggersby in a disadvantageous position for a foe to switch in a common Normal- or Ground-immune Pokemon like Aegislash, Chandelure, Galarian Moltres, or Gyarados. Since all of these can either set up a Substitute or begin to set up for free for a sweep, Diggersby will need teammates like Nihilego that can take Special hits and threaten some of these Pokemon right back, or a priority user like Lycanroc-D that can immediately pressure most of these with Accelerock. A more densive defensive teammate like Chansey can also be used to switch in and pivot out with Teleport to gain momentum for another breaker. This is a good point but I think it would be better to remove the Nihi example and just keep it to strong priority users. The defensive mons bit is fine with me

Mention some other breakers because Diggersby can bring them in safely and wear down its checks for it to clean more easily

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Choice Band gives Diggersby more immediate breaking potential, as it can deal severe damage to anything that switches in on it. Body Slam can KO Rotom-H and Rotom-W on the switch in with minimal chip, and Fire Punch deals substantial damage to typically defensive foes like Celesteela and Tangrowth. Unfortunately, this set is very prediction-reliant. Additionally, Diggersby's poor Speed makes it easy for many foes like Keldeo and Lycanroc to revenge KO it.
- Diggersby has the option to use Spikes, but relegating it to be a hazard setter wastes its potential as a breaker, and there are better options for Spikes such as Mew.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Diggersby's main drawback is its below average Speed, allowing many offensive threats in the tier like Keldeo and Lycanroc-D to OHKO it. While a +2 Attack Quick Attack can OHKO certain frail Pokemon like Thundurus and Azelf, it will fail to KO Pokemon with good or average bulk such as Mamoswine and Mew without significant chip damage.

**Bulky Ground-immune Foes**: Without Mega Kick or the less common Knock Off, defensive Salamence can safely switch in to Swords Dance Diggersby, as it resists Fire Punch and is immune to Earthquake, and a +1 Attack Quick Attack does not threaten it. Diggersby is also slower than Rotom-H and Rotom-W and cannot significantly damage them on a switch unless it has Mega Kick. Rotom-H can deal significant damage with Overheat, while Rotom-W can OHKO Diggersby with Hydro Pump. I'd have these Rotom formes This is all irrelevant with the set changes. You can have this be a point about Phys Def mons because they can check the scarf set. You can mention Buzzwole and Tangrowth here though mention both are prone to dropping to a +2 Mega Kick after rocks (buzz depending on how much Speed it's running). Celesteela can then be thrown in here too

[OVERVIEW]
Diggersby's access to Huge Power gives it a certainidk about the choice of wording here, certain niche doesn't really sound A- on VR sorta mon to me niche as a breaker and cleaner that can pressure many Pokemon in the tier. Swords Dance allows Diggersby to boost its attack high enough to KO defensive stalwarts like Chansey and Celesteela, the latter of which is KO'd by Mega Kick after chip damage despite being the only Pokemon in the tier that resists both STABs. Quick Attack provides a strong STAB priority attack that allows Diggersby to perform late game sweeps. A Choice Scarf set allows Diggersby to outspeed and KO some of its usual offensive checks like Cobalion and Lycanroc-D, but other common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile and Zarude will outspeed it and have more defensive utility with either Intimidate for the former or respectable natural bulk for the latter. I would briefly mention with the upsides of the scarf set that like, this mons still practically a wallbreaker with its scarf set due to Huge Power, something that stuff like Krookodile/Zarude can't say for themselves. Without a Choice Scarf, Diggersby is slow and it will rarely outspeed its foes, forcing it to usually rely on Quick Attack for a late game sweep and making it easy fodder for faster revenge killers like Keldeo if it cannot KO with Quick Attack. given this only requires Keldeo to drop to like 70% hp, you might want to make it clear that these checks do have to actually be kept fairly healthy. Other offensive Pokemon like Scale Shot Haxorus this is a really weird mention given its a fairly niche Pokemon, just use something like DD Mence here? it has actual defensive utility and bulk too while haxorus is literally like not. or Dragon Dance Gyarados can better position themselves to sweep. Im assuming you mean because they can boost their speed here, but this isn't 100% clear from reading it so would say something allong the lins of other speed boosting Pokemon like.... instead to make it clearer. Diggersby has low defenses and does not provide any meaningful defensive utility outside of switching in on a predicted Electric-type attack with its Choice Scarf set. As such, it needs to typically OHKO its foes to prevent taking heavy damage in return. Additionally, it is weak to many common priority users such as Aqua Jet Azumarill and Mach Punch Conkeldurr.

[SET COMMENTS]

The combination of Swords Dance and Quick Attack are what make this set particularly lethal, as a +2 Quick Attack can KO many Pokemon in the tier after minimal chip such as Keldeo and Thundurus. Mega Kick, unboosted, can be used to KO Pokemon like Rotom-W and Rotom-H after chip damage on a switch. Additionally, it can OHKO many Pokemon unboosted that do not resist it, such as Nidoqueen and Keldeo, and at +2 Attack it will OHKO every Pokemon in the tier except Aegislash and defensive Celesteela. Body Slam can be used over Mega Kick as a more reliable option that will still deal enough damage to KO many defensive Pokemon like Amoonguss after one Swords Dance boost. The damage increase from Silk Scarf is necessary to enable Diggersby to more easily clean late game with a +2 Quick Attack, allowing it to KO Pokemon like Azelf, Keldeo, and Thundurus after chip damage. Adamant is the preferred nature, as Diggersby will often rely on using Quick Attack and needs as much damage output as possible.

Diggersby best fits on offensive based teams, particularly ones that can offer hazard support. A Sticky Web setter like Araquanid or Shuckle can be used to help Diggersby outspeed most of its common threats assume you mean checks like Cobalion and Lycanroc-D. Mew can offer great hazard support by stacking Spikes as well as potentially laying out Stealth Rock, making it easier for Diggersby to break through tough walls like Tangrowth. Grimmsnarl or Alolan Ninetales are good screen setters that can allow Diggersby to set up Swords Dance more easily to enable it to sweep with Quick Attack. This bit obviously needs updating. I would personally nuke the screens mentions but feel free to keep a short mention of Veil still if you wish. Diggersby can struggle at times with Celesteela and Scizor, so a teammate like Rotom-H, Raikou, or Thundurus can help threaten these offensively. Additionally, all three of these Pokemon can pivot out to Diggersby to get it in safely on some of their common switch ins like Chansey. Nihilego can also help check problematic Pokemon for Diggersby like Rotom-H and defensive Salamence, and Diggersby assists Nihilego with Chansey as well. Togekiss is also a good partner that can ease Diggersby's Speed issues with Thunder Wave support. any particular examples of targets it can para for diggs here? given the traditional switch ins are usually like rotoms, rhyp, nihilego etc, it'd be worthwhile stating some actual targets that can actually be paralysed, especially since diggs doesnt really have much of an issue with nihilego. Heal Bell can also allow Diggersby to be more aggressive against foes like Moltres and Will-O-Wisp Mew, and Togekiss can check defensive Pokemon like Buzzwole and Tangrowth. Its also a mence check which is useful. Additionally, Pokemon that threaten Togekiss like Celesteela can be worn down by Diggersby over time.

You would benefit from briefly covering Pokemon that can check revenge killers to diggersby here, eg. zarude and keldeo. can give a quick mention to like tangrowth or amoonguss if you want, amoonguss is an especially nice one to mention because Spore = chances to bring diggs in.

[SET COMMENTS]

A Choice Scarf set allows Diggersby to outspeed offensive threats like Nihilego and Lycanroc-D and OHKO them with Earthquake. Access to U-turn allows Diggersby to maintain momentum throughout the fight. Diggersby is able to set Spikes effectively due to the amount of switches it can force throughout a match. This helps the team make significant progress by wearing down mons yea GP thing but please check your analysis for stuff like this when your writing it up. like Buzzwole and Tangrowth that would otherwise attempt to stop Diggersby's momentum. Fire Punch can be used to effectively take down Scizor and better threaten Celesteela. Typically it is better to relegate other teammates to help deal with these Pokemon, as Diggersby can U-turn to safely get other teammates like Rotom-H in against these foes. Knock Off can be used to help remove Heavy Duty Boots from Pokemon like Salamence and Rotom-H, but Body Slam is typically more effective at chunking off damage from both of these and potentially paralyzing them. Diggersby is fast enough to run this set with Adamant and still outspeed everything in the tier except for other Choice Scarf users like Krookodile.

This set fits best on offense oriented teams or balance teams that require a strong wallbreaker that can overcome any Speed deficiencies within the team. Since Diggersby is able to U-turn on its primary switch-ins like defensive Buzzwole and Salamence, it appreciates a teammate like Primarina or Nihilego that can be brought in to pressure these foes. Diggersby can also form a strong VoltTurn core with a Pokemon like Thundurus or Rotom-H, as both can U-Turn or Volt Switch out of common switch-ins like Chansey to bring Diggersby in on a favorable matchup. A Spikes setter like Mew allows Diggeresby to use Fire Punch instead of Spikes, while still having the team maintain Spikes support to break more effectively. I would also mention the possibility of like, running something like an NP mew instead here too thanks to diggersby taking on the spiker role. A Stealth Rock setter like Nihilego or Cobalion can also help stack hazards and significantly improve Diggersby's ability to clean through chipped foes. Being choice-locked into Body Slam or Earthquake puts Diggersby in a disadvantageous position for a foe to switch in a common Normal- or Ground-immune Pokemon like Aegislash, Chandelure, Galarian Moltres, or Gyarados. Since all of these can either set up a Substitute or begin to set up for free for a sweep, chandy isn't really running Substitute or trying to sweep really, while sub aegi is planned to just be a backslash on the aegislash set. I would just reword this a little to reflect that the former two arent necessarily setting up here but just using diggersby as a free entry point. Diggersby will need teammates like Lycanroc-D that can immediately pressure most of these with Accelerock or, in Aegislash's case, Crunch. A more defensive teammate like Chansey can also be used to switch in and pivot out with Teleport to gain momentum for another breaker. Other breakers like Primarina and Azumarill are also good teammates, as they can be brought in safely by Diggersby on foes like Salamence and Kommo-O. You kiknda brought up this point in the beginning where you talked about nihi and prim? I would just merge this point with the stuff up the top personally.

Choice Band gives Diggersby more immediate breaking potential, as it can deal severe damage to anything that switches in on it.

Checks and Counters

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Diggersby's main drawback is its below average Speed, allowing many offensive threats in the tier like Keldeo and Lycanroc-D to OHKO it. While a +2 Attack Quick Attack can OHKO certain frail Pokemon like Thundurus and Azelf, it will fail to KO Pokemon with good or average bulk such as Mamoswine and Mew without significant chip damage.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon like Buzzwole, Tangrowth, and Celesteela can all effectively check Diggersby, in particular its Choice Scarf set, as Diggersby fails to inflict enough damage and all of these can threaten it offensively. Diggersby can still break through these with its Swords Dance set, as none of these Pokemon are able to withstand a +2 Mega Kick after chip damage.

[SET COMMENTS]

The combination of Swords Dance and Quick Attack makes this set particularly lethal, as +2 Quick Attack can KO Pokemon such as Keldeo and Thundurus (banned) after minimal chip damage. Mega Kick KOes Pokemon like Rotom-W and Rotom-H on the switch after minimal damage and OHKOes targets like Nidoqueen and Keldeo; additionally, at +2 Attack, it OHKOes every Pokemon in the tier except Aegislash and defensive Celesteela. Body Slam can be used over Mega Kick as a more reliable option that will still deal enough damage to KO defensive Pokemon like Amoonguss after one Swords Dance boost. The damage increase from Silk Scarf enables Diggersby to more easily clean late-game with +2 Quick Attack, allowing it to KO Pokemon like Azelf, Keldeo, and Thundurus (oop) after chip damage.

A Choice Scarf set allows Diggersby to outspeed offensive threats like Nihilego and Lycanroc-D and OHKO them with Earthquake. U-turn allows Diggersby to maintain momentum. Diggersby is able to set Spikes effectively due to the amount number of switches it can force throughout a match. This helps the team make significant progress by wearing down Pokemon like Buzzwole and Tangrowth, which stop Diggersby's momentum. While Fire Punch can be used to better threaten Celesteela and Buzzwole, (comma) typically it is better to relegate other teammates to help deal with these Pokemon, as Diggersby can use U-turn to safely get in other teammates like Rotom-H in against these foes.

Other Options
=============

(RH) Additionally, Diggersby's poor Speed makes it easy for many foes like Keldeo and Lycanroc to revenge KO kill it.

Checks and Counters
===================
